Speaker 1:

Well, my friends, here we are kicking off yet another 300 podcasts and beyond. As far as I'm concerned, we're just going to keep going. You know I'm going to do this in my retirement. I think I mentioned that on my first podcast, my first Pat's Peeps that eventually, when I retire, I'll be doing this, doing the podcast, because I would miss it otherwise. By the way, happy Tuesday to you. This is the 15th day of July, by the way. Happy Tuesday to you. This is the 15th day of July, by the way. If you're having a birthday today, happy birthday to you. But I'm looking out my studio window into the beautiful foothills of Northern California. It is sunny but it's a little cooler. Today I can feel that it's cooler, I mean like significantly cooler. Actually, I might go out there and do a little more work outside, but it is a very busy day and I really want to start off today's podcast number 301.

Speaker 1:

It is so appropriate that we begin our next 300 podcasts and beyond with a very special announcement. I cannot wait. I've been wanting to say this to you for a while. But it's not just a podcast. I do tell you that all the time it is about supporting local businesses and behind the scenes. As you heard on a couple of podcasts ago when we featured some of the businesses. We've been working very hard on a lot of things, so this is exciting.

Speaker 1:

If you're listening to me right now, wherever you're listening, if you're in the area that is, and you can be in town, you know the state fair is going on right now and, by the way, I'm also the host of the Pat Walsh Show on KPK Radio News Radio 93.1 FM 1530 AM in Sacramento, Huge radio station, the big flamethrower, 50,000 watt, KPK Heritage radio station. Okay, 7 to 10 PM, Monday through Friday, we are going to be doing my show live. This is so perfect. We're going to do my radio show live on remote, which I rarely get to do. We're going to do it from the State Fair. This is going to be next Tuesday.

Speaker 1:

So here's what I'd like for you to do. I would love for you, if you're listening, I would love to meet you. Please come out. Come out and hang out with us next tuesday, july 22nd, as the pat wall show broadcasts live from the california state fair. That's right. Oh, my gosh, I'm excited. This is an official day. This is the official pats Peeps gathering. Oh, I want to mention something else here too, by the way, now that I'm thinking about it, but this is an official Pats Peeps gathering, our first of the year, which means you know what we may have more we may have more of these.

Speaker 1:

So if you come out and show us your support, there's going to be more Listen. I rarely do I ever. I never ask anyone for a favor, but if you were to come out and show us your support, there's going to be more Listen. I rarely do I ever. I never ask anyone for a favor, but if you were to come out that night and be with us, it would be huge, huge On so many levels, not just for the businesses, for me in front of my work, seeing that this whole concept that I've been working on since 2020 actually works. My friends, if you're listening to me, if you listen to my radio show, or if you listen to this podcast, or if you listen to both, if you can make it out for my show so we can have a huge studio audience, let's blow my radio station away. Let's blow away my Pat's Peeps businesses and go. Who would look at that? And go, oh my gosh, not only are we here as businesses, but this is really something, because look how many people are here and they're getting a grasp on what this whole thing is about. I'm getting so excited. So please mark your calendar to join the Pat Wall show live at the Save Mart Wine Garden at Cal Expo. How about that At the Save Mart Wine Garden? Like? We have the primo spot for this too, right there in the heart of the 2025 California State Fair. On KFBK Newsradio, stop by in person, please say hello, hang out, have some wine, watch the show. I mean, I don't know if I'd want to watch me for three hours, but it would be so big if you would join us. Okay, enough pleading, but please show up.

Speaker 1:

Hey, here's some excellent news. I did a post the other day. You know. I want to say thanks again to Jim at Distinctive Recognition, irish Jim, who, on the spur of the moment, he owns a he's a Pat's Peeps business and you're going to hear more about him coming up next week because he'll be there. Jimmy, irish Jim, thank you.

Speaker 1:

He made this hat for me for my appearance on Channel 40 the other day to promote the business right. Hat for me for my appearance on channel 40 the other day to promote the business right, and so I was wearing the hat. I did a little social media post Sunday night and, uh, in my convertible just driving through the foothills of northern California and um, and I got so much reaction on the hat. They're like where can I get a hat? Well, that was just a prototype. We're gonna refine that hat. It's gonna look so good.

Speaker 1:

And for those of you who have been asking how can I get that Pat's Peeps hat, here's good news that's going to be available real soon. Not just the Pat's Peeps hat, the Pat Walsh show hat, the Pat's Peeps shirt, hats and all of the merchandise that we are getting ready to do. Oh my gosh, all of this stuff we've been working behind the scenes on, so and the shirts that we just had produced, which I can't wait for you to see them. So I would imagine by, let's say, next week, hopefully the beginning of next week, maybe even next Monday. Irish Jim is going to be out of town a little bit, so I can't say for sure, but I would be optimistic that next week I'll be able to give you an address so you can click on there on our Pat's Peeps that's where it'll be is on our Pat's Peeps page, and you'll be able to look at our merchandise. And I'm like gosh, I'm excited. I think you're going to like it seriously. I know all God's children have a podcast, all God's children have merch, but I have a wonderful audience and so many great people that I interact with and we support, so many good things. So, oh, I cannot wait, cannot wait, cannot wait.

Speaker 1:

Today, the podcast is entitled Web Stew. Remember how talk soup? I used to love talk soup, where they'd go around and they would just take all the well. That was for talk shows on TV. It always had great hosts, whether it was Greg Kinnear, joel McHale or Skunk Boy. Loved them all. And so again, please, pats, peeps, businesses, please, be at the fair. We would love to have you.

Speaker 1:

And, with that in mind, what we've done today is we have decided to go around the web, like I say, web stew, if you don't mind, to take off on talk soup. And we have pulled a few fun clips for you from YouTube. Thank you to YouTube. Thank you to Rob Schneider, thank you to Grady Judd, thank you to Dave Chappelle, thank you to DeNiro visiting a nursing home, louis Friedman parody lyrics, chris Lohr music. Thank you to National Lampoon Radio, one of my all-time favorites, travesty Limited Rock and Roll, dr Demento the good doctor we talked about him recently. Thank you to the Punk Polka by the Tunes and so much more. But more importantly, thank you. Rob Schneider starts things off on.

Speaker 2:

Web Stew. I was at the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live a couple weeks ago. I don't know if you know this, but they're kind of liberal over there and Robert De Niro was there and I know that he hates Trump.

Speaker 3:

And.

Speaker 2:

I've been very pro-Trump. At the end of the show we walk up and I'm behind him and all of a sudden people push me a little bit. I'm directly behind De Niro and he turns around and I'm like, no, why, Trump is a schmuck. He makes you a schmuck, Schneider. I don't know why you could say I mean, it's just, I don't get it. He's making you a schmuck. I just kept thinking Robert De.

Speaker 1:

Niro knows who I am, rob Schneider speaking of De Niro. De Niro, like I say, he makes a stop at a, at a nursing home. What a caring, loving guy got him into a sing-along.

Speaker 5:

Robert De Niro, I'm going to do a song and I'm going to change the lyrics slightly, so I think we'll have a little fun with that. It's called well, you've all heard the song Making Whoopie, so I'm just going to change it a little. And when I point to you, you go not making poopie. Can we do that? One, two, three. Let's try it now Not making poopy. Okay, one more time. Come on, you guys, it's not like you need a little coke or something to get you going.

Speaker 6:

One more time.

Speaker 5:

One, two, three, not making poopy. Yeah, okay, great, here we go. Here it goes, maestro. Another fear, another year, another fear, another ear, another animal in your rear, elimination, constipation, not making poopy. Yeah, pp is fine, except if it leaks. What'd you expect from elderly freaks?

Speaker 1:

Ah, De Niro's disrespectful.

Speaker 4:

Poopy not poopy Ugh.

Speaker 5:

We're doing poopy here.

Speaker 4:

I am not All right.

Speaker 5:

Uh-oh, we've got a killjoy in the house. Okay, you're on the toilet. Remind the files. Holy shit, it's good to be alive. It's all a breeze now, but please don't sneeze now. You're making poopy Big. Finish Not being loopy. Better than whoopee Everybody. Now I'm making poopy.

Speaker 1:

Ah yes, Disrespect provided by De Niro, Louis Friedman, Chris Lohr. National Lampoon Radio Hour is also coming up. By the way you know, Rob Schneider was talking about Saturday Night Live here on Pat's Peeps, number 301. Dave Chappelle had a little something to say about Saturday Night Live as well. After Trump was elected the first time around the first time was a Saturday.

Speaker 9:

After the Tuesday he was elected and, man, when they called Donald Trump the winner, that shut the writer's room down.

Speaker 7:

You should have seen them in there, the first one or the second? The first one, boy, they was crying like black people.

Speaker 9:

That's a kid. They was crying like black people. That's good, they're not like black people, but you know what I mean. They couldn't believe that this was happening. I knew it the whole time. Yeah, I did because you live in Texas and I live in Ohio but in 30 Rock it looked like. Hillary.

Speaker 8:

Clinton was going to win.

Speaker 9:

I don't know. I don't know what looks different from those windows.

Speaker 6:

Gosh, nancy, I'm so worried about Timmy. What's the matter, sue? He's just so tired all the time he gets headaches after meals, and last week he started playing with dolls. Gee, sue, sounds like Timmy's got gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria what's that? It's a crisis of sexual identity brought on by a complex interaction of social and biological forces. What should I do? Throw him out of the house. Let him live in the streets with the rest of the trash. But he's only eight years old. Better late than never. Think about it, sue. Nothing ruins breakfast like a freakish hulking shemale. Gosh, you're right, I'll go home and throw him out this afternoon.

Speaker 1:

You know people swear by the unusual, solid, snake conversation to trend to conquer social media here on Pat's Peeps 301. There is an art to being a good listener. I can tell you that for a fact. As a talk show host, I tell people all the time with aspirations who want to be a talk show host I just I think that was redundant aspirations. Who want to be a talk show host. I just I think that was redundant aspirations and want to be. But it is almost more important to listen as a talk show host than it is to speak. There is an art to it Because here's why it shows. It demonstrates to the person who is speaking to you that you are listening and that you care Asking questions. It is a great way to keep the conversation going. It's a great way to let your you know the person you're having a conversation with know that you care and are engaged with what they're talking about.

Speaker 1:

That's why I always use a pen. That's why I always take notes when I'm having a conversation. You don't want to have just questions and you're talking, then they finish their answer and then you go to your next question. See, this is just my opinion as a person that does this every day. That is an interview is just my opinion as a person that does this every day. That is an interview. Now, to me there is a subtle difference between an interview and a conversation, which is what I try to have with people. It's a conversation, an interview. You ask, they answer. Conversation. You ask, you throw something out there. They answer. They respond as they're responding. You take your pen and you jot down notes. What did they just say? I didn't expect them to say that. Okay, let me ask about that. So if they go off on a little tangent or they say something that is of interest, you've marked that down. You can go back and ask that, but let them finish their thoughts too.

Speaker 1:

A lot of times, people are so want to get in their point that they want to interrupt the person who's making the there's telling the story or relating the story or whatever they're saying. You're interrupting them because you're so anxious to interrupt them. And here's another thing too, while I'm thinking about it I know people like this and again, this is just my opinion, for whatever it's worth, as I'm thinking about the listening part, it's unfortunate sometimes. I know people like you will tell them, or someone will tell a story. Like you're sitting there, maybe there's a few of you Someone tells a story. They're relating something to you about their life. It's important to them enough to at least tell you about it. They think you might want to know, or that's interesting, what have you, when they're done telling you the story that they thought was interesting enough to bring up to you.

Speaker 1:

It is my feeling that you should react to their story, not with a story about you necessarily, unless it somehow organically just kind of goes that way. I'm not saying 100% of the time, it somehow organically just kind of goes that way. I'm not saying a hundred percent of the time, but too many times I feel like the person listening, some people they don't respond to the story they just heard by saying, oh, wow, really, so what happened then? Or you know, gee, how did that go, how did that end up? Or you must've felt this way. You know, whatever it is to engage on their story before you get to now your story that can relate to their story. So many people, when the person is done telling they'll go. Well, I one time did this. Well, you didn't respond to what they said.

Speaker 1:

It's a technique and it works very well in a conversation. I always try to keep that in mind. For those, by the way, who are socially anxious, maybe shy, you just can't think of anything to say because it's a lot harder than it seems right. Especially you're meeting new people, it can be very awkward. So they're saying you need to use the they. I don't know who is this Culture, I don't know what is this Upworthycom? Never heard of that.

Speaker 1:

They say use the solid snake conversation to conquer this fear. I'm like what is the solid snake conversation method Taking the world by storm? They say Part of a trend, part of a meme, 100% effective. You don't need to know anything about video games. Blah, blah, blah. I don't want to get into any of that. I don't care about video games.

Speaker 1:

Apparently it stems somewhere from become a bit of a joke in the gaming world that Snake, a man of a few words, tends to fall back on one particular conversational technique over and over, which is repeating or echoing bits of what the other characters say. In other words, apparently it adds emphasis, makes it important. It adds emphasis to important points, creates good conversational pacing According to them, not according to me. It allows the plot, the dialogue, to continue on smoothly. So, in other words, they give an example. Here's an example, quote. These are all quotes, snake, we've got to get to the blueprints. And then the next would be the reply, the blueprints. Yes, the bad guys are constructing a devastating bomb, a bomb, indeed. You'll find the prototype in that bunker over there. A bunker, you get the idea right. How annoying would that be? I mean, how annoying would that be in a conversation. Everything you say they repeat A nuclear weapon Question, uh-huh, approach, launch All right DIA Nano machines.

Speaker 2:

Pal Remains Cell specimens.

Speaker 1:

Rick Astley.

Speaker 4:

Strengthened Gene therapy. One of the greatest soldiers ever, the sons of Big Boss.

Speaker 1:

Can you imagine talking like that? Hmm, you're having a conversation. Can you imagine me I'm doing my interview on the air? Yeah, pat, and we built the fort in 19. The fort was built in 1846. In 1846? Like, where do they go from there? Uh, yeah, uh, in 1846. I don't suggest this. You know it's okay at times, because we all do it, whether we know it or not. We do it, people do.

Speaker 1:

A variation of this, written and developed in Japan by a team led by legendary developer Hideo Kojima, though translated into English and created in part for an American audience, the games feature a lot of bits and pieces of Japanese culture, is what they're saying? He includes interjecting with words or phrases or the equivalents, like oh, I get it. So this is what we do, yeah, really. Or even repeating back the original speaker's words, a la Solid Snake. Maybe I'll try that on my show tonight. If you call up, we'll see how annoying that is.

Speaker 1:

According to Nico Smith, ed Fluent, you and who, of course, they know, quote perhaps you already used some of the interjections in conversation While your friend is telling you a story. You might not a few times, but, though in a surprise, no way. What happened next Works in a similar way, but it's more relentless. As the listener in a conversation, you might find yourself doing just as much talking as the speaker. It could be a sign of interest and engagement. If you have nothing else to say Like what else are you going to say you just say, oh, yeah, yeah, that's very interesting. Azuki doesn't require the listener to be particularly brilliant in conversation, charismatic or creative. Even socially awkward people or anyone who clams up, he says, in social situations can muster a few comebacks. Something to think about.

Speaker 3:

Hey, rock and roll doctor, you're on the air. Yeah, hello, yeah. Turn your radio down, please. You want to turn your radio down, please, sir? What? Turn your radio down? Oh yeah, yeah, right, okay, that's better. You have a question, sir?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm going to the Nugent concert, kind of figured. I'm taking some pot and some acid and I'm going to be taking some Coke and I'm going to be taking a couple of quarts of rum. I was wondering if there's anything else that I should take.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, an Rock and roll doctor, you're on the air.

Speaker 8:

Um rock and roll doctor Mm-hmm. Um, like, I had these um pills and I took them, I think, and um Like, do you know what they were, man?

Speaker 3:

No, no, no, I don't.

Speaker 8:

Oh, wow. Well, I was just wondering, like, who is this?

Speaker 3:

This is the rock and roll doctor. Why don't you lie down for a couple days? Do us both a favor. You'll feel a whole lot better. People, when you call in, try to have a question in mind. Okay, it just makes the show move a whole lot faster. Rock and Roll Doctor, you're on the air. Yeah, you had a call.

Speaker 1:

a moment ago it sounded like that lousy punk that if I clogged all clobbering upset.

Speaker 5:

Well, you're damn right, I'm upset. I think I got good reason to be upset.

Speaker 3:

Okay, well, you're on your way to a heart attack, sir. And also, at the very least, I suggest you take a couple of Valium and relax. I don't have any Valium. Okay, well, just stay on the line, I'll get your name and I'll send you a prescription. Okay, yeah, hey, thanks, okay, no problem. Hello, goodbye, rock and roll, doctor, you're on the air. This is Detective Johnson of the Drug Enforcement Agency. Doctor, perhaps you'd like? Ok, that's just about all the time we have for calls.

Speaker 7:

Right now we're going to break. Take a word from our sponsor. Well, this is St Anne Shrine Road, east of Lake Wells, out in the country Beautiful area. So what does this guy that has peanut butter for brains do? He's wandering around in people's yards and looking around to see what he can steal. He's Josh Ware, he's 33. He's from Lake Wells. So this lady confronts him about being on her property. Does he just leave? Oh no, he gets confrontational, wants to dog cuss and do all that sort of stuff. That ain't nice. And as a result of that, she called the sheriff's office. Well, he went next door and he meandered around a while. Then he stole a golf cart. That just wasn't real nice to do. But our nice deputies found him. We charged him with armed burglary, grand theft, trespassing. And oh, did I tell you that he had also collected US mail from people's boxes out by the road? No, he wasn't delivering it to their house to help them out, he was taking it. So we've got him for four different counts of taking mail from mailboxes. Huh.

Speaker 6:

There's a loser in the flesh right there. Have a good day, drink a little beer and drink a little scotch Turn around and kick your neighbor in the crotch.
