Ep. 365 Today's Peep Is Proud To Present Our 365th Podcast! From Milestone to Firestorm: Celebrating by Confronting Political Hypocrisy and FREE DINNER!
A year’s worth of shows brings perspective—and a promise to keep things honest. We celebrate 365 with gratitude and something useful you can act on today, from beating inflation with a two‑for‑one dinner to the idea of a community meet‑up that turns listeners into neighbors. Then we hit a hard pivot into the story that wouldn’t let go: the Stacey Plaskett texts with Jeffrey Epstein during a high‑stakes hearing. We play the CNN exchange, break down the evasions, and ask the plain question no one wants to answer on camera: was it appropriate?
From there, we widen the lens. You’ll hear how allegations connected to a former Newsom chief of staff and a separate case involving FEMA funds and campaign spending fit into a larger pattern of blurred lines and public trust under stress. This isn’t about scoring partisan wins; it’s about basic standards, real oversight, and whether leaders can still say no when a no is obvious. We connect dots without forcing them, lay out what matters for taxpayers and voters, and keep the focus on accountability grounded in facts.
We also keep a little room for joy. A pristine white‑label 45 spins a Duran Duran classic, reminding us that craft, culture, and community are the antidotes to outrage fatigue. Along the way, we share a practical offer from AI Lending, including an appraisal refund at funding and a trip giveaway drawing, and float a simple idea: let’s meet up at Rock and Soul Diner and support a local spot together. If you value straight talk, local wins, and a playlist that still slaps, you’ll feel at home here.
If this resonates, follow the show, share it with a friend who loves radio, politics, and vinyl in equal measure, and leave a quick review—what topic should we tackle next?
Welcome to the Pat's Peeps Podcast. Where I am extraordinarily proud to present to you Pats Peeps 365. That's a milestone to me because that means, you know, 365 days in the year and all. And you would think, well, you've been, I think you've been doing this longer than a year, haven't you? The answer, of course, would be yes. I've been doing this now two years, but that is uh, of course, as I mentioned before, in my defense, I already do a show five nights a week, and I try to do this show five days a week. Sometimes, you know, sometimes you can't. There's other circumstances, but but generally I'm trying to do it every day. And uh so when you consider 365, when you exclude weekends and holidays and all of that, hey, and some travel days, then that's kind of the way it goes. But I'm very proud to be at 365. I'm proud to uh to have um you know developed an audience, and and I I can't thank you enough. Like yesterday, well, a couple days ago, I was doing my little Thanksgiving. Spectacular here on Pat's Peeps, if you have not heard that. Uh happy Thanksgiving time. It's uh what a week away from today. So as I stare out my studio window into the beautiful foothills of Northern California on this Thursday, the 20th day of November 2025. It's a gray day. It rained overnight. I could hear it raining overnight, but it's not right now. I'm gonna have to go gather some firewood for the long night ahead here in the boy, it's nice out. It's nice and green. Anyhow, wherever you are, surely I do appreciate you listening. By the way, I'm the host of the Put Wall Show, KPK News Radio, 93.1 FM, 1530 a.m. And uh we're 7 to 10 p.m. Did I just say that? Ah, whatever. I love it this week. We've had so many good calls and uh a lot of first-time listeners, which I'm all I always love when we get first-time listeners. So just a couple of reminders for you here. Number one, please don't forget about the free dinner rock and soul diner. Please, if you look that you're talking about a win-win-win. So if you go, we're all trying to beat inflation. I know I keep saying that, but that's what patspeeps.com. PatsPeeps is all about, not just the podcast. But please go there. If you're going downtown, if you're anywhere near downtown, go to Rock and Soul Diner and get your two for one dinner. R-O-C and S O L, Rock and Soul Dinners. I have to underline that. People are like, yeah, I heard you give guys you guys your two for one breakfast. No! But they have good breakfast and lunch, but it's two for one dinners. We're trying to emphasize that because we want to build the dinner crowd. We could do that. You know, here's an idea. We should get together for a dinner over there. Let me know what you guys think. If you're listening now and you listen to my radio show later, what do you think about getting together for dinner over there? One night, just flood the place. We'd have to pick like a Saturday night or maybe a night when, you know, during the holidays when some people have time off. It doesn't have to be a Saturday night that might that way. Maybe it could be another night during a week if we all have time off during the holidays, and hopefully we'll have some, all of us will have a little bit of time off for that time of the year. So, yeah, just a thought. Also, please don't forget about my brother Tim, who is giving, you know, he's he's the what do you say, the the owner, the proprietor of AI Lending, who, as I've told you before, if you're listening to me right now, and if you've been listening to my podcast or my radio show for some time, you know, I just came back from this trip. We went to Sicily and Italy again for the fourth time. Then uh Ryan and I went over to England, but I'd just like to remind you here that my brother Tim, my youngest brother, wants to give all of my listeners a great deal, and I'm very proud to announce that.
SPEAKER_08:Yeah, one other thing that I wanted to mention to you that I because it's your show, Pat's Pete's group. I understand that you know you're the host of Conservative Tours. I wanted to uh share this with you. So generally start in March, April, May, June, July, August through August. Typically the buying season for the rules, you know, customers wanting to buy a home so they can get in before the following of the next four years. What we'd like to do, if you're okay with this, we'd like to uh have a drawing. You know, once we find our hundredth home, we'd like to have a drawing and put all the names in. One through a hundred, and we'd like to draw out a name and sponsor and pay for a trip for uh one of the sort of our mutual customers at that week and a significant others. I've heard so many wonderful things, and I guess to say all the pictures that you send us unfortunately today. We decide that we're gonna go on the trip. We'd like to pay for uh somebody to join us. And uh we're excited. And not to mention, as we discussed earlier, I think in the show, that you know, at funding, we're gonna, you know, for Patch Peaks, we're gonna refund the appraisal fee at funding. And so not just the trip, but uh we're gonna refund the appraisal fee as well. We appreciate uh, of course, you and we're looking forward to a very fun and productive uh relationship with Patch Peaks.
SPEAKER_03:That again, my brother Timothy, my youngest brother, just a reminder for you is we're all trying to save money, and I think that's a great deal and a great offer from AI Lending. Go to AILending.com, or you can, of course, uh look them up for yourself and find out everything about that business. But uh be nice to travel with you if you do happen to win that trip. Anyhow, here on Pat's Peeps 365. You know, you just never know. I thought about doing, you know, like a little retrospective, going back and playing little excerpts from some of my previous podcasts to celebrate one full year, 365, of doing these, and then I decided against it. Because here's the reality of it. You know, maybe at 500 I'll do that. But I kind of go with whatever is on my mind that day. And even though I do try to avoid this at times, I cannot avoid it today. So, with that in mind, I gotta tell you, today, a little politics that caught my attention. The one story that really caught my attention is the story regarding Stacy Plaskett, who remains defiant over the so you want to talk. I've put this Epstein conversation on hold for a long time because there was not much to say. What are you gonna say? But now they're getting down to the nitty-gritty, so I am gonna take a couple of minutes on this. Representative Stacy Plaskett yesterday expressing no regret for her prior contact with the convicted sex offender. This is amazing to me. Jeffrey Epstein, and it would be amazing on either side of the aisle. So I ain't trying to pick on Democrats here, but it's just the truth, man. You must be kidding me. This story, for me to get all irate over politics, Stacy Plaskett expressed no regret for her prior contact with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during a 2019 House Oversight Committee hearing. In an interview with CNN's The Situation Room, the Democrat acknowledging that she initiated contact with the disgraced financier on the the day that she was set to question President Donald Trump's former fixer, Michael Cohen, but refused to say if she regretted the communication. Plaskett, who, by the way, I refer to here in a couple of times, I believe I may be mistaken, Plaskey. I apologize if that's the case. Anyhow, Plaskett, who drew scrutiny recently following the release of these documents from Epstein from the estate, revealed her text with him. Here's what I gotta do. I just gotta play this for you. I have to play this for you from CNN. I'm gonna let it speak for itself on Pat's Peeps 365.
SPEAKER_09:She represents the Virgin Islands, for texting with Jeffrey Epstein during a 2019 hearing that featured Donald Trump's former fixer, Michael Cohen. These were texts that were among the 20,000 pages of documents the House released last week, and they show that Epstein texted Stacey Plaskett saying, quote, Cohen brought up Rona Rona, keeper of the secrets, referring to Trump's longtime assistant, Rona Graaff. Plaskett responded, quote, Rona, and then asked, quick, I'm up next. Is that an acronym? Epstein replied, that's his assistant. A few minutes later, Plaskett asked this.
SPEAKER_04:Is uh Miss Rona, what is Miss Rona's?
SPEAKER_01:Rona Graff is the Mr. Trump's executive assistant.
SPEAKER_04:And would she be able to corroborate many of the statements that you've made here?
SPEAKER_01:Yes, she was her office is directly next to his. And she's involved in a lot that went on.
SPEAKER_09:A minute after Plaskett wrapped up her questioning there, Epstein texted her, quote, good work. The text exchange comes just three months after the Miami Herald published its investigation detailing Epstein's abuse of young girls, and tonight House Democrats are fiercely defending Stacey Plaskett, with the leader Hakeem Jeffries, calling the center vote a political stunt, as Plaskett is echoing that defense and denying that Epstein had any influence on her questions.
SPEAKER_05:They've taken a text exchange which shows no participation, no assistance, no involvement in any illegal activity, and weaponized it for political theater.
SPEAKER_03:Weaponized it for political theater. She's texting a child abuser during the hearing, and somehow they weaponized it for political theater.
SPEAKER_09:Because that's what this is.
SPEAKER_03:Right.
SPEAKER_09:And my source tonight is the Democratic Leader in the House, Hakeem Jeffries, and thank you, sir.
SPEAKER_03:This guy's unbelievable. This guy's pure slime.
SPEAKER_09:But in your view, were they appropriate?
SPEAKER_00:Listen to this. Well, Stacey Plaskett is not accused of violating any house rules.
SPEAKER_03:It's a simple question. Right there. I'm going to stop it right there. It's a simple question. Was it inappropriate for Plaskey to text Jeffrey Epstein after it was already made clear that this guy was a sex offender? And the House Minority Leader, this is the same guy who told everyone how safe it is in Chicago so they don't need the National Guard, as he was doing it in the part of Chicago where perhaps you don't need the National Guard. I didn't see him giving his speech there in West Garfield Park or Englewood or Washington Park or Austin or North Lawdale or any other dangerous, poverty stricken part of Chicago. People are fleeing Chicago because of this guy. But listen to this. She asks him the question Is it inappropriate? Well, I she haven't here you go.
SPEAKER_09:In your view, were they appropriate?
SPEAKER_00:Well, Stacey Plaskett is not accused of violating any house rule and the answer is no, it's not appropriate. And I think what the survivors fought for today is the type of transparency that came out of the house, went through the Senate, and is now on its way to Donald Trump's.
SPEAKER_03:Listen, see, it all with Hakeem Jeffries, it all leads right back to Donald Trump. You can talk about anything with this man, and you will connect the dots, and it will go right back to Donald Trump. Just like it is. So he can't answer the question whether or not it is inappropriate to text the sex offender during this hearing. Nope. 2019 hearing. This guy's already well known as a sex offender. She's getting text from him, getting instructions from him. I mean, don't you have to be outraged, outraged about this? I mean, really? And then even more outrageous is the fact that this fool just continues to not respond or answer the question, and then he'll complain after the third one, like, well, this is the third time you've asked me this.
SPEAKER_00:Well, hopefully he'll sign it into law because at the end of the day, all the American people are asking for is just the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, which is why these Epstein files that Donald Trump and his administration have been hiding for months need to be released.
SPEAKER_03:Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump.
SPEAKER_09:Do you think it was appropriate for her to be texting with Jeffrey Epstein 11 years after he pleaded guilty?
SPEAKER_00:I mean, I have not had a conversation with her.
SPEAKER_03:See, second time asked. He just interrupted her. I haven't had a conversation with her. I'm sorry, do you have to have a conversation with her to think to know whether or not that's inappropriate? I can assure you, if this were Trump doing this, oh, he'd be answering the question. If she asked that question and it was a Republican, or if it were Trump, yeah, oh, he would be able to answer the question. But in this case, you know, I haven't had a conversation with her. Again, no answer. It's just talk, talk, talk, pretend like you're answering. Do you think it was appropriate for her to for Plaskey to text message Jeffrey Epstein, who was 11 years earlier, a convicted sex offender, that you've been trying to railroad people with this now that it's coming out? Do you think this was appropriate? Well, um, you know, when I was a kid, I did have a 10 speed, and sometimes I'd go down to the park, me and my friends, we go to McDonald's and then we'd go, we'd ride around the neighborhood and um, you know, hang out for a while. Well, let me ask you this. Uh do you think it was appropriate for her to text message Epstein during the hearing?
SPEAKER_02:Uh but most importantly, the survivors.
SPEAKER_00:I think that we successfully defeated a resolution uh that lacked any basis, was uncredible, was not credible, and was being brought uh by an individual who was trying to weaponize this issue to reinvigorate his own failed gubernatorial campaign in South Carolina. It was rejected on a bipartisan basis on the floor today. That's the end of the story.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, that's the end. That's the end of the story. That's it. No, that's the end. Oh, hold on. Wait, you know, to her credit, she's this woman with no expression on CNN. Caitlin Collins. She's always very stone faced, but here she is, to her credit, saying, Well, you know, again, all I'm really asking here is, is it appropriate? That's the end of the story. Oh, that's the end of the story.
SPEAKER_09:I was just asking if you personally believe messaging with Jeffrey Epstein, who is at that point a registered sex offender, is is appropriate for a member of the House Democratic August.
SPEAKER_00:It's the third time that you've asked me this question, and I'm gonna give you the same exact answer.
SPEAKER_03:Well, you haven't given an answer. You have not given an answer. See, they want us to think we're all just buffoons, like we're gonna be completely bamboozled by this. Oh my gosh, he did answer this twice. No, he did not. Here is the simple answer. The answer is no. Are you kidding me? You sit there and stare at a camera and talk like this and act like we are some kind of fools. And there are the sad thing is that be some people believe this. The answer is no. How much more clear can you make it? You're alienating people if you think that it's okay to not answer the question presented here, whether or not it's appropriate for essentially Jeffrey Epstein to give to kind of lead the questioning and the information to this Plaskett in this hearing.
SPEAKER_00:Our focus today is on making sure that the Jeffrey Epstein files were released. If you want to have a conversation with Stacey Plaskett about it, I'm sure she'd be willing to talk to you. It was an illegitimate effort to try to remove her from the house.
SPEAKER_03:Illegitimate effort.
SPEAKER_00:Committee on Intelligence.
SPEAKER_03:Right. Illegitimate because, you know, all she was doing was, you know, texting a uh a sex offender. And again, you can't tell me if it was going the other way that he wouldn't answer that question. This clearly shows that putting on the Republicans is a sex offender. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_09:Well, let me ask you about you, because the White House has been highlighting an email that I'm sure you've seen today that Jeffrey Epstein got in 2013. It they say it shows you were soliciting money and dinner from an Epstein. The email was not sent from you, it was sent from a political consulting firm called Dynamic SRG that says we are thrilled to announce we are working with Congressman Hakeem Jeffries. Shoot us an email or give us a call if you would like to get involved. What's your response? Do you recall that email being sent to Jeffrey Epstein from that team?
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, of course I have no recollection of the email. Never met with him, never met him, know nothing about him. I know nothing about extreme things that he's been convicted of doing. Uh and that's why, you know, I'm just strongly supportive of the effort. Backing the survivors to make sure that everything can come out, whatever is in those Department of Justice files.
SPEAKER_09:So you never got a donation from Jeffrey Epstein or anything like that.
SPEAKER_02:Certainly not.
SPEAKER_03:Certainly not. Are you kidding me? Of course not. Anyhow, you know, sometimes you just have to get it off your chest, and I think I did that today. I feel better. That's why I cannot do politics all the time. But I clear the deck every once in a while, and then I end up feeling good about that. So I just or maybe I feel bad. I don't know. I just know I needed to get that. And then there's a couple of other things. So I that's just part of part of the things I needed to talk about to sort of clear the deck today. Here's the other thing. Of course, then you have Newsom's former chief of staff who has now been charged with allegedly stealing campaign funds from the ex HHS Secretary, Dana Williamson. Gavin Newsom's former chief of staff, this is from this past week. Indicted on federal charges, alleging that she was involved in a scheme to steal campaign money from the former health secretary, Xavier Becerra. This federal indictment listing four other conspirators, alleging that Williamson developed a plan with Sean McCluskey, longtime Becerra aide, to siphon money from one of Becerra's dormant state campaign accounts to give McCluskey to pad his salary after he accepted a job as chief of staff in Washington. Isn't that nice? Becerra is a former member of Congress. He was appointed to California Attorney General in 2017, filling a vacancy from re-elected, and then re-elected, I should say, in 2018, with Williamson running his campaign. Joe Biden later, as the president, appointed him as Secretary of Health and Human Services, and he is now running for California governor in next year's election. He is not implicated in the indictment. McCluskey signing a plea agreement October 30th in which he admitted to a count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and wire fraud. According to the filings, he agreed to pay back$225,000 that he took from the account. Let's not let that overshadow you have a U.S. Congresswoman charged now with stealing$5 million in federal disaster funds. Florida Congresswoman charged with stealing$5 million in federal disaster funds. Sheila Sherfless McCormick accused of laundering some federal, some of the Federal Emergency Management M agency money, FEMA money, into her 2021 election campaign. Forty-six-year-old Democrat under investigation by the House of Representatives Ethics Committee could be expelled from the chamber in a statement. Sheffless McCormick, who was elected to Congress in 22, maintained that she was innocent and vowed to clear her name. She faces up to 53 years in prison if she's convicted. Fraud was allegedly carried out through a health care company operated by the Congresswoman and her brother, Edwin Sheffless. Now who is a co-acused, uh co-accused in this matter. Sheflis McCormick, the chief executive, was the chief executive of the family firm Trinity Healthcare Services at the time. Company had won a FEMA contract to register people for COVID vaccines. But in July 2021, it received an overpayment of five million dollars in federal funds, according to the Justice Department. Is that worth up to 53? How do you think you're going to get away with this? That's my question. The siblings allegedly tried to disguise the money source by routing it through several accounts and then eventually used a quote substantial portion on her congressional campaign. That is just so deplorable. Talk about deplorable. Shefless McCormick and another person named in the indictment allegedly diverted the funds from the FEMA contract to friends and relatives who donated the money back to her campaign as personal contributions, according to the prosecutors, who said that no one's above the law. Least of all, powerful people who rob taxpayers for personal gain. According to the attorney. Anyhow, now I feel better. I got it all off of my chest. Alright? Thank you. I move on. I grabbed a record off my record shelf today, my rare 45 shelf. And this particular record, there's not a stamp on it. It's so clean. Capital record label. It's a white label. Not for sale. Says right there, not for sale. Capital white label. This is, let me see. Well, stereo on both sides. Same song both sides of the record. But no radio station stickers, nothing. This is the eighth single by this English pop rock band, released March 14th, 1983. Song was released as a standalone single, became the band's first UK number one record. Debuted in the number one position on the UK singles chart on March 26th, 83. Single also had great success in America, where it was released in late May, went to number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 on August 6th, 83. Sold more than a million copies. This is the as this was uh well the last numbers I really have on this is from 2021. As of October of 2021, so we're talking four years ago now, but uh this song is the 11th most streamed song by this band, at least in the UK. Now that's narrowing it down. Recorded at Tony Visconti's Gooder Studios in Soho. I was just there. I was just in Soho, London, with producer Ian Little, who was recommended to this group by Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera. And eventually the song went uh it went underwent several rounds of mixing. There was a lack of compression on the drums. One of the mixes uh was done at Good Earth, one was at Eel Pie Studios, one at Gallery, and then one at the Power Station, which of course became a name of another band, which a couple of the members of this band were in that band. But anyhow, keyboardist Nick Rhodes remembered being present most of the night during the mix. Left the next day thinking the band had something special on their hands. Then, but then they decided a little bit later on, hey, you know, with the the mix that they had was a little um it was considered a beautiful mix. A little too soft for the sound they were asking, they were looking for. Final mix was done with producer Alex Sedkin. And I bet this hasn't been out of the record sleeve ever. Oh, look at that. It is absolutely pristine, beautiful condition. All right, this is there something, is there something I should know? Duran Duran Pat's Peeps 365. Roger Taylor on drums, Andy Taylor on guitar and vocals. No, I don't own the rights to this. Hope you're having a great Thursday. I want to say thank you for listening to my podcast number 365. I look forward to another full year of podcasts over the next couple of years. Thank you. We'll see you. We'll see you on the radio.
