Rousey.
SPEAKER_01:All right, Pats Peeps. Three hundred and ninety-two on this beautiful Wednesday. It is January 28th, 2026. So I'm outdoors today. As I look into the beautiful foothills of Northern California, I'm outdoors. And I just could I couldn't sit inside with the weather being this gorgeous. Wherever you are, I hope you're having a great day. And uh well today I'm doing a variety of things. Uh, one of those things is raking. That's right. One of the things you gotta do when you are a property owner, I've got oh, I don't know, about three acres. Uh you have to keep it up, you have to maintain it. And so I'm out here today raking, and uh, it's a burn day, which is great here in Placer County. We've got a burn day. Another thing I love about living up here in the foothills is that you can have a little fire out there, burn your leaves, you gotta do it. You gotta burn your pine, your your pine needles, and your leaves. Here's a little secret, and you know, and by the way, it's just fun to uh it's it's a good workout. I'm not gonna say it's fun to rake like this, but it is a good workout, you know. You get a lot of thinking done, but um I don't know, sometimes it's good for the soul, and yeah, and it keeps you moving, keeps you active, which I love that. Two birds, one stone. So, really three today. I'm doing my podcast while I'm doing this. A lot of people don't think about this, but sometimes you know, your pine cones, because they're everywhere, they could be a real nuisance, the pine cones. So you but people will spend money on like dura flame logs or presto logs, which uh you know, in a certain way when it comes to building a fire in a wood stove or in a fireplace, I think there's room for that, but anyway, I don't want to want to get into my little formula for building a fire or anything, but but here's one thing that is overlooked, is all I'm trying to say. When you're when you're waking up, as I'm doing, you keep an eye out for the pine cones because pine cones are a great way to start your fireplace or your wood stove. They are great kindling, they start very easily, they burn hot, they get those logs going. You know, so sometimes you don't need the Presto logs, you don't need the Duraflame logs or what have you. Uh sometimes they're good if you cut them up into pieces. For instance, the Duraflame, and you know everyone has their own opinion on this, obviously, but cut those up in little pieces, use a little sliver of it, yeah, underneath the pine cones, which will then ignite your log there. So there you go. It's my little formula for a fire, but it is fun to hang around where you got a little fire going, burning all the pine pine leaf uh needles and the and the dead leaves. It is kind of nice to stand around and listen to music, and on the weekend perhaps imbibing a few beverages. See, I can't do that during a week because my schedule is so funky. Oh, look at this. Oh, how beautiful is this. I say you'll look at this, you can't see this, but I'll describe it to you. It's one of those red-hot pokers. You see, you know what I'm talking about? Red hot poker comes up this time of year. It's the only one on the yard that's like I've already got some things blossoming out here, like flowers and things. This thing is spectacular. This red-hot poker, it's just coming right out, it's all by itself on this little berm here that I have on my yarn. And it's just a beautiful, vibrant green uh stem or whatever, and uh it's probably I don't know, four feet tall. The bottom of this beautiful flower is I'll take a picture of it, uh, is yellow, and then the top of it is just brilliant orange, the red hot poker. So nice to be out here doing this. Um the other thing that I'm gonna be doing today, as soon as I get done here, is I'm gonna be headed to the landfill. That's right, friends, headed to the landfill. Yesterday, it was great. I've got a I'm gonna do some really cool things. I've got a couple of now classic trucks. I've got my 54 Ford F-100. Oh, can you hear the train in the background? Train the trains are coming! The trains are coming, Maw. Can you hear it? I love that it's not so close that it's a nuisance and it's but it's close enough where you can hear it. Good Wednesday to you. So I've got a couple of now classic trucks. It's kind of hard to believe that my Chevy Silverado Z71 is a classic because I remember getting it right off the showroom floor. My friend Randy, rest in peace, worked there at this dealership, and he called me. I was looking for a vehicle, I was looking for a more than likely a truck, and he calls me, says, Pat Pat, you gotta come down to check out this truck. Man, this just has you all over it. This has gotta be your truck. I come down there, it's a four-wheel drive, it's a beautiful step side. It wasn't the squared up, boxy step side. This has got the smooth curves on it, it is not an extended cab. I I don't I'm not a big fan, never have been, of the extended cab. Um, and it's a four-wheel drive, just it's awesome, red. And then I've got a 1954 F-100, which is a whole other story, uh, which is painted in emerald green. Um, it's got a 5.0 Mustang engine, it's slammed, it's beautiful, but that's a whole other story that I don't want to get into right this second, but hopefully that'll be ready to go on the road here uh pretty soon. But the whole point is, yesterday, I mean the truck's been I was I I loaded it up to go to the dump yesterday, and unfortunately, the battery was dead. You know, I mean it was dead. So I go up to the auto parts store, and fortunately, I just got in in time, it was still under warranty. Don't you love that? You know, you go back to the store and it's still under warranty, but it's you know, it's not like you borrowed the clothes to go on a cruise and then took them back when you were doing your cruise. Oh, I don't like these. You know, that's not warranty. I just taking stuff back. I feel good when it's under warranty. And it was like, oh, he's like, yeah, good news, it's under warranty. So switch the battery out. This truck is amazing. It's got 392,000 miles on it. I mean, it passed smog within like three minutes. They said, Man, the the numbers on this vehicle are amazing on this truck for a 99 with 392,000 miles. When you when I start it, you you can't even hear the thing barely start. It's so quiet. So it's running, so I'm going to the dump today. I'm actually thinking about, I've been giving strong consideration to wrapping one of these vehicles. I'm not a hundred percent, but I've been watching a lot of videos on wrapping these video uh these um these trucks. I kind of like the way they look. They do have some interesting colors now. I like the satin finish sometimes, so it might give it a different look than what I used to when I envisioned it initially. You know, especially on my 54. But the red truck is still in such great shape, the paint. Anyhow, so I'm headed to the dump today. There's something about going to the dump. I can't explain it. I know it probably sounds strange, but as I continue to rank, but I guess you know it stems from going to the dump with my dad when I was a kid, usually on a Saturday. Or maybe on a Sunday, you know, if the NFL wasn't on, if it wasn't football season or whatever. But I can remember listening to baseball games in his old Ford truck. He had one at 59. Um, I can remember just I just somehow associate going to the dump with my dad and uh for whatever reason, like listening to Merle Haggard, uh, just some of the old country artists because I think it reminds me of my uncle. Or I don't know, uh Marty Robbins. They'd be drinking Falstaff beer, you know, and just hanging out as a family. So I have excellent memories of somewhere in the back in that Rolodex in my brain of uh memories of going to the dump with my family and just being kind of a fun experience. So, anyhow, the next time we'll check in here on Pat's Peeps 390.
SPEAKER_00:Night time would find me in the music would play uh it'll be from the down the dump. Okay, all right, black earth night with the eyes of a hino, wicked and evil while casting a spell. My love was deep for this Mexican maiden. I was in love, but in vain I could tell One night a while. Wild as the West Texas winning and daring a drink he was sharing with wicked belina, the girl that I love.
SPEAKER_01:So in our okay, as we continue here, you know. You know, I told you I was gonna be lighting the pine needles and the uh dried leaves. We'll be lighting them for a burn day today. So I can I have some paper that I have saved up that's just trash, you know. People tell you to shred documents and mailers and things that you don't need anymore. Well, up here we can just throw them in the in the old bonfire. Now, these things are as dry as can be, so it will light instantaneously. But you know, I have a flyer, and I don't know what this means exactly, but I have a flyer from Gavin Newsom's office came to my door. So I'm looking through my documents, like, what should I burn first? It was an easy choice. As soon as I saw this off, so yeah. We'll start by burning this. So, as I'm lighting it, I'm trying to light this thing. I didn't even really mean to necessarily, I'm not this weird, but I was actually lighting the side where it just says it has like a hand with a doorknob. And uh anyhow, so I'm trying to light that side, and then I it won't light, and I turn it over, and I promise you this the other side is a uh portrait of Gavin. Do you know it would not light? Now, I again I don't know what that says about whatever, it's just an observation. So I'm gonna have to use this paper right here to see if this will work, and I I would reckon that this will burn right away the first time. So let us give this a shot, and then I'll just throw this junk mail on top of it, just assuming that it does. Right, let's throw this in there, and I can imagine that right away, like I said, this is gonna start the uh pile of dried pine needles, and there it goes, bam! Listen lit instantaneously. But the Gavin knew some literature. Uh yeah, can't burn that. It's inflammable. Well, let's find out. Let's toss that in the fire there and see what happens. Guess what? Turns out it's not inflammable.
SPEAKER_00:I hear people talking about it. Yeah, right, I'm on my way to the dump.
SPEAKER_01:Yes, I'm releasing this Wednesday podcast on a Thursday, which means I'll probably have to. You know, I recorded another podcast just to catch up with Friday.
SPEAKER_00:I don't mind.
SPEAKER_01:Or Thursday. And then Friday. I don't know. I'm confused. Thinking about my uncles, thinking about my dad and my ma. In the good old days, driving out there into the dump in the old truck.
SPEAKER_00:They're walking on the ball.
SPEAKER_01:Listening to Samarlo. Thank you for listening to the Pat's Peeps podcast. It's a little shorter today. You know, because I'm on my way to the dump and all.
SPEAKER_00:The landfill.
SPEAKER_01:I remember I found that Paul Revere and the Raiders A-Track out there one time. Listen to that thing forever. When you're back in the days, they say. Alright.
SPEAKER_00:See you from the landfill.
