Vacation Nights And A New Fence
SPEAKER_05July already, 2026. Yeah, just took some vacation, just a few days off and seeing some music. Last night I introduced the Darkstar Orchestra at the state fair, which is a Grateful Dead tribute band. Man, they were so good. They were so good. They did 90 minutes. I hear they do four-hour shows. Anyhow, on my little mini vacation. I I missed yesterday because honestly, I have so many meetings and things and the works for for my cause, for my business, the Pat's peeps business. So I look out my studio window into the beautiful foothills of Northern California. I see my deck lights, because it's dark out and I have my deck lights on. The deck lights look very nice. Like driving by my home at night in my little mystery hut. Just looking out of my on my back deck and seeing those on my railings. Here's what I'm super excited about, by the way, tomorrow. You know, in most people's world, they'd be like, yeah, what? You're excited about that? Or maybe it's no big in my world. Uh they're building the fence. It's it's the So this is the third phase of building the fence, which the first was putting in the metal post. And the second was last weekend. So that was two weekends ago, and then last weekend framing it. And then today they brought all the redwood out, and tomorrow morning they're gonna beat the heat, it's gonna be like 100 degrees, so it's gonna be early the mystery hunt, putting up my new fence, and I'll be out there buying some new lights for the top of that redwood fence. Oh my goodness. It's gonna look so good. I mean, I like I said, for some people it's just a fence. For me, it's gonna change the whole look of my my yard. Something that I this project I've been working on now for years. So that is going on tomorrow. Wake up early for that. I just figured you know, let me do a podcast, dude. I'm trying to do my podcast, even though I take the night of work. You know what? I love a little bit. Drinking a beer. You
Bringing Back The 2020 Live Vibe
SPEAKER_05know, going back to 2020. When out of the way, I'm on vacation. Back in 2020, I used to love doing these Facebook Live. You know, we were all to keep them separated. So with the pandemic and all that. Anyhow, so I used to do the Facebook Live, and I would just sit there and play records, I might have a cocktail, have a cigar, what have you, play records and talk to people. And it was so fun. And people say, you know, I really like that. I wish you would do that again. I am thinking about doing that again. If I can figure out a way, maybe after my show, to do that, I might do that again. I've been thinking about that.
The 1976 Music Time Machine
SPEAKER_05So one of the things I was thinking about tonight is and I've been thinking about this for a while since it's the our 250th 250th anniversary of this great country. And knowing me, uh as you do if you listen to my show or my podcast, somehow, some way I'm always talking about music. But I've been around a while. When you've been around a while, I may have touched on this before. I you know, I wanted to do this so long that I can't even remember if I did some of this already or not, but it don't even matter. Here on Paths Peeps 487. What who cares? I'm gonna have some fun with it anyhow. I just started thinking about man, are you kidding me? Fifty years ago, these albums came out 50 years ago.
SPEAKER_11There'll be peace when you are done.
SPEAKER_05Kansas left Overture?
SPEAKER_11Don't you cry no more?
SPEAKER_05I mean, this was on the radio all the time. I remember when this first came out. Yeah, that means I've been around a while, man. But 50 years, I like that leftover, Kansas. I remember this one was popular when I was all of these, not just this one, of course, all of these, since it was 1976, the bicentennial year. Bicentennial year is when I was getting my I just got my driver's license. So these are all the songs that were on the radio that I think about from that year. What songs are popular do you remember when you were getting a driver's license?
SPEAKER_12Once I rose above the noise and confusion, just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion. I was sorry never higher, but I flew too high.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I think back on this, it's just like yesterday when these were coming out, you know. This was this was on the radio constantly, all of these. And it's quite a list. I won't get to all of them, even though I could. I would love to get to every single one. Some of the ones I'm not getting to are some of the favorite ones on the list for me, but how about this one?
Frampton And The Live Album Boom
SPEAKER_05This changed live albums, man. Double albums, too. Frampton comes alive. Everyone had to have a live album because this was so successful. A live double album. Pat's Peeps47. Thanks for listening. Hope you're having a great Friday night, by the way. I'll be filling in for Sam Shane on Monday and Tuesday, so be doing noon to three those days. 77, July 3rd.
SPEAKER_12Do you feel like we do?
SPEAKER_05He made that top box famous too, even though Joe Walsh did it be for him.
SPEAKER_07Do you feel like we do?
SPEAKER_11That's true. Do you feel like we do?
SPEAKER_05Boy, this one was on the radio all the time, 2 a.m. radio. That's right, Carol Y. Don't forget this weekend it's gonna be a warm one, 103 degrees tomorrow. Make sure to stay hydrated. They always tell you that to stay hydrated right now. We got the new one, boss gags low down from the new album, Silk Degrees. Appreciate you listening, baby. It is the Pat's peeps podcast.
SPEAKER_06Babies in the run around, hanging with the crowd, putting your business in the street, talking about loud. Saying bottom fits and great album.
SPEAKER_05All the way through. Leto and harbor lights. You know who else had a live album after Peter Frampton? But it was after this song, also 1976. Bob Seeger, he had that live bullet, double album.
SPEAKER_02Tight pants, points, hollering out.
SPEAKER_05I just can't believe this was she was a blackhead 50 years ago.
SPEAKER_13And points all her own, sudden way up high.
SPEAKER_05I didn't understand back then when they said time flies, you know.
How Songs Lock In Memories
SPEAKER_05What were you doing back when this was popular? You remember?
SPEAKER_03Working on mysteries without any clues.
SPEAKER_05Trying to make some I was going to Elk Grove High School sophomore.
SPEAKER_13Working on a night moves.
SPEAKER_05This one was sure popular. Another one that was on the radio constantly. And almost every song on Steve Miller band Fly Like an Eagle. Almost every song was played on the radio.
SPEAKER_09Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the future. Time keeps on slipping, seven, seven into the future.
SPEAKER_05I wanna fly like a little bit. Do these songs bring back memories to you? I always attach music to what to memories what I was doing at that time of my life. Like when I hear this, when I hear any of these songs, it takes me right back to where I what I was doing, who I was hanging out with, everything, how I felt in life, you know.
SPEAKER_10With no shoes on the feet, house the people living in the street.
SPEAKER_05I remember we um we were living over on Tattershell by Mac Road, but I wanted to still go to Elk Grove High School, so I would like to take a bus over there, and I always remember this one we'll be playing every morning when I went to go catch the bus to go to high school. But when we lived in Elk Grove, I could just walk right across the street after we moved, which was way better.
SPEAKER_04Stevie Wonder Music is a word with an excel, with a language we all understand.
SPEAKER_05Songs and the key of life, of course.
SPEAKER_04With an equal life, the sand dance left ahead. But just because the record has a proof, don't make it in the group. But you can tell right away it's today when the people start to move.
Rapid Fire 1976 Album Roll Call
SPEAKER_05Some of the other albums that came out in 1976. How about Boston, Boston's first album? Every song was played on the radio. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers first album, great first album, came out in 1976. Rod Stewart and Night on the Town, The Stones Black and Blue. Love that one with um hot stuff. Hey, Nagrita, oh Sherry, love that record. If you're a KISS fan, you were probably excited that Destroyer came out in 1976. Wings at the speed of sound, Blondie, bad company, run with a pack. The Ramones A C D C high voltage. Great album came out in 1976. You know what came out in 1976? It's the greatest Stoner album ever. Ever. Everyone thinks it's Pink Floyd Dark Side, which is my favorite album, but this one, Rush 2112. My favorite Aerosmith album, Rocks. Rats in the Cellar, back and back of the saddle, licking a promise, nobody's fault. Then the underrated Led Zeppelin album, one of my favorites, actually, Presents, came out in 1976.
The Heavy Hitters To Close It Out
SPEAKER_05Who can forget of 1976? Think about this again. Let it set in that if you were listening to this on the radio like I was, constantly on the radio, back in its eighty, even though I know it still gets played on the radio, but I'm talking about when this first came out. That's 50 years ago. Eagles, of course, Hotel California. Again, I hope you're doing great on a Friday night. Sometimes I just like hearing the music, you know.
SPEAKER_11On a dark desert highway, cooling in my hair. Up ahead in the distance. I saw a shimmering light.
unknownI hit too heavy.
SPEAKER_05My favorite Steely Dan album came out in 1976, which is Royal Scam. The Royal Scam is my very favorite of all the Steely Dans. And I thought I would finish with this one.
Year Of The Cat First Love Story
SPEAKER_05Had a different sound. Remember Al Stewart? Year of the Cat. Always liked this one. I remember as a Catholic, I got invited to a Mormon square dance at 16 years old. And I met the most beautiful Mormon girl. And we were square dancing. I just remember her name was Tammy, and I met her. And the next thing you know, we're kissing and holding hands. This Irish Catholic and this beautiful Mormon, two 16-year-olds. And then we went to a dance. And I remember I couldn't believe it. We were gonna slow dance. We slow danced to this song. Wonder whatever happened to her.
Thanks For Listening And Sign Off
SPEAKER_05I wanna say thank you for listening to Pat's Peeps 487. Have a beautiful evening. We'll see you on the radio.
SPEAKER_01On a morning from a bull-guck movie in a country where they turn by time. You go strolling through the crowd like Victoria contemplating a crime. She comes out of the sun in a silver dress, running like a watercolor in the rain. Don't bother using the explanation. She'll just tell you that she came in the ear of a cat.
