From Keri's story, "The Lotus' Earthquake"

Like the lotus, petal by petal I will somehow blossom. The lotus is a symbol of strength, new beginnings and rebirth. My soul’s desire for triumph is fierce. The way a lotus grows is a victory over obstacles that most can’t overcome. So this is not a sad story, it’s a story about someone who had many tough times but has learned to be happy no matter what she’s going through.
