Getting Comfortable with the Uncomfortable: Interview with Dr. Shelby Kemper

Four of a Kind Season 2 Episode 3

This week’s episode features an interview with Dr. Shelby Kemper.

In this episode, Shelby tells us all about her experience founding both a non-profit health organization, as well as her experience leading a for-profit global health consulting firm, and all of the similarities (and of course the differences ... access to toilet paper is a big one) between the two.

Dr. Shelby Kemper is the Board Chair and co-founder of CU Peru, a 501c3 organization, that educates rural community health workers in the Peruvian Amazon to triage patients and employ preventative public health practices to empower their communities. She is also a Founding Board Member of Bridge to Health USA. She works as a public health professional and pharmacist as a consultant with her business, Kemper Pharmaceutical Services, which focuses on health systems strengthening and the improvement of access and utilization of pharmaceuticals in low- and middle-income countries.

Dr. Kemper received her MPH at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and her PharmD from the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She currently resides in Marina del Rey, CA and enjoys pilates, traveling and spending time at the beach.
