It's time to open the Captain's Book of Historical Facts to see what happened on this day in history. And we start back in the year 1778. Mary Hayes Macaulay, known as Molly Pitcher, carried water to the soldiers during the Battle of Mammoth and supposedly took her husband's place at his gun after he was overcome with eat. This was, of course, during the Revolutionary War. In 1972, on this day, President Nixon announced that no new draftees would be sent to Vietnam. 1996. The Citadel voted to admit women. It ended a 153-year-old men-only policy at the South Carolina Military School. 1997. It was on this day that Mike Tyson was disqualified for biting a Vander Holyfield's ear. It was after three rounds of their WBA heavyweight title fight in Las Vegas. And in the year 2000 on this day, Darva Conger announced that she had done a layout for Playboy. Who is Conger? Well, she had married Rick Rockwell on Fox TV's Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire? And that is this day in history for the 28th of June.
