And our first stop of the Wayback Machine, year 1954. It was on this day that Elvis Presley's first commercial recording session took place in Memphis, Tennessee. He recorded this song, That's Alright.

1955. Chuck Barry's song Maybelline is copyrighted in Barry's name alone, but Alan Freed's name is added as a form of payola. 1964. President Lyndon Johnson invites the four seasons to play at the White House. 1965, Motown President Barry Gordon Jr. appears on the popular TV show To Tell the Truth. The Supremes perform after his identity is revealed. And on this day in 1969, the Rolling Stones gave a free concert for 250,000 fans in London's High Park. It was a tribute to their founding member Brian Jones, who died two days earlier, and to introduce Mick Taylor as the new guitarist. Alright, let's get back to Elvis.
