Owning an Art Studio in Alaska feat. Joel Loosli

Joel Loosli is the owner of AK Clothing Company and co-owner of MetaAlaska metal arts. Joel makes incredible designs and recently opened the studio and boutique - The Cove in downtown Anchorage.

"I am an Alaskan-born designer living in Anchorage. I graduated

with a degree in Visual Communications from the Art Institute

of Seattle. I have been working as a designer for the past 20+ years.

My Alaskan-themed apparel company, AK Clothing Company

(formerly known as Claimjumper AK) has recently opened a store

front in the Peterson Tower in downtown Anchorage. It is in a space

called The Cove.

I try to create visually appealing designs that immediately grab your

attention with use of color and composition then subtly reveal the

Alaskan themed elements. I want you to like what you are looking at 

first then hopefully you realize it contains Alaskan elements. With so

much of the Alaskan apparel out there seemingly aimed at the

undiscerning tourist, I took it upon myself to give Alaskans some

options that were a bit more classy yet still allow you to show some

of your state pride.

Alaska is such an amazingly beautiful and unique place and I feel it

only makes sense to create designs that are equally as dynamic.

When I am feeling the need for inspiration I can easily take a look out

my window or go for a walk/drive. After all, Alaska is my muse!" - Joel Loosli
