Welcome to the Dream Nation Breakfast Club. I am your host, Josh Valentine. Excited to be here with you all, as always, as we meet every single Tuesday from 7:00 AM to about 9:00 AM Eastern standard time. Sometimes we go an hour, sometimes we go up to two. But, uh, happy to be here today. We have a really value packed session lined up for you guys, and we're going to be covering the secret to consistency, how to show up no matter what. So with that being said,. I have some life hacks and fun facts that I wanted to share. The very first life hack that I have for you guys is. What's called a energy booster hack. So this energy booster hack, the way it works is if you're feeling tired, simply drink a glass of water before reaching for caffeine. Dehydration oftentimes feels like fatigue, so that's one of the things that I had to definitely enhance in my morning, morning routine, is just staying super hydrated because I'm a coffee drinker. I love my coffee. But, uh, it is important to just make sure that you're very, very hydrated. And by the way, for those of you who are coffee drinkers, you oftentimes may hear me mention here on the Breakfast Club that you typically wanna wait at least in half a half an hour before drinking your coffee. A lot of people go straight to the coffee pot, and this will actually allow the coffee in the caffeine affects to, uh, be a lot more potent. So a lot of the times, uh, in the morning, your, your brain is kind of defogging, if you will. Yeah, there's a lot of that mental fog that has to clear. And if you give yourself at least 30 minutes, it'll give your brain enough, uh, an opportunity to clear a lot of that mental fog. And then when you finally do drink the coffee, it'll be a lot more effective. So also, just make sure that you're always drinking a lot of water before jumping into your caffeine. Alright, next up we have a brainstorming boost. Which is the next life hack that is, your brain is 60% more creative after taking a 10 minute walk, especially outdoors. And I know that this definitely has been effective for me when it comes to being creative. I, I walk outdoors every single day. It's a big part of my daily routine. And one thing that I can assure you is if, I mean, if you don't walk outside, just give it a shot for like a month. And I can guarantee you that you'll find yourself just having a drastic improvement in your overall self-care. And you'll feel a lot better throughout the course of the day. You'll, again, you, you're going to be a lot more creative as well, and you get to reap the benefits, a lot of the serotonin benefits that you get to benefit from. And serotonin is a mood stabilizer. So when you're out there getting sunlight, it definitely helps with that and so many more things. So, uh, really, really effective. Next up we have the instant gratitude reframe, which is the next life hack and. Basically what you do is you shift your mood fast by listing three things you are excited for in the next 24 hours. Not just grateful for, but actually excited about. So how many of you have things that you're genuinely excited about over the next 24 hours that you can think of? I, I had a, a, as I was doing this exercise earlier, I was just thinking to myself, man, what am I genuinely excited? I could think of tons of things that I'm grateful for, but what am I actually excited about? And sometimes you gotta dig a little deep or you could even just create things throughout the course of the day that you're excited about. Okay, so next we have, let's see here. We have some fun facts for you all. And the very next fun fact that we have is sleep is your secret weapon. Lack of sleep cuts, emotional resilience by up to 70%. Getting good sleep isn't just healthy. It makes you, uh, more powerful. It makes you feel more empowered. So sleep is super important. I always talk about just the benefits of sleep, especially as it pertains to your emotional wellbeing because people forget that whenever you're, you're, you're sleepy or hangry, any of you ever, ever been sleepy and hungry at the same time, it's just not a good combination and it's going to affect the quality of your emotions. So the quality of your emotions determine the quality of your life. Everything that we do is a means to an end emotion. So it is always important to ensure that you're doing everything in your power to take care of your emotions. That's why morning walks are so effective. That's why staying hydrated is so effective. That's why sleep is so effective, because all of these things ultimately influence the way that you feel throughout the course of the day. Very, very essential information right there. Next we have, let's see here. Humans are wired for stories. Our brains process stories 22 times faster than facts. That's why we remember stories for decades. But forget statistics. In seconds, and this is so true. I know one of the things that we oftentimes share in the world of entrepreneurship is facts tell, stories sell or facts tell stories. Compel and stories are really what get people to make a decision in the world of entrepreneurship and stories are, are super effective. We've been telling stories for, for, for since the beginning of time, and it's a big, big part of the human experience is just sharing different stories. So for those of you who, who are entrepreneurs, one of the best things that you can do is get really good at telling stories. And especially for those of you who have young children, I mean, pass on some, insto, some stories. That's how you, you preserve the legacy of your ancestors. I know in Native American culture. They're very big on passing on stories, uh, their, their ancestors, and that's how these ancestors, essentially, their legacy gets passed, passed on throughout generations. So really good share. Next we have, let's see here. I. Okay. You only use about 2% of your brain consciously. The rest, it's busy running your subconscious programs, habits, and autopilot decisions. Think about that. We're only using about 2% of our brain consciously. It's crazy to think that 98% of your brain is pretty much on autopilot. That's why it is so, so important to work on your mindset, work on your personal development, work on your thought processes, the way you think about the work, your mental model, because your perception does ultimately become your reality. The way you perceive the world will determine your human experience. So it is always important to just challenge your belief systems, challenge your, your thinking. Always get around people who are positive for that very reason, because they're naturally going to rub off on you with their, with their thinking. So very, very important. Next, last but not least, when it comes to fun facts are, uh, let's see here. We have physical movement, increases brain growth. Exercise isn't just for your body, it literally creates new brain cells. It's called neurogenesis. So actually heard this term neurogenesis for the very first time this morning. So thought it was a really great share. So yes, working out does contribute to overall brain health. So really, really great. Alright, I see we have people tuning in from all over. We got North Carolina in the house. Virginia, New York, uh, chapel Hill, North Carolina by the way. Uh, we have uh, Trinidad and Tobago. We got Canada, we have Florida. Welcome. Welcome everyone. Happy to be here with you all. We have Texas in the house. Awesome. All right, let's keep the show going next. The next share we have is celebrate your 80th birthday. This is a really great journal prompt, by the way, celebrate your 80th birthday. Of course, this means you haven't turned 80 yet, so let's just say you're, you're, you know, in your younger years or you're about to be 80. Uh, the, the exercise works like this, so you want to visualize your 80th birthday party, write what you would like each person to say about you and the impact you've had on their lives. So really, really great exercise to just contemplate on because think about it, everything that we're doing in this lifetime, wouldn't you want a lot of people to have great things to say about how much of. Uh, how, how much of a contribution you've made in their lives. I know when I think about this, uh, I want people to talk about my character. I want people to share memories of different moments that I may have helped them or added value to their lives, and it's, it's important to reflect on that. I, the best birthday gift that I've ever received, by the way I remember it, was for my 30th, and then my wife did it again for my 35th. But on my 30th birthday, I remember I was around. A group of people, and I completely got thrown off guard with this. And my wife basically got video messages from people all around the world. These were business partners, these were employees, these were just family, friends, coaches, mentors, all of that. And just people sharing birthday love, just loving, loving messages of how I've made an impact on their lives or what I meant to them. And, uh, it was just beautiful. Like I, I never cried so much on my birthday, just actually, uh, witnessing that. And it was a beautiful thing. So it is a great exercise to ultimately reflect on because this is essentially your legacy, the impact that you leave on people's lives. Next is, what one thing can you do this week to help make it a reality? So if you want to be the person known for, let's just say, being generous, you wanna be the person known for not only being generous, but also being a servant leader or whatever. It's. Now, what can you do today that your future self will thank you for? What can you do? You can be more generous, you can have more acts of service or whatever it is. Okay? Next, ask yourself, what legacy do I want to leave? Being effective means taking the time to define the legacy you want to leave regarding your most important relationships and responsibilities. So what would you like your legacy to be? Think about that. How long will your le your legacy live on based on the impact that you've made on, on people's lives? Here's a really great quote by Stephen Covey. Deep within each one of us is an inner longing to live a life of greatness and contribution. To really matter, to really make a difference. Really, really awesome share. Alright, so we're about to jump into the meat and potatoes of today's breakfast club. Have tons of food for thought, no pun intended here. So the secret to consistency, how to show up no matter what. I mean, think about it. Most people in the world, it's either discipline or consistency or a combination of the two that they oftentimes struggle with, or maybe the the one thing that affects them when it comes to accomplishing whatever it is that they want to do with their lives. So what if you can master consistency? Well, the first step to mastering anything is the awareness. It's you. You have to have an understanding of how consistency works. You have to have an understanding that you even need to improve on this area. And I would say if there's anything that comes to mind when it comes to consistency, like. Consistency for me, I believe is my superpower. If I had any superpower, my wife would probably agree with this. If you just asked her what are, what are some of my strengths, it would, it would definitely be consistency. I you think even the Breakfast Club, I always share that here on the Breakfast Club. I've been doing the Breakfast Club now for about a decade and it's just been nonstop consistency. But there are, there are things that contributed to that consistency over the years. So for example, we have a community of people who look forward to jumping on every single Tuesday, and I have a form of accountability. I have people holding me accountable. That's one of the things that fuels consistency. Another thing is operating by a calendar, by a schedule. So everything that I do is scheduled throughout the course of the day, throughout the course of the week, and operating by a schedule that also contributes to consistency. I remember in the early years of my personal development, I would always have these affirmations around consistency. I, I'm the most consistent person I know because it was a, an area of my life that I really wanted to work on. So there's so many things that you can do to sort of reinforce consistency. But one thing that I can assure you is consistency goes a long way. If you want to thrive, if you want to excel, no matter what you're doing in this lifetime, consistency will get you there because consistency is the one thing that will separate you from the rest of the marketplace. The vast majority of the population really struggle when it comes to being consistent. Why is that? Because most of the hard things, like things that we actually need to do to move the needle with the results that we want in our lives, they're, they're not even that hard. They're, they're essentially easy to do, but they're easier not to do. And that's the biggest issue. You are constantly going against this resistance of yourself. You always have this resistance that you're sort of navigating through, and that resistance is that inner me. It's that part of you that you're sort of battling with and overcoming. You have the flesh that you have to ultimately overcome because you're human, body and brain were not desired. They were not designed to keep you happy. They were designed to keep you alive. So your body, your brain is always seeking danger. It's always seeking comfort. It's always doing its best to keep you safe, to keep you alive. So that's what you're up against throughout your entire life. So whether it's being consistent at the gym, whether it's being consistent with your business, no matter if it's being consistent with your relationships, all of these things require work, but your body and your brain is doing everything in its power to keep you safe, to keep you comfortable, because the unknown, the unfamiliar, uncharted waters, all of these things are, are, are essentially, they're, they're, they're scary for, for a lot of people embarking on the unknown. It's, it's terrifying. And your body and brain is designed again to keep you safe and, and to tread lightly. Right? And it is essential to understand how your body and brain works, because your body and brain are ultimately your, your, your, your inner enemy or your enemy, if you will. You navigating through the flesh is going to be one of your greatest challenges. Like what about when you wanna work out and you don't feel like working out? You'd rather be under the covers, super comfortable, and then you're beating up on yourself at the end of the day because you didn't do what you knew, you know you should have done. We could all relate to that. Or maybe you said, you know what? Today I'm going to create some content, and then life gets in the way and you don't create the content and now you have the guilt. And the pain of regret weighs tons. The pain of discipline weighs ounces. So the pain of regret is going to far outweigh the pain of discipline. That's why it is so important to be able to learn how to take action even when you don't feel like it. Learn how to do the things that are necessary to improve your life, to take your life to the next level. And it's just interesting that we live in this great paradox where in order to truly be happy, you have to navigate through resistance. You have to sort of do hard things because then you ultimately grow. And the way human beings are also wired is in order to really feel fulfilled, we have to grow and give. Our entire life has to be dedicated to growing ourselves and giving, but there's no growth without discomfort. That's the hard reality. You have to sort of get uncomfortable, not sort of, you have to get uncomfortable over and over and over again if you're going to do amazing things in your life. So that's why I'm excited to go down the rabbit hole of how consistency works. And I'm sure a lot of you are going to be able to get a lot of value. Many of you are just coming out of our business conference as well over the course of this past weekend. And maybe consistency is the one thing that you have battled with. Maybe it's the one thing you have struggled with. And we're gonna go, uh, and kind of get into the nuts and bolts of how it works. So before we jump into that, I wanna share something on consistency. The mark of a true champion is consistency. After all. Who wants to create results just once in a while? Who wants to feel joyous for only a moment or be at peak performance only sporadically? We want to consistently experience all the emotions. That make life worthwhile. So how do you establish consistency? It's all based on your habits. Knowing what to do is not enough. You must do what you know. And I remember, I, I had this mentor that would always say, do what you know, not what you feel. Because oftentimes we do, I mean, we just don't feel like doing the things that are difficult. We don't feel like doing the things that are hard. So it is always important to just even have a clear vision, give the brain direction of what it needs to do, because a confused mind does nothing. You don't want to just sort of be like a ping pong ball, ping pong ball in a vast ocean subjected to the elements you, you have to tap into your personal power if you're going to get really good at consistency. So let's jump into it. Here we go. Have you ever started something with the burst of energy? Passion only to lose steam a few days or weeks later. Hello. We could all relate to that, whether it's a fitness goal, a business idea, or even just daily habits. We've all struggled with consistency at some point in our lives, but here's the truth. Consistency is the bridge between goals and results. Today, I'm gonna break down exactly how to become more consistent, even when motivation fades, life gets busy and things get hard, I. So let's jump into it. Number one, why does consistency matter? Why does it matter in the first place? Why just not live our lives and do what we feel in the moment? I'm gonna give you guys a few reasons why consistently consistency matters and take notes. We are, as my church always says and cracks me up, they always say we are a note taking community. And they, I mean, they really are. I, they have the, the, the, the paper and the pen there for you with the notes already laid out and you have to like, fill in certain words. But taking notes is vital because it helps you memorize all of these things that we're going over. If I, if you just are. From an auditory standpoint, just consuming this information, you're going to forget probably over 90% of the information that I share with you here today. But if you actually take time to take notes, I can assure you, you'll remember a lot more of this information. There's tons of studies on this, so take notes and take notes as if you're going to have to teach this later on today. Okay? So why consistency matters. First and foremost, it builds trust with yourself and others. I always say one of the worst places to be in life is getting to a place where you can't even trust yourself like you've battled with consistency for so many years. You don't even trust yourself. You, you'll come across a business idea and you're all excited about it, but in the back of your mind, you know that you're not gonna follow through long term. At some point in time, you're just gonna give up on it. There's even a national quitter's day in January. For everybody who starts their new year resolutions and then just quits after like two to three weeks. There's a national quitter's day. People quit things all the time, but not you. It doesn't have to be you. Even if that may have been the case in your past. The beautiful thing about life is that your past does not have to dictate your future. At any point in time, you can reinvent yourself. My great mentor would always say, you are who you say you are until you prove otherwise. So if you identify as a consistent person, just be consistent and have others see your consistency over time. It's like with my fitness journey, you, there's no one in the history of my life that has ever seen me outta shape. I have never been outta shape in my entire life. Some of you're probably like, oh, well, that's good genes. Well, I wouldn't necessarily say that because I'm still in the gym at least three to four days out of the week. At my worst, it's three days out of the week. And I, it's very rare that I'll go over a week without working out. I could probably count with my, my fingers, the amount of times in my life where I've gone over a week without working out. So again, it's just a matter of consistency. And what, what tends to happen is when you're really, really consistent. The, the beautiful thing about being really consistent over a prolonged period of time is you'll have this dissonance inside of you, this part of you that feels off whenever you're not consistent, whenever you're not doing the things that move the needle in your life for the results that you want to get. But consistency, um, always builds trust, like with your family, with your spouse. Think about it. A lot of the times you may have an unsupportive spouse simply because you haven't been consistent throughout your life. You may have people who don't necessarily. Want to do business with you because you haven't been consistent. So consistency goes a long way. And one thing that I can tell you is that consistency is currency. Consistency is currency because you'll build a reputation for yourself as someone who's always consistent. You know how many people invested in me when I launched my company, dream Nation Media, I had tons of people. I had to stop the investments from coming in because people have seen the consistency over the years, over and over and over. And because they've seen the consistency, that's why they were always willing to invest because they know that if I say I'm gonna do something, I'm actually gonna follow through. So be a person of your word. You always want to honor and follow through on what you said you were going to do. Next up we have, it creates momentum. Small actions compound over time. It creates momentum. So for example. The Breakfast Club has probably been one of the things in my life that I've, I've been the most consistent. If there's, there's any great example of consistency at spend, the Breakfast Club, because even when we transitioned online, I can count on one hand the amount of Breakfast club sessions that we missed, and if we did miss it, it was just from, for, for travel purposes, just because I was traveling. Think about it last night, I, I drove in after driving almost, pretty much around seven hours of driving and went to bed late and still am up here serving the community. That's another level of consistency. But you know what? That consistency had currency because a lot of people that I coach today. They see, they have, they, they can jump on and look at years of breakfast club content and see that 99.9% of these breakfast club sessions start exactly right around seven o'clock. It's very rare that it'll pass 7 0 2 or 7 0 3. So again, it's consistency and it creates trust not only within yourself, but with others. And it also creates momentum. That's the big thing. It creates momentum. It'll, it'll permeate across all areas of your life. And as you guys oftentimes hear, how you do anything is how you ev you do everything. There is some truth to that statement. It's not always the case, but it is the case on on most occasions. So if you're consistent with your fitness, chances are you're going to be consistent with a lot of other areas of your life. Okay, next up, why cons consist, why consistency matters is it's more important than intensity. Showing up daily. Beats going hard occasionally. So it's, it's so true. I, I know so many people that they'll have all these, these temporary bursts of, uh, emotions and passion, and they're all excited. They're gung-ho about what it is that they have going on. And listen, I, I see people like that all the time. Like, for example, we have tons of people who just came from our national event that we had in Atlanta, and a lot of people are gonna just come out the gate, super excited, fired up, but then the motivation wears off. How do you keep the consistency going when the excitement wears off? When you're, when you're going through life and you're dealing with all kinds of relationships and the bills of billing and all these different aspects of life are hitting you, how do you manage to navigate through that? So that's why this session is super valuable because we could all relate to that now. The real reasons we struggle with consistency. Let's jump into it. Let's talk about it. First thing is perfectionism, waiting to feel ready or to do it perfectly. Perfectionism. Perfectionism is the assassination to execution. I can assure you that right now. Perfectionism. So many people get caught up and it looking like this. And listen, if I showed y'all some videos of the Breakfast Club when we first started, it was scrappy as hell. Like I looked like the ultimate hippie. I'd be looking scruffy, the backdrop. We didn't have no fancy camera or lighting or anything like that. It was super, super scrappy. I'm actually grateful that I didn't publicly post those videos because that's how horrendous they were. Now, the content was great, but when you looked at just the overall visual, it was like, man, who is this guy? Right? And it's, it's interesting just kind of reflecting on that. But the thing about it is I didn't care because the content was there. The content was good, people were getting value. And I just said, you know what? I don't have all this fancy equipment. I don't have all of this stuff. And today the Breakfast Club is streamed on multiple platforms all over the internet. But back in the day, like the Breakfast Club, it was in a private group just with our personal community. And it's interesting because it, it's like everything wasn't perfect. But I just said, you know what, let me, let me just do it either way. Like, uh, for me, I always say I'm, I, I identify as a certified trigger puller, so I'm not going to be there contemplating whether or not I'm gonna pull that trigger. No, I'm going to take that action and you should too. Whatever it is that you have to do. Sometimes the philosophy isn't ready, aim, fire. No, it's fire. You know, it's, it's fire. Then aim as you fire, right? You have to fire first and, and, and with anything that you have going on. Yeah. There are a lot of occasions where you have to methodically plan things out. I get that, but do not allow yourself to fall into a state of paralysis of over analysis because you're outthinking yourself. I meet so many people who have thought them themselves out of a dream. They just never manage to take action. So it is, it is very, very important. Okay. Now. In terms of the next thing, the real reasons we struggle with consistency. Next is lack of clarity. Not knowing what success actually looks like. You have to have clarity. That's why we oftentimes share, you have to get around the thinking that outthinks you as my mentor would oftentimes say, get around people and see what, like successful people specifically and see what it is that they do that perhaps you don't do. See their habits, see their mentality, right. And observe them and model success. And it's, it's one of the best things that you can do on your journey. And you, you have to ultimately give your brain direction though. It has to know exactly what to do. And it, it's interesting because one of the trainers this past weekend, my, one of my mentors, Matt, he was mentioning just this idea of how fear gets in the way. We have to sort of peel back the layers of fear because fear is the number one culprit when it comes to just the resistance that you'll go through on your success journey. It's the number one thing that'll keep you back from accomplishing whatever it is that you want to accomplish. Now, when I reflected on it on the talk, one of the things that came to mind is I don't think it is, it's fear for me. I don't think it's fear. I think that it's distraction. It was fear years ago, but after doing all of the things that I feared, the fear, I, I don't wanna say disappeared, but it just, it, it became like more and more subtle, if you will. It's just it, it wasn't having a major effect on whether or not I took action. Now, distraction, I. Became the big culprit for me in, in, in recent years. It's just like other things will come up and it'll distract me from doing the deep work, the work that is going to get me to where I wanna be in life. And, and sometimes it's fear and sometimes it's just simply distractions. So that's why it is important to give the brain clarity. Like, I need to tell my brain I'm, I don't know about you all, but I need to tell my brain, do this, this, and this. Because if it's just floating around and just doing what it feels in the moment, I'm not gonna be productive as, or as productive as I would like to be. Okay, next we have, let's see here. Overwhelm. One of the reasons we struggle with consistency, overwhelm, trying to change too much at once. I. In short, doing the most. Whenever you find yourself just doing the most, that's when anxiety creeps in. That's when overwhelm creeps in and you end up just not doing anything. So sometimes the best thing that you can do is just focus on the next thing, like scrap the to-do list and just focus on the next important thing. Whatever's most urgent, whatever's most pressing, whatever, is going to move the needle. Think of a throttle, right? When you step on the gas and you have that, that gauge crank up, that that's the thing that gets the vehicle moving. And there are certain key performance indicators or income producing activity, or just things that you can do daily, lifestyle choices or habits that you can do that'll get the best results. Now, one of the things that I would encourage you guys to do is I identify some of the core habits that are going to get you the best results in life. So I, like a lot of people, don't really take time to think about this. Now, think about it. Uh, you guys oftentimes hear me talk about the five Fs, faith, fitness, family, fortune fund. So let's just kind of compartmentalize these categories and what are the essential things that you need to do to make sure that you are catering to these important areas of your life. So when it comes to faith, for example, perhaps your, your weekly discipline or your weekly lifestyle choice can be one of which, where you integrate prayer and meditation every single day. Or maybe it's reading scripture every single day, listening to worship music or so frequencies, or getting out in nature or going to church or the mosque or the synagogue or the temple, whatever's your thing, right? And that's how you tap in spiritually. And by doing these things every single week, I. It allows you to stay grounded. It, it allows you to stay anchored and pretty much cater and give consciousness to this important area of your life. Because think about it, you're not going to be fulfilled at a deep level if you're disconnected from your spirituality because your spirituality is a part of you. You're, you're not a human being having a spiritual experience. You're a spiritual being, having a human experience. So it is important to always make sure that you're connected with your spirituality. Next, when it comes to fitness, what are daily or weekly lifestyle choices that you can make to stay consistent with your. With your fitness. So I know for me it's again, going for the walk outside, it's getting some exercise, even if it's just three days a week, 20 minutes a day. Anybody can do that. It can be stretching, it can be hydrating, it can be eating healthy food, whatever it is, but find stuff to do. My recommendation is when it comes to your overall fitness, again, you wanna think mental, physical, and emotional fitness. So how do you take care of your mental, physical, and emotional? That's why dieting and, and sleep and hydration and all of these different things are so important because not only does it take care of your physical, but it also takes, takes care of your mental and emotional. Remember, the body and brain are interconnected, so your body is always influencing your brain and your brain influencing your body. So it's the holistic approach to wellness. It's the wellbeing of your whole being. Now, whether it's exercise or maybe it's journaling. A lot of the times journaling is going to help you with your mental health. Mental health is a big thing in today's day and age, and, and journaling can be one of the most effective things that you do. Now, next up, let's just say we have family. The family category is also the relationship category, so it could be family and friends. And when it comes to family, one of the ways that I connect with my kids is in the, in the nighttime, I'm reading them bedtime stories. So we have this, uh, children's bible book, animated book, and, uh, really, really great for just teaching kids stories. And I was, or originally I was creating my own stories, but your boy, there was some nights where that that inner creative was not kicking in and them stories wasn't, they weren't hitting like that. So it is great to have a book that you could actually read to them. Uh, so I, I would originally just kind of create all these random stories or just tell'em stories about my life. Tell'em stories about, um, all kinds of stuff. Sometimes I'll even get story requests from my kids. So for those of you with young children, these are some things that you can implement and get a story request if you're good at storytelling. And I just started reading the book and it helps a lot more. And there's a lot of life lessons, of course. And then I pray with my kids in the night. So that definitely helped. We also, we'll do like pizza night or game night, Friday nights, and then Sundays we take the entire day off just for our family. So that has allowed us, those are lifestyle choices that allowed us to always stay anchored with our family life and always stay grounded with our family life. Now when it comes to, let's just say, and that, and that could be a phone call, checking in on people that you love, all those things. Okay? But you have to schedule'em in. Every single week. Now, when it comes to fortune, fortune is every way you go about your wealth, your legacy, all of that. And of course there are daily habits or income producing activities, key performance indicators, things that you can do every single week, but identify them. Maybe there's a core 12, maybe you have a dozen or so D daily disciplines or weekly disciplines that you commit to that allow you to be consistent and also always get results with whatever it is that you do. But you have to bring enough of your i, I call it your T t's a cornea acronym for your time, energy, and attention. What are you giving your T two? What are you giving your T two? Are you giving it to things that actually bring results in your life that actually bring fulfillment, that actually bring peace, joy? Health, all of that stuff. And lastly, we have fun. So there are certain things that you can do, like celebrate maybe a hard week that you had or celebrate wins or victories along the way. But having certain things that you can implement every single week to make sure that you're having fun. And I know we get together with our friends at least once a week, our, our family, our friends, all of that good stuff. And we just do things. That's why Sundays are important as well, because it's just all about family life. It's all about just doing things to rest and relax and things that we enjoy. But you can do that every single day. Okay? Tons and tons of really, really great things that you can do when it comes to that. But overwhelm is a big, big part of why you're not consistent, because you have to give your brain direction and you have to organize your life, organize it. Don't just leave it up to chance. Don't just do it when you feel like doing it. Organize it. Put all these things on your calendar, and I can assure you that you're gonna be a lot more likely to follow through on them. Next, when it comes to the reason we struggle with consistency, another one is emotional decision making. Only acting when you feel like it. Listen, emotions are a beautiful thing. Many times it can allow you to go beast mode, like when you tap into that inner beasts because you're driven by either inspiration or desperation. And the thing about emotional decision making though, is that it's just very fleeting. It doesn't last very long. It's like the leaves of a tree that just leave. They ain't, they ain't gonna be around. And that's why having good habits, good lifestyle design are like the roots of a tree. Because no matter what storm you're in, the The leaves will go, the branches will go, but the roots. Remain. And the roots are your values, your principles, your habits. All of these aspects of life are your roots, and you have to be intentional about integrating these things into your daily life. Next, we have the real reasons. We struggle with consistency. Um, now, oh, we just covered that. The next one is how to become more consistent. Okay. So I'm gonna give you guys all of, uh, some, some, some really good information on how to become more consistent. Okay? The first one is start small and specific. Start small and specific. Write that down, whatever it is. So you wanna focus on one habit or goal and make it simple and clear. So let's just say 10 minutes of journaling. Not be more mindful, be more mindful, doesn't really give the brain direction. So it's like if you are, if you're a networker and you're, you're, you're building your business, you can't just say, oh, reach out to more people. No, I'm gonna reach out to 10 people for today, or 10 people by 10:00 AM That, that's the idea. So make it simple. Make it clear. It's like when I go to the, when I, when I go to work out, I'm not just saying, oh, well I'm, I'm gonna work out. No, I'm gonna go in and I have a plan. I'm gonna do chest, I'm gonna do shoulders, I'm gonna do legs, I'm gonna do cardio. I'm gonna do whatever it is. But it's a, it's very specific. And usually I know that I'm in and out within 30 minutes. There's no like, oh yeah, today I may do up to two hours or anything like that. I know, like in order for me to have the most effective workout and for me to actually enjoy my workouts, they have to be quick, quick, and to the point. Okay. Next we have create a system. Not just a goal, create a system, not just a goal. Systems make consistency automatic. An example would be schedule your content creation time. Instead of saying, oh, I'll just post more. Don't just be like, I'm gonna post more. No schedule in the exact time that you're going to be, do your content creation. And if it's content creation, you know, that's a creative process. So don't do content creation, uh, a or a creative process around the time you're doing analytical work. Do it during a time where you're most creative. And, and that's why when it comes to calendar optimization, I oftentimes talk about just managing your energy levels. And you have to identify what time of the day that you're most productive. Maybe that's time of the day, you do the hardest thing. And usually in the mornings, you're gonna have a lot more motivation once you get your day going. You're gonna have a lot more motivation than, let's just say, getting beat down by decision making all throughout the day, navigating through the day, the day's challenges, then working out because all of your willpower is depleted by then. And there's a concept in the world of personal development refers to as willpower, depletion, and willpower is a lot like a muscle. So if you're constantly making decisions throughout the day, think about it. It's like a gas tank. You're on E when it comes to your willpower, and you have no motivation to build your side hustle or business or even work out. So that's why you have to systemize the whole process and actually schedule it in next we have make it easy to win. Make it easy to win. I always say, engineer your environment, create a winner's world. So you wanna set up your environment for success and remove friction. So an example would be sleep in workout clothes. If you wanna exercise early. I'm not talking about sweaty workout clothes, y'all, I'm talking about like right out the laundry. Right. But you, you, you may be able to just sleep in your workout clothes just so that you can get right into it and reduce the amount of friction that you possibly have. Okay? I know for me, for example, I live a 32nd walk from my coffee shop. I live a 32nd walk from where I eat lunch throughout the day and all of that. So I, I simply have made my life designed for work at home, for remote work, because most of my businesses I run remotely. I'm not at a physical location. Oftentimes, I, well, I may be at a coffee shop, but I'm working in that coffee shop or wherever I am. You understand? But you have to systemize and engineer your environment. Okay? Uh, now after making it easy to win, we have track your progress, track your progress. So you, you can have these lead indicators or lag indicators. Those are the things that are getting the results and things that simply are not. And when it comes to tracking your pros, your progress, you can use habit trackers or simple checklists. There are tons of things that you can do. Uh, you can see how progress, you know, also builds your motivation. And that's the thing. It's like when you have these checkoff lists, it helps you get more motivation. So I have this app that I would use from time to time. Every now and then I'll still use it. It's called productive. And there are tons of different apps that you can have just these daily checkoff lists list or maybe you have a smartwatch. And on the smartwatch you check off the things that are important for the day. But this also fuels your motivation and your energy. It's interesting, you would think that doing a lot of hard things throughout the course of the day will actually take away your energy. But in fact, when you do difficult things throughout the day, it actually gives you more energy because you're being productive. You feel good, you feel like you're growing. So do the hard things because the more you do hard things, the, the more of a capacity you'll have to do more hard things, if that makes sense. Alright. If you guys are getting value, by the way, so far, drop a v for value. You wanna make sure y'all are still with me. Uh, I'm not sure if you, if you forget, but I am speaking directly to a camera for up to two hours, so it does help to see the engagement in the comment thread. So appreciate you guys. Fdu, for, for those of you who do share the comments and drop a V four value. That way I know you're getting something out of this. Okay. Awesome. Thank you. Thank you. All right, here we go. Next up we have build identity based habits. So you wanna shift from, I want to workout to, I'm the kind of person who doesn't miss workouts. Think about the shift in that mindset. Not just, I wanna workout, like, no, I don't miss workouts. Just that one statement. There's power in that. Like, yeah, I don't even, even just saying, yeah, I don't struggle with discipline, I don't struggle with, with consistency. Like I'm a very, you, you have to vocalize what you ultimately want to internalize. So speak life into your situation. I had a, a mentee who had told me over the weekend how that one time I did a coaching session for someone who always is on the breakfast club, and she had mentioned how there was one thing that I had told her that completely changed her life in, in recent months, and it was never saying something about yourself that you don't want to be true. So in her case, she was working on patients and she would always say how she didn't have patients. And I had basically told her in that setting, and I completely forgot about this, but she had reminded me and I, I said, never say that about yourself again. Never ever say that, oh, I, I struggle with discipline, or I struggle with consistency because this will become a self, a self-fulfilling prophecy in your life. Think about it. How many of you have said this over and over? Oh, I struggle with consistency. Well, I'm not a consistent person. Or I struggle with discipline. How many of us have been guilty of that? Do you think it's going to make it any easier overcoming that aspect of your character? It's not gonna make it easier. So that's why you, you have to speak life into your situation and only say the things that you do wanna be true about yourself. So, yeah, you may struggle with consist consistency temporarily, but you know what? You can just say, I'm working on my consistency. I'm working on my patience, I'm working on my discipline. And this will most certainly help you improve in that area of your life. So next, when it comes to build identity based habits is your actions shape your identity and your identity reinforces your actions. How, how amazing is that, right? Your actions shape your identity and your identity reinforces your actions. And when you get to a point in your life where your identity reinforces your actions, then life sort of becomes like driving a car. Your habits, your lifestyle choices become a lot like driving a car. You don't even have to think about it. It's what's referred to as unconscious competence. You're comp you're competent even without having to consciously think about what you're doing. It's like you don't even have to question whether or not you're gonna work out. It's such a part of your identity that you no longer need to fight to get into the gym. Uh, it's like if you ask me what is the likelihood that I'm going to go to the gym today, it's 10 out of 10. As I was traveling these last couple of days, I didn't work out much. And I know that it's like in order for me to be in alignment with my identity, I have to work out. So it's not even a matter of if it's, it's going to happen. And think about how many areas of your life, like are tied to your identity. Your identity is, is powerful. When you understand how to program your identity so that it's in alignment with who you want to ultimately become, then it will help you stay consistent. Next up, accept imperfection. So we spoke a little bit about perfectionism, but you wanna accept the fact that it's okay being perfectly imperfect. It's okay. Like when I started, for example, like for example, I posted, uh, I'm, I'm almost on 400 videos that have been posted on YouTube and I'm approaching my 400 video. If you go back to the early videos. It was just me pumping out content. I didn't get caught up in the perfection. I didn't get caught up in, oh, let me make sure that this has a viral worthy hook and let me make it all fancy and everything like that. I was just like, look, I need to get the content out. I need to put more content out. So I just put it out and whether or not people liked it or that, that wasn't really the, the, the ultimate goal wasn't for that. It was just to get the value out. You understand, even when I first started the Breakfast Club, like today, you guys see the little fancy banners and, you know, we're live streaming on multiple platforms and all of that. It didn't start like that. It was, it was super scrappy. There was some breakfast clubs. I, I, I mean, I, I, I can probably guarantee that I've done a few even on my phone. And in the early days it was just about doing it, staying consistent, getting the value out, but do not get caught up in being perfect. Now another, another thing is sometimes people beat up on themselves because they miss one day. Missing one day doesn't have to ruin everything. Give yourself some grace. You know, the most productive people in the world, you know what I've discovered? The most productive people in the world always feel like they're not disciplined enough. Lemme not say always, because maybe you're a rare exception, but for most of us, we always feel as if we're not disciplined enough, like we're not doing as much as we can. Meanwhile, we're outproducing the vast majority of the world. But it, it always feels as if you're not doing enough because you identify as a person who, is it a person of execution, a person who, who gets things done, okay? But you have to give yourself grace because that guilt or maybe even that shame, is going to prevent you from taking more action. Okay? So another thing is consistency isn't about being per perfect. It's about not quitting. It's about showing up every single day, even when you don't feel like it. That's what it means to be consistent. Next, we have anchor whatever it is that you wanna be consistent with, anchor it to a trigger. So write that down, anchor it to a trigger. What does that mean? So you wanna pair your new habit with something you already do. Pair your new habit with something you already do. Prime example, when I go for a walk, for example, I pair going for a walk. My, my gym is like in my area. So I, I'll go for the walk and then go directly to the gym right after the walk. And that's how I pair my, my health. Right. Another thing is whenever, um, in the morning I'll do like some gratitude stuff, but then I'll pair it with like prayer, meditation. I'll go in my closet literally every day. I have a, a meditation cushion there, and I'll sit down prayer, meditation. That's my time and I'm pairing it with my, my morning hour of power, if you will. So, tons of things you pair it with. So for example, maybe after you brush your teeth, you'll read one page. I remember what I used to do is before I would go in the shower, I would knock out a bunch of pushups. Like I'd do as many pushups as possible right before jumping into the shower, and I anchored it with it. Okay. So what are some of the things that you already do and how can you anchor some of these, these lifestyle, um, choices? So I remember, I, what, what I would do back in the day too is I would work out and right after working out, I would reach out to my prospects. I had all of this dopamine and endorphins flowing through my body, and that's when I would just reach out to my prospects while I had the energy. So now I'm also clearing my inbox. I'm doing content creation during my workouts. And some of you, that may not be your thing. You may wanna focus just on the workout, but oftentimes I'll just stack it in value. Okay? So maybe after your morning coffee, you can write for five minutes, whatever it is. Okay? Now, uh, here are some really great quotes around consistency. Consistency creates confidence. Consistency creates confidence. And it's so true. I can tell you right now, I, I always joke around and, and, you know, I'll, I'll share the affirmation that I've shared throughout my life, or I've, I've said to myself throughout my life, I'm the most confident person I know. And do I know people who are even more confident? Absolutely. I, I think people like Dion Sanders, like his confidence is through the roof, right? But. A lot of that comes from consistency, showing up for so many years. All right, here's another great quote. Motivation gets you started, but consistency keeps you going. Okay? Motivation gets you started, but consistency keeps you going. And lastly, you don't have to be extreme, just consistent. You don't have to be extreme. You don't have to go bolster the wall with everything that you do. I, I always say I'm, I'm calm, cool, and collected. Like, I'm not the person that's out there doing the most, like for me, it's, I, I'd much rather be the, the, the, the, the turtle than the damn hair sometimes, right? Because sometimes it's just good, slow and steady. We'll win the race. And because the, the hair will just burn out after a while. But just taking those incremental steps every single day over time, you're gonna see a major difference. Now. When it comes to just overall consistency, um, I can assure you guys like in, in my overall life, it's added so much value and I know that it can add so much value for, for you guys. But think about some of the areas you want to improve and how can you be more consistent in those areas. Maybe you wanna change your financial circumstances and perhaps you can be consistent with sticking to a budget. Maybe you wanna get in shape and perhaps your consistency can be in getting on a treadmill for 30 minutes every single day. Maybe you want to be more consistent with your relationship, with your significant other, and perhaps you can schedule in a date night or schedule in certain things that you can do. Maybe you wanna deepen your relationship with your children and you can schedule it in. So if I had to, let's say, draft up a one page manifesto for you guys. It would simply be this, whatever you need to be consistent in to get to the next level in your life, schedule it in right now as I get ready to wrap up, my hope is that you'll be, you're pulling up your calendar right now, schedule it in, but also put reminders on it. Well, when you put things on your calendar, it, it has the ability to notify you and check your calendar every single morning before you get your day rolling. And in the evening as you're winding down, that way your brain knows what it has to expect for the next day. Okay? And this will be one of the best things that you do, is just actually block out your calendar. So if it's working out every day, schedule in the time for your prayer, meditation schedule, in the time for your creative work schedule, in the time for your business building, or maybe you're writing a book and you're gonna schedule in those 10 pages for the day schedule, in your family time, all of these different things. Allow your schedule to be your boss. Like I always say, I'm, I'm a servant to my schedule. Like my schedule is the boss, my calendar is the boss of my life and everything. It, it just works with my calendar. So even when it comes to talking to family members, friends, all of that, I'm always making sure that I'm even scheduling in time to call my family and friends. If you do this, I can assure you that your life holistically will get better. It will drastically get better just as a result of scheduling these things in, going over your calendar every single day and actually following through. And sometimes the hardest part is just showing up. So even if you don't feel like working out, guess what? You'd be amazed by just the process of going to the gym. Just say, you know what? I'm not even gonna work out. I'm just gonna go into the gym and just sit there. I'm gonna, I'm gonna maybe do some content and just sit in the gym. I can assure you, chances are you're probably gonna work out because you showed up. Even if, let's say it's building your business and maybe you just sit down with the work and sometimes it just takes that one word on that. Write the 10 pages a day for that next book. Sometimes it's reaching out to that one prospect just to start the process of reaching out to your 10 prospects a day. Sometimes it's just making the reservation for the date night with your significant other. But what can you do to really change every aspect of your life as we continue on throughout the course of the year? This year is going by fast guys. Every year goes by fast. Let's be honest. Like we were just setting up New Year resolutions for those of you who are in our community. So the year is going by. But how intentional are you about your life? How much does it matter to you? Does it even matter to you to put it on your calendar today? How important, how, how bad do you wanna improve these areas of your life? And if you're really committed and you're really serious about it and you're sick and tired of being sick and tired, and you're in a desperate need for changing your life, start by lifestyle design. Start by taking the time to get all these things on your calendar. And you know what? Challenge yourself and do not beat up on yourself when it's not perfect. Do not beat up on your day. Be uh, on yourself because you went two or three days without doing the work. Get back on track. Allow this north star to sort of be the ya in your life. So no matter how much you may deviate off track, no matter how much life starts lifeing, and you kind of lose focus, it'll always reel you back in and you find yourself going back in alignment with that North Star and getting back on track with those goals. So schedule it in and put it on the calendar for the rest of the year and set a goal for yourself to accomplish as many of those things as possible. And if you can't accomplish every single thing, it's okay. Focus on your three to thrive, your big three for the day, whether that's working out prospecting, content creation, whatever it is, parenting going on a date night. But focus on the three main things, and this is what'll happen when you accomplish those three things, you end up getting more motivation to do even more of the things on that to-do list. Okay, so as we wrap up, just to recap everything. Remember, when it comes to being more specific, start small and specific. Create a system, not just a goal. Make it easy to win. Track your progress. Build identity based habits. Accept imperfection, anchor it to a trigger. And as we wrap up here, remember, you don't have to be the most talented, the smartest, or even the most motivated person in the room, but if you are consistent, you'll win every time.
