today's session is going to be on the power of not giving up. Life has a way of testing us, right? Especially when we're closest to our breakthroughs. And in those moments when we feel tired, when we feel unseen, when we are even questioning whether or not it's even worth it your future is being written. And the people who win in life aren't necessarily the most talented. They're the ones who just simply refuse to give up. So today's topic is all going to be on the power of not giving up, I'm sure. Everybody can relate to this at some point in time when we've gone through a moment in our lives. We've gone through a season in our lives where things just got really difficult and we didn't necessarily feel like continuing on. And today, I today I really wanna talk to those of you who are. Probably at the brink of giving up on whatever it is that you're currently working on. And I know a thing or two about this over the years, especially on my entrepreneurial journey, just navigating through so many different challenges. And a shout out to everybody who was recently at our creator's conference this past weekend at the James Museum in St. Pete, Florida. It was absolutely incredible. And when I think about the Creators Conference, I think about that being a moment where just. Or the journey of it being so intense and so challenging that you do have those moments where you question, you doubt, you wonder whether or not it's even worth it. And when you finally get to the other side. Then you can truly have an appreciation for it. And that's how I felt coming out of the event, just having so many people come up to me and thank me for such an incredible event and the value that they received from the event. Again, we'll have those moments from time to time where we're, when we're working on really big endeavors, we're working on just projects that consume a lot of us. But if it's truly worth it, if it's in alignment with what you're here to do. Then there is hope on the other side. Let's jump into it. Today's session, by the way I highly recommend you guys share it. Light, comment, tag, all that good stuff, and most certainly helps get the message out there. So I appreciate all of you who share the Breakfast Club on a consistent basis. And one of the things that I wanted to share as well is I had mentioned over these last few weeks we have a really awesome way to close out the last quarter. For those of you who are. Looking to reach your financial goals? We launched our mastermind community, the Monetize Your Mission Mastermind community, and it's all centered around helping you get to at least$2,000 a month in income with your specific expertise from coaching, consulting, speaking different ways you can monetize your mission online. And that's what the community is centered around. So we just launched it for the very first time. We got it kicked off at the Creator's Conference. Super excited for this community. If that is you, if you're someone who is looking to just take your expertise to the next level, shoot me a dm. I'll be more than happy to answer any questions about the program. We had a few scholarships available as well, so if you have questions regarding that hit me up. I'll be more than happy to get that information over to you. Let's jump into it. When you feel like giving up, remember why you started. That's, I would say if there's anything that could wrap up the overall session here that we're gonna be talking about today. One of the things that came to mind in those moments where it just got so, so difficult was remembering why I got started in the first place. Remembering the prize, remembering what's on the other side, and just that process alone, like getting immersed in the reward. That's what helped build that resilience during those very difficult moments. So whatever it is that you're currently working on, I highly encourage you go back to the why. Go back to why you got started in the first place, but also just immerse yourself in the vision of what your life is going to look like. Because we tend to have a tendency of really focusing on the negative, focusing on the obstacle, focusing on what's not working. Focusing on what, where we're not. And when you do that it is highly discouraging, especially when things aren't really taking off. And the reality of most things that you're gonna work on in life is that typically costs a lot more than you expected. And it takes a lot longer than you expected. But the beautiful thing about that is that you really do build a certain degree of resilience. You cultivate and fortify your mind, your emotions. You learn how to navigate through different challenges it really draws out the very best in you. So that's what it's all about. And then when the journey takes a lot longer than you want it to, the truth of that really is the fact that you cultivate patience in the process. So that's what I really want you guys to walk away with, is embracing the journey, understanding that the journey is really going to account for 99% of the whole process. The destination really is less than a percent of the overall experience. So how do you embrace the journey and really fall in love with the person that you're becoming? I remember Jim Rohn, he would oftentimes say don't aspire to be a millionaire. He said, aspire to be the person you need to become in order to obtain a million dollars. So think about that. If you become a person worthy of your vision of what it is that you truly want for your life how much better are you than you are today? So that's what it's about. And for me I've noticed over the years that a lot of things definitely took so much longer, but I end up stronger. I end up wiser, I end up more resilient. And I love the the saying that God answers prayers in three ways. Those three ways are either going to be yes, not now, or I've got something even better. Yes. Not now. Or, I've got something even better. And I love that because when you think of the, not now, oftentimes we have this timing in our minds, right? It's like the Russian proverb that says, man makes plans and then God laughs. Because we typically have these plans of when we want to accomplish certain things. For example many of us are like, oh I wanna be a millionaire by 25. I wanna buy my first house at 25. I want to have all of my children get married at this specific age. And the issue with that is, what if there's certain things that you have to work on? What if you're not the person that has the capacity for that level of responsibility or emotional maturity? So really fall in love with the person you have to become to obtain the things that you want. Remember, success is not something you obtain. Success is something you attract by the person you ultimately become. So focus on becoming the person and success will follow. So here's the reality of struggle. Okay? Now when you think about it, most people think success comes fast. But what really builds greatness is the grind that no one sees. It's the foundation building process. We're oftentimes glorified in public for work that's not so glorious in private. So we're praised in public for what we do in private, and a lot of people don't realize that the process in private it, it really doesn't look so glorious. It's easy to look at the skyscraper. And see this beautiful building that was just constructed and you don't really realize that there was a whole foundation building process that accounted for. The majority of the process accounted for the majority of the building, of that very building. So you have to embrace the foundation building process because that's ultimately what builds the resilience. Okay? And here's the uncomfortable truth. There's always a season. Where nothing seems to be working, but that's where the character is being built. When you still press on, no matter what if life is really just testing you to see how bad you really want it? What if life is ultimately cultivating your appreciation for that very thing? Because here's the hard truth I remember. When I was first building one of my businesses, and it took me almost seven years to hit the very top rank of that business. And I put a lot of effort. I built sales teams of thousands of people all around the world, and it was very difficult to get to that level. And I remember the second time around when I hit a high level in my next company that I had partnered with. I remember walking stage for just being awarded, but it didn't feel as significant as the first go round because the first go round was way more difficult. It took way more time, way more effort. And it's interesting how that works. You value things that you really work hard for, things that you had to struggle for. It's like the creator's co conference. My, my business partner and I we felt so. Filled with just fulfillment after the event because the work that we had to put in to really pull it off in a short period of time. So that's what it's about. It's embracing the struggle because you understand, you have this deep knowing that on the other side of getting what it is that you want, there's gonna be far more appreciation, the residual joy that you get from the satisfaction. Following through on doing something that was very challenging. So here's one thing that I understand about overall life, like my specific journey, the things that were super, super difficult. So I think of football was like my very first journey into doing something that was really difficult, right? And stepping on a field with guys that were twice my size. And having the courage to continue to push forward even when it was difficult, even when I wasn't getting much playing time at the very beginning and continu continuing to press forward, right? And on those days where you just didn't feel like getting up, but you build that resilience, you build that grit, the more you do things that are uncomfortable, the more resilience you build over time. I remember that, that process of, man, it's just very difficult, but you still show up. They say that over 90% of success is really just showing up. So football was like that very first journey. And then I remember going off to college and man, I remember so many all-nighters pulling, so many all-nighters, just writing assignments, writing essays and pages of page and pages of research. And it was just so daunting. Then the process of becoming a merchant mariner and working out at sea, and I remember I was working on my captain's license and having to train under a lot of different captains, many of which who are very difficult to work with. Many who would say things that the average man probably would've put some hands on that brother because it that's how disrespectful some people you have to. Tolerated at times when you're working on your way up, there are certain things that you can sit there and fight back, but sometimes it is just not worth it. And many of you who work corporate America, you know exactly what I'm talking about. You're working so hard on that promotion that sometimes you might let a few words slide. And I remember going through that process like. A captain that I'd be working with will say something very disrespectful and yeah you have those boundaries. You set those boundaries. But you have to understand that when you know there, there are high stakes sometimes you have to have that humility and be willing to learn. Be willing to not to say kiss ass or brown nose, if you will, but there, there are those moments where you have to swallow your pride. Because you, you feel like just saying something right and you're like, you know what? Sometimes it's just better not to say anything. And I remember going through that process and finally getting the license and what really got me through was understanding the prize. I understood that I would've obtained the credential that I would be able to have for the rest of my life and essentially always have a fallback plan through entrepreneurship. And it ended up paying. Really well down the road. It was the best thing that I ever did. But imagine if I just gave up in the process because it was just so difficult. I remember it taking so much longer. There were people who were going through the program a lot faster than me and just being discouraged about that, but continuing to press forward. I remember going into entrepreneurship and just. Really navigating through every obstacle you could possibly imagine. So many different challenges going through the pandemic. Seeing a business that you poured your blood, sweat, and tears into. Just crumble right before your eyes and having to start over. Having to build from scratch. Having to draw deep within myself and build myself up and navigate and pivot and adapt over and over. But. You don't start from scratch. You start from experience as you oftentimes hear, so reminding yourself of what you've overcome that's the beauty about going through struggle, is that now you have a reference point. The next time you go through struggle, you remember what you've gone through in the past, and that gives you the encouragement to continue to press forward. Because remember, none of us are exempt from struggle, especially if you wanna do great things in your life. In fact, I wouldn't even encourage avoiding struggle because the obstacle is the way you have to go through the struggle if you're truly going to become the person you were called to become. So leaning into it, embracing it, okay, now there's so many moments. On your journey where you're gonna go through these emotional rollercoasters. Sometimes the emotional rollercoaster is frustration. Sometimes it's fatigue, sometimes it's doubt. Sometimes it's in imposter syndrome, not feeling worthy of obtaining the very thing that you want. And remember that the enemy on your journey oftentimes is going to be the inner me. It's going to be you battling. With the six inches between your ears, you battling with those thoughts. And if you can learn how to overcome yourself, then you'll be far more successful. But you have to understand how to navigate through your emotions, especially on the days where you don't feel like showing up. So there were so many turning points for me on my journey and that's why it's so important to follow people who have what you want in life. I always say that don't take advice from someone you wouldn't be willing to trade places with in that specific area. So if someone's given you advice on marriage, but they haven't been married ever or maybe they're not the best with their relationships, like, why would you take advice from someone like that? But you listen to those whispers on the wind you listen to people who share their testimonials and sometimes. Those are really the turning points when you hear someone share some piece of wisdom that helps you navigate through exactly what you were going through. And I know over the weekend at our creators conference, so many people got to hear from these really inspiring stories. And sometimes it's just that, that one sentence that changes everything. So that's why it is good to learn and study history, study those who've come before you and see how they navigated through all these different challenges. Now remember this, persistence isn't about feeling motivated all the time. In fact, on most days you're probably not gonna feel motivated, and that's why it's so imp comp. It's so important to have a compelling vision because when motivation can no longer push you, your vision will pull you. Your vision will get you up in the morning when motivation can't. This morning I did not feel like getting up. We were hosting our friends over the weekend. Yesterday we were at our Airbnb pretty much till about midnight and finally checked out and it was just very exhausting after a long weekend of serving and pouring into other people and hosting and all these different things and to show up still for the Breakfast Club. Very difficult. But the vision is what pull you, pulls you, the accountability people counting on you the your calling. Is what pulls you. So remember this, quitting guarantees failure, pushing through guarantees growth. And I love the saying with most things in life, there's really no way to fail unless you quit. So if you just keep pressing on there, there'll be times where you may have to adapt, you may have to switch your approach, maybe you have to take a temporary break. And I wanna make something very clear here. Deciding that something is no longer for you is not quitting. It's not necessarily quitting. Quitting is when you stop doing what you know you were called to do, and you just give up on it all together. You say, you know what? It's too hard. I'm throwing in the towel. Now, if it's very difficult and you have a lot of strain and you have to pivot and perhaps take a little break, take a little bit of a sabbatical. And reset, or maybe you have to get flushed with cash so that you can pay off those bills. That's a different story, but it's about just staying on the journey and not giving up on yourself. So here's a really great question for you all. What's an area of your life right now where you've been thinking about giving up, and what would it cost you? What would it cost your family? What would it cost people that you serve? You did. So an area of your life right now that you've been thinking about giving up, maybe it's on that weight loss journey and you set some new year resolutions to lose 20 pounds and you said, you know what? Next year I'll start over. There's no next year it's now. Because you have no idea what next year will bring. And you have to have that mindset, you have to have that mindset where there's a sense of urgency instead of just putting things off. For tomorrow. Just get after it. That's why it's always essential to be in alignment with your north star being what you really want for your life and how you wanna live, how you see yourself down the road. So I wanted to cover also the psychology of not giving up. So one thing you have to understand is that the mind works certain it operates in a certain way when it's under pressure. The mind is wired for comfort. So whenever you're going through a very uncomfortable situation, whenever you're navigating through the unknown, it's very common to go into a sympathetic nervous system where your body's and your brain is in fight or flight, or maybe even freeze. So it's like trying to run away from the problems or perhaps step up and fight. Altogether, just not do anything at all, and you end up having paralysis of over analysis. So understanding that the mind works under pressure is super valuable or how it works under pressure is super valuable because sometimes really on this journey, it's just a matter of calming your nervous system, calming yourself down. Self-care is the best care and having some form of self-care to relax yourself. Remember this, every time you don't give up, you're rewiring your brain for resilience. You're building your self-esteem, you're building your confidence. So perseverance builds self-trust. Every time you keep your word to yourself, you grow stronger in the process. So it, it is super, super important to show up for yourself. Build your momentum. Get those small wins, right? Reflect back on those wins. Remind yourself of how strong you really are and what you've overcome over the years. Now remember too, it's not just about achieving the goal, it's about who you become in the process of refusing to quit who you become in the process. Think about this when you go to the gym. The only way you get in shape is by tearing your muscle, is by putting that muscle through stress, by going through some form of struggle, and you have to go through so many different reps. And growth is only going to happen after the even. Even those failure reps. Those reps where you can't even push any further because you've reached your capacity. That's how you grow. And life works very similar. If you want to get to the highest level, remember the hard is what makes it an opportunity. If it weren't hard, would it be much of an opportunity? Would you even value it? Would you cherish it? Probably not. Think about Thomas Edison attempted to make the light bulb about a thousand different times. His mindset wasn't, I failed a thousand times. His mindset was I found a thousand ways not to do it. Remember, failure isn't necessarily failure. Failure is feedback. Failure will show you another way to not do what it is that you need to do, or another way to pivot, another way to enhance the very way that you go about your dreams. And here's a really practical tool. You can create a never give up anchor, perhaps a mantra or photo that reignites your purpose when you are attempted to quit. I remember I, I would have this photo by my door and it was a of a football a guy holding a football helmet and his glove looks like. The glove had seen better days like it, it had lasted through World, world War iii just like he was in the trenches and the helmet is all muddy and everything like that. And it said, never give up on it. Never give up. And looking at that photo was always a reminder that no matter how difficult it was being in the game getting my fingernails dirty. No matter how difficult it was, just being in the trenches, blood, sweat, and tears, just doing the thing over and over, I had to have that mindset of just I, I'll never give up on myself. And it's one of the best things that you can do. Just a never quit mindset. Now there's so many different stories when it comes to perseverance, and that's why I like, I love reading biographies because when you actually. Just go through what people had to endure. To build what it is that they build, especially the entrepreneurs the billionaire entrepreneurs, what they had to endure. People like Colonel Sanders rejected, could you imagine being rejected over a thousand times and if he hadn't gone through that Thousand knows there would be no KFC. And he did this in his sixties, imagine going decades of your life just failing, not winning. And then in your sixties, you finally hit your breakthrough, but you had to go through over a thousand pieces or a thousand moments of rejection. I can only imagine how he felt once things really took off. You think of people like JK Rowling, right? The author of Harry Potter. She was broke, depressed, and rejected by 12 different publishers before. Harry Potter took off, and today she's one of the most successful authors of all time, and there's so much more that she had to go through. You think of Michael Jordan, a lot of people just look at the highlights. They look at the six rings that he got in the NBA, but what they don't realize is that Michael Jordan also got cut from his team as a freshman, and that fueled him over the years. Michael Jordan also did not go straight into the NBA. He actually. Went on to play college, he played some college basketball. And it's interesting because so many people really look at the glorious side. You think of even Tom Brady. Tom Brady was not a number one draft pick or even a number 10, or even a number 20 draft pick. He was the underdog and he went on to become one of the greatest athletes of all time. So again. When it comes to your journey where are you with your specific journey? Where are you in the, on the hero's journey? Are you in the valley and you're like, man, I don't know if I can continue this. I don't know if I can continue pushing forward, but what if you do and you do get to the other side? Or what if you don't and you revert backwards? What does that look like for you five years out, 10 years out, 15 years out, and. If I go back, like I mentioned this the other day, to someone that if I knew how hard it was going to be and how long it was going to take to get to this point, I probably would not have continued on. Like honestly, if you showed me the process, I would I would've been like, nah, there's no way. There's no, oh, I have to wait that long. That long before things actually take off, oh, there's no way I'm gonna stay safe. I'm gonna keep my job. But if I knew what it would look like on the other side and how I would feel about the journey, how much reverence I would have in appreciation I would have for the journey, then I would've continued forward. So that's why it's so important to put your focus on the vision as opposed to. The process because the process if you focus too much on that man, it's taken too long, or I can't deal with all of this rejection, right? I can't deal with constantly struggling. If you put all of your focus on that, remember what you focus on expands it's going to make it more of a reality for yourself. So that's why it's important to focus on the end result. You guys oftentimes hear me talk about the NASCAR analogy. When NASCAR drivers are trained, they're focused. To always look in the direction they want to go when they're sliding out of control and they're heading in the direction of a wall. What they've learned over the years was if those NASCAR drivers looked at the wall, they were far more likely to crash into the wall. However, if they put all of their focus in the direction they want to go, the car will be far more likely to go in that direction. So that's the important thing when you're going through the difficult circumstances. Put as much of your focus on the destination as you possibly can. Now, one thing that I can tell you is staying consistent has reaped so many benefits. It's like the Breakfast Club. If I had not showed up every single week for years, I've been doing the Breakfast Club now for about 10 years, and the first five years were in person. Literally meeting and it wasn't just Tuesdays, it was like six days a week meeting at a coffee shop or meeting at a food court with a bunch of different people who would come out and learn. And over the years I just kept it going and stayed consistent and there was just so much value that came out of staying consistent. So much opportunity that came out of staying consistent. I would not have the Journey podcast today. My company, dream Nation Media, none of that would be possible. Creators Conference would not have been possible if it wasn't for that consistency and the community that was built out of that consistency. There were so many people during the pandemic that were in my line of work when I first got started, and unfortunately they couldn't pivot simply because they weren't necessarily consistent. It was very difficult sometimes consistency. Is where your greatest value lies, because the vast majority of the world struggle with being consistent. There's so many things pulling at them. So consistency is one of the best things that you can do, especially for those of you who want to monetize your mission online. Now, moving forward, remember this, the people who win in life are just the ones who outlasted, the ones who gave up. How powerful is that? Think about someone you admire. Chances are it's not necessarily the person, per se. It's like their qualities that you admire. You may not even admire every aspect of that individual, but you admire their hustle. You admire their passion, their enthusiasm, their determination. It's the characteristics that we ultimately want to embody as people. So remember. Persistence doesn't mean ignoring pain. It means using pain as feedback. That's what persistence is all about. It's continuing forward and learning from your mistakes. Learning from the struggle. Remember, there's always treasure in that trash. Every challenge is a test to see how much you really wanted. How bad do you really want? What it is that you're working for? What are you willing to go through? What are you wi willing to endure? That's why whenever you embark on a new journey, it is essential to really ask yourself, what am I willing to do to bring this into reality, to bring this into fruition? What am I willing to endure? What am I willing to go through? And if the dream is big enough, you'll do everything in your power to make it happen. And, but that doesn't exempt you from the fear. Remember, if your dreams don't scare you, they're simply not big enough. Your dreams should challenge you. They should stretch you. They should push you to your limit because it's about the person you become in the process. Okay, so moving forward there's an emotional process that comes from enduring. There's. There's a forging in the fire that's happening. The patience, the humility, the self-discovery that all come from enduring. So that's why I always say fall in love with the person that you're becoming. Never giving up isn't about stubbornness. It's about alignment. It's saying, I know this is what I'm meant to do, so I'm willing to endure it until it manifests. Until it happens, until I bring it to life. Now, here's some practical takeaways. Number one, redefine failure. Remember, failure or every failure is a lesson, not a label. Just because you may have quote unquote failed on something, doesn't necessarily make you a failure, okay? It doesn't label you for life that, oh, this person is a failure. In fact. How many of us have so much respect for people who failed and bounced back and found their way? So it's not the end all, be all. Number two is set milestones. Celebrate your progress, right? Celebrate progress, not perfection. It's not about being perfect. It's interesting because at the conference there was so many things that didn't necessarily go as planned. There was a moment during the entire process where I just let go of perfection. I was like, man, this, it is what it is. That's not what it's about. It's about providing the value to the people. It's about people walking away with an experience. In fact, the majority of people in attendance probably didn't even catch 99% of things that didn't go as planned. So don't get caught up in perfection because perfection will always be. One of the greatest enemies to execution. Celebrate the progress. How much you're growing. And there was so much during the event that we learned that's just so valuable. It was such great feedback for our future events. So that's what it's about. Number three is create a support circle. So surround yourself with people who remind you why you started. It was so beautiful because I got to hang around a lot of my closest friends. We were all, we booked out an entire a huge home that slept 22 people and we just, I got together with my tribe and we were there just hanging out, talking, and I was just sharing with them how much gratitude and appreciation I had for them, especially during the darkest moments of my life, because they were the people that I call when I was going through these challenges. They were the people that I went to for help and it is essential to have that support circle because sometimes your friends will really fill your cup and encourage you to keep pushing forward. Sometimes you hear their struggles and then you're like, you know what? This ain't that bad. Some of you know exactly what I'm talking about. Number four is revisit your vision weekly. Weekly. Don't let your vision go on the back burner. Don't let life just beat you down to the point where you stop dreaming. You lose that flame. Write it down, speak it, feel it, visualize it every day. Fall in love with the idea of visualizing you obtaining what it is that you want. Sometimes when things get so hard. I'm so inundated with the thoughts of everything that I'm up against. I have to say, you know what? Let me think about how I'm gonna feel once I get to the other side. Okay? So revisit your vision weekly. And number five is develop emotional endurance. When you feel the urge to quit, do one small thing that keeps you moving forward. There are so many days where I just don't feel like doing anything. And I remember in the early days of entrepreneurship, like the rejection was just so much that I just had so many days where I did not feel like going through the process of rejection. And I remember I would just always be intentional about doing something that will get me closer to the goal line. You guys oftentimes hear me say that I love the saying that success is a game of interest because sometimes you want to go. Many yards. You want that 30 yard pass to get that touchdown. You want that big play that, that is gonna get you so much closer to the goal line. But you know what? Life just doesn't work that way. Sometimes all you're gonna get is an inch, but you know what? That inch is still closer to the goal line. And that's why life is such a game of interest because. There'll be moments. You get many yards and there'll be days where you may get a few feet and there'll be days where maybe you just get an inch, but it's still closer to the goal line and embrace that inch and honor yourself for just still doing something. And that's why I was so adamant over the years about doing some kind of personal development that way I didn't waste the day. There was always something that was growing me and stretching me. And there, there were honestly days where I would just read, but I remember a life coach that I was working with years and years ago, in my twenties, she would tell me that I have to make sure that I'm not hiding behind the personal development either, because a lot of people will justify them being productive. They'll say oh, I'm being productive'cause I'm reading the book. But really, that, that book is not what's getting them closer to their goals. So I always had to remind myself, okay, if I don't feel like going through rejection today, lemme just focus on one person. Lemme focus on the next person that I was gonna reach out to for my opportunity for my product. Okay? Remember this. Champions aren't made when everyone's watching. They're made in silence when no one believes but them. So just to wrap up the practical steps for you guys. Number one, read the Redefine failure. Number two, set milestones. Number three, create a support circle. Number four, revisit your vision weekly. And number five, develop emotional endurance. So as we get ready to close out, I want you to remember that no matter how hard things have gotten for you, here you are listening to me and you're still breathing. You're still going strong and you still have purpose. Remember that the dream you carry was placed inside of you for a reason. It's one of the most sacred aspects of your life. And when the road gets dark, your persistence is proof that you are destined for something greater. That persistence inside of you. So to wrap up. Remember this, the moment you decide you won't quit, life starts bending in your favor. There's just something about being so damn stubborn and making a decision that you will figure it out by any means necessary. There's something about how the universe bends to your will because of how this determined you are as a human being. So ladies and gentlemen, breakfast is served.
