You're listening to the Dope Daily Audio Bible, and I'm your guy, pastor Charlie Mitchell. And today we're looking at Second Samuel, chapter nine. Let's roll. David asked, is there anyone remaining from the family of Saul I can show kindness to, for Jonathan's sake? There was a servant of Saul's family named Zeba. They summoned him to David, and the king said to him, are you zebra? I'm your servant. He replied. so the king asked, is there anyone left of Saul's family that I can show the kindness of God to? Zeba said to the king, there is still Jonathan's son who was injured in both feet. The king asked him, where is he? zebra answered the king. You'll find him in Lobar at the House of Macke. son of Amel. So King David had him brought from the house of Macke. Son of Amel in Lobar. Mephibosheth, son of Jonathan, Son of Saul came to David, fell face down and paid homage. David said, Mephibosheth, I'm your servant. He replied, don't be afraid. David said to him, since I intend to show you kindness for the sake of your father, Jonathan, I will restore to you all your grandfather Sauls fields and you will always eat meals at my table. Mephibosheth paid homage and said, What is your servant that you take an interest in a dead dog like me? Then the king summon Saul's, attend Zeba and said to him, I have given to your master's grandson, all that belong to Saul and his family. You, your sons, and your servants are to work the ground for'em, and you are to bring in the crop. So your master's grandson will have food to eat. But Mephibosheth, your master's grandson, is always to eat at my table. Now, Zeba had 15 sons and 20 servants. Zeba said to the king, your servant will do all my Lord the king commands. So Mephibosheth ate at David's table just like one of the king sons Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Micah. all those living in Zebra's house were Mephibosheth's servants. However, Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem because he always ate at the king's table. His feet had been injured. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, I pray that we realize that you are the king that shows kindness that we could never earn. David showed Mephibosheth all kinds of love, sought out Mephibosheth, not because he deserved it, he just went looking for him because he had made a promise to him long before he ever even knew it. Even though Mephibosheth was overlooked, he was broken, he was cast aside. David went looking for him. Just like you come looking for us. So we don't earn your grace. We don't work our way into your favor. You come looking for us. So thank you, Jesus, that through you we're invited to the table, not as outsiders, but as sons and daughters. I pray that you'd help us to receive that kind of grace without any, any shame attached to it, and to extend the same kindness to other people, especially those that everyone else seems to overlook. Make us people who remember where we came from but don't live stuck there because you've given us a new place and a new identity. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
