You're listening to the Dope Daily Audio Bible, and I'm your guy, Pastor Charlie Mitchell. And today, we're looking at 1 Chronicles chapter 20. Let's roll. In the spring, when kings march out to war, Joab led the army and destroyed the Ammonites' land. He came to Rabbah and besieged it, but David remained in Jerusalem. Joab attacked Rabbah and demolished it. Then David took the crown from the head of their king, and it was placed on David's head. He found that crown weighed seventy-five pounds of gold, and there was a precious stone in it. In addition, David took away a large quantity of plunder from the city. He brought out the people who were in it and put them to work with saws, iron picks, and axes. David did the same to all the Ammonite cities. then he and all his troops turned to Jerusalem. After this, a war broke out with the Philistines at Gezer. At that time, Sibbecai, the Hushathite, killed Sipai, a descendant of the Rephaim, and the Philistines were subdued. Once again, there was a battle with the Philistines, and Elhanan, son of Jair, killed Lahmi, the The brother of Goliath of Gath. the shaft of his spear was like a weaver's beam. There was still another battle at Gath where there was a man of extraordinary stature with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in all. He too was descended from the giant. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan, son of David's brother Shimeah, killed him. these were the descendants of the giant in Gath killed by David and his soldiers. Let's pray. Dear Jesus, I pray that we know that you give us the victory. The battles we face are not won by our own strength, but by the power that you give to us. So we see giants fall and enemies defeated in this chapter. It's a reminder that nothing is too big for you, and we can trust you whenever we face mountains, giants, obstacles that lay before us. so help us to face the outstanding difficulties in our own lives with faith instead of fear. Whether it's anxiety, temptation, disappointment, doubt, whatever it is, remind us that you are greater than what's standing in front of us. Give us the courage to keep trusting you when the battle feels long and overdrawn. Jesus, thank you that You have already won the victory through the cross. Because of you, sin doesn't have the final word over us. Death doesn't have the final word, and fear definitely doesn't have the final word. So help us to live with that kind of confidence each and every day. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
