Simple Discipleship - UNFILTERED
Evangelism Unleashed
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
What happens when ordinary believers step out of their comfort zones and into the work of evangelism? Sister Diana and Cody take us on their journey from nervous first-timers to confident witnesses for Christ after attending a transformative training event with Saturate Global ministries.
The episode begins with Cody sharing his heartwarming beach proposal story, where he enlisted the help of his fiancée's young son to bury his mother's ring in the sand. This touching family moment beautifully illustrates how God weaves our stories together, creating "three-string cords not easily broken."
Their evangelism adventure started when Diana spotted a free conference featuring Parker and Jesse Green, known for baptizing thousands during COVID lockdowns in California. The training introduced them to the SALT method—Start conversations, Ask questions, Listen, Tell them about Jesus—but putting it into practice proved challenging until they surrendered completely to the Holy Spirit's guidance.
"We stopped right there and started praying. When you surrender, that's all the Father wants. He's like just surrender all to me," Cody explains. That simple shift transformed their experience as they offered prayer to strangers at an outdoor mall, ultimately leading several people to salvation decisions.
The most powerful revelation came when they realized evangelism isn't reserved for those with a special "title." The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in every believer, empowering anyone who yields to His leading. This truth catalyzed Cody to set up a table at a local park with a sign reading "Do you need to talk?"—a step of obedience that resulted in five meaningful encounters and salvation decisions in a single morning.
If you've ever felt inadequate to share your faith or believed evangelism was someone else's calling, this candid conversation will challenge and inspire you to recognize the power already dwelling within you. What might happen if you simply made yourself available and surrendered to God's leading today?
I would love your feedback and topic suggestions!

Introduction to Simple Discipleship Unfiltered
Speaker 1Hey y'all, welcome to Simple Discipleship Unfiltered. I'm your host, Sister Diana. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey today. Can we be real? Being a Christian is not always easy, but you are not alone. So grab you a drink, grab you a snack. Let's open the word and see what Jesus has to say today. Hey, welcome to Simple Discipleship Unfiltered. I'm Sister Diana. I'm so happy to be joined with my brother, cody, here today.
Speaker 2Hey guys.
Speaker 1Hey, cody, how you been.
Speaker 2I've been great.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, nothing has really changed other than the faith with God.
Speaker 1Nothing has changed. I mean, you've had a tremendous life event happen.
Speaker 2Well, I'm saying nothing.
Speaker 1And as your fiance is sitting here, you better say something really good. You got me on that one.
Cody's Beach Engagement Story
Speaker 2What I meant was nothing has changed from no backwards, it's just glory to glory, really living it.
Speaker 1So tell us about your engagement. What did you do?
Speaker 2It's a funny story, because I took her to. Well, she wanted to go to the lake. We love going to the lake, the three of us me, her and her son Nico and I didn't know what I was going to do, I didn't know how it was going to look like, and then I got this idea. The Lord gave me this idea. Why don't you bury the ring in the sand, just a small layer? Because I was like, well, that's a little frightful, because what if I lose this ring?
Speaker 1What if it's high tide or something?
Speaker 2It was really perfect, was like he's like. Well, I asked nico, and so I did, and I was like, buddy, I need your help. He's like, all right what you got. And I said when you get your mom when we go to the lake? I was wondering. I said, look, here's the ring. He's like, oh, it's pretty. I was like you think she loves me? And he said yes, absolutely. And he was real excited and he's like, and I told him I said can, can you keep your secret and don't blab? And he did really well, he did, but there was a couple that's a big secret to hold him for a little kid he had to hold it for a whole, I think day and a half.
Speaker 1That's a long time.
Speaker 2So we get to the lake. I'm just going to go to the lake now. I told him what to do. I said I'm going to give you the ring and I'm going to trust you with this ring. This is my mother's ring and I want you to bury it, and then I'm going to have you find it quotations. And hey, I found something. We left it in the pouch, or no, we took it out of the pouch, but it had paper around it, and so I was like cool it won't really hurt it.
Speaker 2So, then, but the whole day was so funny and I didn't think we were ever going to get to the sand, because she wasn't worried about the sand. We had a mission looking for spots for our wedding.
Speaker 1Right and you're like I just need to get to the sand. I just need to get to the sand. She's laughing.
Speaker 2And she're like I just need to get to the sand, I just need to get to the sand. She's laughing and she's like what is so important about the sand. Why are you going to try to get to the sand? So bad? And I was like, well, she doesn't know, she knows something's up, but she doesn't know what we're doing. So I was like, keep her, I want her to have a surprise. And she did tell me.
Speaker 2after that, the Holy Spirit said spoke to her that I was going to give her a ring on Mother's Day but didn't know when and she was surprised. But we finally got to the sand after looking at the spot.
Speaker 2So we found the most perfect spot for the wedding and it's going to be big enough for everybody. So finally I said, all right, nico, here we walk out, me and her. While Nico was playing in the sand and I turned, I looked and I motioned Nico to say, hey, come look, I found something. So we're walking over there and she goes what could he have found? And just giggling and I was like what is?
Speaker 2that it's kind of shiny and I picked it up and at that moment she knew obviously that it was the ring and paper and I just happened to get down on my knee on the beach in front of everybody. The beach is packed and I don't care if there was one, if there was none, or a hundred people Right, it wouldn't have mattered.
Speaker 1It wouldn't have mattered, yeah.
Speaker 2And I just did it. And I got on the end just said whatever the because I didn't know what I was going to say either and I let Holy Spirit, right before we got we're to Nico, he gave me the most perfect words and I got on with him and said you know, I felt like our stories, something along the lines. I don't remember exactly, it was in the moment, and our stories have a lot of similarities. And our stories have a lot of similarities and you know he made us to be with each other.
Speaker 1Way before this time and such a time I should have mic'd you up, Consuela, so you could tell us Do you get emotional about it? Were you surprised? You weren't? Cody's just not a very good surprise keeper. He carries his emotions on his face. I think she was happy.
Speaker 2I mean, I was surprised the Holy Spirit had her. Yeah, that's what I was saying. The Holy Spirit had told her ahead of time kind of. I guess prepare her for that, but it was really a sweet moment.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's precious. Well, you know, the thing that I love about your story and why I wanted to start with that, is how you partnered with Nico in that. Yeah, you know, because God has developed a three-string cord and I love when he says three-string cord in scripture, that it's not easily broken right. So when he joins the three of you, you're a three-string cord that cannot be easily broken. Wow Right.
Speaker 2Wow yeah.
Learning Evangelism at Saturate Global
Speaker 1And so that's what the Lord had laid upon my heart. And then you and I last weekend went to a conference. I kind of yanked you out of what you were planning on doing. Went to a conference, I kind of yanked you out of what you were planning on doing. But it popped up on Facebook and if people have never heard of there's a couple called. Their names are Parker and Jesse Green and they have a church called Salt Church in North Carolina I think it's Wilmington, north Carolina and their ministry is called Saturate Global.
Speaker 1Now, where I became familiar with her and them was during COVID, and so I have followed them since COVID, because they were in California at the time and when everything was shut down, they went to the beach and were baptizing people at the time. And when everything was shut down, they went to the beach and were baptizing people at the beach. Even though everything was shut down, thousands of people went and were baptized during COVID and I thought that's amazing and that God, even though everything, especially in California, was shut down, that God had made a way for them to be at the beach and people were being saved and baptized. And so I followed them since then and since then they've had some more children and they ended up moving over to North Carolina and now they've got this ministry going there. But the main thing that they do in in the baptisms is that they evangelize and, for whatever reason, they linked up with a church here in Dallas called Kingdom Culture. Pastor Sherman Dumas was it out there, I think that's it.
Speaker 2I don't know his last name, I think it's Dumas, but anyway, out there, I think that's it. I don't know his last name, I think it's Dumas, but anyway, their people were just super sweet and they were super nice out there.
Speaker 1It was in Cedar Hill, and so Parker and Jesse and their whole Saturate Global team came at their own expense to this church in Dallas I call it Dallas at Cedar Hill, but it's Dallas and they for the premise of teaching evangelism. And so it popped up on my Facebook a few weeks ago and I thought I can't believe they're coming to Dallas, you know. And then I couldn't believe it was free.
Speaker 1I mean conferences have gotten really expensive. I don't know if you pay attention, but conferences are expensive Almost like $100 a person now to go and see whoever. And so when it said one of my favorite people were coming and it was free, I was like we have to go and the first person that popped in my mind was you and I said, because this is Cody, this is what he's going to do, and it's not something I can teach you, because I never was involved much in evangelism, you know, and so as a kid I mean, I grew up the people know, I grew up in Pentecostal church for a long time and what we would do was they would take you out on Sunday morning. They give you some tracks with the church address and the phone number and you were going door to door inviting people to come to church, and so they would use all of us little kids to go door to door. You know, and you'll give out tracks and invite people to come to church, and so we would do that on Sunday mornings or Saturday mornings. But to learn to walk up to a person and have a conversation and talk about Jesus.
Speaker 1I never did that my whole life. I never had a church that promoted evangelism ever. I don't have a problem going and feeding the homeless and being able to pray with people or doing a food pantry and praying for people when they come to get food, or we do the drive-through prayer. They just drive through and we pray with them. That's never been a problem. But Cody and I teamed up because what happens was on Friday night they did like a teaching thing.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1It was like a church service but then they threw in some teaching and I was just like they were talking about. From the time that they got to the airport it was on. I mean they like they turned it on there. She's like I tell my team be ready, because we don't know who we're going to meet from the time that we step into that airport.
Speaker 1She loves using the word pivot yeah, pivot yeah jesse's pivoting yeah, so what she says she does is that of course she's got books and stuff she's written, and so she brings the books, uh, to sell, you know they to you know for the ministry, or to give away or whatever she does, and so she always overloads her baggage with these books so that while she's checking the books in there's questions because she's got to sit there, oh, ma'am, you're over your limit.
Speaker 1So you know, you got to take out so many pounds of books, and so she's got to open up her case and all these books are there and she starts passing out books to people all around, uh, to get rid of the weight, and so it it opened a conversation with the person that's taking the tickets, and then there was a person assisting that person and they started talking, and so they're talking about jesus at five o'clock in the morning at the airport, you know, and then they talk to the you know, the people on the airplane, and then they get to the rental car place and a person got saved at the rental car place, and so it was like it just went on and on and I was like the boldness of that, you know, to just know what to do.
Speaker 1So Saturday they even said their waiter yeah at the restaurant, yeah, that turned his, gave his life to jesus but what she said was one of the guys had planned out we're gonna go try this place, this place, in this place while we're here, right, and when they get ready to go, they say, holy spirit, where do you want us to go?
Speaker 2I love that and I feel like that's how it should be. We were talking yeah, you know everything we do, even that's what we did last Sunday.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2That's how we ended up taking my dad out, because we're like, okay, you're not going to work. Now what do we do? Let's ask Holy Spirit.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And we did, and she's. She heard let's take your dad out. I said that's so perfect, let's do it yeah and we went and it was. It was a good day yeah we took him out to a nice restaurant, to a valet where he did the whole valet yeah parking and I. That's very fancy to me. I don't deal with that. I pulled up. They're like asking for the information. I didn't know what to do. I'm like do I get out? Do you want my keys?
Speaker 2Yeah, just get out, just get out Nice, but it was nice and we got to treat them to that Nice.
Speaker 1But here's the thing is being ready to pivot from your plan to his plan, right, right. And so Saturday morning we go up there like 11. They did another service and then they had where we actually went to this place called Hillsdale Village Was it Hillsdale or Hillside Hillside. Hillside Village. Out there it was like a big open door.
Speaker 2Like a strip mall Huge.
Speaker 1Huge.
Speaker 2It's like a whole block.
Speaker 1It was a huge. I mean, every store you could think of was there, restaurants were there, and you walk around outside to get into. You know the place. So it's not like an enclosed mall, it's like an outdoor mall, if you will. So, anyway, so here was about how many people do you think? Maybe 50, 60?.
Speaker 2That went with it, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1How about 50 or 60?
Speaker 1Yeah, 50, 50, 50, so 60 yeah so us going out there and they said, well, we're gonna just sit at the nectar place where the juice place is, and then if y'all need anything you just come to us there and we're just gonna kind of watch everybody and offer, you know, critique to whatever. So we went on the other side. Cody and I were like you know, I can't do a lot of walking. So I was like, okay, so we've got to find someplace One. It's hot today. It's very humid hot.
Speaker 2It was very humid.
Speaker 1yes, Very hot, and so I said let's just go find us a place to shade.
Speaker 2We ended up walking right by our place.
Speaker 1That's right that we were at all day, yeah, so we walked there, we get in our corner, we find us some shade right and then it was like what's your opening line? You know that was the funniest thing that was like, what do we say like?
Speaker 2and then I was like wait a minute, salt, start a conversation. Yeah, conversation, yeah, start a conversation.
Speaker 1Ask a question.
Speaker 2Ask a question Listen, listen, pay attention, listen.
Overcoming Fear to Share Jesus
Speaker 1Yeah, and then tell them about.
Speaker 2Jesus Tell them. Yeah go tell them.
Speaker 1Yeah, so it made it great that she gave us that acronym, right.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And so we were like okay, so what does that look like though? I mean and so the first couple of people that walked by, we were like at a corner, but thank god for the shade and there was a little bench there and there was a trash can there I could lean on, you know, and so people were coming. They started coming by and we're like, hey, good morning, how y'all doing and. And then we didn't know what to say after that. So we had a conversation.
Speaker 2Cody and I was like well, what do we want to say?
Speaker 1Stumbling over our words. Yeah, we were just like blah, blah, blah, you know. So we were looking like dorks and so I was like Holy Spirit, help us with this.
Speaker 2That was our problem.
Speaker 1That was, I mean because we were like so nervous about doing it that we just couldn't. When we said holy spirit, yeah, help us, yeah give us the right words, send our right people we did. We stopped right there and we started praying. When you surrender.
Speaker 2That's all the father wants you to do. He's like just surrender me, surrender all to me yeah and it's so precious because when you do that, it changes he moves, he turns the light switch on and then he is able to move freely. He gets to do the work through your body, doing your mouthpiece. That's what it really looks like yeah you say let me be your mouthpiece and your hands and feet. We did the thing.
Speaker 1Yeah, and that's what Sister Audie and I were just talking about on the previous podcast is there's not like an extra baptism. That happens when you get saved of the Holy Spirit. What happens is you yield to the Spirit that you get at salvation. So there's the difference. It's not that everybody's got a different Holy Spirit or a different amount of the Holy Spirit. What it is is that you're yielding to the Holy Spirit is different. You're allowing Him to possess you and use you and be used by Him in this.
Speaker 1And so we prayed and we stopped and we said Holy Spirit, come and be with us, tell us what to say, give us your wisdom, give us your understanding. We always pray that. And so, all of a sudden, I felt like I was telling the Lord, you have a conversation with him. And I said Lord, I don't mind praying for people. I pray for people all day long. I don't have a problem with that. People call me up, but they always come to me, so I know that they're already surrendered to the praying of it. You know they're already surrendered to that, and so what do I do? He goes okay, so offer on prayer.
Speaker 1We're just praying for folks is what we said, and so we said, okay, I can do that, and so it changed because, cody, we're just offering prayer today and that became our tagline. So each one of us, as people were coming up, would say, hey, we're just out praying for folks today. You got anything we can pray about with you.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And boom, all of a sudden it changed right.
Speaker 2Right, and tell them what happened well, one of the highlights I'm just I I keep remembering. One of the cool highlights was when we got those young ladies and you were praying for them. I was just there, or if I was praying, you were just there to support prayer or whatever.
Speaker 2But the thing is, as you were praying for those young ladies, here comes another young man and I got a little nervous. I'm like because the Holy Spirit said, now move to him. I'm like, but Diana's not going gonna be there with me, she will, when she gets done. Yeah, just go over there and talk to him. I was like, oh, I don't know if I can do it. Oh, you know, he's like, I got you and I took that first step. That's all you have to do is take that first step, yeah and he really didn did lead us all day.
Speaker 1He did, he did After that it was just for the next hour and a half, it was completely different.
Speaker 2Right. So I broke away and I was like, hey, I got attention and whatnot. And I said we're just giving, we're just giving out prayer, like our tagline. That Dinah was saying, and do you need anything? And he immediately he wanted a half a second to resist. No, I'm okay, but it didn't come out.
Speaker 1It didn't come out that way.
Speaker 2Yeah, he said, actually I do. And so I was like okay, what's going on? And the pattern was family and friends that day. And so we start praying and I asked him if he knew the Lord and he said he knew him. But I said but do you know him?
Speaker 1Are you saved?
Speaker 2buddy. I said but do you know him? Are you saved? And when they don't know for sure, I always ask them. I did this also when I was at the park.
Speaker 2But I said I want you to think if you were to die today I'm not trying to scare you, but if you were to go home or if you were to die today, do you know where you would be? Would you be in heaven or would you be in hell? And he said well, I don't know, but I feel like I might be on my way to hell. I said well, we're going to fix that today. Do you want to fix that? He's like yes. So then I started praying with him and I said we're going to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and the Lord of your life today, and once you do that, you don't have to worry. But you need to maintain that. And just, you know X, y, z. And then we prayed for his family, or I think he yeah, it was his family on this one. But that's the power of faith and trust in the Lord.
Speaker 1Yeah, because we were like shocked when the first girl, that girl that we talked to right after that, that we changed our thing. We said we can pray for you. And she comes and said comes yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1And then I, and then all of a sudden, we said but what's your relationship with jesus? And she just kind of shrugged it. You know, and uh, you know we. The premise is yeah, we want to pray for your family, yeah, we want to pray for things you're going through, but we care about your salvation and where you're going to spend eternity. Right, because I think that we sugarcoat eternity when everyone is going to face eternity.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1And so she wasn't for sure either. And so we said, well, let's make sure. And so we began to pray for her, to make that public profession of faith and to understand that when she did that, that, that and we kept saying this to everybody that same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives now inside of you.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1You know, christine Kane, that's one of her big things. Every time you see her she's going to say that. She said it for years and it really stuck with me that the same spirit not a different one, not the same that raised jesus from the dead, dwells inside of you because you're now making him lord of your life, right. What's that mean? You have ownership, you have a place to dwell, and in that I'm going to make you lord of everything, every decision, every action that I do now I want you to have control of. And so she made her public profession of faith right then. And that really kind of boosted us up, right, because we're like, yeah, we got this now, you know, because we were so scared before right, and that's all it took was just like a boost, a boost of confidence yeah what I really liked was the two groups the two young ladies that we prayed for and the two young men.
Speaker 2They both had friends. They're like we are believers, but we don't know how to stay with our friends. We don't know what to pray.
Speaker 1How to share.
Speaker 2I felt like when we prayed for them they knew and they're going to really take it back. The prayer was we pray, Holy Spirit, you for them. They knew and they're going to take it, really take it back.
Speaker 1Yeah, well, the prayer was we pray, holy Spirit, you empower them Right To go, give them the words to say, you know, give them the ability to be you to their friends. But, holy Spirit, you prepare the hearts Right, you know you go and prepare the hearts. You know you go and prepare the hearts. And so I think they really, their continents really changed in that they felt empowered to go and do that. You know. But I think the whole experience, of course, that evening we went back, we were so we were wore out in an hour, in two hours, yeah, but all of a sudden, you know, here we were. You know, after two hours just going, I'm exhausted, you know, and it was hot and it was all of that. And so we were like, well, we're going to go, you know, sit down and just talk about everything. And we did that for like hours. And then we went back that night and everybody that was saved that day got invited to come back to the church and be baptized.
Speaker 2Oh, another highlight. Yeah, Now this couple came up to. It was one that we prayed for. It was, I guess I don't want to say the wrong thing, a Mexican couple. Yeah, and they did say that they knew the Lord and their family knew the Lord, but they showed up anyway.
Speaker 1Yeah, they did.
Speaker 2Because they needed something.
Speaker 1They needed it. That was what was exciting about it, because even though they didn't go through the process. They were there that we had met, and that was exciting. Yeah, they were there that we had met, and that was exciting, yeah. So when we get back to the church that night, they have three cattle troughs. Yeah, the big ones. Big cattle troughs in like. What are that? What is that? Those covers oh the tarp.
Speaker 1They had all the tarps on the carpet and they had these three big cattle troughs and so they just started after they did a whole service. I mean, they did a whole service and people were just prophesying to all each of them and then to people in the audience, and I know that was it Shane, what's his name? Who came over to you.
Speaker 2Seth.
Speaker 1Seth. Seth came over and gave you a word and I think that was just a great divine appointment for you. And then the very, you know the very end of it here the lady comes and she begins to share. She's like can I share a word with you? I was like, absolutely. I was thinking, yeah, I could use that, you know, and everything she said was just spot on.
First Experiences Witnessing at the Mall
Speaker 1And I love when God does that. He gives you an affirmation through a prophetic word, because it shouldn't be anything that's brand new to you. It's just an affirmation of what God's been showing you Right. And so it was and it was a great booster, you know, for me and I, just after the whole thing and we watched them do their baptisms we do ours different, we do the vows and all that. But you know, just understanding the power in the water and I told Audia on our last podcast we needed to do one on baptism. We are going to be a host for June the 8th, for the Day of Pentecost. They're going to do what's called Baptize America and they asked for churches to become hub host for baptisms on that day, so that churches all across America at two o'clock are going to be baptizing and, of course, we baptize in the name of Jesus, I love baptizing.
Speaker 2I know, I know.
Speaker 1And so we are. Now we have joined with the Jesus House in Kauffman as to be a hub for this Day of Pentecost Baptize America event, and we're going to have our big pool put up there in the front of their property and we're going to begin to advertise this week about people coming out and being baptized. And though Brother Tommy and I have a little difference of opinion on how to do it and what, the point and the premise is one before you're baptized, you have to make Jesus Lord of your life, and that's the main thing, right, and I think this just goes right along with it. There is something that happens in that water and I think it's more than a public profession of faith, but we'll get into that, um, on another podcast. But anyway, did you feel, how did how did you feel after the whole event? How did you, how did it? How did you feel after you went through that?
Speaker 2well, um, I think it was. I just knew I believe it was friday sitting there that I heard this is your catapult and it really was. Yeah, I mean because I've been it really was. Yeah, I mean because I've been longing for. Sorry, I'm a little congested today.
Speaker 1It's springtime in Texas. There's allergies.
Speaker 2Yeah, go ahead, and so I was longing for I think we all were longing for that Like. What does this evangelistic role look like? Yeah how do we even get into that? Yeah, we read about it, we study about it, we listen to other people. We kind of see it happen but we until you really get to do it, do it, yeah, then you don't really know.
Speaker 1Don't you feel really empowered now by that whole thing? Because?
Speaker 2I know.
Speaker 1Tell everybody what happened the next day. Well, on Monday we did that. Friday night, saturday, saturday night, sunday we had our normal church services. But on Monday tell them what you did.
Answering the Call to Park Ministry
Speaker 2So Monday? Well, let me back up a little bit. Before Monday, when we had our first building in Terrell, the Lord gave me a vision in one of the services of me, with a table and chairs yeah, at the park.
Speaker 1Yeah, I remember that.
Speaker 2And I put it off because and that's when- you felt called going into this men's ministry.
Speaker 1Right but you just didn't know what that looked like. Right, I didn't know what it looked like.
Speaker 2And I'm like okay, I thought I was going to have a group. I thought I was going to have another person with me to do it, Because I thought it was going to look like the prayer event that we did. And he's like I didn't say it was going to be with a group. I said you.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I said, okay, I'll get to it. So he gave me grace. I'm thankful that he gave me grace, to put it aside, because there was a lot of stuff that we were doing.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And I was busy. And then what was it? Before the event, one Sunday, I heard him he's like remember the park? I want you to do that. It's coming up. You need to do that.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2You've learned a lot. I gave you grace. You need to focus and get yourself motivated and get out there. So I even went to ask Consuela. I was like, would you want to do this with me? And we were talking about it and she's like yeah, if you want me to. And then I heard I didn't say you and Consuela, I said you. So I'm like all right. I told her never mind, I need to do this on my own.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So I go with you to the training and from there I'm getting more tired, Because doing that work, even if it is a cool day, it's still tiring work. You're in the spirit? Yeah, and we were. I was in the spirit that event and that training, more than I have ever been.
Speaker 1It was a lot. It was.
Speaker 2We were in the spirit from friday to saturday yeah, late, late saturday night and just he never left yeah he never really yeah, he never really leaves, he never stopped.
Speaker 1No, but I mean you were like constant in that yeah.
Speaker 2And I had my eyes closed a lot because you're in prayer, and he would say, look, move your head to the right. And I would look and be like, okay, he said, extend your right hand, pray for them. I went praying. In my understanding, I prayed in tongues for everybody. He told me to pray for, because you don't know what to say and so, anyway, we get to the end of the conference and Monday comes around, and and I'm tired and I'm coming down with something. That's why I'm getting over right now with allergies and stuff.
Speaker 2And he told me Sunday. He told me Monday I want you to get up at 7 o'clock and I got out there a little late, but I was out there at 8 o'clock but I got up at 7. I wanted to rest, I wanted to lay there, but I didn't. I got up, I got my butt moving. I loaded my car up at the table. I found a chair. I was like well, craig, I don't have the folding chairs. He's like go to Adia's shed and get those lawn chairs. So I got those and I was like well, I need a poster board. And I paid for the markers and the tape and I went somewhere else to get the poster board Because Berkshire for some reason stopped selling poster board.
Speaker 1Really, yeah, it's what we used to get them for your school all the time I know all the time. Okay, go ahead.
Speaker 2So I go to the felony dollar right there in Terrell. They didn't open until 8. I'm like I got to move on. So he's like go to the dollar general. Down the road and I did, and I get my poster board and it's a dollar eight cents, real cheap, excuse me. And then I, this lady, was in front of me with a handful of stuff and this whole day he was just moving. I was just listening to the spirit, listening to the Holy Spirit, and this lady says why don't you go in front of me?
Speaker 2So I pay for my poster board. I'm about to walk out and he stops me. This is where it started. For Monday, he said I want you to pay for her items. It came out to be $25. And I didn't have time to ask Consuela because it was her card I was buying my things with. But I didn't need to. She's not going to disagree with the Holy Spirit, right.
Speaker 1So I said, well, okay, to you know she's not gonna disagree with the holy spirit, right? So I said, well, okay, so now if you go start buying like no other stuff, the holy spirit said there's gonna be right now.
Speaker 2There's a difference like hold on.
Speaker 1Yeah, let me just teach you something before this whole marriage thing.
Speaker 2That would not work right but I knew, I heard, I heard him, yes, yes, I heard from him clearly, because I'm like, are you sure he's like?
Speaker 1yes.
Speaker 2And he said as a whisper, like I don't know Anyway. So I turned around and I said she's getting her card out. And I said now how? I was like hang on, how much is it? And it was like $26, like nothing, you know, $26, whatever. I said, I'm going to pay. I said the Lord led me to pay for your things today.
Speaker 2And she had the most joyful, just kind of teary-eyed face, and she's like, oh my gosh, nobody has ever done this for me, thank you. I was like it's you know, no problem, it's from the lord today, and I went on and to the park yeah, I set up everything.
Speaker 1I get there why and when we're doing the lord's work, the wind was coming every second, every like, the holy spirit literally is the day of Pentecost shows up wherever we're at and I'm like I don't know how I'm going to get this tape to the table.
Speaker 2I don't have anybody else. I said be still for a second Talking tape, so I finally get it all taped on my phone. I didn't know what the sign was going to say until I got there. He said write this. And the sign says do you need to talk?
Speaker 1Question mark.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's it. And he sat me down. I took my Bible and he said don't approach them, don't say anything to them. You just read your Bible and I'm reading Matthew and it's not that when we do these things, it's almost like, okay, you really have to trust in the Lord.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Because you're like are they really going to come? Yeah?
Speaker 1And we worry about are they going to come? Which at?
Speaker 2the end of the day, what does it matter? It doesn't.
Speaker 1But to us it matters. Because you want to do His work, you want to know that it was an obedience Right If somebody showed up.
Speaker 2Yeah, and I was like is this really? Am I really going to get people? Yeah? Or is this just a test of showing my faith and my obedience? If I'm going to do it? It's just a test of showing my faith and my obedience if I'm going to do it? And 45 minutes goes by, I'm reading the Bible and I'm like I'm just sitting there trusting him and this young lady comes up and I start to get teary-eyed because I trusted him and the faith prevailed and he brought. I said a prayer before that. I said send the one.
Speaker 1But you asked Holy Spirit.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1To show up in the situation like we did the other day. Right, and it's the same thing.
Speaker 2And she came and she needed. She almost passed me up and she was very transparent and she said that she had this feeling of not wanting to come, but then she said that she had some tug on her saying go and it's okay. And we talked and we prayed and she got saved. And then she was going to. I prayed for her protection of traveling to go to her mom that she didn't get to see in eight years.
Speaker 1Wow.
Speaker 2In Mexico. Yeah, so she did that. And then I had like four or five people, I think, four people I talked to out at the table and another one I was going to get water, um, before I left, but I thought it was going to be till two o'clock. I was like I don't know if I can handle this until two. And when I went to the car my sign blew, blew off. I'm like I gotta retake the sign and I'm like, Lord, are you telling me I need to go? He's like no, Just put your sign on that chair and it'll fit perfectly, and stay here until 12. And I did. I got one more.
Speaker 1Yeah, nice, nice.
Speaker 2And or he got one more. Yeah, yeah, understood, understood.
Speaker 1But the thing is is don't you feel and I feel bad that my whole life I wasn't taught that, I wasn't taught the necessity of that? It's like we categorize people to say, okay, if you're in the office of a prophet, you're going to prophesy. You can only prophesy which a lot of people prophesy, whether they're in the office of a prophet or not. People evangelize. Well, that's because they're evangelists, that's what they're supposed to do. But we're all called to do all things Right. We're all supposed to be teachers, we're all supposed to be preachers and proclaiming the Word of God. We're all supposed to be doing all of those gifts.
Speaker 2But not to leave out.
Speaker 1But we say, okay, well, we'll leave the evangelism to the evangelist or we leave the preaching to the preacher or we leave the teaching to the teacher, you might have you do something better yeah, you have the gift of. There are people that have the gift to do that, but it doesn't negate that.
We All Have the Holy Spirit
Speaker 1The same Holy Spirit, as we started with, that raised Jesus from the dead, dwells in each of us, and when he wants to do something through you, you're well-labeled, whether you have the office of it or not, and I think that's where our mindset needs to change. We have Jesus. Jesus was a preacher, he was a teacher, he was an evangelist, he did prophesy. He did do all of these things and he, of course, was an apostle. He was the first, and so the thing is is he did all of that and he dwells in you. So when the need comes for him to do a work through you, isn't he able to do it, whether you've got a title or not?
Speaker 1right and that's where I think the church needs to come into the realization of all of who he is, is inside of you and you have the ability, through him and through the power of the holy spirit, to do that, to do what he calls you to do and, like I said, I felt bad that I never emphasized evangelism.
Speaker 2Well, that is. I think that's what that is. I don't think I know that is. One of the biggest problems with today's the church is that we have this mindset.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2That we have one role, but anyway.
Speaker 1That we can't do it if we don't have a title of it.
Speaker 2Yeah, throw out the title, Just do the Lord's work.
Speaker 1You just have the Holy Spirit to do whatever the Holy Spirit wants to do. It's amazing. Thank you, Cody, for sharing last weekend with me.
Speaker 2Thank you for sharing your story.

Speaker 1But, as we're talking about evangelism, we don't leave anybody out. If you don't have a personal relationship with Jesus, we want to invite you to do that. First and foremost, we want to invite you to invite Jesus to come and be the Lord and Savior of your life. Simply repent of your sins, just ask Him to come and just dwell inside of you. The Holy Spirit comes at that moment and he doesn't leave you Because you don't use Him. Doesn't mean he's not there, and just allow him to become activated in your life. Say holy, holy spirit, activate. I mean, it seems like a little superhero thing when you say that, but it really is about it. It is just be activated in my life and that means I gotta surrender over to you. Just do it today and if you do that, please go onto our website, m3miorg, and let us know that you've made Jesus your Lord and your Savior today. Thank you for being with us and as we close, we always say go show some love, show some compassion, give mercy and go be Jesus today.
