The Lex + Tony Show
A weekly show and a platform for voices and stories we need to hear more. Every Thursday, Lex + Tony take the top trending topics, whatever people are randomly talking about online, and untangle what matters from what's essentially BS. Lex is an educator-turned-digital-marketer so he's a little bit more diplomatic. Tony is an engineer so he's blunt. They’ll bring you hot topics - stories that are being covered in the media, but that really miss the humanity. They’ll chat about shows and movies that everybody is talking about. And they’ll interview real people - community leaders and up-and-coming artists who are working to make a real difference.
So if you’re looking for a break from the noise, a good conversation, and to stay in the know without getting bogged down by triggering headlines, this is the podcast for you. Here to uplift you, share the spotlight on things that matter, and inspire hope that things can get better - The Lex + Tony Show™: Think a Little. Laugh a Lot. Make Peace with Things.

From Rio to Hope: A Champion for Florida Immigrants Pt 2 | Shows We Love: Silo
Listen as Lex + Tony talk about a TV show that's hot, trending and relevant. Silo on AppleTV+ is full of mystery, post-apocalyptic intrigue, engineering and some great actors. Lex and Tony highlight the main themes of the show that allude to real current events, including how an entity referred to as "Judicial," with its unchecked powers, determines the destiny of the inhabitants of the silo. The discussion of the topic of "justice," as conveyed on the show, paves a perfect segue for the guys to address a recent Supreme Court #SCOTUS ruling in favor of a Colorado "web designer" who refuses to make gay wedding websites due to her religious beliefs. Many deem the ruling unjust, as it essentially turns #LGBTQ+ people into second-class citizens. Lex + Tony spill the T regarding recent reports on the initial case filings that reveal doubts on the veracity of the premise of the case.
The guys also discuss the recent ruling regarding undocumented #immigrants and the federal government's level of discretion as to whom to deport. For years, extreme Republicans have advocated for the deportation of all undocumented immigrants, which the Supreme Court ruled as impractical, opting for a more measured order of priority as set by the Executive Branch.
Also, stick around until the end for the second portion of the interview with Felipe Sousa-Lazaballet, Executive Director of HOPE CommUnity Center. In this emotional conclusion, Felipe recounts his march to DC from Miami on foot, his first visit to the Hope CommUnity Center and the incredible story of how he ended up becoming its executive director and a fierce advocate for the immigrant community. It's an uplifting story you do not want to miss!
