SPEAKER_01:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Good Podcast.

SPEAKER_00:

Welcome, and with me is Travis Woodley. Travis is with Revitalized Nutrition in Auburn. Welcome, Travis.

SPEAKER_02:

Thank you. Thank you for having me.

SPEAKER_00:

Tell me a little bit about Revitalized Nutrition.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, Revitalized Nutrition is in Midtown, uh, directly across from Nippers. Uh we sell medical grade nutraceuticals. We have a smoothie bar there. We also have a red light sauna there. Um, and then we also have you know proteins and pre-workouts and stuff like that. But it was born from uh my medical uh clinic and my aesthetics clinic um to you know better service my patients and to make sure they had the the proper nutraceuticals uh available to them.

SPEAKER_00:

Okay. Well, let's talk about you for a few minutes. What is your career journey looked like? How did you get into this type of business?

SPEAKER_02:

So my background is cardiology and uh ER. I um did that for 17, 18 years. I've always had a love for sports medicine. I was actually doing rounds up at uh Emory and Northside in Atlanta, and always went into this nutrition store up there that did uh hormone replacement.

SPEAKER_00:

Okay.

SPEAKER_02:

And so they just asked me eventually just to be, you know, a part-time provider for them, and I was like, sure. And so the more I did it, um, the more I realized, you know, the need for preventative care um that's out there. And so I was like, you know, I need to bring this back home. Um, and that's what I did. So back in 2021, I opened up uh Revitalized Medical Clinic, and then Revitalized Nutrition spun off of that, and now I have uh Revitalized Aesthetics Wellness uh in Columbus and in Warden Rivas, Georgia.

SPEAKER_00:

Wow. Okay, so you've got um a lot of locations to help people. What are some of the triggers that people or the problems that people have that make them uh a good customer of yours? What are they looking to correct?

SPEAKER_02:

So I you know, I really focus on full body wellness. And so whether it would be sleep, um, cognition, um, fatigue, um, thyroid issues, gut issues, hormone issues. This is the type of the things that I really focus on inside the clinic. And then, you know, I service them uh outside the clinic with the medical grade and pharmaceuticals uh revitalized nutrition in in Make Town.

SPEAKER_00:

Okay. Well, you've been doing this. I mean, this has been your career for many years. You've come across, I'm sure, some misconceptions that people have about uh about your type of business, about finding those nutritional solutions to their met to their physical problems. What are some of those misconceptions people have?

SPEAKER_02:

So fortunately, um the misconceptions or the the uh disbeliefs are really shifting uh gears now because uh people are really tuning into um whole whole body wellness, mitochondrial health. Um, and so the the the drive is changing a little bit. But you know, prior, I started right at you know at the time of COVID. So it was a little bit tough then. Um but COVID, I think, really drove this industry into where it is now today. Um I can see that because so many people started to really research on how to stay healthy through that pandemic. Um, and so that that really highlighted this side into the functional medicine side or the preventative care side. Um, people wanted to know how not to be in that position. And that was I'm always asked the question, you know, what was my deciding factor on doing this? And I always tell people is you know, when I'm when I was in the ER and I have that person that's on the table that's near death, and I looked at them and said, you know what, if I would have had you 10 years ago and had you on a print preventative medicine or preventative nutraceutical supplement, you wouldn't be laying here right now.

SPEAKER_00:

Right.

SPEAKER_02:

And so I I think that you know the the miss and the misconceptions are that it's a lot of snake oil and stuff like that, but I really think that's changing gears, especially in in place now.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, people are are more educated these days and they understand uh the value of uh preventative care, absolutely. So let's talk about you for a minute. What do you like to do for fun when you're not working in your business?

SPEAKER_02:

So I like to hunt um if I ever get the opportunity. Uh I like to play golf. I'm terrible at it, but I do like to go out there and just swing around and then um probably my favorite thing is actually hanging out with my family.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

And just getting to no love on them because I don't I don't get too much time with them. And so I really try to capitalize on that when I have a chance.

SPEAKER_00:

So, you know, going into your own business, uh, part of the reason I do this podcasting is to encourage others to follow their dreams and go into entrepreneurship, and that's exactly what you did. And uh tell me a little bit about your journey into entrepreneurship. Um, I know that you probably had some challenges that you had to overcome, maybe either personal or in your business that made you stronger, made your business stronger. What was uh what was that like? With how did you handle some of those obstacles?

SPEAKER_02:

Well, entrepreneurship is hard, hard, very hard. And the biggest challenge is probably pulling the trigger. Um, you have a dream, you have a plan, uh, you see the plan in place, and you could see what it would do if it came to fruition. You're just scared to make that step. And I tell so, you know, many people, um, just make the step. I mean, even if you fail, uh, you made the step and you're gonna learn from it. I mean, you know, you could make that step, fail, learn a key thing that happened, uh, and then implement that into another uh thing that you're doing. So I think that's the the biggest fear that I had to overcome was a steady income, um, knowing I'm I'm getting that paycheck on Friday.

SPEAKER_00:

Right, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Knowing I'm able to pay my bills to I don't know if I'm gonna be able to do it or not. So that was the the biggest thing. Uh uh daily struggles, listen, I learn every day. It's uh it's a it's a thing that you never know what's gonna happen. That's true. And and then you just have to you know pivot and adjust. Uh, but fortunately I have a lot of uh smart people in my corner that I can turn to.

SPEAKER_00:

Right. And you've written a book about your experience and and your knowledge on a preventative uh nutrition. Tell me about your book.

SPEAKER_02:

So I have it right here. It's called You're Not Broken, You're Unbalanced. And the book was born from the um patients I have in the clinic. You know, I don't really have eight hours to sit down with every single person. There's so much to go over um that people just don't know out there, and so that's where I wrote it from. It is, you know, written in a language that is going to educate the the person on you know sleep, cognition, hormone replacement, peptides, joint health, um, and then just total body wellness. I've got, of course, nutrition in there. Um, but it's you know, I have patients that would come in, and probably the most common thing when I get their lab work, they ask me, Am I broken? And you know, they're not broken, they're unbalanced, or yeah, their labs are unbalanced, or they're not optimized. And so that's that's my answer. You're not broken, you're unbalanced, and we can fix it.

SPEAKER_00:

And you can solve it. I like it. Well, tell me, um, what is one thing you wish people knew about revitalized nutrition uh that you'd like to tell them?

SPEAKER_02:

The location.

SPEAKER_00:

So okay, where are you located?

SPEAKER_02:

We are located in Midtown, directly across from Nippers. It is, you know, a the hard uh it's it's not a hard thing to miss. It's just is nobody really drives through that area. But we have a lot of a lot of great things in there. Uh, like I said, it's you know, red light sauna, smoothie bar, uh, medical graded pseudocals. It's just getting that uh put traffic in there.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes. Okay. And how can they find out more information? I'm sure you have website, socials, all that kind of thing.

SPEAKER_02:

So I do. So I have you can go to several different websites. I've had revitalized medicalclinic.com, that's where you can go in and see all the services that uh I provide as far as you know the medical wellness services along with aesthetic services. Um, and then I have revitalized nutrition.net, and that is a supplement store. And we have an online store uh with that as well. And then I just uh launched another division that's called uh Rebuild Metabolic Health, um, where I'm doing the online coaching um for those that you know don't know how to go to their provider and have this conversation, don't know what to ask for. And so I'm launching that division to where I can coach them and and tell them say, listen, this is what you want to ask for, this is what you're gonna expect. Um, and this is this is what this is where you want to end up.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. Okay, excellent. Well, Travis, it's been a pleasure talking with you today. I've enjoyed learning about you and about Rita Vitalize uh nutrition. Thanks so much for joining me.
