Today's message is Be humble and not arrogant. Proverbs sixteen five says Everyone that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord, though hand joined in hand, he shall not be unpunished. Verse eighteen continues with pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. This is an evil spirit that God is displeased with. This spirit boasts itself and is being selfish with oneself. The spirit is an abomination unto the Lord. An abomination to God referred to something that is detestable morally and offensive in his eyes. This term is used in both the Old and New Testament to describe action behavior that goeth against God's commands, His will and His character. There are specific examples of abomination, which are haunting eyes, a lion tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, and feet that make haste to run to evil. Here are some scriptures that tell this kind of spirit. Proverbs six sixteen to nineteen says these six things does the Lord hate yeah. Seven are abomination unto him, a proud look, a lion tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that device wicked imagination, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that sow discord above brethren. David wrote in Psalm one hundred twenty first verse saying in my distress I cried unto the Lord and he heard me. Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips and from a deceitful tongue. This spirit will put you in jeopardy with the Lord. The Bible also includes being a narcissist. A narcissist is focused on pride, self love, and lack of empathy. God word warns us against this behavior in these verses. Second Timothy three verse one to five says this know also that in the last days perilous times shall come, for men shall be lovers of their own self, boasters, proud, blasphemy, disobedient to truth to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truthbreaker, false accuser, incontinent, fierce, despiser of those that are good, traitors, headly minded lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof from such turn away. Do you know these people? It sounds familiar to me. These people have their own agenda. They are narcissists. Proverbs twenty one and twenty four said proud and haughty scorners is his name, who dealt in proud wrath. Proverbs twenty six and twenty and twenty one says As coals are to burning coals and wood to fire, so is a content man to kindle strife. Even Jesus said in Luke eighteen, starting with the tenth verse and beyond, and he spake this parable concerning unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others. And here's the parable. Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a publican. The Pharisees stood and prayed thus within themselves, God I thank thee that I am not as other men's are, extortionist, unjust, adulteress, and even as this Republican. I fast twice in the week. I give my tithes of all that I possess. And the Republican, standing afar off, would not live up as much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me, a sinner. I tell you this man went down to his house, justified rather than the other. For every one that exalt himself shall be a base. He that humbles himself shall be exalted. Now this really reminds us of people narcissists, and it does sound familiar because it has a quality of him, of arrogant people, a proud person. Paul's even said himself, stay away from them. Jesus explained that the heart of a person defiles that person. Defile referred to becoming spiritually and morally unclean, often through actions, behavior, and attitudes contrary to the will of God. It signifies an act of disrespect towards God or others, with sin being a primary cause of defilement. Mark seventh and verse twenty to twenty three and beyond said, and Jesus said that which cometh out of the mouth that defiles the man, for from within out of heart of man proceed evil thoughts, adulterers, fornication, murder, theft, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lascivious, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness, all these evil things come from within and defile the man. This is not holiness nor having a holy and righteous life before God and his Christ. Now you may ask, what is holiness and what is being holy? The word holy referred to something that is set apart, sacred or consecrated for God's purpose. It describes entities that are dedicated to serve and fulfill God's will, indicating a state of being blameless and pure. Holiness is a central concept in the Bible, emphasizing the importance of being separate from the common, meaning the world and dedicate your life to God's will. First Thessalonians chapter four verse seven says, For God has not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. Psalms forty seven and eight said God reigneth over the heathen and sitteth upon the throne of his holiness, and ye shall be holy unto me, for I the Lord am holy, and have severe you from other people that you should be mine. That's in Leviticus twenty chapter twenty. Leviticus twentieth chapter and twenty six. Holiness defies the arrogant spirit. It is an abomination against being holy. The idea is to stay away from them that wants to be selfish and proud of themselves. Being a stepfather, I had to become holy before God and before my wife and family because they are looking for a holy and righteous husband and a man of God, and not an arrogant father who tells lies and deceive his family. Deception means to mislead or cause someone to believe something that is not true, often for personal gain. Now that does sound familiar because you have pastors and preachers and teachers and lay people. And not really setting their minds and heart unto the will of God. It is associated with falsehood, trickery, and sin. It is a sin. It's an abomination, like I already proved that from the other scriptures, and is linked to the work of Satan, who is described as the fathers of lies. The Bible consistently portrayed deception as contrary to the nature of God who embellished truth. Jesus was talking to the Jews who did not believe him in John chapter eight, verse forty four, which read ye are of your father the devil, and the lust of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it. That is being arrogant as we explained earlier, a false witness that speaketh lie. Do not be like him the devil. Be holy before God. Isaiah fourteen describes the devil ambition to exalt himself above God, saying for thou hast said in thy own heart I will ascend unto heaven. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will be like the most high. But God had an answer for that. Yeah. Thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the side of the pit. If you do get a chance to read Isaiah fourteen, read from verse twelve to twenty two. The verses tell you about the devil ambition, which is being arrogant, having pride in being a narcissist. There were other figures in the word of God that demonstrate pride and disobedient to God, like Saul, King Saul, Judas Iscariot, Herod. No one, not even the devil, or nor man cannot be exalted above God Almighty. But the man, Christ Jesus sitting on the right hand of him, therefore being humble, therefore by humbling oneself and surrendering to God's will present a path to overcoming narcissist tendency. We have verses that speak of this. Romans twelve verse one to three says I besee therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that ye present your body a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable servant, and be not conformed to this world, but be transfer transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is good, what is that good and separable and perfect will of God. For I say through the grace given unto me to every man that is among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith. God looks at every man daily to see his faith is measured up to God's will. This stops a man from being arrogant, prideful, and narcissistic. Pride will always go before a fall, and being a narcissist will always follow, but do not follow their ways, nor evilness. Although was Solomon written in the Word of God, Ecclesiastic twelve, verse thirteen and fourteen reads as follow Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man, for God shall bring every work into judgment with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil. Also, repentance will always turn away the sinful behavior and forgiveness will always be the central theme in God's word. Luke twenty four, starting with verse forty six to forty eight concerning Jesus after he has risen from the dead. Thus it is written and does it behoove Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sin should be preached in his name, in his name. In Christ's name, Jesus Christ's name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem, and ye are witnesses of these things. Remission of sin is the same as being forgiven. They are intertwined, they are together, if you see them. Remission of sin, it means for being forgiven. We as modern day men and women of Christ, of God, are witnesses of Christ being raised from the dead, who is now set down on the right hand of Almighty. We will receive the power from on eye with the Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost, as our comforter, that he may abide with us forever. Some Christians forgot that about that comforter. They forgot the Holy Spirit. He definitely forgot that. Reason being because God already proved that He wanted us to receive the Holy Spirit of the Holy Ghost. If you have the Holy Ghost, then God will see and hear what you are saying and doing. When you commit yourself to God and His will, you are letting God into your life. You are receiving His Spirit and His anointing. Anointing means to consecrate and set apart being holy. It is associated with Jesus as the Christ and Messiah, the anointing king, also those who Jesus anoint as disciples by receiving the Holy Ghost in John 20 and 22. And when he has said that, he breathed on them and said unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whosoever send ye reveal. Remit they are remitted unto them. And whosoever sin you retain, they are retained. Remit is a Bible term, which means dismiss or set free. It is used to is used in the content of forgiveness of sin. Remission of sin. Sins are remitted when the offender is treated as though the offense had never been committed. Remission is restricted to the penalty, while forgiveness refers more practically particularly to the person. Although it may be used also as the sin itself. Remission is also used for the senses of God. And forgiveness Retain is to keep some something in possession. That is where man or woman of God can be anointed in the spirit of the Holy Ghost.
