Today the Boffins run their eye over the Mum's Bum Cup favourite, returning champion, golf courses to be played, and a couple of birds eye views of some of the team hopes. Plus, a little Croc is on the way...
As you can tell from the music, it's the time of the replayable green jackets never to be taken off for never to be remembered for this more freedom.
SPEAKER_03I'm just roaming around in the way poison baby, you be Hello, hello, hello, everybody out there in Beat the Walland.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's excitement time of the year. Can't believe it, Mario. You've been jumping around.
SPEAKER_02Oh, too right, mate. I love that. Jump around, jump around, mate. I've been jumping okay. I've been jumping very high. Did you think I jumped high then, Ben?
SPEAKER_01Uh not really, Mario. I really wasn't watching. Couldn't give a shit, personally.
SPEAKER_02Don't be like that, mate. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well it is that time of year, Mum's Bum Cup, and today on the podcast we're gonna have a look at the overall Mum's Bum Cup field, the odds, the handicaps. And uh there's plenty of everything there. What are you what did you think about that intro, Laurie? Did it move you at all? Oh yeah, it got the juices flowing.
SPEAKER_02Sit down, mate, do not stand up.
SPEAKER_01I'm not even standing up your bozo. Yeah, it got the juices flowing again, alright. That music, the lovely soft piano, you know, it takes me straight to Augusta. And we do know this is golf's very unofficial fifth major. And we have the green jacket and have had for eighteen years. Eighteen glorious years. And I just wonder whose name may be mentioned on that. Well, that is the big question. There's been a different winner every year. We had one season where we had joint winners, and that of course was devastating Dave, and uh the other cattle dog, Craig's 80s, dude. It was a couple of cattle dogs that season. Oh, I know Leber's still beaming with pride after that. Uh what about you, Sandy? What did you think of it all down the end there? No, it was all it was good, you know, it was moving to jump at home, it was good to pick it back up. Uh there's gonna be a lot of golf balls lost, I imagine, this year. The courses are a little bit tougher than they were last year. It's gonna be a true test. In be the ball 18, Adelaide Malls Balls. Well, that's right, it is indeed. And so the way it's gonna work this morning, boys, is we're gonna have a look at the field. Uh, we're gonna have a look at the odds. The the bookmakers, Mickey B. McKenna, Manscaped and Nads, they released their market about a week ago. And I'll tell you what, there's uh some good value there, but there's also uh a surprise favourite at the top of the proceedings. Number 76. Strength and Johnner. Jeez, there's no mucking around this morning, is there? Straight up and into it. He gave me a bit of a fright there, old voiceover man. He gives me more than that, I'll tell you what. Rear dribble, rubbish. I can't believe he's still with us. He's gonna be here as long as I say he's here, so just get over it, Ben. Strength and Johnner, he is going in this season as the Mum's Bum Cup favourite. Not many favourites have won over the years, let's be honest. It's a bit of a hoodoo. Uh a little bit like the uh Saturday night overnight leaders vest. Uh but Strength and Johnner, the Crocs, he's leading the Crocs charge. Do we think he is a good favourite at three to one? They're keeping him very tight in the market. Maybe uh the Bookies know something about him that we don't know. It's all pretty self-explanatory when you have a look at it, though, it makes complete nutter sense. They've done a good job there, the bookies keeping him nice and tight. The last three years, Strength and Jonna has been in that final four. He uh finished third last year on the podium, second the year before. And and the year before that, I believe it was a fourth place. So the last three years, if you're going on form, it can't be anyone but Strength and Johnner. Yeah, he's also getting a straight back on his handicap. Uh so he's gonna be the biggest threat of all, I think, this year. He's got the form going in, and as we know, he's a man of the world. Well, he gets around, mate.
SPEAKER_02He would be doing golf everywhere. He'd be golfing in every corner of the globe, mate. You know he's a very secretive man, but we do know he moves in uh the circles of the rich and famous, their lifestyles. He gets around a bit. So I imagine, mate, he's probably already had coaching this year. He's gone over to Adelaide once or twice to have a look, and uh he is the man to beat, so I I have to agree on form he is the guy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, whatever. Keep going on. I've got no doubt he's been in Adelaide. He's probably set up camp there for the last four months, and that's been his own base. He's gonna be out there doing his best uh, you know. The only problem is this year the courses are a bit longer. Is uh Strength and Johnner any longer? Some men are longer than others. All fair points, boys, but he's going to be leading the Crocs charge, and let's be honest, the Crocs on the ladder, they are the closest to the Wranglers, and we're looking at the premiership. They need a massive golf weekend, and Strength and Johnna will lead off. I imagine that Mickey will throw him in early, try and getting him out in front of the pack and get a clubhouse leader at some point. My question is then, would you back him at the three to one? Would you ring the bookies? Would that be enough to lift you up or text, call, or whatever, and say, get me on. I want to get on Strength and Johnna. I think he is a dead set moral. Three to one. No, two. I'm a bit of a tight ass when it comes to punts. You've got 45 men in the field. So it's a 45 horse race. Three to one, that's very skinny odds. It's it's not enticing to me at all. Yeah, you won't be getting my money. It'll only be a shooter getting my money. You talk about teams that have got good golfers. Shooters are gonna shoot the lights out, mate. Don't you worry about that, baby. Um not interested either. No, I think there's better value that we'll find.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know. Three to one, mate. It's uh yeah, it doesn't excite me at all. It does not get my juices flowing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well don't you stand up this time, Mario, eh?
SPEAKER_02My juices don't flow quite the way yours flow, Lottie.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so just to clarify this morning, fellas, we're not gonna be going through every player. We'll go through a couple of players, but we needed to get the favourite of the Mum's Bum Cup out there, Strength and Johnna. He's hit three to one off a handicap of around 34, been in the top four the last three years. He is the man to beat, according to the books, and according to us generally. So what we're gonna do but now is we're gonna have a quick look at the two courses we're gonna be playing this year, and uh just give some stats on that to give a bit of a feel, because last year we played on two courses up there in Brisbane. Well, the Beat the Ballers did, and we commentated and oversaw the whole thing, of course, and it was uh a thrilling, thrilling uh tournament last year's Mum's Mum Cup, it must be said. Manscaper Nads, the carryover champion, defending champion. We might just have a look at him quickly before we go to the courses. Number thirty, Manscaper Nad. Last year's champion, of course, fellows, Manscaper Nads. Uh, can he be the first man to ever go back to back, or the first man indeed to ever win two Mums Bum Cups? Not a hope in hell. I think we all know that. Uh when you get your handicapped halved, and Manscaper Nads took him years to win it, but he won it in the style, left the big dog in the bag, and uh went on to get his name on the green jacket. He is now this year off something ridiculous.
SPEAKER_02He's off a handicap of twenty month, exactly half of forty that he won off last year, and he is number thirty. This man likes to deal in tens. No shit, eh? How good's that? But uh no, Mankscap and Nance cannot win. The big fella is going along. It's just the uh victory tour for him this year. Lots of fun, and uh he'll be waving to the crowds. Uh there'll be a lot of big galleries following the big man, and I'm sure the big dog will be out this year.
SPEAKER_01Hey, why wouldn't you just bring the driver out? You never know. There is gonna be someone one day who will go back to back. Manscaping Naz is probably not that man. He won't be getting any of my money with the bookies.
SPEAKER_02He's a twenty to one, mate. So he's off a handicap of twenty, he's off twenty to one, he is off forty last year, and I can't believe he is number thirty tens, mate. This is freaking me out big time.
SPEAKER_01So how does that leave the King Browns, Ben? Uh because that's what I want to cover mainly today. How the actual teams look as a whole, and and that's what we're gonna go through quickly shortly. Um do you think that that affects the King Browns negatively? Uh what do you reckon, you fuck stick? Of course it does. Oh, geez, there's no need to go after the big fellow like that. Don't worry about him, Ron. He's in a mood this morning. Uh I'm just so sick of putting up with morons. They're everywhere. So you're saying we're all morons? Yeah, pretty much. What do you want to do about it? All right, all right, just settle down, Ben. Is has he had his medication today?
SPEAKER_02I don't even know he was on medication, mate.
SPEAKER_01I just I think he's been getting a little bit too much of that sunbed, you know, he's it's seeping into him. Whatever. Uh no, so he's not gonna help the King Brown's cause. Thanks for that great question, cutting edge question. Uh but we have plenty of other golfers there that will help the cause big time. So Nads will be there, he'll be in the locker rooms with the King Brown boys, no doubt, giving them rub downs at every opportunity, getting them nice and loose, looking to go King Brown's back to back. All right, well, okay, fair enough. Uh so we all are pretty much agreed that Manscaper needs are most like Nads, sorry, Manscaper Nids. Sounds like a shadow of his former self.
SPEAKER_02Well he is a that might half the handicap. So half the Nads, he becomes Nids. What if he goes up by twenty and let's keep it even here? That would be manscaper nuds.
SPEAKER_01Hey, I hope your phone's not listening to you there. You could get into all sorts of trouble with the federals if you start seeing things like that. Oh loud, Mario.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay, Matt, I don't even know what you're talking about. I don't care.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so Manscaped Nads, we can uh put the red line, the red pen through him, he will not be winning the Mum's Bum Cup, and uh that's a pretty safe bet you to assume. But imagine if he did, the joint would go off. It would go nuts. Maybe has he been getting any practice? Do we have any mail on Manscaped and ads out there in Dubbo is or the central west of New South Wales? Has he been getting practice around the traps out there? And no. Would you tell us even if he was? Uh no. Will you be backing him? No. Do you like Steving Pray as the captain of the King Browns? And yes. The Pat Golf Club. Day one Mum's Bum Cup. Okay, gents, looking at the golf courses this year. As I said, last year we played on uh par 68, 69s, the boys did, and this year we are up to two par 72s. So this is going to be a lot longer. It'll be interesting to see what the handicap committee or the golf committee decide to do with the pickup rule. Last year they made it 12, I believe. This year they may bring it back to 10 to keep the speed of play up, and to uh, you know, with the extra par three and four over the two days, uh it may mean those back markers have a fair bit of trouble catching up. Anyway, does anyone know much about the pack golf course in Adelaide? Yeah, I do. It's one of the best premier public golf courses in South Australia, my friend. Don't you fucking forget it. It's uh wonderful. It's uh eighteen holes, and there's another short course attached to it. So it's a you know a big site. There's uh lots of undulating hills and and plenty of uh green in the fairways. Ah, can you tell me something that's mildly fascinating? Well the it's it's a terrific course. It's five thousand five hundred metres. It's gonna suit the big hitters this year. I believe the layout's a little bit more uh as you would like a lynx course to be. Uh the trees aren't gonna be there are trees there, but they're not as dense as you would find in some of those American style courses. It's a one T start too. That it is. Uh we couldn't get uh a two T start or a shotgun start unfortunately, but there is a big bonus there which you I think Mario, who enjoys his sleep, will enjoy immensely.
SPEAKER_02Yes, mate, what about that? Their first tea is ten AM. I can't believe it. Ten o'clock on the Friday morning. We are out and about, we get to sleep in, we get to get up, have a bit of breakfast, and then you know, just prepare.
SPEAKER_01Let a start means letter finish, though, of course, so it will be quite a long day by the time it's all run and done, but everyone will be back in plenty of time to watch the footy have some dinner and uh, you know, relax and unwind going into the rest day on Saturday. Yeah, that's a big point. Uh that the ten o'clock start means that the day won't finish till about five o'clock, so boys be prepared out there, all you beat the ballers. Uh, it's gonna be a long day. Um, do we see Strength and Johnner leading at the end of that day off his 34-35 handicap? Possibly, but I think there's a time this year that those we talked about it earlier, the long hitters are going to come right into play here. I think guys like Frogman Grant and uh Grunt and Growen in particular, both good golfers and both of good handicaps. They're gonna be really good, strong players over this course. Uh, without the trees there, they can really unleash and uh it depends how much distance they get on their fellow group players. Well, that's it. Let's talk about the groups at the moment. So the skippers are gonna get together and they will nominate uh a player strategically. Uh, they'll go one by one into the groups. There'll be three groups of three and there will be nine groups of four, 45 players. Warwick Farmfeller will be overseas and missing for the Wranglers, which is going to dent their chances. Uh, but in saying that, uh it should be pretty good. Those three groups of three up front, they're all guaranteed to get good points. So the way it works is whoever wins the Saturday group gets 12 points for their team. Whoever runs second gets nine points, whoever gets third six points, and whoever runs fourth gets three points. So it's really important on those days to get those points because they're all tripled, of course, on top of that, uh, being the Mum's Bum Cup a three times multiplier. So they're very important for the team. So, what would the skippers be thinking of here, do you think, Laurie? Uh, when they're putting their teams together. Yeah, it's pretty simple. You try and match up your good golfers against the others good golfers. Whoever leads off from the captains with the first player named in each group, that generally sets the tone for for what's to come. Uh disruptors, uh, there were some last year.
SPEAKER_02Were there what, mate? There was some really good strategic plays by the skippers. So for instance, I remember some groups, mate, they had three really good golfers, and then they didn't quite have a golfer to match, so what they would do is put in a disruptor. There is somebody of a higher handicap who probably doesn't have as good a chance to win as the others, and he would get in there and he would be chatting and doing everything by the rules, um, but also doing his best. And you know, naturally with the golf, they're gonna slow down the group occasionally, uh, they're going to be cracking jokes and having lots of beers, so the disruptor is a very important strategy in all of this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's important to point out though what we're talking disruptors. It's everything within the rules. You don't want rat bags in there creating all sorts of havoc, dance music, and all that sort of stuff. Some of the old boys don't like that, but you know what I mean? As long as everything's done with the way that golfs normally are done, the disruptors in there, and they disrupt in very subtle ways, generally, as I said, slow play, things like that. Alright, the second course that we're going to be playing, or the boys will be playing, is on the Sunday, and it's a little bit different tea time. Flagstaff Hill Golf Club. Three things about this golf course, gentlemen, that are going to stand out. The first one is nothing to do with the course. It's the 7 a.m. tea off on Sunday morning. The this is three days deep into the tour. Final day, Mum's Bum Cup on the line, and you have to be on that tea at 7am. This is gonna test, and whoever wins this year will certainly have earned that. Number two is there's a lot more water on this course, and number three, there's a lot more trees. So it's uh going to be a very challenging day, and whoever comes out in that green jacket at the end of the day will be a true champion, a true Mum's Bum Cup champion. Oh, geez, we haven't had a star like that since the early years of the tour, hey, or the Beat the Ball tour years ago, for those of you that don't know, out there in Beat the Ball Land, they never had any rest days. No, that only came in in Beat the Ball 7, and also there was uh six o'clock, six AM T's latest. Uh so you were out there swinging still drunk, some blokes, and uh some just didn't go to sleep. But uh we're back to the old days here, so it's a really a huge test this year. I think that Carnival and the boys have done very well. The golf committee this year have been exceptional with everything that they're doing, and they have really changed things up. Um we haven't even got to the itinerary uh properly, which we'll do down the track in one of these podcasts. Uh but really with the golf, you've got a 10am start on the Friday and then a 7am start, which means you're up on that bus at 6am, and if you're not on that bus, guess what, Mario? You don't come along again, mate.
SPEAKER_02You are gone from the beat the ball tour. It is one of the ten commandments of touring with the be the ball. And if you're not on the bus, mate, you're in trouble.
SPEAKER_01Yep, but that's you've only just got to get on the bus and get out there and pour yourself into a cart if needed. You don't have to do much. I mean, if you're not in contention, you just uh hop in and you play a bit of Ambrose stuff. There's been years boys have got on the bus, got off the bus, got into a golf cart, and then slept for hours on end.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, mate, coiners, he was a special for that. Offsider, hey?
SPEAKER_01Well, he was also a bit of a special for making poor old Glenn run, which uh wasn't much fun for Glenn. Yeah, poor Bastard. I remember that day you made him run 500 metres uphill, and every time Glynn nearly got to the cart, he'd floor it again offsider. Cost him a two year suspension, mind you, at some point. Ho ho, oh yeah, always a character, great fella, and uh yeah, pushed a little bit too far and then uh got himself suspended. Not for that, mind you, for something else, but uh oh, they are the memories. I believe there's a lot of these things that are coming out over if in time for Beat the Ball 20. There's uh that's a big celebration year with lots on the way. Getting back to the course, Flagstaff Hill. What do we think, gents? It's a championship stale there. This is really gonna test them. Like there's lots of bunkers and well positioned bunkers and halls, and and this is really fabulous. I think it's wonderful. Last year the courses were great, no problems with the courses. This year's gone up another notch or two back to the days where we're on high-class courses. Uh, and I am looking really forward to seeing what those last groups do and how they come through. I agree. Sentiments exact. Uh, it's gonna be a real thorough test, uh, different again to the Friday course. Uh, the Pat will be more open, Lynxy style. The Sunday will be more championship tree-lined bunkers, water style, uh, and it's gonna be a thorough test, especially with those two times. So looking forward to both those courses, and everyone should be. It's uh gonna be a fabulous, fabulous time.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I've hit some big ones, but that was a freaking rocket. It was like effortless but still ferocious. You gotta teach me how to do that, dude.
SPEAKER_01Alright, gents, to tie up today's episode for Be the Ball Daily, uh, we're gonna go back and have a look at the handicaps and groups as a whole for the teams on the Friday and Sunday Mums Bum Cups. Looking at these things, boys, here, we can see that the group that's gonna have the highest handicap, or the team, is the the catalogues. They've got 383, uh, which is all their players combined. Uh, after them will be the Wranglers on 363, which is uh quite strange, 353, in that they've got two less players. So the Wranglers are gonna be missing wok for sure, and and of course, uh, and or maybe one less player it is. Uh, but still, uh, that's good. But does that mean the Crocs do you think uh the team to beat here? I mean the the shooters have got 325 combined as a group. Uh the Cattled dogs are off 244, which is very low. You'd it'd be you'd struggle to see the Cattledogs make any ground in the THC Premiership in the golf. Uh although we will come back to them uh in a little bit more depth very shortly. Uh and the King Browns 277. So they too look very low in in these things. But but handicapped totals overall rarely equate into victories, do they? Let's let's go straight to you now with the Cattle Dogs, for instance, Mario. And looking at your group of golfers, what what are your thoughts on how they're going to go? Bearing in mind that there was four of your players that made the cut last year and uh certainly haven't gone backwards in handicaps, uh, so they've got to be a good chance again.
SPEAKER_02They are for sure, mate. We have got a very strong team, no doubt about that. With four live chances, no, let's start it away, mate. I'm top giving your stuff, former champion. He gives us stuff, don't worry about that. He is 25 now. That's I think one more than when he won in beatable six Melbourne. He finished seventh last year. London or Lamba, he won in beatable four Foster. He is off 35 now, mate. That is more than when he won in Foster, and he finished 14th last year. On Trend West, 39, mate. He was 12th last year. He is gonna be a chance. Don't forget he wore the yellow jacket in Sydney only five years ago. Ballroom Ben, he played great last year. Craig's Carnival walked off and said, you know what, he is going pretty good, and that handicap suits him. He got more back on the handicap this year. 37, he finished 13th last year, mate. That's their top four cattle dogs. So if you don't think we're a chance, mate, you can blow it out your ass.
SPEAKER_01I am thoroughly impressed. I um maybe even a little the juices might be starting to flow, Mario. I have never heard you rattle off statistics like that. Like you're a cattle dog down to your claws, aren't you? I love that sort of stuff. Sensational. That's just got me so pumped up. And I'm not even a cattle dog and I don't give a rat's ass about them. But oh, that was impressive. I've got to admit that was pretty damn good, Mario. Well done.
SPEAKER_02Thank you, Matt. I know my shit.
SPEAKER_01That you do. Yep, just uh running through the other teams, and I can't sum it up any better than what you did. You've got four live chances, which is fabulous. Uh devastating day 14. He had to miss last year's tour, pulled out late uh family reasons, as we know. And uh he says the 14 handicap, he's still paying for the sins of winning with Craig's 80s did a couple of years ago at Cairns. Uh Craigs off 21 now. Uh he's got a few back, but that I think that's still too short for him to win. Two radities, neither of those boys can win. Not with that, they're still severely hamstrung, shall we say. Tango Tom's another one who's still severely hamstrung to use your words, Ben. 22. Uh again, another previous champion. So just looking at this out of interest, Giriastaff Ting, Lonro Leber Ting, Diva Dave, Ting, Craig's the 80s dude Ting, Tango Tom Ting. Uh, they have five champions, Mum's Bum Cup champions, in that Cattle Dogs team. So Lonro Leber, take a bow. You've put together a great that's a stable to go to if you want to win.
SPEAKER_02He has a saint to us, mate. He is a saint to Lonro Leber. He puts the guys behind them, he cares about the people and the families, mate. He gets them we fly under the radar, except for me a little bit, but that's because of my voice mainly. Uh and he just puts them together and they grind out victories after victories, mate. They have been the most successful. Mum's Mum Cup team in the last seven or eight years. Hands down. Not you, Lottie.
SPEAKER_01Oh, a few. Yep, so as you touched on, a few of them still paying for their sins. Caesius Paul's an interesting one. He didn't miss the cup by much last year, and I think he had a disruptor in his group early. Uh, but Caesius can play, and off a handicap of 20, I would not sleep on him as far as uh getting in touch with the bookmakers is concerned. As we go over and have a quick look, he's at$15. I think that's wayovers. You know, strength and john are I think's way unders at three bucks. I think Caesius Paul's way overs at 15. So if I was jumping on there, I'd be having a little bit each way on Caesius. I think he's a good chance for the Cattle Dogs. And then of course you've got Dukesrow Daniel, who's off 15. He's got six back from last year. He can play the young fella, and he's had a wonderful year in all the other comps, so uh I wouldn't be riding him off too quickly either.
SPEAKER_02That's right, mate, and wouldn't it bring a tear to old Londrow's eye if Dukes Row could lift that trophy, which we don't have no more because some bastard lost it all those years ago. But if he could don the green jacket, mate, with the uh embroidered name on there, Dukes Row next to Londrow, but he'd be a little bit off that because it's been a few years, but you know what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01We know indeed. It would be a wonderful proud moment. It's happened once on the tour previously. Uh Roger, that diva, Tango Tom, the first father-son combination to actually win it. So uh it'd be lovely to see it happen for the Cattle Dogs uh again. Or first team for them. Right, alright, so the Cattle Dogs, four live chances. They're they're a good shot at actually winning the Mums Bum Cup, but I I think there's just a few too many holes in that lineup where they can do anything in the Tri Harder Cup premiership.
SPEAKER_03Oh, come on, mate, dangling wrinkly.
SPEAKER_01If Happy Gilmore was a be the baller, who would he be? Oh, that's easy. You don't even have to think about that. That's Ryan, saving private, Captain King Brown himself. Oh, that's who the Happy Gilmore of the tour is. No doubt about it. Well, you've spot on. And that's why we're gonna go over now to uh Ben. Sorry, down here, I forgot your name for a moment. Yeah, yeah, Ben's sitting down here snoozing, to be tadly honest.
SPEAKER_02You've got to offer more to the show than this, mate. This is rubbish.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I tend to agree with that. Uh shove it up your asses, boys. I don't give a shit. Alright, well it's time you did, because you're gonna talk us through this King Brown lineup and uh let us know if they can make a dent on the Tri Hard A Cup Premiership, if one of them can don the green jacket back to back. First man ever to do it for the King Browns was Manscaper Nads. Golf clap there, everyone. And uh so let's see if they can go back to back on that. Uh or will they get another wooden spoon? Oh, I'm tipping the wooden spoon, mate. Yeah, yeah, me too. They've got a good nice collection of them out there at King Brown Town. Uh God, we're still going on with those jokes. Alright, so tell us, Saving Private, he's off 30, former champion. Is he a chance? Of course he's a chance. If he ends up with all the clubs, if he finishes the eighteenth hole and he's still got every club that he owns in his golf bag, he's a big chance at taking this out. He won it in beat the ball too. He's uh back up way above it handicap-wise, so I can't see why he he can't win. He's also having a pretty damn hot year in uh most of the other comps too in beat the ball. Yes, he is. We should point that out. He's he's running second in Punner of the Year and he's in the top eight for Triple B. So it's not like the skipper's not leading from the front. He might just need to get that old draft day strategy a a bit better, that's all, but that'll we'll talk about that later on. Manscoper nads off 20. Any chance? Nab, everybody knows that. We've talked about nads. All right, Mustard Keane Matt, another former champion. So you've got three champions there yourselves in the King Browns. Uh 37, Mustard Keane. Can he win, you know? And it needs to rain a lot. We all know his mudder was a mutter, his fudder was a mutter, and uh he uh needs to see a little bit of rain out there, a little precipitation and uh or precipitation or perspiration. What is it? Oh, it's both both the same.
SPEAKER_02I'm looking at Mario at the moment. Yeah, mate, that cali I had for lunch, it's uh it's raising their temperature if you know what I'm saying. Yeah, can you pass me your handkerchief?
SPEAKER_01Nobody carries a handkerchief anymore, do they? That you know, I I used to carry lots of the monograms, of course, but uh No, just get back to it. So Mustard Key Matt. Uh outside chance, I'd say. Metro Matt, he was very good last year for a while there in that back nine uh of the second day. It looked like the uh brothers might have run one two, Nads and uh Metro, but uh we all know that that didn't occur. He finished ninth, he's off 41. He's got to be a fair chance. Uh yeah, I might jump in here. I followed that group and I've got to say he is a sweet striker of the ball, Metro Matt. Uh he can definitely win it. I think he is a really good live chance. All right, let's have a quick look at the odds board then and see what Metro Matt's paying, because we're looking for some value. Eight bucks off 41. He was off 40 last year, so he's out of stroke. Eight bucks and he finished ninth. So uh could be worth a little wager there as well. I'll be putting with some money on Metro Matt, no doubt about it. I think he's uh one of our real hot chances and a smoky to most punters. Trendset of Todd off 50. Uh can we do anything with Todd here? Old two-iron Todd. Well, it all comes down to his thighs and his calves. If he's built up those legs a little bit, I'm sure he can be really into it. But uh other than that, he tends to get the wobbles about uh, you know, a furlong from the post most times. But uh at 50, you've got to think he's a chance. Uh what sort of odds is he, Ron? Uh looking at Transetter Todd, uh, let me just find him here. He's$25 or$50. That's that's pretty good. If he's been you know having a few sly rounds up there around Newcastle way, he could be really good value here. 20 bucks at 25. Ooh, that's 500 bucks. That'd be very, very tasty indeed. The bookies wouldn't like it, but uh if you back Transetter Todd, you'd love it. Here's a guy that I think will win the Mum's Bum Cup one day. Will it be this year? Who knows? I can't tell you that. But General Buckleys, I'll never forget following that group when he parred the last six holes on the Sunday up at Cairns. And my goodness, if this guy got serious for a little while, he's a wonderful batsman in cricket, as we've all heard over the years. Uh, did you know that uh that Damian Cook was also a uh sand runner uh nippers? Very good uh sprint beach sprint champion. Uh just thought I'd throw that in there for anyone who hasn't heard. Uh General Buckley's 23. I think he's a he's a great chance. So I think there's two live smokies so far looking at this group quickly, uh, and that's him and Metro Matt. Tank Rider Jace, he's off 40 this year. He finished sixth last year. He was in the final group and was looking a big chance for quite a long way. He's got a stroke back, he's paying six dollars. Uh, he could be a really solid uh wager if you want to go that way. So let's chuck him in the mix as well there. So so far you're thinking that saving private, Metro Matt, General Buckley's, and Tank Rider Jace are all great chances, and that's before we get to Frogman Grant. Uh he can play. There's no doubt about it, this guy. Uh the handicap, him and Grutton Grown are in similar boats in that regard, that they can't make too many mistakes over the four days. And when you're drinking for four days, there's a lot of mistakes you're going to be making on a golf course, let's be honest. Uh, if he can hold it together and get through they say the first 27 holes and be in contention, come that final nine on the Sunday, he is a huge chance. Uh, he's been fabulous all year, Frog Ban. He's a he is a true team player. Uh, he's leading punter of the year at the moment. He went well in the tipping, he's going extremely well in the uh Tadu Trophy events, especially the super coach right now that's currently on. Going into be the ball 19. Uh, and I think off 21 he is another lay of chance. So we are quietly excited about all these chances. We've been we've had a few uh you know hits around King Brown Town, and uh we're going in quietly confident indeed. Oh, there's never any quietly confident with Ryan in your team. Come on. He likes to pump the chest and pump everyone up and get going and throw his golf clubs around and you know he's he's a swinger from way back.
SPEAKER_02Really, mate? I've heard about them. How how long has he been doing that for?
SPEAKER_01Oh, he's been playing golf since he was young, you know, a long time. Yeah, I think you're thinking of the wrong tape there. That's maybe something I'd mentioned to you earlier, Mario, at a different point in team. It's got nothing to do with golf, that would be or it sort of does, but uh really shouldn't go into it.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I'll uh alright, no worries.
SPEAKER_01And that brings us to one of the rookies of this season, Erwin Geordie, making his first tour. Uh quite a character, Geordie. He is gonna have a ball and he'll fit right in. And uh many think the King Browns, uh, it could be the uh undoing of him, but off a handicap of 15, it's not gonna take much to undo him, that's for damn sure. Yep, we all know the first year, you go away, uh you get to meet the boys, you find out what the tour's all about. If you if you win the first year, uh you're a dead set freak. And uh whilst Geordie is a freak in his own right, so I don't know if it's on the golf course where he's truly freaky deaky. All right, well, I think that's where we're gonna leave it today. We'll leave it with the freaky deekey Geordie. Uh I couldn't put it any other way. Uh, looking forward to having him on tour for his first year. And here early Harry will be another rookie that we'll get to. That's gonna do us, fellas. Keeping them short, sharp, and sweet. We'll be back tomorrow to uh talk about the other teams and an overview of them with the Mum's Bum Cup. Uh and coming up later on as we go through this month is uh we'll be visiting all of the uh home places for all these teams. So the ranch for the Wranglers will be going down to Cattle Dog Country, out to King Brown Town, of course, everywhere in between. Uh we'll be talking to the green keepers over at the golf courses. Shrubbery Gump, we've found him after a few years, and uh he's picked up a job on one of those courses, so we'll be talking to him. Bruce the Bookie will be making an appearance uh and all sorts of things happening on the way. At the moment, it's very informative as opposed to entertainments-wise. Uh we need to get all this stuff out about the itinerary, the tour, the mum's bum cup, how we're viewing things. Hope you're enjoying it so far, and we'll be back tomorrow. Uh, what's on for you this afternoon, Mario?
SPEAKER_02I've got a new job or I get to try out for a job today, mate. Whilst I can't get the EV tuba happening, and it's going to be as a lollipop man down at the local school. So I'm looking forward to that. You can get arrested for that shit. You just gotta be careful. What is it? No lollipop, mate, I'm not giving out lollipops, I'm holding the lollipop, the stop car while the children go across the crossings.
SPEAKER_01Oh right, okay. Just don't go giving out any lollies, mate. You're asking for trouble doing that. And let me tell you, or you know a little bit about this, do you, Lori? No, I don't no no. Don't know anything at all, thank you very much. And don't insinuate that I do. All right, what are you doing this afternoon then? Oh, I've got some OnlyFans stuff I've got to get done, uh, some honker stuff. Uh you know, things have been a little bit slow, so I'm doing some more risque nasal work, shall we say. All right, uh good for you. And uh Sandy, anything special on this afternoon? No, you know, I'll probably go out clubbing a little bit later tonight. It's a Tuesday. Is any place even open? Well there's lots open. There's always a lot of things happening. You just know just need to know what doors to knock on, let me put it that way. Ben, uh you're gonna be up to your old happy wholesome self, are you tonight? Well, uh I I'm gonna be fine, thank you very much. I'm feeling like I'm being a bit picked on down here, and uh I might just come in tomorrow with a bazooka and blow all you bastards away. Well, it would have surprised me, like there's very little that surprises us anymore. Please don't bring any weapons in, uh that's all I ask. All right, be the ballers, we will be back in touch tomorrow as we count down to the tour. Thirty sleeps to go now to the Mum's Bum Cup Tour for Be the Ball 18. Oh, just before we go, I've got to give a shout out. It's a shout out that we've all wanted to do, but we've been so wrapped up in what we're doing today that we haven't done it. You want me to say it, Ronald or do you want to say it as a croc? It's a bit of croc news. Oh I better say it, I think, on behalf of the crocs, and it is wonderful news, and it's something I should have brought up a little bit earlier. Uh but Joshaby next. Can you believe this that Joshabe and his lovely better half, Fiona, are expecting a baby on September tenth this year. Is it theirs? What sort of question is that?
SPEAKER_02Well it who's else would it be, mate, if they're expecting their baby? It's their baby.
SPEAKER_01Oh gosh, you boys can confuse things. Well done, Joshabe. Well done, Fiona. That is wonderful news. I didn't even know he had it in him. I don't think it was him.
SPEAKER_02Unless Fiona is French for Philip or something.
SPEAKER_01I don't think that's the case at all. He's a marvellous ball of masculinity, is out, Josh. Well, you're not really helping your cause there, are you? If they're expecting a baby on the tenth, what has it been delivered? Is it? Well that's what doctors normally do. Oh, doctors deliver babies tour to door now, do they? Just take 'em like DoorDash or uh Amazon. Something like that. What are you talking about, Muddy?
SPEAKER_02You're saying that if the delivery doesn't come on the tenth, it's not theirs anymore.
SPEAKER_01Oh, shut up, everyone. Josh Fiona, well done. Go you croc, a baby croc on the way, the next generation on the way. Did he say what sex is? Well, I'm pretty sure he's worked it out. Oh, you mean what the sex of the baby is?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, mate, is it a boy or a girl? Because the girls can't come on their tour. You know that. And I don't think Carnival wants to start a girls' tour. Although there's lots of daughters that might go on it, but I don't know if they'd really get into it.
SPEAKER_01Enough, gents. See you tomorrow, ballers. Well done, Joshua.
SPEAKER_02Who is Skippy Goldenbaum? Jim Morale!
