Hello, hello, hello everybody. Welcome back. Week two of Beat the Ball run and done as we start to find our feet under us as we head into this new season. And it is competitive, is it what, fellas? Oh tell me about it. Uh uh the triple B's on the weekend. I noticed some of the results there. Oh, it's compact, mate, compact, compact, tin sardines, that sort of stuff. Uh and there's no eliminations, of course, until the end of August, but I'll tell you what, there's a few blokes dragging their asses at the moment. Skippers will be starting to get apoplectic. Oh can you spell that for me, mate? No, I can't, thanks for asking. And what did you get up to on the weekend, Sandy? Well, it was the World Cup uh finals, wasn't it? Quarter finals, now we're down to the semifinals. The top four teams in the world and uh breaking news Donald Trump has just asked that America be placed in the final. And FIFA being the kind gentleman they are, they're going to allow that.
SPEAKER_00It's just which one of the four teams they will kick out and hopefully not start a war with. That's not too bad, actually, Sandy. Well I had a very good weekend, thank you. Went out to Rambick Races, saw Carnival out there with a crew, and uh they were all having a great day, a lovely winter's day, a couple of winners there too. I heard you got a little bit lucky in the last. Well, I did indeed. It must be said I I like the horse called Aroha Stone that was paying about sixty to one. Uh lucky enough to get on it a couple of days before, and came in all the way to twelves, but I still got forties after scratchings and deductions. So uh at uh last race of the day, get out stakes, it led into a wonderful nut. Well, I went to watch some of the rugby league and uh Daniel Two Poo, uh three poo. Uh three trays in his three hundredth game.
SPEAKER_02Two poo one we. Sounds like one of Ben's daily movements. Looking at the rugby league over the weekend, it all kicked off. We had seven games slate now that Origin is out of the way. Oh, just by the way, with Origin Boys, you celebrate hard.
SPEAKER_01Yes, mate, I went out to Canterbury Banks Town Highland punch ball, and we were punching everything, mate. They were punching bowls, cars, telegraph poles, whatever it talked to blues, blues, blues on you boys. Great victory. Yeah, they never bloody looked like a butt, did they?
SPEAKER_02They asked it in the first game. Second game, fair income. They'd like they were strangers in their second half. Third game, but up there in the cauldron, cauldron my ass. How that all came together and the blues just went bang, cop that. It was a tough series, actually, and Queensland can feel a little bit hard done by I'll tell you what, they've got their eyes painted on up there in the bunker on occasions, don't they? Uh Jack Bostock, he's got the longest middle finger in Australia, and uh that hit the ball, or definitely hit the ball. Anyway, things happened. Bradman Best, he got to scoot away and score another try. That was the highlight of the entire game for me, actually, watching Bradman Best take off and his teammate Kalen Ponger, as we know, another superstar of the game, and chasing him down and he got to him, got and you thought, who's gonna win? How many times at training have they wanted to do this like balls out all on the line? And Bradman just puts that little fend into Kaelin's right shoulder, he ate some grass and only saw Bradman's ass for the rest of that run. Uh it was a super effort, super series as always, and that big television deal.
SPEAKER_00Wow wee. Yes, I'd like to get my hands under some of that, I tell you. Five point three billion dollars.
SPEAKER_02And the big thing out of that is a lot of it's not contra. In the past they'd come up with, you know, massive figures, but a lot of it would be contra deals, which means, you know, television shows and advertising and and things like that where they don't charge them screen time. They put a dollar a nominal dollar value on it, and that becomes part of the package. But uh, a lot of it is cash money and the AFL, they must be sitting around looking over their shoulders a little bit now, going, Holy shit, what what do we do? Where do we go? Yeah, it's all a bit stale right now, the AFL isn't it? I mean, the biggest thing they've announced in the last five years is they're going to Tasmania. The Tasmanians don't even bloody want them, you know, a $1.3 billion stadium or something, and all the locals down there. And let's be honest, a lot of them are lefty green. He's there all going, Why are we spending money on this? They have no international football. I don't know how many bloody more teams they want to put in Sydney and Brisbane in, you know, the two biggest eastern seaboard states. Victoria's there as well, but he had Brisbane and Sydney together, uh, and New South Wales, Queensland for that matter, the population, the rest of Australia put together doesn't equal the the amount they've got in those two states. It's close, but that's the way it is.
SPEAKER_01But they'll still go, okay, mate, the AFL, no worries at all. I bet you they give them a bigger TV deal next time.
SPEAKER_02I wouldn't be so sure. They'll want a bigger TV deal for bragging rights over the NRL, but I'm not sure how they're expanding their market anywhere, how they're bringing new revenue into the game. I mean, they've spent hundreds of millions of dollars getting these interstate teams just to settle and do well, especially in Brisbane and Queen uh Sydney, of course. Um but then again they're still pumping money into these places. Gold Coast, there's another one. So I mean they've been successful at different times, all of them, except maybe the Suns. Um but that's an interesting thing just to watch going forward next time the AFL television deal's done. Oh yeah, natural inflation will make sure that it probably is a bit bigger again, but uh, I tell you what, it's head-to-head on like Donkey Kong, and don't they love PVL down there in the southern state, the Mexicans? Well, it's all on now. Interesting to see. Alright, uh other games over the weekend. Dolphins. What the fuck happened there? I can't put it any plainer than that, and I apologize for the language. 66 nil at home to of all teams the Sharks.
SPEAKER_00My goodness. Well I missed this, of course, being at it, Ramick, and I tell you what, haha, ain't I glad I did? Uh, I tipped the Dolphins like about five million other people, and they never even scored a point. Like three weeks ago they're saying, Oh, this team could challenge the Panthers. Pig's ass they can. They're nowhere near them, and I tell you what, no team's ever won the comp after losing fifty by fifty points in a season or or once having fifty put on them. Uh so Cienara Dolphins, that's it. Yeah, they're missing their halfback, of course, Osaia, Katoa. And uh yeah, if you have a new breakdown and you need a Katoa, I'd say Osaia.
SPEAKER_01He's pretty good at that. So is Siony, mate, from the Sharks. He can also help out if they need a hand.
SPEAKER_02The Canberra Raiders, of course, flog the Bulldogs, sent them on their way.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, mate, we were very unlucky in that game.
SPEAKER_02It was 40 to 16, you dumb bastard. How are you unlucky? 18 or 19 decisions that went against them. Well, Critic Right and third his shoulder again, which no one really cares about now that Origin's over, and he did his job for the Blues on Wednesday night, other than Bulldogs fans. Before you all come at me, I know you're gonna come at me. Uh, but they are in a bit of pain, aren't they? The dogs. They are certainly not going to be top four this year. They'll be lucky to make the top eight.
SPEAKER_00Uh but last year their draw people forget they had a really good draw last year, the same as the Raiders, the team they played.
SPEAKER_02Uh it's amazing. It's n one other thing that came out of that television deal is the NRL has taken control of the draw again, which makes a massive difference. You know, uh anyone who thinks that the draw doesn't matter, they're dead set, have their heads up their bottoms because it makes an incredible difference. But now that they've got the draw back, they'll go out to 20 teams in the next couple of years. Uh, I imagine that it's going to settle down their two division conference, probably, but let's not go down that track. Nope, this isn't the forum for that, and we won't be discussing that today. Um the you went out, Ben and watched the Roosters play the Eels.
SPEAKER_00I certainly did. I saw the first half anyway. It was as boring as all batch it, to be totally honest. But the Roosters flew home in that second half and touched up the Eels, who themselves now look like getting Jerome Louis in another huge sporting story in the NRL.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, what's going on out there at Tigerland again, eh? They can fuck things up that mob, I'll tell you. Take it easy on that. Yeah, I know you're a tiger to your bootstraps, Ron, but I'm telling you, mate, they've done it again. Well, Jerome Louai came in. There's another bus driver. I'm sick of bus drivers. I don't want to see another guy say get on the bus, it comes to the tigers. Ivan Cleary, get on the bus, he pisses off, and then you've got Jerome Lewai. Oh, I've got the I'm driving the bus now, uh, and then he pisses off. The only bloke I want to see in there driving that bus for the Tigers is Erica B arrives. I trust Erica B to drive it properly and to not get off the bus when we were still bloody going, because that's what's happening with the Tigers. Tiggers doing what Tigers do. Couple of great games yesterday afternoon. Uh the Rabbitows, uh, the biggest birthday party in the world for Jai, and uh it's terribly sad what already declining, as we've noticed, I'm sure if you you're watching. Uh but what a wonderful day it was out there. Party hats everywhere, the wiggles, you know. If you're drawing the wiggles to your games, that's that's like drawing ACDC these days. And uh the wiggles were there, and it was a great game, and the rabbido's did they clock off or what? They suffered a couple of setbacks early. Dane Jennings had hurt a couple of bets uh in in the beatable, and it also uh hurt a lot of other things. They had a switch around players. Uh I don't think I've ever seen a disproportionate uh wing more than ever than Jai Gray up against uh Dominic Young. And uh Jy Gray held his own in all honesty. Uh but they held on. The Knights come flying home, it's like they woke up finally after not scoring points for about a month. Uh, three tries in seven minutes, so I think the uh Rabidos may have played the Knights into form, wouldn't like to be playing them next week at full strength. Uh great game of footy though, 26-24. Talking about clock and knock, what about those Sea Eagles? My goodness. They never had that game lost until they lost it. It was a horrendous day for goal kickers. I don't know what's going on out there. Maybe they're at weird angles or somebody's got the old chisel out on their uh kicking tees or something. But uh both goal kickers kick one from four, and the Sea Eagles found a way to get beat at Brookie, and Kieran Foreign, he's gone from golden child to uh now what the hell do I do? Well he speaking of draws, he had a great draw when he came in as coach. I mean their first four weeks I think they played the bottom four teams, something like that. Crazy. So he was always going to look a lot better. They've always had a good roster, especially with uh big Olikoa 2 out there and uh Tommy Turbo back, and he's seemingly not getting injured, which is always a big bonus for Tommy, especially for the super coach players out there. But they found a way to get done, and the Cowboys, hey, sneaky sneaky, up they go. They can't win the comp though, no way in the bloody world.
SPEAKER_01Well, what I say then, mate, if they can make the top four or they can give the teams a run, they need home semi-finals.
SPEAKER_00I think the same pretty much with the Warriors. I think if they get a couple of home finals, they're gonna be very difficult to beat.
SPEAKER_02Well, they've all still got to beat Penrith as far as I'm concerned. Uh and the last game, of course, that was the Storm getting over the Titans down there in Melbourne, 22 to 18. If the Titans could remember how to win, they probably would have won this game. Uh the Storm are a shadow of them former selves. I know Munster was out, yeah, but I mean he hasn't been tackling that great, let's be honest, all year. He's had his big three games for origin. Uh, I don't think their big three or four can do it all themselves. I don't think Harry Grant, uh I don't think Jerome Hughes is playing anywhere near the ball he was playing the last couple of years, and maybe he's carrying a few injuries, still a bit busted. Uh Munster, he's getting older, let's be honest. He still have good games and he'll still do good things in games, but whether he can consistently do it. And uh f Sue Falongo out there at the back, they're there four, but I'll tell you what, they're carrying some passages around them. Oh yeah, when you look at blokes like Alex Chan coming off the bench and they're signing Bronson Sherry from next year, wouldn't be surprised if he uh, you know, something happened and he may get down there early, although June 30 has come and gone, so probably is looking at next year. Uh the storm. They just got over the top of the Titans, who haven't been too bad lately.
SPEAKER_00Now the Titans have been quite good actually. They've been consistent the last month. They're only just losing. So uh each each week. So that's getting you know, that's much better than getting your asses kicked every week, week after week after week. Alright, so that was all the footy. We better look at the beat the ball stuff, hey?
SPEAKER_01Tattoo Trophy! The British Open.
SPEAKER_02Okay, just before we get into the results from last weekend, we have our first Tattoo Trophy event coming up for season BTB 19, and that is the British Open, otherwise known these days as the Open for marketing purposes. We had the Scottish Open on the weekend. Did any of you see any of that, boys? Yeah, I did. It was a great effort from Min Woo. Oh, he nearly wooed a min, but uh didn't quite get there. And in the end, it was a fabulous win to Tom Kim. Not Mu Win, Win Moo. No, I don't even know what you're talking about there. But Tom Kim, the young guy, he was in tears. It was a very big victory. Robert McIntyre, the Scott. He was on top going into the last round. Uh, there was quite a few up there, a very congested leaderboard. Uh, and it's, as we know, is the lead-in to the open. So how do we play it, Sandy? Uh it's very simple indeed. Uh, during the week you will be sent out the odds and field for the open this year that starts on Thursday 010, about three o'clock in the afternoon. Quite pleasant viewing for the golfers amongst us who like watching the mergers. Uh, from there you pick three golfers in order, text them through to Carnival, and they all have multiplayers attached to them. That's right, the multiplier. So your first pick that you send through in order for the three, that is times six, whatever the odds. So if your player, player one, finishes anywhere from winning to the top 20, there are odds for each category, he will get them multiplied by six. So it's like a six dollar bet. Your second player will have a three multiplier attached, and your third player a one multiplier. Any insights into the way to play this for the rookies, Ben?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, of course there is. You've got to look at it and you think, okay, if I'm going to take the six times multiplier, that's probably one of the faves in the top 15 players. So you'd say I'll have him as my six tame. Three tame, you might go to the middle order and uh the middle order batting. A fabulous effort if you're in the middle order and do well. And then of course your one multiplier, you pick a roughie. That's what I'd be doing anyway. I don't know about the rest of these numbskulls, but that's what I'm going to be doing.
SPEAKER_01Yes, mate, that's the way I like to go six times on a Ruffy, though, because if it gets really rough, he's gonna be paying heaps.
SPEAKER_02But it's not real money, you drungo. No, it isn't, Mario, it is it. Uh so you don't get the cash. So you want to win. So obviously if if there's 48 that enter it, and normally the full field will enter, uh, of the BTB 19, that is, 48 players. Uh, if you win it, you will get 48 points towards the uh tattoo trophy and the try harder cup. Plus you win a hundred bucks on top, uh which comes off your fees next year. Should you return for Beat the Ball 20 the anniversary year, why wouldn't you? You'd be crazy not to. It's gonna be huge, massive 20-year anniversary. Only come around once. Yep, they do. So there it is, brief run through. Carnival will be posting lots of stuff through the chat group this week for all the newbies in particular, and we've got a handful this year, uh, and a refresher for the others. So the open starts Thursday, concludes Monday, our time.
SPEAKER_01Big basketback.
SPEAKER_02Triple B. Week two of the Triple B tipping contest, and we were in Melbourne at Caulfield, we were in Sydney at Ramwick, and we were up at Doomban in Queensland. Uh heavy track in Sydney, know that for a fact, don't you, Ben?
SPEAKER_00Certainly do. I think it got back to about a heavy nine, possibly an eight, but it was a heavy track all day.
SPEAKER_02I believe that it was a nice and good track up there in Doomin, so that made racing a little bit better up there, and it was a a s sure, soft track down there in Melbourne. Looking at our tipsters for the week, and my goodness, was it a congested ladder? It was a surprisingly slow-scoring week for uh, you know, 29 races, and uh the winner, of course, uh had 109.9, and that is Tank Rider Jace.
SPEAKER_00You beauty go you good thing. King Brown's all over town at the moment. We are smashing it up.
SPEAKER_02Yep, it was a pretty good effort. He won clearly, too. He had a really good day, Tank Rider. So well done, mate, 109.9. In second place, Robbo's pocket rocket a wrangler, 86.3. They've been very strong, Sandy, over the last few years with the tipping. Hey, it's one of the cornerstones of their attack, and uh Robo was right up there. Second on 85.3, I think it was at 86.3. Strengthened Jonna. Yes, the croc. He came in third, 84.4. Nice return to form for Johnner. He's done sweet FA for the last little while in the tipping, but he seems to be going quite well across all the comps this year. Maybe his mind's back on it, got the blinkers on, um, possibly not traveling all over the world as much as he does.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, that'll never stop, mate. You see him, he goes everywhere. You could be opening an envelope, and John will be there making sure that it's not stuck down too hard. You know what I'm saying? He likes to get around, mate. If he was a girl, he'd make a lot of money, put it that way.
SPEAKER_02Well, we don't have to go down that track at all. Uh Major Mortar, he finished fourth, 81.8. Big top Al. There's a rookie. He is starting the season on fire, big top Al. He's on 80 points in fifth spot in Benzaber 78.6. So the shooters are up there. Two shooters, two Wranglers, a King Brown, and a croc in the top half dozen or so. Looking down at the bottom end of the ladder for the week, my goodness, I tell you what, there's some boys who uh have gone from the penthouse to the outhouse. Josh will be next. You know, he had that score last week that uh took, you know, math scientists from NASA to compile and get together. He only had 35.5 last week, which was only good enough for fifth last. Big win Neil. Started slowly this year. Maybe the back's playing up with a mine now, I'm not sure. But 32.2, a disappointing week. Warwick Farm Feller and Erica B arrives, couple of cattle dogs, they missed the mark 30 and 20. But the big one, one of the key pickups in the player draft for this season was next to Wynne Nath, who was poached from the Wranglers, and he ran dead last for the week with 17.7.
SPEAKER_01He couldn't pick a nose in a room full of faces, mate. My goodness. That's not very good. Will they have Ben's a bit worried?
SPEAKER_02I don't think so at this stage, anyway. No, no, no, no. Yeah, this week two, plenty of time. It's only nine weeks until they have to eliminate the first four. Well, looking at the monthly medal, we'll look at the top few. Joshua B next is still out in front on 259.2, but that lead has been cut severely. Erwin Geordie 192.5 in second. He had a bit of a down week himself last week. Uh not up there with what he had the week before, but not bad either. 67.2. So well done. Geordie has started well. Manscaper Nads, Nadji's always thereabouts. He uh last year he had a fair income crack at this contest, and this year the form is carried over. Those King Browns, you can see the fire in their eyes, they do want to win the premiership this year. And Nadji's on third on 186.5. Couple of cattle dogs, entre and we're devastating Dave the next couple of places. The yearly leaderboard, so after two weeks, and it's very, very early. This is the Melbourne Cup of tipping. This is actually further. 4,800 metre event. Josh would be next is out front. Same score as the monthly. Erwin Geordie's second Manscaped wins third. Uh, making up the top eight, we've got, of course, entre Mes and devastating Dave in fourth and fifth. Kelpie that condo. He's up there. So two crocs in there with two Cattle Dogs in that top eight at the moment. Wynn Danielson, the best of the shooters. Oh, bringing those new boys in, that new blood, has really pumped him up. And he's up there in seventh spot. Robbo's pocket rocket sneaks into eighth at the moment. Very congested board there. But if we look at the bottom, we've got the four that are looking down the battle of the gun. They could be eliminated first at this stage. As we said, a long way to go, but you certainly don't want to be swimming in the Red Sea at this point in time. You could be raising a big win nil, couple of crocs, fourth laughter, third last. Uh next of Winneath, he has had a Barry Crocker to begin. 54.1 points. He is also under threat early. Uh second last. And now it could be a raise. Oh, our bust driver from up there on the Goldie. He uh he's struggling to find winners at the moment, but as we know, long way to go yet. Yep, that's it in the teams for this so far. Early days, and uh with the teams' events, I would uh look at the THC Premiership trophy. Uh the points there for the premiership, I wouldn't worry about it at this stage too much. It's not until everyone's had a punt. All the scoreboards are very volatile early in the year. Uh probably for the you know the first week in September. That's when things get serious. We've got a few tattoo trophy event points that will go in. The open, of course, and then we go into spring racing across Sydney and Melbourne. Um, but the team's point just for the Triple B's, uh, the Wranglers are doing well at the best at the moment. 816 out in front of the catadog, second seven, six, two, uh, crocs six six zero, six five, four for the King Browns, and the shooters bringing up the rear 636. But as we know, very early days. DALE MS. Looking at the Dally M, sorry about that, boys. Uh, we have Tank Rider Jace who picked up the three points last week, of course. Robbo's Pocket Rocket 2, Strength and Johnna 1. So that's uh two weeks, six different names up there already in what's going to be very competitive. Uh overall, we're looking at Joshua B next and tank rider Jace on top with three points. Robbo's Pocket Rocket air, Wynn Geordie, a couple of Wranglers there, Sandy. They're doing very well, the boys early. Manskeeper Nads and Strength and Johnna. They're in third on 1.8. So six players have got points, the rest don't. And the table overall, uh, in week two, again, we keep saying it, it's only bloody early. Uh, King Brown's on top 484 for the Dally M's. Crocs 443, Wranglers 439, Shooters 430, Cattle Dogs 430. Nothing in it at all at the moment. That two will even out as we go along. Thank you, boys.
SPEAKER_01Punter of the year party.
SPEAKER_02What a great week on the punt it was, fellas. I'm gonna leave you to quickly go through your teams and how they punted. We'll start with you, Laurie, and the shooters. Who was up for you, boys? Oh, we had Smitty Wynn backing up again from his week one victory, and he was joined by Barnes' boy Dave. Oh, conniving old punter. His cambo. He knows his shit, he knows we'd end the horses' heads on, that's for sure and certain. How do they go? Smitty Winnie did no good with his first bet, but then he took an NRL multi. He needed three blokes to score tries, and uh they all did so Sunday afternoon, so he turned his 40 bucks into 122, so that's pretty damn good. And the shooters are off to a pew pew. Great start for the year, I tell you. Oh, my voice is cracking a little bit. Uh Barnes' boy Dave Cambo, he uh had a horse, he backed a couple of horses, one reciprocal. He likes to go a bit each way, Cambo, as we know. Um, right across life. And uh he collected 12 bucks, he got a place, so that's it. So he only lost eight for the week. So not bad for the shooters at all. But Smith he win. He did that, did it well, and he's up again next week with a big six-o bucks, sixty dollars, three lobsters in the back pockets. Yeah, that's a really, really good effort. And uh how about those cattle dogs, Mario?
SPEAKER_01Well, Dukes Raw, Daniel, he took an NRL Marty and it did jack shit, so he's gone. Uh so bad luck, Dukes Row. We'll see you again soon, mate. And uh KCS Paul, he he went to the races and he backed a couple of horses, but uh the horses are still running, so he did no good as well.
SPEAKER_02That makes it none from four. You I think you're the only team, maybe, that uh hasn't picked a winner yet in your first four bets.
SPEAKER_01That's okay, mate. We will be fine. Uh in Leber we trust, in the cattle dogs we trust, you know, and uh the doggies, uh, they did no good on the weekend too. Actually, it's been a shit house week, mate. Oh, let's be honest.
SPEAKER_02All right, that's more like it. Uh copy of that condo. He went very well for the Crocs, and we're talking about them right now. And uh he collected 86 bucks. He had a couple of bets, and the second one lobbed, and that horse was. I think you'll find it was both horses, actually. One. Yes, it was Tazima. He got up at four bucks, he had ten bucks on that, so that's very good work down there in Sydney on that wet track. Tazima. Well, nice work. And his second one, winner's edge, and I'll tell you what, he certainly had the edge. That one up there, or sorry, even further south, Melbourne, race seven number eight, winner's edge. So he found the edge all right, condo, and he had two winners, so he collected just over eighty bucks from the two of them, split the 20, 10 bucks each. So he's also got two lobsters next week. He's up to forty bucks. Nice, very very nice start, sort of say, for the Crocs. Uh, Nickabee Rising went the World Cup. He took Denmark to uh roll over the pommies, and uh in previous years that was a big chance, but not this year. What a turn up that World Cup has been. The top four teams we noticed it at the start of the year, uh top of this podcast, actually. And uh yeah, they're there, but uh Nikaby could not get that loser up uh unfortunately. So he's out and it'll move on to someone next week for you, Crocs. Yeah, but a good start for the Crocs. Very happy with that. We needed that too after the first week. Strength and John and Mikabee McKenna still licking their wounds. Over to the King Browns. And uh Mustard Key Matt, he took an NRL multi on Sunday, and it did no good, unfortunately. Um Turbo, Fire Longo. Jennings was ruled out early. Uh there were some uh refunds for that, but the other bets that had other legs all stood, uh, and Turbo didn't score, neither did Fire Longo. So uh Mustard, not off to the start, he'd be happy about, but I'll tell you who is, and that's General Buckley's.
SPEAKER_00You let me talk about this King Brown because he is on fire, one of the reigning Mums Mum Cup champions in the golf, and he has carried that form over beautifully in the Beatleball 19, and he is a force to be reckoned with. He took a four-leg multi on the World Cup and uh got all of 'em. How's that? All favourites got up, 20 bucks on it, and he collected $169. So well done, Buckleys. We love you as the King Brown. Now you may be pushing for one of those top spots soon. Uh a few nervous boys up there, I'd imagine, but Brown's on far.
SPEAKER_02Yep, they are. They've started the season very well indeed. So he'll have 40 bucks up there next week as well. I should say Barnes's boy Dave, because he didn't double his stake, he's much like Carnival in week one. Uh, he does not get to bid again next time because he didn't get at least the stake back. Uh he got something back though, so that keeps him a little higher up that leaderboard for the punter of the year. Uh that left two more punters to come, and that was Highwire Wheel Water Tank Matt. Both not bad punters. Uh, Highwire Wheel struck out though. He took a World Cup multi and uh also an NRL one, nothing. Whereas Water Tank Matt, he went to the races and he's normally pretty good on the ponies, but even looking at the tipping, our defending champion, he may have a little bit of a hangover from Be the Ball 19.
SPEAKER_01He has not started well, that is for sure, in the tipping. He is struggling a little bit in the baskets already. Oh, where is he? Yeah, he's in the bottom ten, mate, on uh only 91.6, but I'm sure he will be okay. He will hit his straps.
SPEAKER_02Don't worry about water tank, Matt. He may have sprung a little bit of a leak early, but he will be fine. The punting, unfortunately, no good. He uh went Melbourne race three number one, a horse that came over from Adelaide with a pick at fence of winds, like a drifter. It was well, it drifted alright, like a drifter, it moved straight on without uh winning or getting us any money. And the second one was AA Captain, and it uh went down badly in the last in Sydney. A lot of support for it, but uh carrying too much weight. He is a big fella, the water tank Madden. If he was on it, yeah, that poor bugger horse, he may never race again. Alright, so there are the bets that we had. Looking at the punter of the year ladder, uh being a bit of a changeup. You'd think Smitty win after two good weeks to start with would be on top, but he's not. General Buckley's 149 after the bets come out, obviously. This is your net results always in the punter of the year ladder. Uh he's on 149, General Buckley's on top. Smitty winning second for the shooters, 124. Copy that condo, the Crocs. He skips all the way up there to third on 66.
SPEAKER_00He actually went early last year and led the punter of the year for a long time. He must go a rat in uh July, August, those sort of months.
SPEAKER_02Maybe it's his star sign, maybe it's uh the gods of racing. They just prefer him at this time of year. Maybe it's the fact that there's only donkeys and desperates running around all these tracks at the moment, let's be honest. Not easy to pick winners. Uh so they're the top three, and then we go all the way down. A lot of zeros in there because a lot of boys are yet to bet. Uh they will be on, obviously, in coming weeks. Uh, if you're sitting behind Smittywin at the moment, don't get uh too excited because he is up again, so that'll be three weeks in a row, and uh Major Mortar is sitting there just chimping at the bit trying to uh get ready to have a start, but they won't let him race at the moment. Uh Carnival is at minus four, he's down in 33, uh, and in 34th is Barnes' boy Dave on minus eight, uh, and then all the boys who have yet to get off the mark on minus 20 who have had bets but done no good. So there it is. Looking at the teams for the punter of the year after a couple of weeks, uh the shooters are well out on top on 860, King Brown second 770, uh, the Crocs 671, the Kettledog 648, and the Wranglers continue to bring up the rear in the punting. Uh we had the Punter of the Year champion two seasons ago in Robo's pocket rocket, but last year, as we know, one of the stables wore the vests, and it is uh not a great start for us again. We've uh only had that main s collect from Carnival in week one, so looking at the boys coming up next week, they're gonna have to do very well. We will go to that. So punters up next week are in fact, listen up, boys, this could be you. Josh and the sergeant's up for the shooters, his first time this year, 20 bucks he's got. Smitty wins 60 bucks uh for the catalogs. Eric of he arrives and on trem Wes. They both get their first start to the season, so good luck, boys. Copy that condo, he remains in the saddle for the Crocs, 40 bucks, two lobsters. Josh of B next gets his first crack at a punt this year. Then we have a Trendsetter Todd, who won this three or four years ago, and I still believe he has the highest collect in the history of Beatleball. Uh, it was close to a thousand bucks. Uh, he gets his first crack this season. General Buckley's is there, he's got 40 bucks to play with, and then we have a rookie, Lion Tamer Lockheed. Goodness knows if he knows anything about racing, he maybe he'll go a sports multi instead. He gets his first ever bet in the beatable. Good luck, Lion Tamer. Uh, and Robo's pocket rocket. As we said, he's won this twice over all the years of the Beatleball. Uh, and he gets his first chance to maybe put some coin and scores into that Wrangler total. But that's it. Well done. And congratulations to the winners last weekend for collect, and that's good stuff, boys. Uh overall, we are up to plus 47 after two weeks, 47 bucks going back to us, so that's a good thing at the moment. Well done. Let's see if we can keep it in the bloke.
SPEAKER_00BTB 19 Stable Wars. Stable Wars after two weeks, and we've got the Woods Waterhouse stable for those Matty King Browns out on top. 129, Black Caviar in second for the shooters. Go you good things. 124, 124, Spice Girls in third on 46. Then we start to get into the minuses. In fourth place, Mickelson Hayes, minus 24 for the Wranglers. The shooters, minus 28, Norman Cummings. That would be Bunsey's boy Dave Stable. And then we've got five teams yet to get off the mark. And at the bottom of that, we're gonna leave the Wrangler team there, McElroy Wallace, because they wore the vest last year and they'd already be shitting bricks, I would imagine, that they have to do it again.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's not somewhere you want to be, and they deserve to be sitting there at the moment after their efforts last year and this year. So the McElroy Waller stable of Side Chase Sam, Highwire, Wheel Lion Tame and Lockheed Erwin, Geordie, and Spin Smith Liam. At least two or three of those boys wore the vest last year. But all eyes are on that King Brown stable. Up top, thanks to General Buckley, saving private the skipper. He uh sorted out those stables well by giving himself Buckley's there. Um Buckley's chance, my god, he has got a big chance. Nadsey, he'll have to wait at least another week. Frogman Grant and Corporal Crowfoot, uh, another rookie. They'd all be very happy with themselves at the moment because their chances of winning or winning, being awarded, shall we say, those waiters' vests are slim to none, even at this early stage of proceedings.
SPEAKER_01Did you get the license number? What? The truck that ran over your face. THC Premiership.
SPEAKER_02Alright, with all those big kahunas out of the way, let's have a quick look at the THC Premiership after week two, and on top of the Wranglers on 1856. Crocs are in second one seven nine six. Shooters third, one seven, six, zero. King Browns, they've moved up from last to second last on one seven four zero, only twenty points off third, and the Catalog 1667. Yeah, it's pretty condensed though. You can't read too much into this at this stage.
SPEAKER_01Not until the Tattoo Trophy events start to come in. So next week, when we have those points come in from the Alp, and then things start to really change up.
SPEAKER_02That's right, Mario. You are all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake. That's exactly what happens. So that's the THC Premiership at the moment. Uh shall we look at something else? Tattoo Trophy. We've covered the open that is starting this week. That's the first one that everyone is involved in for Beat Able 19, but we do have some competitions moving along halfway through their season. Just the way it works out. We've gone over that before. Uh NRL tipping for the week. Uh there was someone, Gold Digger Gaverby, he played one of his three jokers. He got eight points. That was the highest score for the week, but he's still a long way down that ladder. Uh the other scores, non-joker scores. Lonro Leber and Deva Stating Dave topped the week with six out of eight. Uh six out of seven each. Well done, fellas. Great effort. Strength and John leads overall as we now head into the last eight weeks, where there will be eight games played per week, uh, and we are in the run to the finals. Uh full slates every week. Uh, it's going to be very, very big for the NRL tipping. AFL tippings at full houses as well every week. And the supercoach uh for the boys in there. They're all really competitive, I've got to say. Yeah, they're going very well there in the AFL tippings. Strength and John is on top of that one too. 136, he's out by two from Roger that Dever. Ben Zebear and next to Winnaith, they played uh their jokers in the AFL last weekend. They both scored 16. As did Goldiga Gaverby. He played his jokers everywhere by the look of it. He had 20 points for the week, which was the top score. So well done there, Gaverby. Lane Tieba, Lockheed, big top Al Borth down the bottom of the ladder in the AFL tipping. They played theirs and picked up 16 as well. But strength and journal looking very strong. Yeah, in particular, looking at that NRL, he's 17 points in front of Barnes' boy Dave. Now the only thing I can think is that he may have played extra jokers or all of his jokers at this stage. Who knows? That's one of the great things about it this year is with three jokers, you do not know who hasn't played them yet. Unless you've been keeping a very close eye on them all round. Going over to the Super Coach and Ben, a couple of King Browns, three of the top four King Browns in the Supercoach NRL.
SPEAKER_00Unfair again, Frogman Grant on top 24-724. Manscaper Naz 24-6-6-9 in second. Master Key Matz in fourth on 23-8-6-8. Leading them, of course, is Haiway Awil, who had the third best week with 1353 points.
SPEAKER_02He's on 24151 overall. Smitty Wynn had the second best week for the shooters, 135E. And Sachor Sam, he was the best for the week. The skipper feather Angles leading them up. 1364. With eight weeks to go, this is getting right down to the nitty-gritty. Yeah, and it'll depend on who has trades left, who gets injuries, who doesn't. So very exciting. Last couple of months coming up across all those three competitions.
SPEAKER_01MVP and club champion.
SPEAKER_02These will start changing up after this week, of course, but so far after two weeks, we've got a surprise leader in both. Josh will be next. So I don't believe he's ever been this high up as far as the MVP or club champion goes, and he's leading both. Robbo's pocket rocket after that scintillating week and the tipping. He has launched himself right up that ladder. He's yet to have a punt yet, so he he hasn't lost any points there. Not like some who have lost 20 bucks and therefore have lost points. He's in second spot uh in Copy That Condo. He has raised himself up to third, so Crocs 1 and 3 in the MVP club champion overall. Now the best player at the moment for each team is the Crocs. Is Joshaby next? He is the gun player just in front of Copy That Condo. For the shooters at the moment, uh in the MVP, it's Win Danielson. There you go. He's up there in about seventh spot. And uh Smithy Wynn in 11th and Major Mortar in 12th. They're the best so far for the shooters. Go boys, doing well.
SPEAKER_01Cattle dogs, mate, Don Trim. Where's devastating, Dave? They are our two gun players at the moment, according to the MVPs.
SPEAKER_02And that leaves the Wranglers. Uh we've got three in the top ten, which is excellent. Robles Pocket Rocket second. Erwin, Geordie. Now there's a surprise packet, is there? What? Nobody's picked that. Imagine him and Josh would be next in the top five if you had a seam race multi on that. Oh, you'd be collecting plenty. Let's see if he can stay there. Well done, Geordie. And big top Al the rookie. He's in tenth spot overall, and he is the number one rookie.
SPEAKER_00In lane for rookie of the year very early. Yeah, it's too early to even be talking that Manscaper Nanzi, he's up there in fourth spot. General Buckley's has shot all the way up the charges. He's in sixth spot, and uh tank writer Jace is just outside that top dozen or so for the King Browns.
SPEAKER_02Alright, I think that just about wraps everything up for now. Huge week on the way, boys. Thank you for joining me today. My pleasure. It's always great to be here. Yep, uh, let's just get going, shall we?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, mate. Thank you, everyone. Good luck, be the ballers.
SPEAKER_00Go the cattle dogs, and uh keep up the good work, you wrangles.
SPEAKER_02Alright, thank you everybody. I hope this enjoyed it, Beat the Ballers. This is our business podcast each week. We just wrap through the results for all you early birds who can't wait for Tuesdays to get that report out. Don't forget to get your selections in for the open. You will see all of that stuff come through, all the prices, all the field, everything like that coming through in the next 24 hours. So Carnival has told me. Until next time, fellas, wherever you are, whatever you're doing, be the ball.
