Okay, we pointed everything on the mum.
SPEAKER_03Hello, hello, hello, boys from the Beat the Ball Tour. Here we are again, looking at week five of all the results. Another highly competitive week. And what a weekend in sport it was, especially that NRL. As I welcome in, uh Laurie, what did you get up to over the weekend? Uh not a lot really. I just pottering around the garden, but I gotta tell you, that Thursday night game, the Cowboys crushed. 82 points to 12. My goodness, I've never seen anything like it. Everything the roosters touched turned to gold, and everything the Cowboys did turned to shite. And very bloody quickly. They were awful. Well, I don't know if we've got any Cowboys fans out there in beat the ball world, but I tell you what, if we do, they're keeping very quiet this morning. It was a shellacking. Uh but that last try, that final try of that game, that pretty much summed it up for me. Sam Walker chips over the top, second kick, could have gone bloody anywhere, let's be honest. It bounces up perfectly, and there you go, eighty-two on the scoreboard. Once in a lifetime stuff that, fellas.
SPEAKER_05Yes, it certainly is. The last time was nineteen thirty five or thirty six, when the great Dave Brown and the Roosters were dominating. Uh there hasn't been a score like it, so uh And what was that like sitting on the hill that day, Ben? Was it good? From what I remember it was sunny with a little bit of chill in the air and a guy with a giant nose who's about to have it punched in, not far from me.
SPEAKER_04Okay, okay, you two. Uh what about you, Sandy? What did you get up to? I had a wonderful weekend on Saturday. I headed out to uh win Danielson's thirtieth birthday. He also has twins, as you know, not like the twins I see on club night on Sundays, but uh he has a pair of legitimate twins that are his one year old and little Madeline and William, they were uh partying with the best of them, and Daniel he carried the flag very well for everyone.
SPEAKER_02Oh that's very nice, mate. Good for you.
SPEAKER_04Uh the one thing I gotta say about one year olds when you party with them, you know, they they're in bed by six PM, so uh they backdoored very early those two, and uh we had a great night.
SPEAKER_02I saw the photo come through, mate, on the group chat, and uh was that some of the Be the Bull Boys?
SPEAKER_04Uh indeed it was. I took that picture myself actually. You probably noticed the quality of it. And there were be the ball boys everywhere, shooters, crocs, uh uh former King Browns, I think Wranglers, of course, uh Wynn Danielson next to Wynneath, Water Tank Matt, and then we had some rookies here too, Spin Smith Lee, I'm sorry about that. Uh yeah, he was there as well. Uh and I think there were even a couple more, and uh oh Ewyn Jordy, he was there and uh he was talking about his great form for the Wranglers and and how the King Browns must desperately miss him. Not likely.
SPEAKER_03Very good. Uh I hope you uh were feeling very good the next morning.
SPEAKER_04I I I wasn't too bad. I didn't get a lot of sleep, but uh I did get up and managed to have a round of golf with uh big top Al out there at Camden Lakeside and it uh was always good fun and uh we didn't play that great but it was a nice day. You Mario, what about you?
SPEAKER_02Well, mate, how about this? I went out to Joshaby next for his thirty five day shower.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god, he must have stunk like nothing else. Thirty-five days without a bloody shower. My goodness.
SPEAKER_02No, mate, I I think you've misunderstood what I am saying. Well he's going to be a father very soon. Him and his lovely better half are gonna have a bob, and so they've had a a shower, a baby shower.
SPEAKER_05How can you have a shower without a bloody baby there?
SPEAKER_02But don't get complicated on me, mate. I don't know these things, and I can tell you this, I sniffed Josh B and he has well he does need a shower too. Just between me and you and nobody else.
SPEAKER_05Can we just get on with this? My goodness, it's bloody taking ages.
SPEAKER_04Just quickly, uh a quick shout out to Big Win Neil on Saturday. He produced a bottle of uh wild turkey of the furnace quality. I believe it was 150 years old or something like that. Uh we were doing shots of it and it was uh nice and I can still feel the burns, so thank you very much for that, Neil.
SPEAKER_02And don't we have to vote on the Beat the Bull 20 anniversary of this month, mate?
SPEAKER_03Yes we do, Mario. We'll get to that at the end of the war this podcast or towards the end on how it's going to work over the next couple of weeks. But I think Ben's right. We should get into the results now.
SPEAKER_05Ah, thank God for that.
SPEAKER_03Triple B's Big Basketball. Alright, gents, we went to the three states as per usual on the weekend. The big thing was that Double Points switched over to Sydney for the next two months, and then we'll be in Melbourne for the two months after that. Flemington was racing in Melbourne Rose Hill in Sydney and Doomben up there in Queensland. Very tight little track, and that wet weather on Friday night certainly didn't help some of the tipsters here in Sydney. What did you think, Laurie? Well, as you know, I like to have a little bit of a flutter on the ponies, and that that rain, I did all my form on a good track, and I'm filthy about it because that little bit of rain there overnight. We haven't seen rain for ten days. My goodness. And then it was supposed to be clear. Uh rain, soft track. There you go. Shit house, my punt, my punting was terrible. All right, well, uh, thank you for sharing that with us. Well, I feel better, a lot better. Thank you for listening. Okay, so the scores for the week. There were some decent scores, I've gotta say, but Golddigger Gaverby, where has this come from? He was very good last year, don't you know, no doubt about that. But he has soared to the top of the table again. Two weeks running, back to back, getting full that LEM points as well, as an aside. He scored 139.5, and the Crocs, they are fired up this year, and this could be one of the most inspired draft selections we've ever seen.
SPEAKER_04Well, no doubt about they've been fighting over Gaverby for years, and he is Australia's premier tray athlete as we know. Uh he is going rocking the uh Grizzly Adams beard these days, and uh he's quite a menacing seat, and and on the tipping, he is menacing everyone at the moment.
SPEAKER_03That he is 139.5. He had a big victory in the last race of the day. Uh, and because him and Ben Zabair, the skipper for the shooters, who's also done an outstanding job with his team this year. He was second on 104, leading from the front. That's what you want all good skippers to do. And in third place, yet another shooter, Barnes' boy Dave.
SPEAKER_05Now he's got to be about 147, Cambo. Barnes' boy Dave, does he not? My goodness, I'm surprised he can see the front end from the rear round of horse these days, but he's still tipping as he's always been. He loves the ponies, loves the horses. Uh, spends a little bit too long in the mounting yard at times, but uh nice score from him to grab third. What good on you, Cambo. One for the old boys.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was. So he got 84 points. He finished third in bronze for the week. Uh, Nadsey, he wasn't far off again. Skilled continuing that great form from Be the Ball 18. And Lion Tay Malocke finishes out the top five for the week. 78.1. He needed some points. He was down low on that ladder, and we are now in that elimination month.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, mate, we're gonna cut four people at the end of the month, and there's only four weeks to go, so we're halfway through the nine weeks. We had the four weeks, and then this week five, and then we've got four more. Very fair. I like it a lot.
SPEAKER_03Well, I'm sure Carnival will be happy to hear that, Mario. Thank you. Monthly medal. Well, there's not much to do with when you've got the same score for both. First week of the new month, August, so the scores are the same. Gold digger Gaverby on top. Here it gets a little interesting. Week five of the Triple B's, and we have had a change at the top of the ladder. Who can forget that week one score where Josh will be next plucked plucked uh, you know, the sixth highest score of all time out of his crack clacker, and uh he he was up there having his 35 week shower uh and he was he's now fallen back to second. Gold digger Gaverby has just come down the outside and said, Thanks Josh for holding that lead. I'm going to the front now. And he's put a good space on him too, 36 points, but a couple of Crocs up top. And I can tell you from experience and being in that war room and listening to Mick and McKenna pump those boys up year after year, week after week, uh, he would be absolutely ecstatic.
SPEAKER_05And no doubt he would. They were dead set terrible last year in the tipping this Crocs team. And uh, I notice it's good to see Joshaby there. He's been in the Crocs his whole term in beat the ball. Uh gold digger Gaverby, well, he's back there and he is on fire, but they do have a bit of a gap back.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, let's round out the top eight for the triple B. So uh Gaverby on top, Joshaby in second, uh in third. They're the only two players, mind you, above 400 points at this point. Uh Wynne Danielson, so uh he's can continued in on that good form. Uh weekend was a little bit down on what he's been doing, uh, but he's in third, 394.3. Rounding out that eight, uh, we have a Wrangler, Robbo's pocket rocket in four, and then we have King uh Cattledog Country, let me tell you. Dukes Row and devastating Dave, uh, fifth and sixth. In seventh, Nadzi, he's back where he was. He made the top eight last year, finished fifth overall from memory. Uh, he's there. And on trem Wes having a super start to the season, but as we know with uh Chuck Norris, it's whether he can continue to keep up that energy right through the season. But right now, he is sitting in that top eight. Now get this. Cop this, everyone. Mario, you must be absolutely over the moon.
SPEAKER_02I can't believe it, mate. I have never seen so much blue except for their last Ottagen match I went to in Sydney, uh, and it was great. We're Einstein Graham in ninth. Londra Lebar Skipper 10th. Horcassius Paul, my goodness, he hasn't been this high in his life, not since he was a teenager, and they're at the back of his mum's shed. He is there in ninth position, and no, not ninth. Hang on. I've lost count, everybody. I'm so excited. I said that's nine, ten, eleven. So out of the top eleven, the cattle dogs have six.
SPEAKER_03Well, that uh we're talking about the skippers. We gave uh Mikabee and Benza a huge rap early. What about Lonroe Lever, that sly old dog? My goodness. He has now got these boys tipping as a unit, uh, the cattle dogs. He's got plenty of experience, plenty of guys who know their way around a horse. Uh, and some of them let the horse know their way around them, but we're not going to go down that track just at this moment. Uh he's got a big gap though, down to a a bit of a worry. Crazy 80s, dude. He did start slow last year, fell out of the barriers. Uh, but he's a whippy type of runner. He's there with uh Giriya stuff, they're down in the bottom, and Ericaby Arrives is their only real drama. Uh Warwick uh Warwick Farm Fellow's not going as nicely as he'd like to be at this point of the year. But Ericaby Arrives is in that bottom four. Yeah, that bottom four there, I'll tell you what, there's some King Brown's crowded down there, isn't there? There certainly is. Ericaby Arrives is fourth last 192.4, Nickabee Rising, uh not having a great start to the season. He's third last 185, and the bottom two at the moment are the skipper of the King Browns. So while some of the other skippers are on fire, it's taken him a little while to get warm this year, the old King Brown's captain, and uh he's second last, and Frogman Grant, who's traditionally pretty good at all the comps. He is dead set blundered the start, and those two are running last and second last, and just above that bottom four is Metro Matt. So there's three King Browns in the bottom five.
SPEAKER_05It's always the same old bloody problem with these boys. It's uh we have some absolute guns and absolute pop guns. My goodness.
SPEAKER_03Well, it's looking very interesting indeed. But at the moment, the Crocs are ruling the roost. Goldiger Gavy out on top, and he has poker machine reels this week.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, what about the teens just before we finish up? Cattle dogs on top, 882 in this competition. Wrangler second, 726.
SPEAKER_04Hey, the Wranglers they're uh thereabouts, they've got Robo in the top here, but then most of them are mid-table. The only one at the moment that has been dragging the channel a little bit is Lane T Malockey and he's not going too bad now after his good week. So second spot, we'll teak that at this point in the team.
SPEAKER_03Shooters will be in third, 7-1-1. Got to be happy with that, Laurie. Oh, damn side better than running last. Like we spent most of the time last year running last in everything. Crocs, 681, and King Browns 528. So at the moment, when looking at just the triple B points, they're 300 off the pace already, 360 points off the pace to King Browns in just the triple B's. Uh, that is does not all go well for their chances on winning their first premiership this year.
SPEAKER_01Dali.
SPEAKER_03Okay, for the first time in season BTB 19, we actually have someone who has cleared himself out from the field. The first four weeks, we had three different winners, three different second place getters, three different third place getters, all picking up three, two, or one points, as we all know. Gold digger Gaverby, but with his win this week, makes it two on the trot, and who's to say he's not going to get a third? And that's the third croc winner out of the first five weeks for the Daliam top points that weekend. So Gaverby's cleared out. He's at the top of the ladder on six points, and they are like gold at this point of the year with such big fields. Josh will be next, tank rider Jace, Wynne Danielson, they're all in second on three points. Robo's Pocket Rocket Benzaber, Water Tank Matt, Dukes Road, Daniel, Erwin Geordie. So there's a handful of players there, they're all on two points, uh, and they form the podium. The gold, silver, and bronze at the moment. Another stack of guys on one. Uh, and we still have, I think, uh, you know, around 30 odd players who haven't scored a point for their teams yet. And with first eliminations rising, we know if you get turfed out of the Triple B's, uh, your DALEM season stops right where it is as well.
SPEAKER_01Punter of the year.
SPEAKER_03Party. Every time I hear that word punter, I think of Ricky Ponting. Uh, well, with that, uh, did you hear about that Englishman the other day who the wicket keeper was taking catches after catches? Because every time the ball went past the bat he'd click his fingers. He's been doing it for about a decade. Unbelievable. Yeah, it'd be good to have a talent like that in the slips. I could never really click my fingers, and no one else would let me use airs.
SPEAKER_05So it's not a bad. I thought it was quite clever, actually. It's against the spirit of the game. I tell you what, it's unAustralian. Oh, he is a pom. Okay, well uh did he get a year? How many how many years did uh Warner and Smith and those boys get when they're all blubbering on TV for sandpaper gate? Yeah, that was a bit different. They actually, you know, they carried a roll of sandpaper, did it on international television, and it was bright yellow, you know. Can't put brains in statues, I suppose, but my goodness. Ah, well he should still get something like that.
SPEAKER_02I think he should do, mate. That is very unfair, and I don't like this the sounds of this guy. Clicky punting, they called him.
SPEAKER_03Did anyone any of you guys ever have like traits or or something special you could do that was a little bit different? Like, I mean, that's extremely different on a cricket field.
SPEAKER_04I I had a friend who used to be able to fart the first chorus of the national anthem, actually. Uh when when we were a bit younger, which was always quite amusing.
SPEAKER_03Oh really? Uh only the first chorus, yeah, not not the second chorus. No, nobody knows the second chorus, especially to the Australian anthem. Hey Did, would you allow me to start for No, no, no, thank you very much. Just sit back down, Ben. Uh not the second chorus.
SPEAKER_04Uh well he tried to once but crapped himself, so uh but it was always great fun listening to that.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that was one of the sporting uh highlight stories of last week, of course. Uh there's another one we'll get to a bit later. I'm sure some of you boys are gonna pepper me like pepper spray with it, but uh let's have a look at the punter of the year and see how that went last weekend. And we had two punters, and it warms the cockles of my heart to tell you they were both Crocs who were victorious last weekend. Let's start with the man of the hour, Gold Digger Gaverby. He had a couple of bets on the weekend. The first one was five bucks each way on a thing called Steel Something in Sydney. I believe it was called Steel Strike, paid $772.40. And that was a nice little collect there. There's $51 for $10. We'll take that every day of the week. So nice work. It gets Gaverby back in the saddle next week. He did have a second bet too last weekend. It was a four-legg AFL multi. Uh, and it was going all right, but I think it was Carlton flogged the Brisbane Lions, and that one screwed that one up. So well done, go, you go thing, you crocs. And Big Win Neil was the second one. I'm just I can't find my notes at the Mario at the moment, Mario. Sorry, my M's are running into each other. Well that would make it an mmm, wouldn't it? I guess it would. Mario, would you be able to read out that bet that Neil won on, please?
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay, mate. No problems at all. Coming in there, so that bet was his bet one for Big Win Neil. He was on the NRL and he was on the Malty, and he had the roosters to win, tink. Uh he had the no whacking at Indoaz, eh? To score an anytime try. Tick. And then he had jumps to desco also to score a try. And it got up and we collected 43.30 on that one 43 dollars rounded down, we ran down or round up, and but we'll round them up one way or another.
SPEAKER_03Alright, that'll do. Thank you very much for that, Mario. Yeah, so that bet was all over in about 35 seconds on Thursday night as the Roosters ran riot. We covered that earlier. His second bet, and he nearly went two from two, the big fella. Sunday afternoon, he has gone the Sharks v Rabbitos, another same game multi. And he needed Sioni Katoa to score a try. He got the other two up. You got Alex Johnston, who caught one around the mush uh scoring a try. It's what Alex Johnston does, really, doesn't he? He doesn't like tackling a lot, but to tell you what, he can score a try. Uh so he scored. Uh, he also had another try score for some of the sharks. I can't remember at the moment. It might have been Ronaldo Mulatalo. He's back from the World Cup, Ronaldo. And uh he had Sioni Katoa to score, and get this. He's dived in to score, up in the air, in the corner, puts the ball down and plonks it straight on someone's foot from the rabbit hose. And that was it. We were literally one stud mark from having another bet get up for the boys in the beat the ball tour. I've left a few of those in my team, don't you, Wadi? Right. Bad bets. Stud marks. Oh.
SPEAKER_02I wish you wouldn't talk like that, mate. You're making me uncomfortable. It's getting hot in here.
SPEAKER_03Right, so Crocs, two wins, two bets. On fire. Both boys are up next week with 40, a couple of lobsters, one in each pocket for both of those men. Uh so they're they're off to an outstanding start this season, the Crocs. They have got the bit between their teeth. Mikaby is absolutely driving them hard. He uh it's been a while since he's tasted victory, and he's like Dracula. He needs blood at times, as the skipper from the Crocs, and uh he's looking for it this year, and they are off to a flyer. They'll both be back next week, as I said. Let's have a look at what happened with the shooters. Oh, Clarky Miyagi, he had his first bet ever, and uh we were expecting some big things from this one, and he's had 20 bucks a win on uh Sydney race three number two, Columbus, who and that horse just got lost. I know I don't know how I found out bloody anything. It was no Christopher, that's for damn sure. Uh so bad luck, Clarkey. Go back to the end of the line, friend, and uh you get another crack soon. But all eyes, all weekend, were on Smitty win because this guy has been on fire. Nobody in the history of the beat of the ball has started like he has. Four wins, four weeks. He was into week five with a big hungy up the sleeve, and uh he took it all up. He's bet number one, $45 a win all up. But feasible. Uh that was a schoon, race seven, number three. That got done. Busted, nutted on the line pretty much. Uh so that went down in a blaze of glory. Jorito, he had as his second league, and then he's uh backed up with his second bet on the the Saturday uh in Sydney, Rose Hill. And he too jumped on the back of Columbus. Poor old Columbus. He was carrying some weight on Saturday. My goodness. Uh I'm surprised. You'll be surprised if he runs again in the next three months. Uh so that was no good, and he had Dorito as second leg. So Smitty Winnie is gone, he is out of there, it's all over. And uh I know he was a bit of a mess on Saturday afternoon when it came in the two losses. Is that not uh right?
SPEAKER_04It was I was out there on the ground, man on the ground, as you know, and he was devastated, gutted like a pig. Gutted himself, he did. It was a pig on a spit and it was lovely. Uh but uh Smitty when he stuck that pole where he shouldn't have stuck that pole, not as pretty, and nobody was getting to try it.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so moving over from there, we've got two new punters up next week in the shooters. Uh Ben Zebear, he's back on ten bucks. Uh, he's on the limit. Major Mortar, who uh, as we all know, is turned into a skeleton with cobwebs in the corner waiting for a punt this year. He finally gets in the saddle, and it's a nice and warm one, rip roaring hot uh after Smitty win, and he's got twenty bucks to play with next week. So good luck, Mortar. You've been waiting a while. How about those cattle dogs? Back to winning yet, have they, Mario?
SPEAKER_02No, mate, my goodness, we are not even looking like it. Uh, we had Gidea stuff. He waited very late because he liked the Tigers versus the Eels. He must have been the only one. Uh he had $10 for Apisau, uh, Codasau, whatever the hooker's name is for their Tigers.
SPEAKER_04Happy Codasu.
SPEAKER_02I believe that's his name. Thank you very much for that. And he also had the Tigers to win and Dewey to score more than six points. And guess what? He was going to, with about eight minutes to go, mate. The Tigers are up front. 13-12. Dewey scored a try. He's kicked a field goal. He's kicked another goal. So he had his six points. He just needed the Tigers to win, but the Tigers did what the Tigers do, mate. And they found a way to snatch defeat from the Jaws of Victory. They are very good at that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they are a little bit too much. So that was uh, you know, that was really bad luck for Girias. So he got very close to getting the catalogs there first collector of the year. Warwick Farmfella decided not to put a bet in. Uh so the good news is uh that the money goes into the pool for the punter of the year, so we we keep that. But uh the points have to come off. You can't just sit there all year and not decide to have a bet, stay on zero. Uh so he loses twenty points, minus twenty, Warwick Farmfeller. So uh I'm sure Lono Levett will be having a quiet chat in the big wax here and saying uh, you know, maybe you can you know extricate that digit and have a crack. All right, as we head down now to the King Browns, and what was happening over there, Ben?
SPEAKER_05We were waiting for last year's champion man, Frogman Grant, to come back into the fold and have a punt because uh as we know he absolutely streeted the field last year. Uh for some reason he was down at pick three or four in his stable, but he came in and his first bet he had uh the Saints to win, the Hawks to win, this is AFL 40 plus, the Titans to win before 4.5, and the Raiders won to 12. Needless to say, 57-58 it was paying. If Nick's gets up, we're all cheering. Uh needless to say it did no good. The Titans didn't get close, and the Raiders they just became fodder for those Panthers who are back on track. Frogman Grant's second bet to another $10 NRL multi-sharks, 13 plus Ting. Total points under 53.5. Ting. Nicera, anytime trace scorer.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, baby, we're going now.
SPEAKER_05We're on fire. He's got all three. Yes, he did, but uh unfortunately he also had Katoa and his stud mark problem. And uh, no good. He went out by there, and he also took the Tigers to win by a 4.5 plus. But the thing I like about Big Grant, the frogman, he's uh he has a dead set crack. 6323 that would have paid uh Times ten if it had got up, but uh no luck for him this time. But believe you me, he will win at some stage this year. Grunt and Groham was the second one for you boys over there at the King Browns and back in the fold. Yes, he is, and I tell you what, he's pulling his weight, among other things, the big man over there. He's had a $40 NRL multi because as we know he went very well in his first week. And uh Mario, I might get you to help me with this one if you can too. Have you got that in front?
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, I'll have it again, mate. The roosters to win. I'm not waking it into us, eh? Anytime Tri Scorer, tick tick, dolphins win. Yes, we're on fire now. Panthers to win. Yes, and he sacko anytime uh try scorer.
SPEAKER_04What was that you said?
SPEAKER_02I Sakko, mate.
SPEAKER_04Oh, do you? Yeah That's a bit personal to be revealing through the podcast.
SPEAKER_02What mate did I Sakko?
SPEAKER_04Uh yeah, okay, let's leave it there.
SPEAKER_02Well it's no good, mate. Five ninety two and so he's at Gonsky, but he got very close. Bees penis in it. And so well done, Grant and Groan over there. All right.
SPEAKER_03Well yeah, well done. You get close. A lot of boys get close, let's be honest. Spinsmith Liam, another rookie, was up for his first punt of the year for the Wranglers, and my goodness, do these boy boys need some help on the punt, Sandy?
SPEAKER_04Hey, we do, and Spin Smith Liam, he's a bit of a horse whisperer, apparently. Does that mean he whispers to horses or like he's got a throat problem? I'm not sure. I I did see him on Saturday and his throat seemed fain and intact to me, so uh maybe he likes to chat up horses uh on the wee side of the you know. I don't know. I I really don't know. I have to ask him.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, okay, if you want to mind, I'd like to clarify that, you know, the horse and and the other horse.
SPEAKER_04I I'll get right on to it. Thank you, Lori. He had Re6 number three, Sydney, enviable. Like it was paying two dollars fifty. But you'd expect this thing to do something. No. Sweet FE The Wranglers have stopped another certainty and uh it's it really hurts.
SPEAKER_03Well that's what happened with Smitty uh Smittywin, wasn't it? He put his punt in and uh the Wranglers in Skipper Sideshow Sam in a great show of intelligence now and dead set pass. He decided he would back the same bet that Smittywin did. I nearly said Spin Smith. Uh uh I'm getting all my Smiths worried in in the wrong order. Um I'm smitting myself. Uh but uh he put the punt on and stopped the deadness tracks, and maybe that's the way to go sometimes. So uh nice little effort there from Sideshow Sam, but uh it's not gonna help his team because Spinsmith Liam uh he has to go back to the back of the line. Nice attempt first up. Craig's Carnival was back in the saddle, and uh I know he was blowing up deluxe because he did all his form on a good track, thought that the track would be good for sure, but they got that rain on Friday night, which no one was expecting. He had uh race two number 20, Numata, I think, trained by Craig Martin out of Walker. They used to go to school together many years ago, these boys. Uh $61,1125. Uh I'll tell you what, I watched this race and it was getting up along the inside, had a dream run, and when it went to take it split about 250, 300 out from home, uh he he's got halfway through the gap and the two horses have dead set, closed him out. He had a butt cheek on each side from these two in front, and uh that squeezed him out. So no good there. And uh Sydney, race 10 number 11, he loved this thing on a dry track couples retreat. It didn't strike that, it got the soft track, uh, it flew down the outside, finished third, but that's no good when you're back at him for a win. So uh it's all over for you there, Sandy.
SPEAKER_04There it is, but we we've got a couple of new ones up in the saddle. Well, not new ones, we've got two new boys uh hopefully for winning. Uh Sachel Sam, Water Tank Matt, they will be up next week for the Wranglers. How about you, Ben? Who have you guys got taken the saddle?
SPEAKER_05We've got a couple of boys in there with 20 bucks to play with. Uh let's make the most of it, fellas. Hey, Metro Matt, who's uh showing some good form in some other competitions, it must be said. We'll cover them later, I'm sure. Corporal Crayfoot, uh another rookie. He gets to put his foot right on the tail. So uh good luck to you, Corporal Crayfoot. Already covered the Crocs.
SPEAKER_03I think we neil called digava we there up. Uh and we're back to the start for you boys over there at the catalogs.
SPEAKER_02Yes, mate. Skip a little on the Lamba. Love you, Lamba. And Craig's here. So we need to get something going. Craig's here. Any chance maybe taking something at a dollar twenty, I place? You know, just to help us out a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we all know that he he loves to bet a certain way and strengthen. Jonas sits there with his fingers over the buttons, ready to let go on that check route too. And uh, of course the shooters have Ben Zeber and Major Mortar up. Alright, that wraps up Punter of the Week. Uh and Punter of the Year, Punter of the Week, whichever way you want to split it. And uh let's go over now and have a look at the next thing. Stable Wars. Just before we get into Stable Wars, we really should have a look at the state of things overall for the Punter of the Year. So the best stable at the moment, best team, sorry, not stable, uh, is the shooters. They're on 9-1-1 out in front, courtesy Smithy win up top. They also have Come Later, Ronstey, Major Mortar win Daniel Sun and here early Harry. Uh they are yet to bet, they're on zero. So they're they've actually got, it's a little bit deceptive, the old punter of the year ladder to start with, very volatile, but they've not, none of them have had a bet yet. So uh uh the zero points is giving them more THC points than it should be, but you never know, they maybe maybe less if they come in and punt and win when they finally get their shot. Uh King Browns are in second 807, they're going very well on the punt, not too bad. Crocs, they're right up there. They've got punters everywhere. They have a different strategy, of course, where they just like to collect. It doesn't have to be a lot each week as long as they keep collecting and keep themselves up the top of that leaderboard. They've got a handful to in the bottom half, but uh they've also got a handful in the top half. Uh Cattle Dogs and uh the Wranglers, both of them uh are not going well at all as far as punter of the year is concerned. Our running turtle for the week uh beat a ball out there. What is it, Sandy?
SPEAKER_04At minus 163 now after the Hungy went down to Drain on Saturday. So uh we're going all right still. That's not too bad in the weak favor. If we can get a few more winners in there, we'll all be ecstatic about that one.
SPEAKER_03Alright, uh having a quick look at the strike rates and everything like that. Without doubt, the Crocs are the best uh with the shooters. The shooters have five from ten collects this year, uh, the crocs four from ten, fifty percent and forty percent, very good. Uh and uh the biggest collects were nothing was touched. Smitty Wynn still leads that with a 190 collect as his major. So uh that's about it for that stable wars, fellas. Let's have a look at this. Uh, and you would think it's just been dominated by shooters and crocs, wouldn't you?
SPEAKER_02Yes it is, but mate, black heavy, uh, they are up on top for the shooters. Yeah, pew, pew. Yeah, you good things out by a mile too.
SPEAKER_03236 points is a stable. So Penza Bear Barnes' boy Dave. Oh, that's wrong stable, sorry. Smitty win, major mortar, win Daniel Sun, come later on, Steve. And here Harry. Uh they're on uh 236. Uh way out in front. Woods Waterhouse for uh King Browns in second on 49, Spice Girls on nine. So they're all the ones in the black. Uh there's two stables who have yet to register a collect, and that is the Ells Friedman stable, which has got Londro, LeBad Dukesro, Daniel Ederby arrives. Devastating Dave Geary stuff. Cannot find a winner between them. And McElroy Waller, oh my goodness, the Wranglers, they are just a shadow of their former punting selves. Sideshow Sam, Highwire, Will, Lion Tamer, Lockheed, Edwin, Geordie, and Spin Smith Liam. They are favourites to be wearing those vests again this year at this point in time.
SPEAKER_01Damn, man, what the hell are you doing? This guy will knock you on your ass. BTB 19. MVP and Club Champion.
SPEAKER_03Alright, Jen's turning our attention quickly to the MVP and club champion race after week five. So the MVP overall at the moment, the top five sort of twelve. Uh Josh will be next is still leads on 420 from Wynne Daniels, son in second on 404. Goldiga Gavaby back to 345. Uh so there's already close to a hundred-point gap there. Robbo's pocket, Rocket Craig's Carnival, they round out the top five. At the moment, the the bottom five are Warwick Farmfeller, Nick will be rising, Frogman Grand Saving Private Naruka B arrives. Club champion race, not that different with just the one tattoo trophy event in there thus far. Uh, no real other changes. So you'll see that when you get to the MVP and club champion list.
SPEAKER_01THC Premiership.
SPEAKER_03This is the big teams event, of course, and runs through the course of the season, and it is on like Donkey Kong. We've already spoken about how competitive it is this year. On top the Crocs. After week five, they are now on 160 points. I sorry, 60 points only in front of the shooters. How about that? The big two, 2-1-6-7-2-1-07. The two teams from the very beginning of Beatleball, they are running 1-2. The Wranglers are back in third, 1-2-1-9-2-9. Sorry, I'll spit that out. Cattle Dogs fourth, 1-8-1-5. King Browns back to fifth, one eight, zero, nine. Just six points between those two teams. And they need to be careful because the King Browns now are over 300 points, 350 odd points behind the crock. And we've got a lot of competition to go. And uh, you know, there's a huge contingent out there, Ben, who wish that the King Browns would win a title. Don't you agree?
SPEAKER_05Absolutely, I do. It's uh it's long overdue. They've got some real talent there, and it's about time we started to really produce. Uh, it's good to see some of the boys going well in the other comps, but uh they've got to do it as one. They can't keep running as individuals. What's the old saying? Uh a team of champions will never beat a champion team, and that's what we've got to get there.
SPEAKER_03All right, uh having a look now at the competitions that are still running. We're getting down to the final stages of the NRL tipping, the NRL Super Coach and the AFL tipping. Uh, and after week twenty two, so we've only got five rounds to go in the NRL tipping, and we have a major move. Yeah, look at Metro Matt flying up there. It looks like all the boys have discovered they've got jokers and what they're and how do you actually use the jokers?
SPEAKER_02Well, I know the carnival was saying there's a few people last week contacting him asking how they can use their joker, how to use them.
SPEAKER_03Well that's gotta be a bit of a worry. I mean the jokers have been in play now for three, four seasons.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's it, it mate. So maybe the scoreboards have been a little bit skew if because some boys just haven't used their joker and don't know how to use them.
SPEAKER_04Well there's three of them, you've got to have a crack with them. Hey, they're double points every round of Metro Matt. Hasn't he made the NL tipping interesting now?
SPEAKER_03That he has, because Stranton Johnna, as you might remember, was a mile out in front. Now the question remains, how many of his jokers has he used? Has he got one up his sleeve? Has he used all three to take that lead? But that lead has gone from about a dozen points only a couple of weeks ago back to one. Metro Matt with that 18 is shot up the 1-3-1, and I'll tell you what, he is going to be a huge threat. They now have a gap back to third, who is Barnes' boy Dave, having a great season, old Cambo. Uh he's seven, one twenty-three. He's always done well in the NRL tipping and the horse tipping. Um so he's eight points off the lead. Does Cambo have any jokers left? That's the question. I mean, this is why it's so interesting, these competitions, right down to the wire, with three jokers. Uh these tables are going to change again. Rhinestone Graham, have a look at him. Barnes' boy Dave's uh he's his brother, full brother to Rhinestone Graham. He's had 14 using a joker. He's up to 119 in fifth. Squeezing between the two brothers is Wynne Danielson, who uh didn't play a Joker last week and he's on 121. Uh and just off the pace, Carnival, six on 118. Uh, he got six right last week. Dukesray Daniel six for one eighteen, but Daniel must be a little bit disappointed because that's a joker. So that means he only produced three out of eight winners, uh, but at least he got six points. Tipping's going to go right down to the wire. Uh, down the bottom is interesting. All the latecomers, the rookies that were drafted and have ended these contests, they're starting to go past some of the players who have been there all year. Uh, so that's very interesting in the cell. Saving private's just been overtaken by Lion Tamer Lockheed, who started off a huge disadvantage. Big top L, not far behind. Those boys using their jokers straight up. AFL tipping, similar thing. Strength and John are up top, and he's been up top for a long time in these contests, uh, and he's on 157, along with tank rider Jace, who's doing exceptionally well over there in the AFL. And next of Win Nath, he hasn't been up the top of many ladders for quite a while, but the three of them are locked at 157 on top. Who has jokers? That's the question. Uh next of Win Nath, we've covered Rhinestone Graham. He used a joker in the AFL as well. He's shot up to equal second now on 153, four points off the lead. Uh, he's with Roger that Deaver and Ben Zaber. Uh, Benza had a great round last weekend, eight of the nine winners, and uh he Rhinestone Graham used his joker 12 points. Duke Stra Daniel used his joker in AFL as well, 12 points. He is in third outright by himself on 151. Uh, supercoach, we're getting down to it. Uh, not a lot would change from here. You'd think it all comes down to who has trades. That's right, mate.
SPEAKER_02It's the only way to play this game. You need to have lots of trades, and I think most players have used almost all their trades, but uh Ben, have a look at that, mate.
SPEAKER_05We're absolutely kicking ass in this, aren't we? The Supercoach. Manscaped and Nad's up on 1725 last week. He leads on 29,000. Second place Frogman Grant. At least to have had a ding-dong battle all year, and it's been uh quite magnificent to watch from the sidelines. Uh Muster Key Matt fell off the pace a little bit last week. He had a massive score of 1605, but in the great scheme of things, it was a little bit mediocre for the week. Howire Will's gone past him.
SPEAKER_04We've got Wranglers everywhere there. Look at Heware Willing third, Carnival fifth, Water Tank Matt sixth, Robles Pocket Rocket seventh, uh, and Sachor Sam ninth. Uh and then we have the X Wranglers, if I may bring that up.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you can bring it up all you like now. They're getting points for shooters now, Buffed. So uh there's Smitty Win right in the middle of them. Next to Win Nate. They might have been Wranglers once, mate. No more. Warrior Farm Fellas there too. He was a Wrangler last year, he's right up there. My goodness. Isn't it great that Benny tore you boys apart?
SPEAKER_04Hey, it's a long rear, so wouldn't be getting too uh confident at this stage if I was you, Lottie.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so there it is. There are the contests that are currently in play. The next Tattoo Trophy event is not for a little while, but right now we need to have a talk about BTB 20th anniversary tour.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I can't wait for this one, mate. Twenty years! My goodness, who would have thought they'd have gone this long, the boys?
SPEAKER_03That's alright, Mario, and it's come to time. August is the month, and I can barely spit the words out that I'm that excited that we will determine where we will be touring in Beatleball 20. We all know we're going to lovely Cairns this year, but for the 20th anniversary, there's got to be some celebrations and it's got to be a tour spot that everyone likes. And this is how it's gonna work. Beat the ball is out there listening. So what will happen over the next week is that you all, all, all 48 of you, will be able to nominate where you think we should go for Beater Ball 20 anniversary.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's very democratic, isn't it? It's always been uh that way I must say. So democracy rules doesn't matter how many tours you had, is that correct?
SPEAKER_03That's right. So it doesn't matter if this is your first tour or this is your 19th tour coming up this year. Uh the bottom line is anybody within the walls of the beatle ball this year can nominate a destination. Now, what will happen? How to do that?
SPEAKER_02Well, you've got to send them through the Cakes Carnival, do you not?
SPEAKER_05That's right. You've got to text it through the carnival where you think we should be touring.
SPEAKER_03Now you don't have to. If you don't care where they we tour or where the beatle ball tours next year, it doesn't really matter. So uh in Beatleball 20, don't put a vote in. But what we will be doing is that this time next week in the podcast, we will be announcing the final three destinations that will be voted upon. And you will all need to put a vote in on one of those three destinations. So this week we're gonna take destinations from everywhere. Remember, nowhere overseas. It can't be overseas because we're not getting into that. That was covered in last week's podcast. It has to be in Australia. So you pick your place. Now try and remember the things that we're looking for here in this. We've it's got to suit all the styles of characters we've got, and everybody within these tours they get something out of it that they particularly like. For some, it's the tipping, uh, for others it's the golf. For others, it's just the tour itself, and they don't really care about the comps. And there's no right or wrong in each to their own. Uh, but this is what you need to know. It's got to be somewhere that has adequate golf facilities, it's got to be somewhere that can house 48 people uh because that's what we want. We need at least 12 rooms for that. It's got to be somewhere where they have an entertainment precinct. So we've got a lot of downtime around the two days of golf. Uh, so you want to be able to do stuff, you know. The Tasmania is a great example. Uh, there are many on the tour who would love nothing better to go to Tasmania for a tour because they have some of the highest caliber golf courses in the world. Problem is there's not a lot to do around that. Uh, so it's got to be somewhere where you can have some fun, uh, and preferably somewhere that uh you know everyone can get to relatively easily. So they're the main three, and then the fourth one on top. If you take them into consideration now, when you have decided where you would like to tour for the 20th anniversary, so it's not for cans, we're going to cans in Beatleball 19, but Beatleball 20, where you would like to go, text through your destination nomination to Carnival. And he will collate them all, and he will then next week, at this time, announce the three that they'll be voting on.
SPEAKER_05But when they vote, there's the voting's not quite the same as the nomination process, is it?
SPEAKER_03My word it isn't. Everything in this tour, Beatleball, is based on the currency is tours, actual tours made. So for instance, if you're a first year rookie, when it comes time to vote on the final three destinations, you will get one vote because this is your first year. So you'll only get one vote. For someone like the Captain Croc, Mikabee McKenna, he's been on every tour, so he's had 19 years, plus he'll have one. Uh oh, sorry, there's only been 18 tours because of COVID in Bataball 12. We all forget about that. So Nikaby would have 19 votes. Uh so that's the way it works. Everyone earns their rights, uh, their badge numbers, everything in this tour you weren't, by the amount of time you spend in here having a good time, competing, and all that other stuff we get up to. But when it comes to voting, uh it matters. Experience matters. If you've put in the hard yards for the tour, you get more votes. And then, of course, in the third week, uh, we will announce where we will be touring in Beatleball 20 for our 20th anniversary. I can't wait. You know, it's a huge year. Sunshine Coast, that's uh traditionally been a place we go for, you know, these milestone tours. Rhinestone Graham won the Mum's Bum Cup there, uh Beat the Ball 10 up there on the sunny coast. So that's got to be an area. Where would you like to go, Mario?
SPEAKER_02Well, mate, we've never been to WA to Perth, but I hear a few whispers of another little place over there that people are talking about.
SPEAKER_03Well, WA'd be great, but the travel time takes a bit out of it. Uh, you know, it's five hours pretty much in the air. Uh either way, uh, we'd have to look at other things. Or maybe you'd like a different format to the tour. Anyone have any idea?
SPEAKER_04I've always thought adding an extra golf there'd be excellent and having a three-round tour. Uh that would be nice.
SPEAKER_05How about that we just go back to where it all started twenty years ago, up at Nelson Bay, Shelby Bay up there, Central Coast, New South Wales. And I I think that'd be a wonderful way uh way to celebrate the 20th year by going back to where it all began.
SPEAKER_03Well, there have been a lot of boys over the years who uh have often loved to listen to the stories of those early years, and and uh I do know of a fact that there's a few that would like to do something like that. But that will all come down to what destinations are nominated most. So get through it this week, boys. There'll be something out through the chat group tomorrow, Carnival assures me. Uh, and then from there we will know by this time next week where the final three places that we may be touring, we will be going to and you will be voting on.
SPEAKER_00You'll be able to spit nails, kid. Like the guy says, you're gonna heat lightning and you're gonna crap thunder.
SPEAKER_03Okay, gentlemen of the Beatle Ball Tour, and within the walls of this room, that is the weekly result pack podcast done and dusted. The online version will be out tomorrow. Another huge week coming up, boys, but number one is that Beat the Ball 20 Tour Destination nominations. What do you got on this week, fellas?
SPEAKER_04You've got a massive Saturday plan, lots of laces and footy, so that should be fun. Looking forward to that.
SPEAKER_03How about you, Mario?
SPEAKER_02Oh, not a lot this week, mate. I'm trying out for some new jobs, so I will keep you up to date and inform with them next week.
SPEAKER_03Well, good luck with that. Hopefully it goes better than that lollipop gig you had for three hours. Uh what about you, Laurie? Anything in particular? Yeah, yeah, just uh hanging out. I'll be looking forward to the this race to the finals now. I'm looking forward to watching these competitions for the Beatleball, especially those footy tipping ones. It's on like Donkey Kong. We keep saying that, but that's one of my favourite sayings ever.
SPEAKER_05All right, and Ben, do you want to say goodbye to everybody for us? Okay, fellas out there in Beat the Ball land, thank you for listening. Uh chaffa now. I think he was a famous Indian cricketer, wasn't he? Wherever you are, whatever you're doing. Beat the ball.
