Reflecting on Spiritual and Family Wins
DominiqueAll right , hello , this is Dominique .
DjWhat's going on ? Good people , this is DJ .
DominiqueAnd we are back for the Reset Channel , season number two .
DjSeason two . Let's get it , man . Yeah , this is our first one of the year , man , we're kicking off 2025 . It's been a while and we actually it's been on our spirit this last month or two , and we actually it's been on our spirit this last month or two and shout out to Tracy DeShazo . We saw Tracy a couple days ago and it was on our spirit and she just reminded us like , hey guys , well , we ready , it's time when we going to do another episode and it's funny , man , how God works and just seeing people to say stuff to you at the right time and just to kickstart everything , because we all need that kick in the butt sometime . So we're excited about bringing another episode and another season to you guys .
DominiqueYeah , I think personally , we definitely , like DJ said , have been wanting to get back in it and also just resonating with you guys . You never know how your words can be somebody else's gift or blessing to them . So thank you , Tracy , for reminding us to get back at it , and we hope that this episode gives you exactly what you guys are listening for . We're going to focus on not only our wins of 2024 , recapping with you guys but also to have a winning 2025 .
DjExactly , exactly , man , and shout out to our BG Body Games community man , we actually are doing a winning challenge kicking off our new year and , man , we're just all about just celebrating wins , man that spiritual wins , small wins , big wins , mental , physical wins . We want to kick off 2025 with that , but also reflect a little bit . It's also time to sit and reflect on our past wins and what was our biggest wins of 2024 . So , dawn , what would you say were your biggest wins of 2024 , going into 25 ?
Dominiqueyeah , my 2024 . It was definitely a year I think I'll label as growth . I know I've labeled each year that we've talked about , but I think growth in a way of spirituality and self-care . Personally , for me , it was a year that I prioritized self-care a little bit more , healing spiritually . I think my biggest win is just learning more about my faith than I probably ever have , and not only learning about my faith , but prioritizing learning , praying . Every morning I wake up with at least a 20 to 30 minute lecture . That's how I start my day . I'm making sure to get up and pray right before I go to bed . So that has been my biggest spiritual win and it has propelled just this feeling of peace inside of me moving into 2025 .
DominiqueAnd growth , I mean growth in mental and physical wellbeing . We have to always reflect and look back at our creator . God did not put us here to just be . He put here to help , to give out , to grow . So so much of that has come into different categories of my life just finding him more and being in tune with my spiritual self yeah , I think that's awesome , man , that's um , just spiritually , guys , guys , I think that's just where it's at .
DjJust echoing what Dom just said , I think that's I've seen her do it , you know , and she's encouraged me to even do it as well , even more Just being able to wake up is something that we take for granted , because so many people don't get to wake up . So you being able to just open your eyes and give gratitude to God , it's just where it's at , because you know , as my pastor say , if God woke you up this morning and he's not done with you yet , that's where it's at , and it's been an honor to see her grow as well as her spouse and as a partner and as a best friend . I think for me , spiritually , the same , in some sense , of just being more in tune with the sermon . So I've been challenging myself Monday through Friday there's a couple of passes I listen to to just , even if it's only 10 or 15 minutes , to get something out of the sermon . That's daily . I think the best time for me has been just on my way to work and in those little breaks that I have . So that would be my spiritual win as well , family win .
DjThis didn't come to me , guys , until actually New Year's Eve . So December 31st , 2024 , actually our anniversary Dom and I was at the park , we took Caden , we took Amar and Kamari there , and it just , god , just spoke to my spirit . You know , this is the first year since 2016 where my family and I didn't have a death in the family or didn't have to go to a funeral , and that was big for me . You know , 2016 , I had a cousin commit suicide . 2017 , I had a cousin who was , uh , murdered on domestic violence and then , between 2018 already to 2023 , had uh , uncles , a grandma and aunts who , um , died of cancer , and then that one episode , of course , with Marcel dying with a conflict from a drunk driver , um . So 2024 , we celebrated a year of no funerals , no death , death , which was big , and I'm just grateful for that y'all . And yeah , we just want to take this momentum . Hopefully we can say the same thing about 2025 .
DominiqueYeah , I think the experiencing because me and DJ met in 2016 , so sort of experiencing that with him and seeing the family grieve together but also grow together and somewhat you know you learn about people throughout death that grieving is a long process . So , seeing end of 2023 , just his family pray and me too pray for just a year of no tragedy and God listening and reflecting and letting them have that peace this year it's been beautiful to watch and it's definitely a good reflection moment . Obviously , death is inevitable . For us that are left on earth it hurts a little bit more , but we know where their spirit's going , so that gives us some peace . But it's never easy . No journey that he's going to put us through loss in any way is going to be easy , but if you can find the growth and the lessons through it and be able to reflect and love that memory , I think that's a win within itself .
DjSometimes too , absolutely , man , I agree . All right so with that um . So again , like we said earlier , man , our bg challenge , or we are focusing on winning um , it has been great just seeing our people just grow together y'all and just giving um them small , small um tasks and challenges to conquer weekly , daily , daily , and then , most importantly , as a team , because this is our first time actually doing class versus class and team versus team , and it has been fun .
DominiqueIt's been so much fun . I don't know if y'all realize how much the coaches have enjoyed seeing you guys come together and come against each other in a way , obviously it's all empowering . It's all for good and fun , but y in a way , obviously it's all empowering . It's all for good and fun , but y'all are taking it to another level of consistency and commitment , not only to yourselves but to your teammates , um finding that accountability and those friendships .
DjSo I think this challenge has set the tone for 2025 and I absolutely here for all of it yeah , we want all the smoke y'all all the smoke um , because it's helping y'all keep each other accountable without y'all knowing . You know , with these challenges , which is what it's all about ,
Powerful Strategies for Success
Djum . So what are some of the power strategies um that we have in this challenge ? What are we doing that we can take to life ?
Dominiqueyeah , absolutely so . If you are a member , you got these in your challenge packet for everybody who who's not . We listed out four power strategies to conquer your 2025 and really to conquer anything . We'll go into depth a little bit more , but just to overview . Number one was to embrace discomfort daily . Number two is to replace excuses with action . And number three commit to consistency . And lastly , four is to celebrate all wins . So I think if you sort of hear those , obviously it sounds easy . We can dive into sort of a little bit more about that . Dj , do you want to start with embracing discomfort daily ? What does that really mean ?
DjOh man , I was always told guys that being comfortable is going to be the enemy to your success . You know , in order for us to be and become what we want to be , it's built in the shadows and not the spotlight . You know , people don't see those sacrifices and that relentless grind that sometimes only you see and only you feel right . So we have to seek whether that's you going out to another job opportunity or you want to get better physically and mentally in your health ways that you can daily challenge yourself , whether that's reading and learning and growing and learning .
DominiqueYeah , I definitely resonate all of what DJ said . I think we think of our comfort zones as somewhere safe and we know the parameters that we can operate . These are our boundary lines . But when we really start to push up against those , we find that we are able to level up People around us . We look at successful peoples and billionaires X , y and Z that we are able to level up People around us . We look at successful peoples and billionaires X , y and Z that we admire .
DominiqueBut it's taking that step outside of the unknown to truly get to what that success or to what you want . So , yes , there's uncertainty . You're not gonna be sure if you're making the right step , but that's when you stop and not only do you rely on God or your faith to guide you , but also your support system , your spouse , your best friend , your mom , your dad , whoever you have know they got you . So it's not as much of being afraid to take the step , but just making sure you're taking the step with the right tools and just do it . I know that sounds easy , but sometimes it's literally just waking up , being like you know what it's today , because I'm not going to wait anymore . This is what I want for me ? Get uncomfortable and let's grow . What was the quote that you said ? Separate to elevate . Separate to elevate yeah , 100% . That's the quote .
DjI know and that's one thing , guys , and it could be a challenge sometimes you know , dom and I man so often and we love our friends and we love our family , but we've been saying no , you know , these past year or two . You know , just not necessarily saying that we don't want to attend a gathering or attend a party , but we just know we have stuff that we need to get done for us to get to the level we want to get to , because we know , once we get to that level , there's so many other people that's going to benefit from us in a great way and we have to really lock in . And we have our kids . They're coming behind us and we want to make sure that whenever it's said and done that they are on a path to success and have a head start better than we ever had .
DominiqueYeah , and I think that's a perfect segue to number two is replace excuses with action .
DominiqueAnd sometimes those social gatherings or those things that we feel like we are quote unquote obligated to do or to go to , can end up being excuse hindering us from a certain level of growth . And if that sounds harsh , it's meant to be . There's no really easy way to say it . I mean , sometimes we get in our own way and we feel like we have to do this or I need to finish all this laundry before I'm allowed to read this book , and we set these weird parameters and guidelines within ourselves , not realizing that we're replacing what we need to be doing with something that is easier to do . So we have to figure out exactly what that course of action looks like and see what's an excuse , what's fluff and what's actually something that's allowing us to reach that goal . And we have to be clear about that and not give ourselves room to wiggle around more than you know . A little play time . We say 80-20 , 80% consistency , 20% moderation , so sort of figuring that line out .
DjExactly , guys , and that takes us right into number three with being commit to consistency , and that's one of our morals and values over here . Guys , y'all know consistency over perfection . Nothing is going to be perfect . There's never going to be that right time , that perfect time to work out , that perfect time to start that business , that perfect time to get a jump start on those healthy habits that you've been putting on the back burner . Just be consistent . You can't do five days , you do three days . Three days is hard for you as far as working out . You do two days . You can't do a 50-minute workout , do a 20-minute workout , do a 10-minute workout . Just those little , small actions over time add up to a big piece of the puzzle , and that's what it's all about Just taking one step at a time , being consistent .
DominiqueYeah , you can't get to the next floor without having stairs to get up there .
DominiqueSo , it's not about leaps , it's about small steps that you can take along the way . And consistency isn't about every single day . Like DJ said , it's hey , I can give 100 today , I can give 20% tomorrow , I can give 60% the next day , but at least I'm giving everything that I have that day to what I want to achieve . Sometimes I read two pages of my book , sometimes I read 12 . It's just sort of whatever I can to take a small step that day that I am physically and mentally able to do without overexerting myself , and that's enough . And that goes straight into number four , which is a win . Just being enough is a win , guys .
DjFacts , celebrating those small wins . I don't care how small your win is and what Dom just said . Hey , sometimes she'll read only two pages of a book , but guess what ? That's a win because she was able to achieve something . And the same with you guys , and the same with myself as well . Those small wins are everything , guys , like you as well . Um , those small wins are are everything , guys , like you waking up five minutes early , you not hitting the snooze in the morning , like you being able , if you don't hit that snooze in the morning , guess what ? You already up one right score , one to zero in your favor . Um , making it to that workout . Um , hey , especially now , man , 80 , 80 , 85 percent of americans , goddess , are not active at least two times a week . So if you not active at least two times a week , so if you are active at least three days a week , guess what ? You are in the 20 , 15% above average category .
DominiqueYeah , I think anything that we can do to shift our perspective from oh , I'm two minutes late to my workout to hey , I showed up for myself Just those simple reframing of your thoughts can make a dramatic impact of how you're viewing your success , how you're viewing yourself , how much love and treatment you're giving to yourself and your family . Hey , I didn't get to cook a homemade meal , but I made sure my kids had vegetables today .
DominiqueThese are literally the smallest things . If we just think of them in a little bit more positivity and a little bit more uplifting way , we can spread that positivity to radiate inside of us and radiate out to other people . So we have to focus on what that looks like as a win . And if we can't create it , make sure you're up five minutes early , set your clothes out the night before for your workout , whatever you need to do to create a win . So you have that momentum . We can do that . We can find something small to celebrate every single day . That's what God put us here for . It's not always hard . We can find it , we can achieve it , we can seek it .
DjA hundred percent , guys . That is what it's all about . I'm echoing . I love my podcast . If you know me , I listen to several different people , one of my favorites also , my guy , bedros Koulian , and he said on January , the 5th this year that every day , guys , we are writing our eulogies . Right , we don't get to hear it when we die , but every day we're writing our eulogies . How do we want to be remembered ? What's going to be our impact ? What was our influence on other people ? And , um , how much love did we share ?
Dominiqueyeah , if we can just sprinkle a little bit of love and positively to people around us every day , I think that's the biggest win of all 100 guys well , I think that's all we have for this episode . It felt good to get back and just talk to you guys again . It's definitely something we're gonna be trying to post frequently .
DjA hundred percent . And then us , that's us , commit to consistency , right , number three . So call us out guys . Let us know , man , what's going on with y'all . Give us feedback , man , like share tag . Send us to a friend If it resonated to you . Let us know what's going on . Write us a review .
DominiqueYeah , write us a review and let us know anything particularly that you'd like us to speak about discuss . You know we are always up for something new .
DjFacts , or if you want to come on and speak , yeah we could always invite you on too .
DominiqueI'm down .
DjBody games guys .
DominiqueAll right . Thank you for listening to the Reset Channel .
