What's up y'all ? This is DJ .

And we are so excited , as always , to come and chat with you guys . Today . It is officially July of 2025 . So that means , of course , six months are gone . We've got six months of opportunity ahead , so we thought that this was a perfect time to bring to you guys a new episode , some fresh content and some things that have been on our mind lately . And top of that list is going to be the power of five . And why do I say that ? There's a lot that you'll learn , but our five pillars moving into these next six months is purpose , perseverance , strength , community and consistency . Y'all know I love that word , so we are going to dive right into it , not waste any of your time , DJ . Start us off .

Yeah , six months , you guys . What Dom said . We have six months left of opportunity . Checking in , man . How are those New Year's resolutions going that you said in January ? How are we doing with that ? What is something that we haven't finished yet , that we're still in the process of finishing , or that we haven't even started ? We can literally knock this out , y'all , and get it going now .

Absolutely . We have six months of opportunity . Like DJ said , and we all know , god created the world in six days . So what are you going to do to allow him to blow your mind these next six months ? How are you going to prove to yourself what you can accomplish in whatever you set out to achieve ? So that's sort of laying the foundation with the mindset and the drive that we want you to have and that we're adopting these last six months because we are ready to turn things up and take it to another level .

Personally , Right , and he created the world in six days and then rested on the seventh and it was all structure , it was all process , it was all him being consistent and having mercy on us . So what do we need to complete right now ? I know , just being real , guys , it took me three months just to finish this one book and I finally did it yesterday . I had to go . I had to go Like , look man , I'm finishing this book before July the 1st . And I was so glad , man , shout out to my beautiful wife here who was just supporting me along the way too . But I'm already looking , guys , into what book I'm starting now . I already got two . So you know what is something for you , guys ? You may see , I'll let us know .

Yeah , absolutely . And I think , going into setting goals for ourselves we have to be very strategic with . Into setting goals for ourselves , we have to be very strategic with . Yes , let's say , reading a book in two weeks is a great goal . A lot of people can do it . I'm not one of those people . A lot of factors , but we have to set ourselves up for achievable goals .

I know we've all heard of smart goals , but we can go beyond that . We need to think strategically . Why are we setting this goal ? Why does it matter to us , and what realistically can we do daily , weekly , monthly in order to achieve that goal ? So it's really going back to what strategy do you have ? What actually are you trying to do in order to achieve that goal ?

So for me , it was a book a month . I've slacked . I've read two books . I'm on my third for this year , but it's okay . I know I want to finish this , so let me read five pages in this one day . Or if yours is to lose a certain amount of weight or start working out , start with that one day , that consistency . Find what you can achieve instead of jumping into the deep end and then having to retreat because you took on too much . We all know how burnout feels , we know how being overwhelmed is , and that seventh day that DJ mentioned was rest . You have to be able to cycle through your normal routine and trickle in new behaviors to create that new lifestyle that you really want or to achieve those goals that you're looking for .

Facts y'all . So purpose , consistency , strength . You got to have strength in whenever we're pursuing these goals . That's mental , that's physical , that's spiritual . But yeah , there's power power in our routine and not doom scrolling or finding getting distracted by the outside world that we can't control . So we have to again .

Speaker 2

Y'all know my routine . I love to set those reminders in my calendar and my phone . I know , for me , that keeps me on track . I can have a family member or a cousin or someone texts me randomly . Next thing , I know I'm engaging in a conversation . That way I'm distracted and I'm doing a better job . Now , whenever I have that time , I'm literally blocking off that time . I put my phone on silent , I put it away from me . So you know our BG people , you know reach out to us . We , dom and I are probably involved in about 20 group chats . I love y'all though , yeah , so it's easy for us to get distracted or get caught up in a conversation . So I have to , for me personally , definitely put my phone away . That way I don't even engage , I don't even see it , as long as I know my kids straight , the family , good , yeah , I say hey , I got to stay focused on what I need to do .

Yeah , and I think the phone can be so intrusive to our schedules . And I say that because we say scrolling for an hour can be you time . But is that really developmental ? Is that really helping you Like yes , it's you time ? We all like to be sort of zoned out is the word that I'll use and sort of scroll , take in , see what the latest is . But can you do it for 15 minutes instead of scrolling for an hour and really set yourself up ?

We always feel like we don't have enough time or we're busy , we're rushing . I've heard from a lot of mamas and maybe a couple of dads this summer that they were expected to have all this extra time and they were looking forward to the summer . But now they're stressed out more than they were , than they were in school with their kids , and I think it's just sort of the lack of routine or wanting to please our kids the most we can , because we usually don't have them , or just sort of losing focus of what we wanted to achieve this summer and so busy trying to be active with other people or be active with this and that . Where are you on that list ? And that's what I've really tried to empower them to find is , yes , all of our activities . The kids want to be at the pool , this , this and that . I know for us almost every weekend is booked , but my me time going to be scheduled .

And that's my workout , that's me and DJ's date nights that we made sure to get on the calendar . Like these are things that we have to prioritize and I challenge you to do . Don't let yourself slip just because it seems like we have more time and you can get more accomplished . You're still at the top of that list , guys .

Yeah , that's facts . I stamp on everything Dom just said . I almost also am a witness . I know several people love y'all who she's mentioned and referring to . But even if you have to take the kids to practice , we get it . We want our kids to stay active . Guys , you can still find that time . In that time , take your book , take your notes , whatever you use something that you can be working on , because I see that also still as an hour and opportunity . The kids practice in an hour . Okay , hey , I know they're doing their thing . What can I do now ? And that's where we can stay away from the phone or just scrolling like , hey , all right , I'm going to go ahead and set up something . I just scrolling like , hey , I'm going to go ahead and set up something , I'm going to plan this meeting , I'm going to go ahead and read or do something that's going to be productive for me and take advantage of that hour .

That time , yeah , absolutely , or even take a walk . That's an easy one , you can't find the time to work out there at practice . For 30 minutes , 40 minutes , you can be walking around the court , around the field , around the pool . Whatever you got we can make happen . So it's easy to find an excuse . It's hard to make action . So let's make action together . We can do that .

Speaker 2

That's facts . A little tangent , quick tangent . As far as with the walking , I think I'm speaking for majority of everyone . Definitely getting in the steps we've noticed has been a huge challenge because we in that heat wave guys . A couple of things that you can implement now . If finding those steps is a problem , you can literally , guys , walk up and down the stairs , walk around in the pantry , the kitchen of your house . Obviously you can get up a little earlier or go a little bit later . You know five , 10 air squats every hour . Just a couple of quick things for you to find movement . If you're one of our BG people , y'all know y'all got open gym access . Y'all can literally come inside anytime y'all want . Come in 10 minutes before class , get your steps in , walk around the platform , go on a spin bike or stay 10 minutes after . Shout out to Michael from 5am I know he does that every morning and Jenny Williams , but make that time , guys , make that time not , and Jenny Williams , but make that time , guys .

Make that time , not that excuse . Yeah , absolutely . And I think what DJ is sort of feeding into is making that next level of commitment . Make sure that , no matter what , you are pushing yourself to be the best that you can be and I know it sounds cliche , it sounds easy , it sounds doable , it's hard , but it takes discipline . We can't always rely on motivation . Yes , we have consistency , but underneath consistency is a layer of discipline that is a non-negotiable . You have to know what you want for yourself and , no matter what , you have to get it accomplished for you , because no one else is going to come in and do it . I'll tell you that , real nice . You have to be the one to really want it for yourself . I know what goals me and DJ have made for these next six months and we're ready . We and we're ready . We're overviewing them every other day , every day , whatever it takes to keep our focus fresh . You have to do that and it's not easy . Some days will be harder , but that's where consistency is .

Yeah , and that's facts , guys . I think Dom hit on that a hundred . That's something I was slacking on . I'm going to be real with y'all . I was slacking on looking at our goals we did . And then something spoke to my spirit , obviously God just telling me like hey well , remember those goals that you're talking about .

When's the last time you look at them ? And that's something I've been reviewing daily , guys , now for these last couple weeks . It's just okay , these are goals , this is where I'm at , this is what I want . And then hitting on what Dom just said guys , with discipline , discipline is born , it's not , it's not fun doing the same routine , keeping that same routine , but guess what on the On the other side of that board , is that reward that we want and we're striving for . And it's going to be unseen , it's going to be unheard , but as long as you keep making that step forward , it's going to get there . And I got to shout out Beth McSweeney , yes , she is a 6'10 AMer man . She kills it . A couple of years ago , her mom had a sudden accident and died . Rest in peace to her . But that triggered Beth to implement and get disciplined in what she wanted and that's for her to get as healthy as she possibly could . And , man , as of last week , man , she's down 100 pounds .

That's amazing , which is amazing guys , and that's what it's all about . Oh , Winch is amazing guys , and that's what it's all about . She shows up Monday , Wednesday , Friday , Tuesday , Thursday . She's getting her extra activity , even getting in Steps and Heights with her husband , Steve , on the weekends whenever she can , and you got to be relentless in whatever you're pursuing , guys , if that's your goal . So she's been absolutely a rock star man . I had to give her a hug last week , man , and just tell her how much I'm proud of her , and I know our community has been pouring into her as well . But that's what it's about . She didn't feel like doing this , guys . She hit rocks . She hit points where she was unmotivated or she didn't feel like working out , but she still made that time to remember what she wanted .

Yeah , I think the time what she wanted I was just about to say , thinking of beth's story and other people that have had success with whatever your goal is is really being honest with yourself of your why . It takes more than I want a six-pack or I want my arms to look like such and such . That's not a real why , guys . It's nice to get those things , but sometimes we have to funnel deeper inside to say why do I want this for myself ? And that's when those mornings we wake up and we don't feel like working out or we don't want to do this . We have our whys and that's what gets us up out of the bed and keeps us going .

And that's something really important that I challenge you on . It's a great journal topic and sometimes it might not be easy . You might not know , but it might be . I want my arms to look like this because when I was a kid I was made fun of for X , Y and Z . There's so many different layers that you can unpack , but I really would challenge you to take that level of self-discovery and figure out why you want this for yourself and use that as your motivating factor every day to have that discipline and to find that consistency . Thanks .

Thanks no-transcript , just talking about discomfort and discipline and consistency , and our five pillars are honestly developed from our journey of becoming Body games and becoming a community and a movement and impacting lives , and it has not been easy , but God knows it has been worth every single moment , guys .

Facts , guys , y'all have no idea , from when we signed the lease to , shortly after , guys going to the whole world being in a pandemic state , to us opening man at 50 percent capacity , wearing masks , everyone six feet apart . And some days , many days , dom and I looking at each other like yo , what are we doing ? To us going to the banks in the past and they're laughing at us like , are y'all seriously like trying to start a business right now ? And in the middle of all this chaos , to us losing our location , to us being uncomfortable . In those six months , man , when we had brag town church out of the brag town at the park , and it molded us , guys , it molded us and God is still working , he's still doing his thing .

Man and our eyes are on the scene and some stuff we don't hear . But we just know , man , we just put one foot for it and just trying to continue to step . Most importantly , striving not purpose , guys , but just a community movement and literally helping everyone to the best we can that literally walks through those doors , having that good energy , that good vibes , having people around us holding us accountable . Shout out to Tracy , lynette Burwell , to Shazo , who calls us out whenever we're missing our episodes on the podcast , but we need that , we love that and it challenges us to continue to grow . One family , one person , one family , one community at a time .

Yes , absolutely . I know for me and DJ and the stuff I feel comfortable speaking on it for both of us is daily included in our long prayers . Both pray that we have the power , through God , to impact the lives of the people around us , and no matter what capacity . Daily I feel like that is something that he has blessed us with the ability to achieve . Some days more than others , we hear stories and things , but it doesn't have to be you starting a business to impact people's lives , guys .

It could be you just being kind to that one person and you are radiating good energy , good vibes and blessings upon you through them and you have no idea how you being kind to one person is going to trickle off into their lives to be kind to the next , and all those blessings and good deeds that you've done compounded are going to speak for you and you're not even going to know on the day of judgment of all the great that you've spread . So , if anything , that should motivate you to go out there and just be kind and be good and see how you can impact the world , because you really can and we all can . That's why we're here . Just make it a little bit better for the person next to us and to just achieve our passions and our goals .
