chapter four, verses one through six, beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the spirit of God. Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit. Of Antichrist. Where of ye heard that it should come? And even now already is it in the world? Ye are of God little children and have overcome them because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. They are of the world therefore speak. They of the world and the world. Hear heared them. We are of God. He that no God heared us. He that is not of God. Heared us, not hereby know we the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. Now, we have to judge the things we hear. If it lines up with scripture, then it is of God. If it doesn't line up with scripture, then it is not of God. It is the spirit of error, the spirit of the Antichrist. The reason we overcome falsehood is because we are of God and only His voice do we follow. The world hears the voice of false teachers because they are of the world. Because we are of God, we can discern both the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. Alright, let's look at verses seven through 21. Beloved, let us love one another. For love is of God and everyone that love it is born of God and know it God. He that love it, not know it not God. For God is love. In this was manifested. The love of God taught us because that God sent his only begotten son into the world that we might live through Him herein is love. Not that we love God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and His love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love, and he that dwelleth in love, dwelling in God and God in Him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him because he first loved us. If a man say I love God and hated his brother, he is a liar. For he that loved not his brother whom he had seen, how can he love God whom he had not seen? And this commandment have we from him, that he who loved God love his brother also. Now John repeats the same message over and over again. We must love others like God loves us. He that walks in love dwells in God, and God in him. Why? Because God is love. When we love God and one another, we obtain boldness, and we do not fear the day of judgment. Why? Because as He is, so are we in this world. Someone once said, The best demonstration of God comes not from argument, but from a life of truth. of love. God's love was demonstrated in Jesus Christ. God the Father made a sacrifice beyond which no sacrifice can possibly go in his love for us. It is a total undeserved love and when we walk in this kind of love, fear ceases because there is no fear in love. What is there to fear if you are walking as God walks? Then John says we love him because he first loved us. He loved us when we were unworthy of being loved. Because of this he is worthy of all our love, devotion, and service. Then he gives the measuring stick, the proof, the evidence that shows just how much we love God. The measuring stick is just how much do we love God. If a man doesn't love God's people, he does not love God. It is as simple as that.
