Welcome to Rewind and Rewatch. This is your boy, sgr, and we got Danny. Hey, danny, we're here to talk about Arcane League of Legends on Netflix, act 2.
Speaker 2:Act 2, episodes 4 through 6. There you go we appreciate you.
Speaker 1:You know, a lot of times we kind of jump right into it, so we'll do that again. Intriguing insights what's up with Act 2? We kind of jump right into it.
Speaker 2:So we'll do that again. Intriguing insights what's act two? So in act two it's uh, surprisingly a time jump. After the disastrous uh events of the last act, it surprisingly takes a turn and skips forward so okay.
Speaker 1:So for those people that weren't paying attention and didn't watch previous episode, could you do a high level recap of the disastrous events that happened in Act One, episode One, anything that you've ever heard?
Speaker 2:about All right. So the way Act One concluded, the summary of it basically, was after the hijinks of stealing some hex cords from Jace Tallis, jinx of stealing some hex cords from Jace Tallis, powder created a small weapon that ended up destroying a building and accidentally killing her immediate family, her adopted immediate family.
Speaker 1:It was crazy too.
Speaker 2:The animation was stunning.
Speaker 1:The animation is amazing. That's one of the things that I love about this show. Tech is at an all-time high. We see that Jace has, kind of like, really created his empire. What's his homeboy's name? I always read his homeboy's name oh, victor Victor. With his elements they're trying to make some advancements and Jace is promising to deliver on those enhancements and those advancements. But ML kind of is an entanglement.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah. So with Victor, he was always a young inventor and as he progressed he got smarter. But as he got smarter his ailments developed further. So he has like a limp in his leg and, uh, with hex sec they were trying to see if they could possibly cure it. Now he had been hospitalized and it seems like he is on the brink. He is nearing death and it's it's pretty sad to know that we might just lose a character. Who knows?
Speaker 1:Danny, I'm learning that we might just lose a character, who knows. The thing that shocked me the most about this was the perspective shift. So it was like getting really intimate with Mel and it kind of took me back. I was like hey.
Speaker 2:I got you, I see you.
Speaker 1:And then, as soon as Victor needed him they ain't even in no relationship, but they have a good friendship and a brotherhood. He was just like deuces Mel, and Mel was like I don't like that. You left me high and dry. He's like look, my homeboy, my homeboy, now, what kind of want to get into you? Put in the notes you put in?
Speaker 2:what'd you put in notes? Oh, so, uh, in the time jump. Uh, one of the first acts, the first scene sequences, was a blip that was smuggling drugs, which is now called shimmer. It was like a, like an enhancing drug, where they grow physically and become stronger and, yeah, yeah, like that. You know big muscles, but they look more monstrous than human. And it's unfortunate, because it's also very addictive, and with the way they set up the drug, is that they are now developing high amounts of it and shipping it into the cities.
Speaker 1:So Powder has grown up and she is now called Jinx and that's something I wanted to touch on, to kind of do a little shady segue. The things that happen in your childhood affect you in your adulthood Absolutely Under Soko's toolage, and Soko is like anguish, irritation, all the different things. And what does Jinx come across? What does she get?
Speaker 2:and what does james come across? What does she get well with this? Unfortunate events from season one. Uh, so sorry. Uh act one. She develops into this person that's very sporadic and uh uh intellectual, but at the same time manic and it's it's very know, it's kind of yikes.
Speaker 1:Dare I say I truly feel like her character is based off of Harley Quinn Absolutely, absolutely High intelligence. People think she's talking to herself. She's talking to her. You know her day-in-the-lut ones, milo Clagger. She sees them in a lot of different things. Her intelligence is off the chart.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, because she creates these weapons and she's able to manufacture them very quickly. So it's like she's clearly a genius, but she's using her genius for the wrong purpose.
Speaker 1:I will say self-motivation. It's kind of interesting when Vi is broken out of jail by Caitlin. She said it was by Jace's decree, because now he's on the council they kind of voted him in, which was actually very shocking. But when it happened and how it happened, I was just like wow, intricate, it's a little bit deeper than what they made it into. Wow, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:It's a little bit deeper than what they made it into. Wow, yeah, yeah, he got voted in to become a council member because there was a threat because of Jinx. Jinx had stolen an important item, which is called a hex core Yep, the blue orb. And they were like, okay, we got to be careful. The people of the undercity are clearly capable of manufacturing something that can handle this, so maybe we should freeze commerce, maybe we should stop the hex gates, maybe we should do, etc. And in doing so, they actually brought up Jace to be a council member so that they can manage everything on a deeper level there was a lot of politicking, and a lot of politicking I don't know if you know what that is.
Speaker 1:Hey, I gotta bring the facts. Jace was very much Using his brilliance, his facial features, his attractiveness, and using what he had to get where he wanted to get. Like he is the face and that was something that you know. Victoria said to him like oh no, no, no, you're the face of Aztec, you that you know. Victor said to him like oh no, no, no, you're the face of Hashtag. You know you, go forth, I'm just who I am, and it's kind of interesting how all these characters see themselves. You know, like Mel is this confident person, but the moment that Jason ran away, it's like dang, you left me high and dry, like you gonna do this to me. But he still played into his hand and this act was like look, you need to turn the tables. Yeah, you need to do this, you need to start to this person, because Hextech has evolved and I like to call it creative destruction, but yeah, it's actually an econ thing. Are you aware of creative destruction? Quick, quick history lesson. Okay, so creative destruction is think Netflix and blockbuster.
Speaker 1:I know you're old enough to know what blockbuster is I'm not doing this with you If you're not but like blockbuster rented, netflix, streamed originally came out. They had disc. They switched to streaming. You don't have to do a disc, it's all in one one, and that's the way that the technology goes. So because of that it's like oh well, so the blips go ahead.
Speaker 2:I was gonna mention. Another part that definitely stood out was the fact that when vi was released, she went to look after the goons Silico's goons and she encountered Savika, the one-armed girl.
Speaker 1:She jacked up with the little Shimmer. She was like eh.
Speaker 2:Yeah, she was definitely an enemy. Oh misery.
Speaker 1:But on some real stuff Like this series is good. You know, I can't wait To watch the rest of you know, act 3, which is you know what 7, 8, 9, and then we get to you know, dive into Season 2 and do a little bit Of review on that. Is there anything you want to leave with the people today? Okay, well, based on where we are Right now, I would say dive into season two and do a little bit of review on that, is there?
Speaker 2:anything you want to leave with the people today, okay? Well, based on where we are right now, I would say keep an open mind as to what to expect, because there's twists and turns before you could even predict them. So just prepare yourself. I'm going to come back.
Speaker 1:I'm like he was right, y'all he was right. But yeah, I don't know. This has just been a very interesting ride and I will tell you I'm looking forward to learning more and we'll be back to talk about the final act of season one and then we're going to go to season two and go from there. Okay, got it. Thank you guys, and talk to you soon.
Speaker 2:Bye.
