Summer is in full swing. Vacations are underway. Our kids are making a splash… But for parents of neurodivergent kids, our thoughts might already be drifting toward the uncertainties of a new school year. Will they have the right teacher? Will they make a friend? Will this year be better than last? Yes, there are benefits to planning ahead… But if we spend our summer worrying about September, we will surely miss the joys of July…

Summer is in full swing. Vacations are underway. Our kids are making a splash, quite literally. But for parents of neurodivergent kids, our thoughts might already be drifting toward the uncertainties of a new school year. Will they have the right teacher? Will they make a friend? Will this year be better than last? Yes, there are benefits to planning ahead. But if we spend our summer worrying about September, we will surely miss the joys of July. Welcome to the Tender Resilience Podcast, providing encouragement to the parents of neurodivergent kids. If your child has autism, ADHD, OCD, auditory processing disorder, learning disabilities, anxiety, or any other neurodiverse condition, let's cheer each other on. This podcast does not use artificial intelligence, just real life experience and a heartfelt desire to lift up moms and dads so that you realize just how amazing you are. For parents of neurodivergent kids, planning and worrying about the next school year often starts as soon as the previous school year ends, hoping that next year will be better, anxious over what students will be in your child's class, concerned over how your child will handle the transition. We know it's hard to keep the thoughts from flowing, especially when you've already experienced significant difficulties in the past. But one thing is sure, as wonderful of a parent as you are, you can't solve September problems in the middle of July. If you can, then you're the one who needs to be doing a podcast. And if they sense we're already anxious about the next school year, it could easily increase their anxiety as well. During the school year, most of our neurodivergent kids have to work hard to keep up. Many of them mask, they navigate sensory overload and social challenges. They follow schedules, expectations, transitions, and demands all day long. But for now, it's summer break. Your child deserves a chance to exhale, and so do you. Your kid gets one summer as a six-year-old. One summer before middle school. One summer before they become an adult. One of the greatest lessons we can teach our kids, and remind ourselves, is that life isn't something to survive. It's something to enjoy. And joy can exist in the middle of uncertainty. An ice cream run, an outdoor movie night, a summer concert, a belly flop in the pool, collecting seashells on the beach or fireflies by the lake. Moments of laughter. Moments of connection. Moments that have nothing to do with school. The worries can wait. The unknowns can wait. But this summer won't wait. It will pass way too quick. And this summer deserves your full attention. And so does your remarkable child. So exhale and enjoy. Please subscribe or give us a like. Thank you from all of us at Hedgecock Media Group.
