In this episode, Petra shared their experiences breastfeeding four children, struggling as a teen mom yet finding success with preparation and support. Petra gave birth via unplanned C-section at 16 with no education or support, resulting in painful attempts, feelings of failure, and early formula supplementation. Despite another C-section, Petra prepared through research but faced an underdeveloped baby and pumping issues, switching to formula by four months due to stress and an unsupportive environment. With a vaginal delivery after preparation, Petra easily breastfed for 13 months with supportive family, celebrating their role though facing pumping challenges while working. Petra emphasizes the importance of education & support both before and after birth.

Petra is a birth doula, birth educator, wife and mom to 4 kids. She is inspired by people who share their raw, nitty gritty mom stories like she does to help showcase the realities of motherhood which include the great but also the not so great things. Each of her breastfeeding journeys have been soo different and have not only helped her grow as a person and mother but has also encouraged her to be able to help serve her clients in a more open and unique way since no two experiences are exactly the same. By sharing her stories, her hope is to help women realize that it’s okay to not be perfect, it’s okay to not have it all figured out because we’re all just trying to figure it out as we go.
