The Ali Dee Show

Ep 90: The Road to $10,000 Monthly Sales

Ali Dee Episode 90

Ready to transform your product business from struggling to thriving? This episode delivers exactly what you need to hit that coveted $10K monthly sales mark.

Most creative entrepreneurs start their product businesses out of passion rather than pure profit motive. Yet that same creativity often leads us astray when we try to please everyone with an ever-expanding product line. The result? Constant tweaking, scattered focus, and disappointing sales despite your best efforts.

Breaking this cycle requires five strategic shifts that I've personally used to build multiple seven-figure product brands.

Want personalized guidance on implementing these strategies? DM me "strategy" on Instagram at ali.dee.ceo  to learn about my three-hour intensive sessions where we'll map your exact path to sustainable five-figure months.

Speaker 1:

Here's what I would do if I wanted to grow my product-based business to 10k per month in sales. I wasn't reaching that yet and I was missing some of these foundational things, so this is exactly what I would do and why they work. Welcome to the Ali D show, the show for product-based business owners who are ready to turn their passion into profit and build a brand that actually sells. I'm your host, ali D, and I've sold millions of dollars in products and currently have my brand in retailers across the globe. Now I'm teaching you to do the same. Each week. We'll dive into real talk, proven strategies and behind-the-scenes tips to help you grow your sales, scale your systems and create the business and life you've been dreaming of. If you're ready to go from overwhelmed to sold out, you're in the right place. Let's dive in. Hey, trendsetters, welcome back to the Allie D Show. We got a good one today. I hope you are feeling good. We are starting another week of entrepreneurship. I love getting to spend this time with you, and literally just recording these podcasts is one of my favorite things in the entire world to do, and I'm so glad that you love them. So if you've been loving the show, do me a favor, share it with your trendsetter friends, your product-based business owner friends. Let them know about this podcast, because I think there's not a lot of information out there for women that are trying to grow and scale their product-based businesses and if it is, it's either very bro marketing or it could be very one-sided. It's someone that just has expertise in maybe one area and hasn't actually been through it like I have. I'm literally like you. I've been through the trenches, I know what it takes to grow multiple million dollar brands, and that's why I love this podcast, because I can share all that information with you here without feeling like I'm limited to a three minute freaking TikTok, okay. So here's what we're going to talk about today. You ready? Give yourself the high five over there if you're ready, okay. So today we're talking about if I wanted to grow my product brand to 10K per month in sales, these are the five things that I would do. So for my product-based brand girlies out there.

Speaker 1:

This episode is for you if you are trying to grow and scale still to about 10K per month in sales, because this, to me, if you're not quite hitting this yet, that means that there's still a lot of foundational things that are missing from your business, which is not a big deal, because most people most of us that are product-based business owners, we start this because number one or I should say the biggest reason we start typically is because we are creatives and we have an idea and we have something we want to bring into the world, something that's unique and ours, and it's not typically something like oh well, I just want to, like, make a quick buck. You know, I just want to find some trending, random thing and try to sell a bunch of it on TikTok shop. That's not the vibes here. There's so many people out there that are really great at that, but for me, I'm more like. My focus is helping the product-based business girlies who are out there, who have a brand that they're trying to build and grow and scale something that's like their baby, that they love, even if you may not love it all the time, because sometimes it's a pain in the butt. At the end of the day, we're not going anywhere, right. We love our businesses and we just want the absolute best for them. So here's what I would do if I wanted to grow my product-based business to 10k per month in sales. I wasn't reaching that yet and I was missing some of these foundational things. So this is exactly what I would do and why they work.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so again, right now you probably feel like you are posting a bunch. You're in like a never-ending tweaking stage, like not that kind of tweaking, but tweaking like you're always tweaking things, like you're in like a never-ending tweaking stage, like not that kind of tweaking, but tweaking like you're always tweaking things. Like you're tweaking the website, you're tweaking the logo, you're tweaking your camera graphics, you're tweaking your product offering, you're tweaking your email marketing, and you're like, okay, I'm tweaking everything under the sun and I'm still not seeing results. There's still a lot of guessing going on, like you don't really know exactly where to focus, and also a lot of hope, and, quite frankly, I love hope. So I'm not I'm not going to poo poo the hope, because we all want to hope for the best, but hope doesn't necessarily bring us results. So it's kind of why you feel right now overwhelmed and definitely underpaid. So let's fix that. Okay, let's get you out of that rut.

Speaker 1:

So here's the five things that I would immediately start doing, and if there's any of these that you're like, yep, I know I need to be doing this, or maybe you've started this or maybe you're kind of like half doing it. This is a reminder that these are absolute must do's. They're non-negotiables. Okay, so the first thing I would do if I wanted to reach 10k per month in sales is I would literally niche down like my income and life depended on it. Because your income does depend on it, and I know we talked a little bit in the last episode more about niching down and how. I believe this is the whole future of our industry the combination of having the perfect niche with the perfect niched down product and not having too many product offerings and getting people scattered and all over the place. If you niche down like your income depends on it again like it does, and stop trying to sell to everyone. I love you, but you're still trying to sell to everyone.

Speaker 1:

Okay, we can't please Aunt Jackie, uncle Tim, sally, sue from high school. We can't please all these people with our products, right, and maybe you have some people pleasing tendencies and those tend to come through because someone's like, hey, you know what you should make, you should make that for so-and-so or make something more similar for this kind of thing. You know, people kind of get in your head and tell you you know that you should be doing this and should be doing that, and that could be really overwhelming. But that takes you off track from number one, your original idea, right? We've all kind of gotten off track of that. First thing we thought about creating, like maybe it was like some super cute stationery. And next thing, you know, you got stationery, you got mugs, you got stationery, you got mugs. You got towels, you got handbags, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and you're like okay, but I really like, I really wanted to create. You know that one thing first. So there's usually that one thing and we can very easily stray away from that, thinking that we're going to get more sales if we have a bigger product offering.

Speaker 1:

This is one of the most common mistakes that I see. But this is why you're not yet reaching that 10k per month in sales, because you've varied off. You've gotten off the path of what you first started this for in the first place, and I don't blame you Again. We're creatives. We have ideas pop into our mind all the time. We're like I want to create this and then I'm going to make that and I'm going to do this. And I've been there, I've been where you are and getting off of the path of what you are known for or what you want to be known for is going to really hurt your income because it's too competitive, it's too noisy and you won't be able to reach anybody in the first place.

Speaker 1:

So stop trying to sell to everyone. Get wildly specific about who you serve. Who are your heroes? You guys know I talk about heroes. In this community. The customers are the heroes in the journey. It's not our brand, it's not our products, it's the customers. So who do you want to help every day? Who does your product help and what do they actually want?

Speaker 1:

So this is again getting super niched right, like I talked about in the last episode. So that's the first thing that I would do. Number two I would create content with a strategy and not vibes. So posting random day-in-the-life reels, random small business, woe-is-me type of content, random oh, I saw an influencer doing this thing, maybe I should try it. That's all. Just desperately trying to figure out a way to create content which is, again, I get it. I'm not trying to say you know, knock you or say like, oh my gosh, but what I want you to understand is that's not how we create content as business owners and this is a never ending hamster wheel of a content creation nightmare that I want you to get off of. Okay, that's why I'm saying this again None of these things is to make you feel like, oh, I thought I was doing enough and now I'm not. My whole point here in this episode is to get you focused on the right things, because I know it feels like a lot. Episode is to get you focused on the right things because I know it feels like a lot.

Speaker 1:

So, when you create content from a place of like you know something random, like you're not really sure what type of content to do. So again, you start looking and seeing like what are the trends? What is she doing? That ends up being a very, very hard place to grow from and it ends up with burnouts. Or you're just out there hoping for a freaking miracle. Again there's that word, again, that I love hope, and I don't want you to have to show up from a place like that. I don't want you to show up from a place where it's like I just hope that I'm doing this right. I want you to know, when you press that red button and you go to make content that you know. The content is exactly what it needs to be to take people from being a random person online to one of your customers to loving your brand, to becoming so obsessed with you that they're like, yes, I want to follow them your customers to loving your brand, to becoming so obsessed with you that they're like, yes, I want to follow them, I want to buy their stuff over and over and over again. That's what your content should do. It should not just be out there floating in content land space hoping that it's going to go viral one day.

Speaker 1:

So every piece of content that you make remember this Every piece of content that you make has a purpose. It's visibility, it's trust or it's conversion. This is what I teach you inside my Trendsetter content strategy. If you're in Trendsetter, you know this. This is the three B's. Okay, it's be seen, that's our visibility content. Build trust Obviously, that's our trust content and buy from you. That's our conversion content. So it's the three B's. So if you want to learn exactly how this goes, jump inside trendsetter. Dm me for the link, because this is going to be something that's going to transform the way that you show up and do content.

Speaker 1:

But content is not the end all be all for your business. It is very important, it is a heartbeat, but it is not the end all be all for your business. It is very important, it is a heartbeat, but it's not everything. You need to understand the full picture of growing and scaling a product based brand. So I don't want you to get and and it's it's wild how like 90 percent of your time and this happens a lot with business owners is focused on their content and they're leaving hardly any room for effort in any other area to grow and scale their business.

Speaker 1:

So, while content is so important you guys know I love content and I love a good content strategy I want you to know exactly what you're doing so it opens up your time to be able to do something else and you don't always have on your mind that feeling like I gotta go create content, I gotta go create content, I gotta go create content. There is a world, I'm telling you. There is a world where you learn a content strategy, like I teach you inside Trendsetter, and your content is more of a set it and forget it situation. That's what it is for me now. Our content is so easy and fun to make, because we know exactly what we're doing and it has a purpose. It's not just random. So that's what I want you to understand. That was number two. Okay, create content with a strategy. Number three who's ready for number three? I want you to build a system for selling daily. Build a system for selling daily, no more.

Speaker 1:

I only sell things when it's a new drop or a new product. Guys, there's people out there that sell the same product over and over and over and over again every single day, and that's all they have. So stop getting drawn into the mind drama of, well, I need to make it in another color, or I need to make it in another variety, or I need to make like 10 other random things that kind of go with my product, but kind of not, because I want to try to reach more people and maybe if I had more products and I'm tired of posting the same thing over and over and over again, get that mind drama out of here. You could be making millions of dollars selling one thing. Going back to our stationery example, you could be selling one style of stationery and that's it and become a millionaire Instead of focusing and using all your energy trying to create a zillion different types of products you could be focused on.

Speaker 1:

Just how am I going to sell this one thing every single day? So it's on repeat. It's like a machine. So you have to set up a flow that you can handle, that feels good for you and your business and your lifestyle, to bring in sales 24-7 without needing new stuff, new promo, new discount, new products, new color, new style, new. I mean we got to get that gone. We got to get that gone.

Speaker 1:

I was having this conversation inside Trendsetter VIP, actually more about parring down on your product offerings, getting really specific again for the super niche so you can target the right person with the right products and have that explosion happen. When you do that, you just repeat it. We don't get emotional about you know it's the same thing happening. We're making money over here and we're doing it in a way that it's like our business, it's our product and sometimes it's. Our job as a CEO is to rein in our creativity a little bit and be like you know what? I know I have a zillion ideas. This is me 24 seven. I am fighting new entrepreneur ideas day in and day out. Okay, this is my brain literally every hour.

Speaker 1:

There's a funny meme where it's like Steve Carroll from the Office, I think is his name, and he's like Steve Carroll from the Office, I think is his name. And he's like. You know, I have had this idea since noon, like, and you know, I have been dreaming about this since noon, that kind of thing, right, and I sent it to my husband because it's so funny, because I'll be like Corey, I have been thinking about this. This is going to be the next. I've been thinking about it since 10 minutes ago. It's like okay, take a chill, right. So this is why I don't want you to get again distracted. I want you to focus on a system for daily selling and don't get distracted by all the things that are going to pop into your head. We're trying to get to 10k per month here. If that's the focus, this is where you need to be, not all over the place.

Speaker 1:

Number four number four this one is a good one, but it's again hard for people to stick to pick one, maybe two Main sales channels and go all in One or two. My friend, you do not have to be everywhere trying everything. I would master one sales channel first, okay. So maybe this is TikTok shop, maybe it's your Shopify website, maybe it's Etsy, maybe it's Pinterest, maybe it's selling on Amazon. Maybe it's Etsy, maybe it's Pinterest, maybe it's selling on Amazon, maybe it's email marketing. But master one or two of these first. Get really locked in bringing in consistent sales with those first, before you add on more sales channels. Do we need to and want to add on more sales channels? Yes, but when we're still in the growing phase and we want to get to 10K sales, you're going to get there much faster when you hone in on just a couple and get really effing good at those, instead of trying to spread yourself too thin and being everywhere at once, and then you're going to get very, very small results from having your focus all over the place.

Speaker 1:

So it's like focus on what you're good at, get hardcore good at that, get the sales coming in. If you're like you know what I go live once a week and show my product. Maybe you sell candles and you go live once a week and you show your cute little candles and you talk to your customers and you are getting a lot of sales from that, and you're only going live once a week. Because that's all the quote unquote time you have to do it because the rest of the time you're trying to go live on Instagram and Facebook and scale and go over here on Pinterest and maybe you want to sell on walmartcom and you want to go on Amazon and Etsy and like you're exploring all the things. But the reality is TikTok is what's bringing in the money.

Speaker 1:

Go, what if you went live four times a week on TikTok Forget the other crap, get super good at that. Now you've 4x'd or maybe more your income and it's going to continue to snowball effect and in just a couple months, instead of you being all over the place having little sales coming now and then, and mainly just from one place, now you focus on that one place. You make it a machine for you that prints money and you repeat that process more. You double, triple, quadruple down on what's working and you get to that 10K per month using that one or two channels. I always like at least two, one to two. One if it's like social media, okay, so like one social media channel plus one other channel, preferably. Get really good at that and then we can add in another one. Right, then we can go.

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, I'm going hardcore on my TikTok live. My candles are selling like hotcakes on there. It feels fun, I like it, I love being live on there and you know I really hated trying to make Pinterest posts and I was just doing it because everyone said, oh, you need to be on Pinterest. And Pinterest is a search engine which, again, it could be very good for you if that's your thing. Some people love Pinterest and they're going to look at TikTok and they're going to turn their nose up at going live on TikTok. And this is the beauty of being an entrepreneur Is that you are the one in control of how you show up and sell your products, what feels good to you and your life, and get super focused on that. Okay, will you promise me this? Will you promise me, after this podcast, you're going to pick your one or two channels and go all in and really start building, building, building. Look at the data. Where is it currently coming in from? Where are the sales currently feeling easier than other places? Make a strategy for that, okay.

Speaker 1:

And then, lastly, show up like a CEO, not a hobbyist. This is a massive one, because you still see yourself as like a hobbyist. You're not looking at your business like we're doing. Five figures per month, six figures per year, seven figures per year. It's a different energy when you show up from a place of. I'm not a hobbyist, this is my job, this is my career. Not a hobbyist, this is my job, this is my career, this is my passion, this is my company.

Speaker 1:

Use the word company because that instantly elevates everything that you do in your mind, because when you think of a company, you associate that with something big, something massive. It's a company. So think about your business as you're running a company. You're not running a hobby, you're not just having a cute little business, a little creative thing. You know, people are going to ask you how's your little business doing? Oh, it's doing great. We just did 20K in sales today. What? That's not just a little business, that's a company.

Speaker 1:

And I want you to start thinking more like that. How would you show up or what would you see yourself doing if you were making 10k per month in sales? Visualize that right now. What is your, what does it look like? The you that's making 10k per month in sales? What is she doing? And instead of waiting to do that, do it now. Would you be going live more If you thought, okay, yeah, if I was making 10K per month in sales for my product brand, I would definitely be live on TikTok three times a week. I would be killing it on my Instagram, like whatever it looks like for you, right? Maybe it's well. I would have added 5,000 more people to my email list. I would have more people in my Facebook group.

Speaker 1:

Again, this is customizable to you and your business. By the way, if you want help customizing any of this, dm me the word strategy or hit me up on Instagram, because I do have. They may be sold out by the time you hear this, but I do have just a couple of strategy sessions left and I may open up some more because they've been just snatched up so quickly. But these strategy sessions is three hours working with me inside telegram where we map out exactly what you need to do based on your business, like I dive into your business with you and then I give you the exact plan you need to know what to focus on to grow and scale your business by the end of the call. So no more guesswork.

Speaker 1:

At the end of the call you're going to know okay, here's the truth. Here's what I need to be working on. They are so fun, by the way. So if you're like, yeah, I need a three-hour strategy session with Allie, just DM me about it and we can talk about it. Okay, I actually just had an Instagram message come through as I'm recording this that someone said, yes, I'm in, send me the link. So these are going super fast. So three hours working with me specifically on creating a strategy for your business. By the end of the three hours, you're going to know exactly what to focus on. Doesn't that sound amazing? It's just, ah, knowing Knowledge is power, right?

Speaker 1:

So, just wrapping up again, number five you need to show up like a CEO, not a hobbyist. Treat your business like a company, not a side hustle, and that alone is going to make a huge difference. And I want you to think about it every day when you wake up. You guys, I have the trendsetter way inside the membership inside trendsetter, which is literally a map of how you can set yourself up to think like a CEO every single day. It's the blueprint, it's the framework. If you're like Allie, I don't even know how to think like a CEO. Go inside trendsetter, watch the first training, the trendsetter way, where I map it all out. It was a really fun training. By the way, it was a live Zoom call and I went through everything that you need to do as a CEO to switch your focus, because this alone could get you to 10k months in a week. It's that powerful. All right, friends.

Speaker 1:

So that's the five things. Let's run through them again in case you're taking notes. Number one niche down like your life depends on it not to be dramatic. Number two create content with a strategy, not vibes. Number three build a system for selling daily. Number four pick one or two main sales channels and go all in. Remember one could be social media. One something else. Number five show up like a CEO, not a hobbyist. All right, thank you so much for listening to this episode of the podcast. Again, if you like it, leave me a review, share it with your friends, dm me on IG and let me know. We have so much amazing stuff coming in the next month or two for the Trendsetter program. I can't wait to share with you guys the announcements and everything that's going on. If you have any questions on your business, please feel free to DM me on IG and I'll see the best way that I can support you and your growth. Have an amazing day.
