Chapter Break with Dave Greschner
BIO:
Dave grew up on a dairy farm in northwest Wisconsin, and went on to earn a degree in journalism at UW-Eau Claire. He worked at the Rice Lake (WI) newspaper for more than 40 years as sports/outdoors editor, earning 20 first-place awards in the Wisconsin Newspaper Assn. for writing and photography. In retirement, Dave continues to write an outdoors blog, and an outdoors column for three northern Wisconsin newspapers. He lives with his wife Cathy in northwest Wisconsin, where he enjoys a variety of activities on nearby trails, rivers, lakes, and forestland, and in the woodlots of his childhood farm.
SYNOPSIS:
In “Soul of the Outdoors,” Dave takes the reader along in experiencing nature in its raw openness and intricacies. Through the intersections and interactions with the outdoors, he explores how the natural world connects with our daily emotions, feelings, and outlook on life. The book’s journals and essays engage readers with spring hikes to the marsh of emerging frogs and returning birds, summer’s enchantment along the trout stream, a forgotten apple tree in autumn, and a full moon snowshoe hike in winter. Dave strives to give the reader an awareness and enjoyment of the outdoors, and how nature calms and inspires.
