00;00;00;00 - 00;00;25;04

Okay, so we are doing a trial run on our podcast, which is the name for this. Yet? Yeah, it's two dudes talking about motorcycles. That's easy But I actually went ahead and shortened did it to two dudes talk motorcycles because I felt like rolled off the tongue Better That's much better. And then the emails sound much shorter. That's much better than two dudes, one motorcycle.

 00;00;25;04 - 00;00;48;04

That's too. So that is. Yes, that is not that was not a great idea. No. Okay. So we're just doing a trial run, trying to see how things go, because we always like to talk about motorcycles. And, you know, anytime there's a new motorcycle announced, there's something cool going on. We talk about it. So we figured, you know, why not talk about it and also record ourselves talking about it?

 00;00;48;08 - 00;01;08;25

Yeah, we'll give it a shot. And I'm like, Boy, what a time to try with what's been well, what's happened this last month in motorcycle news. Yeah. So we had the was it the EIC. Yeah. Okay. The big motorcycle expo thing. Yeah. I just happen to my have it here. I don't know if they do, but it was.

 00;01;08;28 - 00;01;34;26

Anyway. Yeah. Big, big list of new bikes announced for 2023. In fact, I think I had a pulled up here somewhere. Oh yeah. The EIA SEMA 2022. Yeah. So that was the big motorcycle expo where they just kind of announce a bunch of new models and everything like that. And we both ride ATV bikes. I have the Tiger 900.

 00;01;34;26 - 00;02;10;27

The 2022 model I have 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE. So we're both big fans of adventure bikes. We would love to go ride. You know, do either day rides or overnight rides back. Earlier this year we went to Colorado or a T REI and for a whole weekend and it was a lot of fun. So we always try to keep an eye on new and upcoming motorcycles, especially if they're adv bikes just to see, you know, what's out there, what we can potentially either buy in the future or just just know about because it's always fun to buy new bikes.

 00;02;11;04 - 00;02;26;17

I think it's like like I said, I think it's a pretty good opportunity, just like to try it out, record ourselves for the first time with talking about bikes because like, what did we talk about all the time? So we both started on Honda 500cc different models. Yeah, and I once I got my 2019, you were still on your 500?

 00;02;26;20 - 00;03;09;15

Yeah, my 1200, dude. The 500. Yeah. What was something we always talked about saying that some certain companies should probably be doing so pretty much every manufacturer right now has or had at the time. Pretty much every manufacturer had a middleweight adventure bike. So we're talking anywhere between like 600 to 900 CC or so. Everyone except for a Honda at least any manufacturer that makes adventure bikes and Honda, you either had the 500, the CB 500 X, which I have, which is a very basic beginner friendly bike that's adventure esque, but it doesn't really have any of the features that help it be very adventurous.

 00;03;09;15 - 00;03;34;26

The suspension travel is not very much ATV diet. Yeah, it does not have like heated grips. No heated seat, no cruise control, none of the kind of like the creature comforts that you might want from a bike, that you want to ride long distance and so, yeah. So eventually I upgraded to the Tiger 900 because that is a very, very great mid midway adventure bike.

 00;03;34;26 - 00;03;48;13

It's on the higher end of Midway, but it's still considered a midway adventure bike. Well, and I mean, it seems like part of like the whole the whole middleweight market ability is a price, right? Because like, you know, you look at these larger ATV bikes, even my even the trans scrambler, like, I got it on a steel like this.

 00;03;48;13 - 00;04;09;25

It's nowhere near if I was to buy my bike brand new, it's not in my price range. So now part of that midway ATV, not just engine size, but like affordability for the everyday person, because not everyone can be a dentist and go out and grab a GSA 1250 and excuse the dogs in the background. He might be a hero, but but yep, they can.

 00;04;09;25 - 00;04;47;29

So. So the expo happened and Honda finally announced the Honda Trans ALP, which is a 799 C7, was it 749 or 749 basically a 767 day 860 by 755 755 cc midway adventure bike and this is a bike that a lot of people were kind of looking forward to or hoping, hoping to see from Honda in the future or come out because everyone else has a midway adventure bike.

 00;04;48;02 - 00;05;21;01

Pretty much anyone that makes adventure bikes a lease and, and it's kind of an iconic name because it was a big name in the early 200 or 2000 and the late nineties. Yeah. And the boy that's what we would talk about all the time like on our rides. Like, you know, I just feel like I'd be bragging. Cycle's bike can pull my 500 now and you know and we'd talk about how you have the the ten or a 700 but good luck finding one of those Yeah you know it's very hard to find those.

 00;05;21;01 - 00;05;41;08

And to this day, if you find them, you're not they're not going to go for the 10,000 MSRP like people are like the rocket Tacoma truck. Yeah. Yeah. So you have that issue with those, that's with the Yamaha. And then there was the older Suzuki and we'll get to that with the newer Suzuki that was also announced this year.

 00;05;41;10 - 00;06;00;09

But there are the older ones. They look kind of like they were definitely more street and road oriented. Yeah, smaller wheels, you know, you got your 17 or 18 inch up front. Yeah, 17 in the back and so very road oriented. Not a lot of offroad features sort of considered an adventure bike, but just a very road oriented adventure bike.

 00;06;00;12 - 00;06;22;29

Yeah. And you know, but then like they start hitting like above that 15 Kmart with like the Triumph's, the BMW five or if 5850s And those ones, those like, you know, I guess if you're if you if you like white bread there's like the the versus but again they're not going to be very Yeah offroad oriented Yeah the versus was more so yeah.

 00;06;23;04 - 00;06;43;08

So this is like Honda like why aren't you guys making the midway ATV you're cheaper than all these European brands like and Honda has is known for their reliability. Yeah like people trust the Honda name because they are generally very reliable bikes and they make a lot of good bikes. Yeah. So they should do is. But they were like, that's what we talk about all the time.

 00;06;43;08 - 00;07;10;08

It's like Honda, you need a midway ATV and because you're on your CB, like, I'll be honest, I was kind of like a trans ALP was something in the far back of my mind. I didn't really that was like a bike of the olden days to me. Yeah, yeah. I don't even really, like, know about it until I read up on it after the announcement is I just knew the name, but I didn't know much about the bike and Honda finally announced that and we wanted to talk about it a little bit today because it.

 00;07;10;10 - 00;07;40;15

Okay, let's just start officially. Let's be fair and we'll we should talk about first like the the objective stuff about it. Yeah, let's talk about the good stuff, the objective stuff. So spec wise, it is a very good bike. You know, the specs fold up very, very, very brief. Yeah, a little bit. There are the it's a55 55 cc, four valves per cylinder parallel twin the 555 I'm sorry.

 00;07;40;15 - 00;08;00;16

7750. Sorry about that. Yeah. And so but and before you go too far, that was the same as the exact same engine that was announced in there. The Hornet. Yes. Yeah. Thank you. The new Hornet, you know, and so it's, this is a new engine for Honda for this year, which is, as far as I can tell from Honda.

 00;08;00;16 - 00;08;19;07

And this is just me talking. I don't know that much about them, but it seems like they don't do much with their engines very often because they're so they're just they're so reliable. And, you know, once they come out with one engine, they try to put it across different lines of bikes. We've seen it like our first bikes have the same exact engine just a little bit differently.

 00;08;19;07 - 00;08;39;04

Yeah, because mine has many ATV bike and this is a cruiser, so. Yeah, but seems like the 450 engine. The reason like the 489 or 470 something. Something like that. Yeah. So same engine and this is kind of what we're seeing again is, you know, it's the same engine being used on a street bike as well as an ATV bike.

 00;08;39;11 - 00;09;06;28

And a lot of manufacturers do that pretty much any manufacturer does that because it's you know, it's cheaper, it's more economical, and it's just easier to push them out down the supply chain. And it's they're good engines. Honda is known for their good engines. I my lawnmower is a Honda and that things are in Renaissance times. And so other than the engine you know you got your standard ATV fairing you got to show a suspension and fully adjustable front and back which is everyone loves.

 00;09;07;01 - 00;09;24;27

Yeah it's got good discs I don't think they're Brembo I think they're they're nice. Yeah. Brands that they use. Yeah. They use in a lot of their bikes. That's correct. And it does have as far as I know, I think it does have heated grips and cruise control and all the things are all options or at least they're optional.

 00;09;25;02 - 00;09;47;12

Yeah, at the very least they're optional. I'm not entirely sure on cruise control, but okay, I believe that is something I can add. Yeah. Okay. Which would make sense again for like the market this is going for obviously it's not a 900 or. Yeah, a 50. But again, with what Honda does, you know like I think they're going for a price point between array would offer.

 00;09;47;19 - 00;10;15;12

Yeah. But this is obviously going to have more creature comforts to it and that's kind of what's what I think the potential buyer would be looking for. Yeah, and beyond that, it's got different riding modes. So you know, your standard like Off-Road Modes, road modes, Rain Mode and yeah, it's got a TFT, which I am a big fan of because I like being able to see all the information on the screen and being able to kind of customize and adjusted depending on what I'm doing.

 00;10;15;14 - 00;10;41;00

And before I bought my Tiger 900, I Test Road a an Africa twin brand new effort to win. I really like the TFT and just because it was very customizable, had a lot of information that would support Apple CarPlay. I don't think the Translate supports Apple CarPlay and just supports like Bluetooth connectivity because the base itself, because it's a smaller TFT that'd be kind of smart for them I think really like they'll be very good selling point if they put that in there.

 00;10;41;02 - 00;11;02;13

But anyways, besides that point, it's got all the standard fare and actually has a very decent selection of riding modes. So aside from the usual like road sport rain and off road modes, it has a usable user selection. Although you can turn off ABS and a lot of the assist which I can't afford turn on abs on my Tiger 900 because I have a rally traveling pro.

 00;11;02;16 - 00;11;16;25

But I keep forgetting that because yeah, like the Off-Road pros. I mean this is off tangent and will just I'm just going to put it out there like I have an offroad pro I can turn all that off. It's a little much on it. I'm not like, but at least you have the office. I have the option. Yeah.

 00;11;16;26 - 00;11;40;21

Yeah. So it's cool that Honda's doing that with the trans out. And beyond that, you know, it's two tires versus tubeless, which I prefer. A person would prefer tubeless, which, but that's a personal preference. I don't do any crazy off roading. So if you do, if you do you some crazy off roading stuff maybe to build a better preference.

 00;11;40;26 - 00;12;13;14

Yeah. And that's okay. I'm not going to try to be unfair toward the bike. I think if you're going to do some more intense off roading, this might not be the bike, but we can probably. Yeah. So it's. Yeah. And then any other objective things spec wise or you know I to the bike I think this will kind of blend into just being like just talking points toward the bike I guess you know that we can move into talking about like the trans alta history a little bit.

 00;12;13;16 - 00;12;33;06

Okay. I haven't really looked in too much. Early on, sometime in the eighties, this bike came out and as the years went on, it got a power bump along with the Africa twin from there. And then at some point, I just slightly, you know, as this kind of discontinued. Yeah it stopped it, you know, but again, I wasn't super familiar with the trans ALP as a motorcycle.

 00;12;33;06 - 00;12;49;04

I heard the name. I knew it was a thing, I think on Instagram or something, you know, it's you'd see like people are still riding their old beat up trans alp across the world and things like that. And a lot of it was a name. Yeah, it was a popular name. It was a name and you know, it looked like pretty standard fare.

 00;12;49;04 - 00;13;11;18

And for, for that time period, you know, very blocky, very kind of squared off designs and stuff like that. And you see that with pretty much a lot of older motorcycles. Um, so that brings us to but yeah, so that's this goes back to like, you know, we were, we gripe all the time about like and this was even before I had my scrambler when I found it used for like such a good price that I found it at.

 00;13;11;18 - 00;13;33;14

Right. I was just like, like there needed to be, like, an ATV bike that's, like, not 15 K plus. Yeah, Something nice and reliable. Affordable, reliable. Yeah. You know, I we're. We're six foot something men, and we've probably each way over ¬£200, like a little 500 bike like pulling long, long miles. It's very tiring. Yeah. Especially with like a hill.

 00;13;33;18 - 00;13;51;28

Oh yeah. You know, like I said, would struggle up hills a lot. Yeah, a lot. So, you know, and then so that was like to me, like, that's us moving into the, the importance of the trans of not like historically it was a bike that, you know, back in the day I can't really talk to that because I, I see older bikes and I don't have as much power as bikes today.

 00;13;51;28 - 00;14;14;29

How. Yeah. Unless you're looking at like speed demons and Yeah, just like the crazy sport bikes back of the day. So you know, so like, so those are something that was like missing. There wasn't a lot of competition for Midway ATV. The 2700 seemed in my mind from what I could see, like, you know, at the price point I was looking at getting is like, okay, it's Henry 700.

 00;14;14;29 - 00;14;33;26

Like if you don't want to spend 12,013 plus, Yeah, get a ten. Italia is a great bike. It's a great it's super strong but it is definitely more offroad oriented. Yeah. Really orient oriented for an adventure bike. But a lot of people love it for its simplicity. It doesn't have a lot of like the electronics and stuff that you'd find the more expensive.

 00;14;33;26 - 00;14;51;11

Yeah. And complex adventure bikes, which in turn does help with reliability a lot. You have less of a chance to worry about that. And that's nice because actually that's one thing I did want to bring up. But back to like talking about some of the features of the this new trans ALP is it is a ride by wire.

 00;14;51;13 - 00;15;05;12

Yeah, I didn't I don't know if we mentioned that before and I just want to make sure they had traction control as all the rider aids and wheelie controls and things like that, which is very obvious. Yeah, just something to go along with it, you know, on the itinerary. Like I don't know if the itinerary had power modes.

 00;15;05;12 - 00;15;27;05

I don't remember. I think it does have like three modes. It's like, I think it's like Road Sport and Off-Road or just something very basic. I don't know if it has. I think it has traction control, but I don't know. And they just announced like their new the ten array. I forget what the exact name for it, but it's kind of like the more adventure oriented show.

 00;15;27;10 - 00;15;55;13

So last year they announced the world rally, which actually has two fuel tanks, which is kind of interesting. Oh, that's right. That's right. Yeah. I figured is going to have the word rally in its title and it has like a like a proper TFT instead of like the old school LCD screen. And this one does have writing was I don't know if the more like the base model has any of that, but even then like I just like with that looks like the base model, that's what we're going to call it is like that the hits is such like a perfect market for somebody who wants to go out and do some stuff for not

 00;15;55;13 - 00;16;11;02

like, you know, it's a lot of money, but not they're you're not buying like you, you know, buy a tiger anything. Yeah yeah. You know it's that's funny you're not. Yeah. 17 K on a bike. Yeah. You're not buying a bike that is easily worth more than a car. Yeah. You know, it's like a used car. So it's like.

 00;16;11;04 - 00;16;25;10

So there's just like that importance of, of like it's just going to open it, open this market to a lot of people. And, you know, even though like when will they going to reset were going to mention it but I have some opinions about this bike I, I told one of my friends who wants to get into riding.

 00;16;25;10 - 00;16;48;19

I said, hey, man, keep your eye open on this bike. I just like just I, I said, I don't mind. There's some things I don't like about it, but like, if you are a responsible adult, you can ride. Are you willing to learn to ride? I could see the speed. It's a very I think it would be a very good like yeah, maybe starter bike if you want to spend a little bit more money and something that you can grow into instead of outgrow really quickly like a CB 500.

 00;16;48;20 - 00;17;13;10

Yeah. And like from four from 755. I think like you're going to have plenty of power. That's definitely plenty of power. Yeah. So like, that's so I could send money to it could be a one and done purchase of a bike. Yeah. Be buying one within eight months of getting your first bike like somebody. Yeah. No. So, so shall we move on to the subject of part of the bike or do you have more to share about the importance of it.

 00;17;13;15 - 00;17;29;07

No, I think we've just that's pretty much all I really have to say for it. Like, you know, I think we should at some point, we should still bring it in, but we can do that as we talk about the subjectivity of the bike, or at least comparing it to the other bikes out there, like more specifically with like the new one that was announced.

 00;17;29;11 - 00;17;49;29

Okay. But yeah, that's why we left ad for it. Like, it seems like it has a culture and a history to it, which you know as a triumph owners. Yeah I think yeah. That it's vain but that's it's it's weird it's cool to have got a bike that has a bit of history behind the name or Yeah like a bit of a heritage and trans op is one of those bikes.

 00;17;50;00 - 00;18;14;00

Yeah. So, so that brings us to the point that we both have kind of like did this is honoring that heritage visually. I think technically they are honoring their heritage like spec wise, deep down you have a picture of it, It's a bike. I do have a picture, but what we did not like about it is how it looks.

 00;18;14;04 - 00;18;36;14

And this is a purely subjective thing because someone else could totally think that the bike looks good. Yeah. And someone could think my bike doesn't look good because it's not for everyone. ATV bikes have a very wide range of styles. I will be. I don't think I ever mentioned this to you, but, you know, if I've gone on dates or something or talking to and talking to somebody about a motorcycle on our trips that we take to see our bikes next to each other, they like I like that one.

 00;18;36;14 - 00;18;55;02

They always point in mine. Yeah, that's true, because yours looks like a classic. Yeah, your bike looks like a motorcycle, like a naked TV. Yeah, well, people would picture a motorcycle to look like It's got the round headlight, the filter, the metal fuel tank. Yeah. And all the guts are very own stuff, like. Yeah, beautiful exhaust. Yeah, yeah.

 00;18;55;05 - 00;19;11;28

My bike as fairings. It has a bigger it has a bigger tank, but it doesn't have a cool, round retro style headlight. But people like Yeah. And for people who don't know motorcycles or don't understand them, you know, like just like more often than not, it seems like when I've shown pictures of our trips people. Yeah, I like that one.

 00;19;12;01 - 00;19;36;16

Yeah. Pointing at mine, that's fine. But you know. But yeah, like yeah like, but they, but look at that one too. It's all these nice, nice little edges. It's something so comfortable, long distance. So anyway, the transom is, in our opinion, just a very dull looking bike. I wouldn't say it's like I have a picture right here. So we're going to just pull that up.

 00;19;36;18 - 00;20;03;06

So this is the result and it's just looks very basic. It's yeah, I love the colors. I just love the colors. Like we the colors on the golden rims. Yeah, Yeah. Or the golden wheels. Sorry. It looks it looks like a mini Africa twin from the side. Yeah. My biggest issue that I had with it was the front of it is they're using the same headlight that they use from the Hornet.

 00;20;03;08 - 00;20;19;00

And I think it's the same headlight that they use on like their NC 700. That's and maybe even the CB 500 X. I think it's a very similar design. I'm not sure if I said it the first time I saw that. When we first talked about it, I was looking at it and I one of the thoughts I had was this looks like the NC seven fifties.

 00;20;19;00 - 00;20;46;00

I went to the gym once. Yeah. And like and that's all it talks about now. Yeah. And it just I feel like with adventure bikes, you know, there are technical machines, you know, there are, there are practicality over looks basically or a functionality overlooks a lot of the times because a lot of people might not think but there are 1250 the GS bikes, the BMW, GS bikes.

 00;20;46;02 - 00;21;05;00

Some people think they look very ugly because they're blocky and bulky and stuff. But that is the image that they've had for the past 40 years. It's trends. Yeah, they've been running with it and it's a very recognizable image. Yeah. And like that's the, that's the recognizable image. Right. And like we, we jumped to the Transvaal hasn't been around for a long time now.

 00;21;05;01 - 00;21;23;12

That's true. I like the looks of the old Trans Alps. I like the looks too. I feel like they fit the time period much better. They kind of look a little bit something. They're a little bland looking, but at least they kind of work for, you know, they have that retro taste to them, you know, and the more square head.

 00;21;23;15 - 00;21;44;01

And for me, it just feels like with what I'm looking at, yeah, it looks like an NC 1750, more like the I've just never been a fan of those triangular beaks I guess. Yeah. On Sundays Honda bikes personally. And I just think like for like the heritage of the bike and everything, to me it still looks like a city bike, you know.

 00;21;44;04 - 00;22;02;10

But again, I don't want to be too mean to it or unfair because like I said, this would be one of my friends. He's not very tall. Yeah. From my I can't find my note that I had for like the seat height for it, but it seems approachable for everybody. So I think like, that's like a huge win for it.

 00;22;02;13 - 00;22;20;19

Oh, yeah. I just my, my gripe as a consumer is that I just wish they could have done something different. Like, even like. And I can get into this later. But Hondas lately seems to just be kind of like putting spare parts together to make new bikes. In terms of esthetics. They just engines are beautiful. They run great.

 00;22;20;19 - 00;22;36;07

They're wonderful tech wise, they're wonderful bikes. It's just the looks. And that kind of goes the same for the Hornet. So it's not the bike, not really a topic, but it just looks kind of me. And I remember like the all this because I've seen the old hornets around and stuff like they were like a full on sports, but they look cool.

 00;22;36;13 - 00;23;00;22

Like, you know, I've heard this from Sportbike riders that like, you know, like Honda's are they're sleek machines. I it looks fast to me, you know, and like, it looked good. It looks like it belonged. It looked like it owned the name Hornet. Yeah. Hornets. Oh, Hornet. That sounds fast. Yeah, it's like that's an F-18 Hornet, you know, So, like, so to see it kind of just have this bland look.

 00;23;00;24 - 00;23;26;20

Yeah, it's kind of like a kind of a big letdown. And, you know, someone out there, if you're watching this, you might think it's a good looking bike. And, you know, if you want to get into a TV riding, go for it, because spec wise, it is a great bike. And I'm sure if you're like knowing Honda's reputation for being reliable and well-performing, it's going to perform great will probably outlast either of our bikes, you know, I mean honestly, because it's a Honda.

 00;23;26;20 - 00;23;50;20

Yeah. So like, but look, Sly's not my favorite. No me there is just I wish that they and this is just me like, you know, throwing pennies in a well, but then they could have just like they could use a headlight or a variant of them like the Africa twin. Yeah. Or hell, even like the cutting in that round headlight from the rebels the new rebels is for.

 00;23;50;20 - 00;24;20;21

Yeah. It's. Yeah. Just something to kind of give it a more distinct look, a distinct visual character to, to differentiate it from like other ATV bikes and stuff. So people look at it and it's instantly recognizable just like the tannery, you know. Yeah. See that? It's got the square quarter lead. Yeah. And I guess maybe that's why people like that, because they didn't want to look too much like maybe, but like it, but they could have come up with a new that kind of at least or something that still fits in that house and just looks a little bit better.

 00;24;20;21 - 00;24;39;07

And I know how like very flat front. Yeah. Like, and I know how like armchair quarterback that sounds they hear some cheers but like, you know because I don't know anything about I'm not a designer. I don't know like I just I just wish that they had again, this is as a consumer, I wish they had just done something that looks different from the 9750 The Hornet.

 00;24;39;07 - 00;24;58;00

Yeah, the kind kind of like the CB 500 X And then also there's like, I think it's there when our street bikes, like the 500 F I think I could be wrong on that one. It's one of the 500 like Yeah. It's not it. Yeah. But Honda definitely has had much better designs with both their street and ADT bikes.

 00;24;58;00 - 00;25;23;22

Just look at the Africa twin. It's a very distinguished look. It looks mean. It's got its own like look to it and on their street bikes you know they got the the CB or the C.F. like 650 or Oh the CD 650. Ah yeah. One of their the naked sports bikes this round headlight beautiful exhaust. Oh so guys beautiful Honda that can make some very good looking bikes even even the gold length gold wings is this.

 00;25;23;24 - 00;25;41;18

Yeah, that is like a staple. Oh, I was going to say like a little bikes. Yeah. Look, you know, we all know the bronze and legs. Yeah, they're so distinguished, but it's always going to see the Hornet. I feel they're just going to go like, I don't. I don't know, unless they know what they're looking for. Yeah, it doesn't look like anything really special.

 00;25;41;19 - 00;26;06;03

And actually, not to like to derail that conversation, but that did remind me of one thing with the Hornet, because it's the exact same engine. And when I've been reading on it is that they have made no tunes in the. So this is a street engine or a motor engine in a street bike. And from what I've been able to read and I will I will form a sort of I'm wrong, but I have not seen anything about them having any sort of different tuning to the engine.

 00;26;06;03 - 00;26;25;07

So like and just going to do off road, as we've learned, you know, it's a lot nicer to have like that low ends tore it down will have that power down low for you. And that is subject to change. However, because this was just announced in Europe and I'm pretty sure it's going to come to the U.S. because I feel like it has still.

 00;26;25;08 - 00;26;44;16

Yeah, but they haven't announced U.S. pricing or anything like that or what the U.S. spec might be, So it might be a little bit different. One. Yeah, the information everywhere in the seeing, but it's most likely going to be like close enough or very similar and again, I'm not saying I'm I'm not saying that that is the case, but I was just from what I've been able to find.

 00;26;44;20 - 00;27;06;16

Yeah, I have gotten no other information like for like the power displacement. Yeah. And some people online have said like, oh like they will, they haven't, you know, it just doesn't again, I haven't ridden the horn. I don't know if it is a wiley bike or not. Like, is that a fast forward bike. I don't know. No. The only thing that's going to be probably a very linear straight line response, which isn't a bad thing.

 00;27;06;17 - 00;27;29;13

No one is very predictable and. Right. But it's not like I'd be taking this bike myself, like up any oak crazy hill. Yeah. Okay. So now the comparison to another. Should we move on? Yeah. Yeah. I was just going to say, like, I think because I haven't really, haven't looked too much into this new 800. These. Yeah. This is the 800 D it's the V strung.

 00;27;29;16 - 00;27;53;28

Oh. Okay. So is the beast from Beast from your distributor, right? Yeah. So Suzuki also announced the new ADT Bike, so they had their V strap. Was it the 656 on it? Basically. So they have the recent like 1200 thousand or 1100. So they're big ADT bike and now they also announced something new for the Midway ATV market and Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

 00;27;54;05 - 00;28;21;11

And it's the Suzuki 800 D which is, you know, around 800 cc, give or take a few because they always round up. Yeah. And this came out, this was announced the same day as the trans op, so it gave us a very good perspective on how two different bikes can or two different ATV bikes, midway ATV bikes from two different manufacturers and how similar and different they can be.

 00;28;21;13 - 00;28;54;15

So let's compare the specs. Yes, I'm just trying to pull up some of those that I had here. So the so what I have like ready to go off of the D the A180 that it's it's sitting at an 82 horsepower and they also have a brand new engine. Yeah. For the 776 ccs go 80 horsepower and it's you know it's got the 21 inch wheel up front similar suspension travel and yeah.

 00;28;54;18 - 00;29;22;09

Also all the different kinds of electronics and things like that. They seem to be like a neck and neck for each other. Yeah. I didn't again, I meant to put like I don't know how much reading you done into this one, but in terms of specs or not specs but like creature comforts, rider AIDS, things like that. But since we were just talking about looks that bike and I've never been on a Suzuki in my life, you know, but that bike looks a lot better.

 00;29;22;11 - 00;29;48;11

It turns out it does look a lot better. And I have a picture of that as well. There's a two pictures are simple to find before you scramble this together. And this is the V strum. So we could see and I feel like it's still not like the prettiest looking bike out there, but it's distinguished. It has its own look to it that I think works for the Suzuki brand in their current design image with like some of their other more touring bikes.

 00;29;48;13 - 00;30;05;29

Yeah. And like, just so you mentioned like with your bike or like the BMW is it has like some rugged lines to it. It which I really like about it. Yeah, I like it. It looks rugged. It looks like it's, you know, it can tackle like an obstacle and Yeah, walk up walk away with a few scratches but you know, still keep going.

 00;30;05;29 - 00;30;29;07

Yeah. Yeah. And I personally really like I do like, like this, like kind of that vertical headlight and stuff. I think it looks, I think it looks really nice and compared to the trans LB Yeah, Yeah. It's much better. Yeah. And as having owned a Honda, I've never owned a Suzuki. I can't weigh into it. I just don't know, like in terms of like, are they as reliable or not?

 00;30;29;07 - 00;30;52;07

You know? And I would probably say like, I don't know, I feel like Honda is very hard, like sits a very high bar. But yeah, I think, you know, for most Japanese manufacturers you can expect fairly good reliability, especially compared to and that's what their European and American counterparts. Yeah, we don't buy American. So no I think it looks really good.

 00;30;52;09 - 00;31;17;27

And if it came down to it, like once we get like price points, you know, and like a little bit more information on them and even taking to like the seat height for like styling for more the vertically challenged friends I have to right. Why why wouldn't somebody you know just say well that obviously looks are subjective. Yes.

 00;31;18;05 - 00;31;39;15

But let's say they're in the same price point and say they're like $1,000 hypothetically from each other. Yeah. Honda, Suzuki, I a person would go for the Suzuki just purely based off the looks. Yeah. Like if I was shopping between those two bikes. I don't know. I just. I don't think I could get over the looks of the trans options just being kind of bland because the Suzuki has.

 00;31;39;17 - 00;32;00;08

Yeah. A much more distinguished electricity to. Yeah. And again this is like in my mind it's just like I would test riding the Suzuki first if assuming like they had the same creature comforts. Right. Yeah. All that stuff. I think like just from what information that we have so far on this thing, I would the thought would tip the balance if I was if looks weren't involved.

 00;32;00;13 - 00;32;25;27

Yeah. Tubeless a tube tires for like for the for what I have in mind since the bike for makes sense so and neither me or you do any super crazy offroad riding and so we're pretty vanilla. Yeah. So our off roading, our off road rides involve this like hitting loose dirt fire roads here and there and stuff. No crazy crawling up a mountain or.

 00;32;25;27 - 00;32;45;16

Yeah, jumping a bike over, you know, random obstacles or anything like that. Yeah. Because I do not have the energy for that most of the time. So my bike's expensive and I don't want to break it and it's already got a scratch on it because I dropped it earlier this year. Yeah, it's I know you. Some of that is something the tax and like in my mind I'm like, Oh shit, this guy just had a wreck.

 00;32;45;16 - 00;33;00;19

Yeah. And like, you never know. It's like a little tip. Yeah. And you saw the video. You even saw the video and just see, like, bike decided to take a nap and scratch of gas tank, which is the only thing I could not fix easily. And fortunately, but that's okay. It happens. Yeah, but that's like. And that would be the thing too.

 00;33;00;19 - 00;33;19;02

It seems like with and this isn't like a jab that Japanese bikes or anything like that, you know, it's just like if you drop them I don't necessarily feel as Yeah, same if I would have dropped my like CB 500 when I had it, It was sucked, sort of sucked, but I wouldn't feel nearly as bad as dropping the triumph's because so much cheaper.

 00;33;19;02 - 00;33;33;24

Yeah. If you bust a fairing on like, you know, like it. I think last time I looked like if I was still I needed a new tank on my bike. Like, that's like going to be anywhere from 800 to, like $1,000. So I don't know how much think for my bike would be, but the scratch are small enough that I'm not planning on replacing it.

 00;33;33;24 - 00;34;06;15

I'm just going to find something to like touch it up. Anyways, back to. Yeah, that was back to the midway. The two midway to announce the spikes is. Yeah, the trans up and the newbies from 800 you know very similar spec wise, very, very different look wise. Yeah. And me personally I feel like a bike is more than just like a utility for me because it's something that I only ride on weekends, you know, I don't, I don't really commute to work on.

 00;34;06;15 - 00;34;26;16

I don't use it for practical reasons. I use it for fun. And if I'm buying something for fun, I'm spending that much money on it. I want it to look good and I only want it to like, functional, but I want it to look good. I want to like, you know, turn the light on in the garage and looking at it being like, Yeah, I think it looks cool.

 00;34;26;19 - 00;34;49;21

And the the trans options doesn't do it for me. Yeah. And that's just that I'm in, I'm in agreement. It's just the, it just seems like they, they had an opportunity to go big and they just didn't Yeah they, they went like this It's this work which is you know it probably will I would say Honda mostly knows what they're doing.

 00;34;49;21 - 00;35;06;03

I think it was so-so. Well I think they'll perform well. It just won't work. Well yeah it it just kind of like maybe maybe people will come out and maybe some companies will come out some cool models and stuff to put on and to switch things up. Yeah. And you got to give it a little bit more of a rugged character.

 00;35;06;03 - 00;35;31;05

But yeah, as a stock, it's just, it's just kind of neat. Yeah. And for like this mid weight heavy bike actually. Do you saw the picture of the of the monster. Yeah. The Bystrom Yep. Right. That does that Vanguard's I can't the look like it's a little hard to tell but I have the website pulled up here so can look at the gallery real quick and so this looks like I have ham guards but they're kind of like the cheap plasticky ones.

 00;35;31;05 - 00;35;55;25

They probably won't protect your standard, protect your hand in the fall. So any something you replace with. Yeah. Some bark busters or something like that. The reason I ask is currently there are no standard hand guards available for the trend, though. Oh really. And yeah, again, we're talking midway, ATV, bike. I feel like maybe I'm spoiled with hand guards, but I just I again, without the U.S. spec will have them.

 00;35;56;02 - 00;36;18;01

I hope so. No I feel yeah even even if they're not like true hand guards with like of the metal but just the metal brace. But even plastic hand guards just makes such a big difference for the wind, especially if you're riding in colder weather. Yeah. Because my, my CB 500 did not have hand guards and boy, did that.

 00;36;18;04 - 00;36;43;23

That did not help in cold weather. No, my tiger A900 does have hand guards and heated grips and heated grips is the big feature that I was looking for when I was shopping for a new bike. That cruise control. And it makes such a big difference because I because I rode through like 40 mid 40 degree temperature weather in my summer gloves with the heated grips on and my fingers didn't and go numb.

 00;36;43;25 - 00;37;02;25

That was Colorado, wasn't it? I was in between price and oh, price in Provo, that passage in Utah. And yeah, I got very cold and I did not bring my winter gloves because I expected to get back cold them towards the end of May. But it did. And I was really thankful that I had a hand guard to keep the wind off my hands and heater grips.

 00;37;02;25 - 00;37;24;12

So well, you just don't know or Yeah, like you just don't know what's going to happen on long trips, you know, like, and I'm just looking at some of these like the I just look at some like the notes and pictures here. Like, you just don't know what's going to happen. Like awful weather like that. Yeah, like because I was also in summer gloves and I had heated grips and all that and that was it saved me.

 00;37;24;12 - 00;37;46;14

But it was still uncomfortable. It was still uncomfortable, but it was like, you won't lose your fingers, don't start going numb and yeah, affect your Yeah. So control of the bike, that's the important thing. Yeah. We did have to stop like once I think to So can I hold my hands near my engine. I have to adjust my cuffs because I kept getting cold air flowing up there but the V strung like I have more pictures pulled up here.

 00;37;46;16 - 00;38;07;24

Oh, yeah. So, like, it's a it's a very good looking bike. It has a nice profile. It's got the big ATV, big, which I personally like. Some people might not. Yeah. I think both of them. The only the big downside to both of us look at the exhaust and I've heard this and I kind of read about this on Reddit and stuff people are saying it's a very low slung exhaust for an ATV bike on.

 00;38;07;24 - 00;38;23;21

Yeah, yeah. The Ostrom on the Ostrom and the trans op. I think a actually, yeah, kind of fairly low to the ground. You saw the picture of the trans up to I think I don't know if it has the exact site on there Let's take that off and see because I mean yep I mean yeah it's pretty low as well.

 00;38;23;21 - 00;38;45;09

I don't if you can compare the two for people if they're for the or Yeah. Those who aren't audio listeners. Oops. And that's us. That's us. So that probably recorded. Yeah. There we go. We'll put that over your face So it's well you can only see on that side you can't really see they both look kind of low.

 00;38;45;12 - 00;39;13;19

Yeah. If I'm being honest I think both of us look a little low which I don't know, could be an issue. But again, I don't know what's going on with like the V Strong. But one thing available, like, immediately for information is that there is a an engine something a guard, some okay for bailable for the trans outs like you know, they're going to making it that's very good and halogen and it has a pretty good collection of like accessories and stuff for their bikes But look at this close up of the headlight.

 00;39;13;20 - 00;39;42;09

Yes it's so much better Looks a lot better. It looks like maybe it's not like beautiful or, you know, it's it's not in, say, like not iconic or iconic, but like it it's distinct. It's yeah, it's distinct. Whereas like the Trans Alps looks are distinct. But not for not, not for the reasons you want. Like so so but those are the bikes and those are the two bikes that we really wanted to talk about, mainly the trans because we've been waiting for.

 00;39;42;10 - 00;40;00;10

We had words and middleweight Honda ATV for a while and they came out with one and looks like that was just kind of what could have been disappointing, what could have been cause I looked at the old translations like, yeah, like those, those, those looks never they wouldn't have kept to today's like, yeah, synthetics or standards and stuff.

 00;40;00;10 - 00;40;30;15

But I think that at the very least they could have like paid some sort of homage to. Yeah. Some kind of like Yeah I agree. Yeah. I tell it to the old trans out days, you know I'm like yeah I was, I think if I remember right that was also a two had a two headlight bike if I'm or maybe thinking back to the old the old but I think I probably am I think the trans I've just had like a square like right here.

 00;40;30;16 - 00;40;48;07

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like a square light in the middle. I think maybe some of the newer models had like a round one as well on the fly. No, you're right. I was. I was. I still think it was like, much more distinct than and they could have done something like that. Just basically take the old like the similar look as the old had labor modernize it, put sandwiches and stuff in there yourself.

 00;40;48;08 - 00;41;06;29

And if they saw this thing and if Honda's moving forward, it's like the triangle because nose thing, if that's what they really wanted. Like I think they kind of updated that a little bit better. I think so too. And going back to my like CD 500 X, I remember the headlight that it had on it, which I think is very similar to the one the trans I'll pass.

 00;41;07;01 - 00;41;27;08

It is not a bright headlight. No that thing was then I had to turn my brakes on was pretty much most of the time in the this is this is conjecture but I think they updated the headlight on like the 2022 models for a year. But for the CB 500 X, okay. Because they have those gold forks on upside down, forks on those.

 00;41;27;09 - 00;41;43;02

So I think they did. They actually have an LED strip. Oh yeah, I think you're right. It does have the lady strip instead of just a Yeah. Little lights on the side. So hopefully it's, it's much brighter than the, than the old one. Yeah. When I, when I got my trials and I turn on, I hope I was just like blank.

 00;41;43;08 - 00;42;00;07

This thing is like the sun. I don't even need to use the brakes on this because it just lights up the road unless it's like super dark. And I just have the extra light and it's a great headlight and so hopefully I can improve the headlights. So yeah, so I guess we'll just I guess we just have to wait and see to back out on the meantime.

 00;42;00;07 - 00;42;18;26

Like, I won't be. I, I'd tell my friends who are looking to ride like, hey, like, you know, check out the this room and check out the trends. Yeah, you're like one you like you don't want to spend so much money. I didn't either. No. You know, like they didn't want drop 16, whatever. Because that's a especially if it's a lot.

 00;42;18;28 - 00;42;41;15

Yeah. Yeah. That's a lot. And motorcycling is expensive like that conversation's been had a thousand times by every writer. So we'll make that a topic for the. Yeah. You know, it's like for selling like, you know if you're in your thirties or you're a responsible adult, you're not going to be an idiot, you know, like full send of Hayabusa or, you know, or the V-twin or not.

 00;42;41;19 - 00;43;04;02

V-twin Panigale. Yeah, you know, if you're whatever it is, like if you could easily pull off a 907 50 Oh yeah. I think if you're a responsible person I think, I think you could pull off pretty much any size bike from the start. As long as one you can afford it, you have the money to pay for and to know that you're responsible enough.

 00;43;04;10 - 00;43;19;09

Yeah, you Can like grow into that power. And that's which is kind of nice because then you might not be so tempted to buy a new bike. Right. You know, a year later, I mean, like, yeah, eight months. I had my first bike eight months and had like, you did a lot better than me. I mean, almost two years.

 00;43;19;09 - 00;43;33;20

Yeah, Yeah, I had my bike eight months. I paid it off in six. I had a two month window, I had a bike and then I found the scrambler mat price. I could. Yeah, I could swing. I mean, if it was if I was in your shoes, I probably would buy that too, because you got a great deal.

 00;43;33;20 - 00;44;00;23

I really did. That was insane. But no, they. And maybe we didn't talk about this. I just. I just thought of something. The. It depends where you live. Like, you know, if we. We live in the Rockies. Yeah, we have that. We have the option to do all sorts of riding if you wanted to. That's true now. And for the friends that I have here who want to ride, you know, it's there five, six or so, you know, they they can't hop on a scrambler or or I mean, they can people.

 00;44;00;23 - 00;44;18;09

Yeah. It's just a little bit harder if you're a brand new, right? Yeah. Yeah. Anyone? It doesn't matter your height. Anyone can ride an oversize bike they want. Yeah, but if you're a brand new rider, the intimidation is there, especially for a large bike. Very much so. So I think was a mid weight thing. And I think that's why I was saying to my friend like, hey, like maybe look at the trends out, maybe look at the room.

 00;44;18;09 - 00;44;38;08

Yeah, But I think like if I haven't asked him, I'm not trying to influence him one way or the other, you know. Yeah, but to say you can just go check out these bikes, I'm not going to say anything about looks. Exactly. But I think these be books bikes that you could have forever. Yeah. So that makes sense.

 00;44;38;10 - 00;44;55;07

I'm going to take one of them for it. Yeah. I think to kind of like, wrap things up, we can kind of touch on some of the other bikes that were announced and it wasn't just ATV bikes and stuff, but we both sort of knew we'd see it because we weren't sure when I saw it on the Internet well enough to go there.

 00;44;55;09 - 00;45;17;10

But the Royal two showed the meteor. Oh 650 That's right, yeah. So they had like a new color for and stuff like that. And I think that's like a beautiful looking classic, looking more cycle. Yeah. So that was really nice set up for it really quick. But yeah, I keep Ducati Desert X they announce their new like their new lighter in color and stuff.

 00;45;17;10 - 00;45;36;24

It's less of a reddish looking one and we were just happy there. So yeah, we're just at the car dealership. The other day looking at those in person. And I got to say, those are that's how you do a distinct looking ATV bike. Yeah, they look very good. They look very good. Yeah. I love just the to see the dual headlight setup and stuff like that.

 00;45;36;24 - 00;45;56;21

They look, they look very raw yet then you had a few bucks from like I think Aprilia Prowler they had like their Tuareg. 650, which I tried that. Oh my gosh. Yeah. We don't even talk about the six one or not because we're just focused on the two like cheery ATV bikes. I wonder how much they're going to be.

 00;45;56;21 - 00;46;15;26

Maybe we should bring that up next time. I think we should. Yeah. We'll touch on it next time. But yeah, so that's another like Medway ATV bike and that's a whole discussion because now we're looking at another European brand and I'm not going to open the door of it in liability. Yes, but dealer network in general, you know.

 00;46;15;27 - 00;46;40;17

Yeah. Japanese bikes are known more for their reliability. And not only that, but you have cheaper parts, more access, more dealerships and things like that in general for Japanese bikes versus European ones. So that kind of saves a lot of money down the road. So yeah, I'm sure like, you know, I think we live in an area where maybe our European market is a little bit anorexic in the sense of like we don't have as much as we would like if we're on the West Coast or back east.

 00;46;40;17 - 00;46;59;21

So there's like 500 dealerships around there. There's only one trans one there, There's one entire state. Yeah. So it just kind of depends bilaterally. Had their ATV bike, which is I forgot about the tour. It does look pretty good. It kind of reminds me a little bit of the African twin because it's got dual headlight like setup as well.

 00;46;59;21 - 00;47;21;16

It kind of a mean cowl. Yeah, it did. I remember when that was when was first announced, like months ago or however long ago was I saw a bike. That's a bike to keep an eye on for the rider. It's all 650, so it's not going to be as big as the the trans ALP or the 800. But yeah, and it probably like I don't even know where you can buy them in due time.

 00;47;21;20 - 00;47;44;22

That's the other issue. I see them around. People are getting them somewhere. I mean they seem like there's sport bikes on them. Yeah, I think, I don't think they have too many other Yeah. ADT bikes and things. So basically that's, that's about it. And I mean there a few other like updates and stuff too like different colors of different features but they don't have quite the full.

 00;47;44;24 - 00;48;10;04

Yeah. We haven't, I don't know what they have so pair it all for the next time we'll be more prepared. Yeah. So for this I was just so focused on like being on my disappointment in the the trans. Yeah. So it was a little bit of a bummer so so it's been nice to see. So I have a list of all the new stuff so yeah full of the trans out.

 00;48;10;06 - 00;48;30;07

Yeah. Yeah. We've covered that pretty extensively. I think the V strong me D that's the other one. So Benelli Oh yeah. Oh, I didn't know they made it, so they made an ad buy. Is it easy to put that up? Because that's like a little think they'll take me? Okay. Yeah, well, we'll save it for next time. It looks bigger, too.

 00;48;30;11 - 00;48;51;15

Yeah, I don't think so. It's an 800. It's Italian Chinese brand. So is that and the Agusta. So we have a lot more to talk about, though, in this thing. So I think this is a good way to first like start out of like, yeah, here's a trans out. These are going to be like somewhat affordable. Yeah. Midway Bikes.

 00;48;51;15 - 00;49;09;09

And I don't even know how many of these are going to make it to the states. And this is definitely not as Yeah, I don't think this would be considered a middleweight because it is a 931 CC that makes over two or 100 horsepower. So yeah, it's not your starter bike. No, it was pretty tall too, which we can have.

 00;49;09;11 - 00;49;33;01

Yeah. Yeah. Another Benelli and there isn't a August I think, but maybe I'll, maybe I'm going to stick to what they like or not they vary with the and the Agusta maybe that's what I was thinking of instead of that it's really a Taurus. I didn't even look into any of those. So yeah, that was. But those are the those are those are the other bikes that are kind of announced there.

 00;49;33;01 - 00;49;59;22

But we kind of wanted to focus on the two cheaper, more accessible category of the Midway ATV bikes. Yeah. And who knows, maybe that the battery would be maybe that is in a lower price point. Maybe. I don't know. Yes. Well, to double check real quick, because in my mind, it seems like if if somebody was going to come to me and say, hey, I have I want to get an ATV, but I want a bike that can do it all.

 00;49;59;24 - 00;50;18;21

Yeah. You know, I'm like, and I don't want to spend again. We're so it's all relative to our existence. So I actually don't know if this was announced. I think it was announced. I think it was a while ago. I just kind of forgot about it. But that looks good. So you make a good look. Yeah, that's a good looking motorcycle.

 00;50;18;23 - 00;50;41;24

So the one I was thinking this was the semi Agusta. Okay, so not the Aprilia, but then the the last round headlights and very distinct look to it. So it's a scratch to a parallel. Yeah. But then I guess like just looking at it, it looks like it's going to be a much more expensive bike than any of the If it's a 900 like it's going to be like, yeah, you're looking at it kind of sounds almost unfair.

 00;50;41;27 - 00;51;06;27

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, compare that to like a 767 60 CC bike. I was thinking those bikes. Yeah, they're just going to be like, you know, this is like a at a approachable price point. Yeah, I feel like problem with like recommending a ten or a 700 is like to like. So again back to the height issue that is a tall very tall size, you know like and not that they can't do it but I would I would be it's a little more intimidating.

 00;51;06;27 - 00;51;30;21

I'm very empathetic toward like being intimidated as a new rider. Yeah, yeah. Give me a Honda 500. Rebel scared me. Yeah. Yeah. Starting out. You know, so much easier to start on. Like a bit of a smaller bike they can and Yeah. And you know, and you are going to, like, have your moments like where you misjudge your throttle input or your brake input and, you know, like it's better to have those experiences like on a more tame bike.

 00;51;30;23 - 00;51;48;00

Exactly. And You're right. You're starting out on a larger one is going to have to face that. So if they have like something that's approachable that I think that would be just in their benefit. But in a sense, I'm not here to talk for people's lives. That's just yes, I've had this in getting friend's writing suite. So yeah, it's really nice.

 00;51;48;00 - 00;52;05;11

And I think that's a good point to stop. I think I love word vomit, so will publish this and see how it goes and yeah, well we'll do better next time. I'll be a little bit more prepared. Yeah. We need to do an outro. It's like I don't know if I don't have anything for dinner. Our names today.

 00;52;05;11 - 00;52;25;13

No, I don't think so. Okay, I'm Glove. Yes, this is Mitch. Mitch? Yeah, this is our first podcast and this is our first podcast and we'll see if we do more and see how it goes. Yeah. Anyway, so thank you so much for listening and or watching if you're on YouTube. Okay, bye.
