State School Teachers' Union of WA

In this episode of Western Teacher Live we're talking about the WA State of our Schools (WA SOS) survey.

This survey is designed to provide feedback on a range of current issues and challenges faced by staff in WA public schools.

The results will feed into the current review into public education and be used as evidence to support negotiations for the 2023 General Agreement and our calls for increased funding.

Topics covered include: Red tape, violence, professional development, teacher shortages, class sizes, school funding and support for staff.

The 2021 WA SOS survey raised important issues around workload and work related stress.

This survey will have slight variations to cater to different categories of educators from swimming teachers to school leaders.

Hear from Senior Vice President  Natalie Blewitt and Vice President Sharmila Nagar about how crucial the WA SOS survey is in gathering invaluable data from our educators.
