In this episode of Western Teacher Live, we're talking about how the State School Teachers’ Union of WA (SSTUWA) welcomes Education Minister Tony Buti’s new 10-point plan to tackle school violence.
Hear from President Matt Jarman and SVP Natalie Blewitt about the Minister's 10 point plan to tackle violence in public schools.
It is especially important to note that schools experiencing high levels of violent behaviour will be offered targeted assistance under the plan.

Is violence more prevalent in schools these days or do we just see more of it because everyone's got a phone?
Action 1: Principals to suspend students who attack other students, start fights or share and promote violence
Action 2: Principals to automatically move to exclude any student who physically attacks school staff
Actions 4 & 5: Clear advice for principals, teachers and education assistants on authority and responsibility to take action & Provide training and support for school staff
Action 9 & 10: Continue a community conversation about violence in schools and online & Give young people a voice and let them identify actions they believe could address violence in the community
