SSTUWA for Yes: The Voice
Aug 29, 2023 Season 1 Episode 7
State School Teachers' Union of WA

In this week’s episode of Western Teacher Live we’re talking about the upcoming Australian referendum, otherwise known as the Voice to Parliament.

Hear from SSTUWA Vice President Sharmila Nagar on what a referendum is and why a Voice enshrined in our constitution could make a practical difference to education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

This Voice is a straightforward, practical update to ensure that Indigenous Australians are listened to when Parliament discusses policies affecting their communities.

By writing Yes on your ballot paper, you support recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our Constitution through a Voice.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are the oldest living culture on this planet with 65,000 years of continuous cultural connection to this great land.

Let's vote Yes for recognition, listening and better results this year.
