Heidi Hooper
Heidi Hooper is a sculptor who graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University and earned her MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art, where she also taught. After cancer required the removal of much of her right arm muscle, she shifted away from metalsmithing and began working in unconventional materials, ultimately discovering dryer lint as her primary medium. Using only undyed, carefully sorted lint—much of it sent by supporters from around the country—Hooper creates work that has been featured in museums worldwide, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, and major media outlets. Consumer Reports dubbed her “The Andy Warhol of Dryer Lint.”
