Ronnie Ann Ryan (01:59)
my gosh, I hope I can live up to that. Yikes.

Shannon Grissom (02:07)
I've been listening to your podcast and I love your emails and you're constantly sending out great ⁓ content. you. so inspirational and it's very helpful. So I think you already have lived up

Ronnie Ann Ryan (02:22)
to it. Okay, well thank you. That's very nice. ⁓

Shannon Grissom (02:25)
So, now as far as intuition,

I know I didn't really recognize mine until later on. Did you always know you were intuitive? Tell me a little bit about your background there.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (02:38)
So I'm going to say when I was like in junior high, we had 1, you know how girls used to have sleepover parties? Yeah. And so 1 night there was some poor girl who had passed away. I don't remember what happened to her and people wanted to know if we could do a seance. And I said, well, I'll try talking to her. I don't know where that came from. So, um, so I did it and then I was all freaked out after and who knows what I was really doing, you know, and then we just parked that and put that away for a long time.

So I really started working on my intuition in a big way in my 20s. So no, I wasn't necessarily tapped in ⁓ through the early years at all. I mean, I might have been and didn't know it versus really working on it and going, hey, I'm psychic. No, it wasn't like that.

Shannon Grissom (03:28)
Did

you have a significant event that flipped that switch and got you really on that psychic path?

Ronnie Ann Ryan (03:36)
Well, you know what's so interesting is I find that today people who want to open to their intuition can do it so easily because the energy has changed so much. For me, I worked at it very hard for seven years in my twenties. And then I took, so I was working on my intuition. I was using it. And then I took Reiki 1 and they say there's a 21 day period after taking

the attunement, the Ricky 1 attunement that things can change for you. So at the end of that 21 days, that's when I started to channel where I would speak what they would say. Now it's not a trance because I'm still aware. So sometimes people would come through with these accents and I'd be like, get lost. No, I'm not doing it. Nope, not doing you. Move on. Next. So ⁓ I worked at it really hard and I think it's because I had a lot of ⁓

Shannon Grissom (04:25)
You

Ronnie Ann Ryan (04:34)
past lives where there were issues with this kind of thing, with magic and whatever. So I probably made some kind of bargain with myself that I had to break through. That's what I think.

Shannon Grissom (04:47)
Well, looks like you really did. Now you've written six books.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (04:51)
In fairness, my books were about dating.

Shannon Grissom (04:54)
⁓ Well, it's still creative.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (04:57)
It is. So my life path, it took me, I did all kinds of things. had an incredible business career and I worked in advertising. Then I went to got an MBA and then I worked in corporate for a while and then I did a lot of marketing consulting. And so then what happened was I did all those things and forgot to find a partner and I really wanted to be married. So

I decided I had to figure this out and when I started dating in a serious manner, it was late 90s. the internet wasn't big then, you know, the apps and stuff, and there wasn't that much written about dating. So I took everything I learned about the law of attraction and I combined it with my intuition and I created a lot of, we'll call it processes or whatever to help me attract

get past my blocks and move forward. And so I dated 30 men in 15 months to meet the man I'm still married to. Wow. Yeah, it was a lot. So yeah, I dated 30 different men until I met my husband and it took a while for that to gel. But that's what in time, that's what all most of those books were about were how I found the right man Manifesting Mr. Right and then other things that came after. So ⁓ but yeah.

that writing a book is quite a process.

Shannon Grissom (06:27)
It really is. how did your intuition or tapping into that help you with the writing?

Ronnie Ann Ryan (06:37)
You know, that's such an interesting question. think that over time, you know, like the first book took me three years to write because I put it away and then I redid the whole thing. So, uh, you know, it really didn't take three years. It just was the timeframe from when I started to when I finished. But over time I got better at identifying what do I want to say, putting it in order. So, you know, you get better the more you do. So did my intuition help? I'm going to say yes, because

Sometimes there's no other way to make a decision because you can get into paralysis where if you're really looking at everything and trying to figure out the pros and the cons and all the mental, intellectual stuff, sometimes it just doesn't give you an answer.

Shannon Grissom (07:27)
Well, you've got a great download on how to get yes or no answers. So I will definitely put that in the show links. Can you give us a tool from that download that you use the most often to help you get a yes or no answer?

Ronnie Ann Ryan (07:42)
All

right, so there's really only one process in that. That's why my whole thing is simplicity. So in that free audio program, there's just one process, but I'll tell you how I used it in one example. So my husband, we were dating and it had been six months. I foolishly told him that I loved him. And before he told me, I felt that was foolish because he didn't say it. So that was in at Thanksgiving.

And then Christmas went by and then my birthday was in January went by and then Valentine's Day and I'm like, I'm like, I got to get rid of this guy because if he can't tell me he loves me after, I don't know, eight months of dating, I don't want him. What am I doing with him? You know? So I told him, I said, if you can tell me where we're going, if we have a future, if you can stay, I will stay, we'll figure this out. And he was like, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, and I'm like, you know.

Take some time and think about it. So I had to go on a business trip and then I had to visit my parents. So I was gonna be gone for two weeks. And so he convinced me, he called me and he convinced me to see him when I got back. And I'm like, okay. So I asked, I said to the universe, I can't make this decision anymore. Like, should I stay, should I go? It was awful. You know, when you get into that place where you don't know what to do and you're going in circles and you're miserable. I said, I can't do this anymore. So.

the universe, you have to give me a sign. And what I did was I specifically asked for what the sign was. So I said, I want to see a bluebird. Don't ask me how I picked these things. Just the first thing that comes into my head. And that's what will get explained. The first thing, I want to see a bluebird, but I knew I was going to Florida and there weren't going to be any blue jays. So I thought make it a little harder.

I have to see it within two weeks now over time I got a lot smarter and I never waited more than 24 hours again because That's just more torture, right? So on the last day of my visit to my parents I'm looking out the window and it's Florida and I see this Gigantic bird. I've never seen I mean it looks prehistoric. It's so huge. I never saw anything like it. I'm like dad and it's gray It's a big gray bird dad. What the heck is that bird?

Shannon Grissom (09:39)
Yeah

Ronnie Ann Ryan (09:59)
And he said, that's a blue hair. And I'm like,

Shannon Grissom (10:04)
Talk about a big sign.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (10:06)
Very, very big. So I thought, all right, I'll give him a little more time. And really, that was the advice that my father gave me anyway. He goes, you're already over 40. What's another couple of months? And I'm like, I don't know. So anyway, one of the prerequisites for this kind of work is if you ask the universe for a sign, then you have to promise yourself you will follow through because you can't ask for answers and then reject them.

You have to take, I mean, you can do whatever you want. Of course you have free will. But it might interfere with future answers if you don't follow through on what's for your highest good. Cause that's what you're really asking for, right? Now, sometimes you get an answer and you rail against it right away. I guess that tells you something too, because then you know that's not the right answer. So I guess that could happen too sometimes. That's not what's ever happened to me. I always get an answer.

and then I move on it. ⁓ that's why I created, because like I said, I can't take all these processes. Like sometimes I see people and they'll have 12 steps to blah, blah. I'm like, no way. Like you can barely talk to me past three steps. You know, I laugh when I see some of these incredible Instagram things and they'll have six ways to do whatever in a minute. I can't cope, you know? So I like to just simplify as much as possible.

And I think that helps with your intuition too, honestly.

Shannon Grissom (11:36)
It does. It really does. So you're always writing blogs, you're creating this podcast, and it doesn't matter what the content is, you are incredibly creative. Do you ever get blocked? Do you ever get stuck?

Ronnie Ann Ryan (11:53)
Wow, that's a really good question. Do I ever get stuck? I hate to answer that. No, and then get blocked. I will tell you, I don't want to jinx myself. But you know, spirit, I feel like this is where my intuition and spirit really helps me because I used to have tons of interviews all done in the can and I was like six or eight weeks out and.

You know, and then I stopped wanting to do so many interviews. And so on Monday I sit there and I'm like, okay, what's the topic this week? And something will come up. I'll see something on my wall that'll give me an idea or I'll do some automatic writing with my guys and I'll get an idea or I mean, they never tell me do this. That's not, some people get that kind of guidance, but I do not. But something always comes into my mind and I will credit them with.

inspiring me to go, ⁓

Shannon Grissom (12:47)
Yeah. Well, so when you talk about reigniting someone's magic, how do you help folks do that?

Ronnie Ann Ryan (12:58)
You know, and my belief is that first of all, everyone's intuitive. It's part of our DNA. So there are easy, fun ways to create things. So when people work with me, you know, I'll say, well, what do really want or whatever? And I say, well, what if you just focused on that? Just focus on this 1 piece, even if you just take one step towards

a solution or a magical shift or whatever. whenever I work with people, I really try to make it fun because that lifts the vibration. It lifts the energy. It lightens the load and it creates room for possibilities when you take some of that heavy energy away. And I find that makes some of the biggest difference. So if I can get them to laugh or see possibilities,

Because to me, magic, everyone also has access to magic. And I don't mean doing spell work. ⁓ That's like a whole different thing. But magic of synchronicities and guidance and coincidences and all kinds of things that you're like, how could that be? But it's around all the time. So the more you open to that, the more it comes to you. And that's also what I work with my clients on to help them.

see that magic is all around you, the possibilities exist and they're really, they're just all around you.

Shannon Grissom (14:31)
I see lot of parallels with magic and creativity. Yes. When I'm painting, I get all kinds of ideas. Sometimes I stop what I'm doing and write things down. It's like, oh, my God, I can do this or oh, this is really cool. And sometimes I'm not even aware. can't even tell you what happened during the painting session because I was out there wherever that place is. But it was really good. It didn't matter where I went. It was just really good.

I feel like the more I tap into creativity, I think creativity and magic, I just lost my earbud.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (15:09)
We're paired today. That's why we're just going to go with the flow. Yeah, we are.

Shannon Grissom (15:12)
You

So anyway, the more I tap into my creativity, the more the magic happens and the more that I'm paying attention to all the little cool things that happened during the day. I think for me, it's more of ⁓ if I'm not present, I don't realize all the cool stuff that's happening right now. So that really helps.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (15:44)
I would agree and I think that when you're in that creative process, you're really connected to source. ⁓

Shannon Grissom (15:53)
Yeah, so you're.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (15:55)
you're really in the flow and that means you are open and that's what all those things start flowing to you. And that, so I just did a podcast on how much imagination factors into your intuition because they're very closely intertwined. You know, not that you're making it all up, but it requires, sometimes it requires imagination to help spur the intuition. really, they're very interlocked.

Shannon Grissom (16:23)
They are, I know that when I find myself spinning about something and not in a good way, I'm like, okay, let's get creative and think about other possibilities that are a lot more fun. And so if you don't use your imagination, you might never get there and just get stuck in this Groundhog Day loop of nastiness. so, it's kind of like that Jim Carrey, somebody stop me.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (16:39)
Yeah.

This year, I had a friend who said to me, I am open to the possibility of positive outcomes. And that struck me so hard about what that really says and what opportunities get created by that when you're just

You don't have to know what the opportunities are and you don't have to know what the possibilities are, but you have to be open to them. And so if you can just state that I'm open to the possibility of positive outcomes for whatever it is that you're facing, then you can create the space for it. And that's another idea of what I mean by magic.

Shannon Grissom (17:41)
Yeah. Yeah. You know, I was thinking about that very thing with I'm experimenting a lot on some paintings that I'm doing. and so then 1 went from kind of cool to pretty muddy. And then in my head, I was thinking, what if there were no mistakes? What if it's all just building on each other and making something cool? And and even if

I never resolve it on this canvas. It's helping something else go somewhere else. And what if you could think of it that way instead of, well, that looks like hell, And you know what? It just really helps shift my focus. And so being self-aware about that is really important.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (18:33)
I agree. And in addition, you didn't give yourself a bunch of crap about it. So you didn't make yourself bad. So you didn't bring yourself down and you didn't close out possibilities. You kept yourself open. And that can sometimes be a tremendous challenge, but you handled that beautifully.

Shannon Grissom (18:52)
Thank you.

⁓ Well, let me shift a little bit back to the magic. How can we learn to recognize magic in our everyday lives? Do you have some tools and tips for that?

Ronnie Ann Ryan (19:11)
My biggest suggestion for that is crazy simple, which is when something occurs to you that you think, you know, that was kind of magical, write it down. some people say to me, Ronnie, I don't journal. You don't have to journal. I'm not asking you to write any pages. This is strictly bullet points or chicken scratch. You know, it doesn't matter how beautiful it is. You're not doing art journaling, right?

Shannon Grissom (19:32)
Okay.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (19:40)
You just have to keep track. Now why, what does that do for you? Your intuition and your magic, it's ethereal. It's not physical. You can't touch it. There's nothing to hold onto. There's no evidence until you write it down. And when you write it down, now you have physical concrete evidence that you can review.

So anytime you have something magical happen in your life, like, all right, I'll give you an example. Last week, this was such a nightmare. I was told to ⁓ log out of Google and log back in. Don't do that. I don't care. Do not. So, okay. So I did it because I was trying to download something that I still haven't dealt with, but that's another story. So anyway, so.

I logged out and never could log back in. And I called T-Mobile because I wasn't getting the two step verification message from Google and I wanted them to help me out. And so after a full two hours, I finally thought this must be part of letting go and I have to let go. This is not who I am by the way. I don't let go easily, but I did. I'm like, stop struggling. cannot fix this. This is a good place for surrender.

I just opened a new Google account. I couldn't even open one with my name. The whole thing was absurd. And so I moved on. The next day, the idea occurred to me, what if Google Chrome app is not the same as the Google app, which the woman from T-Mobile told me it was. So I Googled it. And in fact, they were separate. So once I downloaded the Google app, which I don't know why I need both, but

Then I got the message and I got everything back. Everything came back. Okay. So we can say, all right, the lesson was surrender. I let go, I gave up, I stuck. And so I didn't ruin my whole day. just ruined two hours. You know, two hours is better than 24. And then I just let it go. And the reward for me was the next day I figured out

Shannon Grissom (21:42)

Ronnie Ann Ryan (22:08)
how to resolve it and to me that was intensely magical. So that to me is an example of how you see magic in your life. But you can ask yourself questions. So you could get curious and say, all right, what am I learning from this? What do I need to know about this? Is there another way to look at this? What possibilities or solutions can I try? Do I know anyone I could call who could help me? You know, so you can.

ask yourself a series of questions. And then one of the best things to do in my mind is just put it down. I know when I'm writing sometimes for sure, the best thing to do is walk away because you can't like Albert Einstein said, you cannot create a solution from the same mindset that created the problem. You know, so you have to walk away. So to me, when you keep track of your intuition,

Shannon Grissom (22:59)
Yeah.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (23:06)
and you keep track of the magic in your life, then you have evidence and you can say, well, that worked out. Well, that worked out. Well, look at that. Well, look at that. Now, if you want to practice on super simple things that are not ⁓ risky, start with, I know what time it is? And guess the time and then look at your watch or guess the temperature and then check, or before you drive and use your GPS, decide which route you want to take and which 1 has less traffic and then check your GPS. These are

meaningless little no risk opportunities to practice and write it down. So you have evidence and you have a trail and you could go, look at that. I was accurate, accurate, accurate. Look, I'm getting there. I'm doing this, right? Because you won't have any other evidence any other way.

Shannon Grissom (23:54)
Yeah, it would help build faith in yourself once you see that track record.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (23:59)
Yep. And just keep it really simple. You don't have to write a whole bunch of stuff. Just have a special notebook for intuition and magic in your life. And what is more fun than rereading some of the magic that is kind of, it will lift you up and get you all excited. That's a good way to refresh yourself if you're feeling down is to go back and look in your magic intuition journal and see all the good things that have happened.

Shannon Grissom (24:24)
That's awesome. My stepson and daughter-in-law, have a gratitude jar. so any good thing that happens, they put in this jar. And then New Year's Eve, they open it up for the year. And then just, you do too.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (24:45)
This is my magical moment jar.

Shannon Grissom (24:48)
I

love it. See, and I love that you can put the magical moments on just a little tiny piece of paper. It's not like you're writing a whole essay. You just like this little thing, put it in there. And I love that. Great idea. Wow. So I was tuned into you. How does your intuitive coaching help creative people, you know, get past their fears and

Ronnie Ann Ryan (25:07)
Wow!

Shannon Grissom (25:18)
and insecurity is about grading.

Ronnie Ann Ryan (25:24)
You know?

I think a lot of times it boils down to believing in yourself.

And so I try to help them find the ways where they have been successful in the past. That's the evidence again. Where have things turned around? What shifts did they experience? How did they get out of this block the last time? How did they get out of a block in a different part of their life that we can bring that over to this part of your life? Because we've all had plenty of experiences, you know, but we've

Shannon Grissom (25:59)
forget.

So Ronnie, you've just given us a lot to work with lots of fun things to tune into. What's what do you have next on the horizon that people can look forward to?

Ronnie Ann Ryan (26:11)
Well, 1 thing I'm thinking about is doing ⁓ 1 more book, which sometimes I can't fathom. But I am thinking about it. And I've had the title for a long time, which is just the working title, but it's called Conversations on the Inner Plane. And it's all about how to have intuitive conversations with anyone or anything inert, alive, dead, imaginary, fictional.

because your imagination and intuition work so well hand in hand. You can really do whatever you want. So for example, I've talked to the honeysuckle vine in my yard. I talked to fire once. had a friend, she had a big fire going and she goes, let's talk to the fire. I'm like, really? So we talked to the fire and I've talked to people's pictures and had conversations.

I'm not losing it. These are all real things you can do. And so there's so many different things and experiences that I've had that I thought it might be interesting for people to read about how they might do that too. So that's 1 of the things I'm ⁓ contemplating. And then last summer, I had a friend who was doing ⁓ an art show with paintings and she had done a lot of building, historical buildings from the town.

And she said, I need some other stuff to go with it. Like she wanted ⁓ things like for a summer vacation, like pictures of ice cream or popcorn or seagulls or so I painted like 10 different little paintings about all these different things. And, ⁓ and then I hung them up to like, just mix it up with her, her paintings. And I sold eight out of 10 of them and they were all in it. I know I never had sold anything.

And they were all very inexpensive, but it was kind of a thrill. So there's another art show coming up at the end of August. So I'm contemplating if I'm going to do that again. sometimes I get really, this is where I get stuck. I'm like, I don't want to mix the colors. I don't want to squeeze the paint. I don't want to, you know. So part of me is thinking maybe I should just do some pen and ink and colored pencil and stuff. And maybe that will just get me going and get me back to the paint. I don't know. We'll see.

Shannon Grissom (28:36)
Just get started. I know that I do palette knife a lot when I don't feel like cleaning my brushes. Because then you just wipe it off and you're done. Yeah. So how can people learn more about you? How can they connect to you?

Ronnie Ann Ryan (28:50)
All

right, well the best thing to do is find me on my website, IntuitiveEdge.biz. My podcast is there too, although you can also find it at Breathe, Love, and Magic.com. And of course it's on Apple and every other place. So, and I'm, you know, I'm on Instagram, Ronnie Ann Ryan and all, I'm Ronnie Ann Ryan everywhere.
