The LMD Podiatry Podcast
EP # 2 - Effective Foot Care for Runners
In this episode of the LMD Podiatry Podcast, Dr. Lauren shares her tips to ensure that your feet are protected properly while running. She emphasizes the importance of choosing the right shoes for running. High-impact activities like running require shoes that are stiff and well-padded to provide shock absorption. She recommend brands like ASICs, Brooks and New Balance, while suggesting avoiding Skechers, Puma, Nike, and Adidas due to their flimsier construction. Jeremy shares his experience of running with Nike shoes that have netting around the foot, which is causing pressure on the toes. Dr. Lauren also highlights the importance of considering foot shape when choosing shoes and recommends using orthotic inserts to align and support the feet properly.
Dr. Lauren recommends not wearing the same shoe every day to allow it to air out and prevent moisture-related issues like athlete's foot. Stretching is also crucial for foot health, including stretching the plantar fascia and calves.
