Alistair Wheatley

Welcome to the latest episode of Gospel Impacts the podcast! In this edition, I had the incredible privilege of engaging in a conversation with a true legend in the world of sports. Join me as we meet Graham Daniels, the esteemed General Director of Christians in Sport, a prominent figure in the sporting realm.

Graham's journey in professional football traces back to the glory days of the late 1970s and early 1980s where he delighted the crowds while representing Cardiff City in the picturesque valleys of his homeland, Wales. However, in a pivotal moment of his career, Graham made a decision in 1983, bidding farewell to Wales and embarking on an exciting new chapter by signing with Cambridge United where he even played against the legend Kevin Keegan. Today, he not only graces the club with his presence but also serves as a highly valued member of their Board of Directors.

The depth of Graham's passion for football is immeasurable, and his unwavering connection to the game is evident in his continued dedication and active involvement throughout the years with the leaders in the game. Fueling his desire to comprehend the intricate aspects of football, Graham delved into academic pursuits, earning a Ph.D. in the field. His research centred around the topic of 'Identity Formation in Christian Professional Footballers.' This academic knowledge has helped him understand how he can best serve and support those he meets on a regular basis.

Without further ado, it is my absolute delight and honour to introduce you to Graham Daniels, affectionately known as Dano among his friends and colleagues. Prepare to be inspired and captivated by his remarkable journey and profound perspectives on the intersection of faith and professional sports.
