Welcome to Out of the Mouth of Babes, the podcast for our youth. To laughs at me every time. I say that because I get all extra animated Right TO. Yes sir, hey man, I am sitting here with one of the most underrated defensive linemen in the state of Indiana. I'm telling you, I've coached a lot of kids in my lifetime but this young man is one of the most underrated, the most physical, the most energetic and he's one of the best leaders that I've seen from a student athlete in a long time.
Speaker 1:And unfortunately he's not getting the props that he deserves, but I want him to just kind of know that I appreciate you for your style. You know I've tried to make him a rah-rah kind of aggressive football player. He's not having it. He has his own style, he keeps it calm and he delivers play after play and he's somebody that I wish that when I play, I could have played with. So let's give Tellis TO Ortiz a round of applause TO talk to us a little bit about your experience with football and what do you like the most about playing this great game of football.
Speaker 2:So football was never my first choice. It came freshman year of high school. You know my brother was playing. I was like, why not just play? I kind of just got stuck with it. I just enjoy like the family aspect of it. You know what I mean knowing like I can trust the other 10 guys that are out there with me, and you know it really like, really makes me feel good man, I, as I've said to you, I, if you want to.
Speaker 1:There's not a kid that hits as hard as him. There's not a kid that works as hard as him than we have on our team. So I'm you know this is going to be a push for all college coaches out there who are looking for a great student athlete. To Ortiz, I'm going to let him pronounce his first name, because I always mess it up, so pronounce your full first name.
Speaker 2:My name is Telus Foro. Telus Foro.
Speaker 1:Ortiz, senior Richmond High School. Three grade point averages over a 3.0, stellar student, stellar athlete. To talk to us a little bit about leadership how do you pull a team together that is struggling? That is not cohesive.
Speaker 2:I think it really goes on with your connection with the guys. You know what I mean. You can't lead without knowing everybody else. So I think just understanding how to talk to people is the biggest thing, because I know there's some guys that like they just don't react well to you yelling at them or like screaming, and just like just talking to them, having a conversation with them. So I think it's really about understanding how to talk to people and understanding them as a person. That really makes you a great leader.
Speaker 1:All right, this is your senior year, man, yeah, and I know you are looking at and wanting to go play college football somewhere, and I'm not going to put you on the spot as to you know where you're looking. But if you had to make a pitch to, for, for to a college coach right now about and I know this is hard for you because you're such a humble guy, so I'm going to push you I might throw some words out for you. But how, how will you sell yourself to college coach x, who is looking for the right player? What would would?
Speaker 2:you say I say I'm committed. You know what I mean. Once I'm with the team I'm committed. Like freshman year I said I came in wasn't sure about it. You know I just, you know, bought in. You know what I mean. I'll buy in fast. You know what I mean. I'm trying to be a leader on and off the field. You know what I mean, not just for my guys on the football field but, you know, for my community. You know that's a big part of me. So I think those are the two main things I try to sell to a college coach for sure.
Speaker 1:Now I want you to know that it may look like I'm taller than him because I push my chair up, but tell them your size TO. I'm 6'2" 230 right now, and I'm 5'11". But I just want you to know that he is taller than me and he's a towering individual, not only in size, not only in stature, personality and also commitment and leadership. To thank you for all the work you're doing, will continue to do. I'm giving you your roses right now. I appreciate you. To is in the house.
Speaker 2:Thank you guys, Thank you.
Speaker 1:Out of the Mouth of Bays the podcast for you.
