Welcome Out of the Mouth of Babes.
Speaker 2:Podcast for our future leaders, All right. So first question If sports and stuff don't work out and you don't turn out to be a professional athlete, what's the job you're going to?
Speaker 1:pursue. I'm actually going to go to school for business to become a realtor. Actually, I'm gonna get my real estate license I don't know where at yet, but then I'm gonna end up opening my own brokerage as time goes on uh, I'm gonna definitely go to college, for sure, and I'm gonna go to school for business, but I'm going to get into stocks and stuff like that.
Speaker 2:Both my parents are real estate agents, so I'll be being a realtor as well. I would probably like to move to Florida and get my real estate license and probably end up running a brokerage as well.
Speaker 1:Got a lot of peons around me.
Speaker 2:Oh, bro, I've been saying that before. Anyone was on that.
Speaker 1:Who's the goal of basketball?
Speaker 2:LeBron James, michael Jordan, michael Jordan.
Speaker 1:Okay, you tweaked out with LeBron. Why LeBron?
Speaker 3:Because one all-time leading scorer, Two longevity, Three multiple championships for different multiple, different franchises with multiple, multiple different superstars exactly, he had a like come on, he went around superstars. Alright, let's see. What did Jordan do without Pippen?
Speaker 4:y'all don't even know, y'all just be chatting.
Speaker 3:Y'all don't know what LeBron do that sounds crazy what LeBron do.
Speaker 1:What LeBron do look at the 2018.
Speaker 3:When he had the Cavs Look at the 2018. No, I'm not even talking about that.
Speaker 1:When he had the Cavs, what was it 2018.
Speaker 3:Not that time, when he had George Hill as his point guard.
Speaker 1:He had D-Wade and Bosh right. Come on.
Speaker 3:Look who Dirk put out. If we wanna talk about 2011, look who Dirk put out In his Run to the finals.
Speaker 2:Dirk is super nice, so look who he put out. He put out, so we not finna talk about Kyrie carrying.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:In the finals game.
Speaker 1:Kyrie left. What happened when Kyrie left? What happened?
Speaker 3:If we wanna be real he went right back. He went right back, but he lost to a super team. If we want to be real.
Speaker 6:What is Kyrie? I love Kyrie. As I say, kyrie is almost my go-to.
Speaker 1:We know how much you love him?
Speaker 3:Yeah, but what has Kyrie done since he left LeBron?
Speaker 1:We're not talking about Kyrie right now. We're talking about LeBron.
Speaker 3:Okay, that's what I'm saying. So just look at the impact on his teammates that LeBron gives. It's really only about the 2011 when he got put out with Wade and Bosh. If I'm not mistaken, dirk put out, he put out Kobe, he put out KD on the Thunder.
Speaker 1:Come on, kd was nice, but he wasn't nice, nice like that yet Harden.
Speaker 3:I believe Harden was on that team. Harden wasn't Harden, yet Harden had nobody with him Harden wasn't Harden yet, and then he put who else he put out, and with him Harden wasn't.
Speaker 1:Harden yet, and then he put who else he put out, and then he put out LeBron, come on, that's like us, our freshman year.
Speaker 3:Come on bro.
Speaker 1:That's like when Coach Ray first got here. That was great.
Speaker 3:Then he spent and he spun back on it, and then we're not going to talk about everything else, but for sure we're going to sit here and argue about this all night.
Speaker 2:Yeah, literally.
Speaker 3:As I said, we could definitely change it because.
Speaker 2:I mean LeBron's the GOAT, that's all I can say. Oh my gosh, he's talking Anyways.
Speaker 3:Yeah, he tweaked out.
Speaker 2:No question what you got to say what I got to say.
Speaker 3:Alright, as do y'all think, jokic has a bag.
Speaker 2:Yes, bro, look at the people around him. Since we're going to talk about the people around, people like Jamal Murray is not doing that without Jokic around him, and none of these bums go do anything without Jokic, because Jokic gets them open Facts and he finds them Not. About that it's just about what.
Speaker 3:Does he have a bag for himself to score? No, he averages 30, though I don't think he have a bag for himself to score? No, he averages 30, though I don't think he has a bag.
Speaker 1:Come on, you're telling me Yoke's just coming down the court over here getting his bag and scoring himself. Stop, he averages 30.
Speaker 3:He getting a rebound going back up, he averages 30, but if you took the height and weight Some lucky.
Speaker 2:Okay, bro, like you can say that about anything, if you take Me and Seth's height and weight out of it, like we're not going to college. Nah, I do.
Speaker 1:I just support that.
Speaker 3:But come on, yokech, y'all can still get a bucket, though no, y'all got. Y'all know how to dribble Yokech is.
Speaker 1:Yokech can dribble, he can dribble, he can dribble, but he's not.
Speaker 3:He don't got a bag.
Speaker 2:He don Exactly His playmaking abilities make him be able to score because no one can help.
Speaker 1:For sure, but he's not over here. You got to think about who's guarding him. Bam out of bio, come on, he got big people guarding him Unskillful bigs.
Speaker 2:He's got defensive player that you're guarding him. Jared Jackson, what's the word?
Speaker 1:Darren Jackson, they're the blocker shots.
Speaker 3:Darren Jackson also got scared when Anthony Evers winner for a dunk.
Speaker 2:Okay, bro, one time I'm not jumping with that personally.
Speaker 1:I'm not either. Yeah, I'm not jumping with any of it. If I'm defensive player of the year, I'm jumping with that At practice you're jumping with that and you play with John.
Speaker 3:Morant.
Speaker 2:At practice, you're jumping with that.
Speaker 3:And you yeah.
Speaker 2:Stop, I jump with Cedric, bro. You don't practice Entering story. I dunked on Julian, his first year here.
Speaker 3:Okay, I give that to you, but what happened the first time you ever tried to dunk on me? I didn't know you were actually going. No one's ever really jumped with me. When I asked someone to jump with me, they only did it.
Speaker 1:You didn't block me, I just missed. I padded it.
Speaker 3:I missed. He's lying.

Speaker 3:Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2:Player of the year she be talking stupid. Yeah, I don't mess with her shoe to hoop in.
Speaker 1:KD14s. That's my personal favorite. They're comfortable, they got great grip on the court. They look good.
Speaker 4:Or.
Speaker 1:Kobe's. I like the way Kobe's look. They feel good, but it gotta be a certain Kobe.
Speaker 3:I'm gonna say Kyrie 4 through 7. I think everyone will agree with me on that Chill.
Speaker 2:Kobe 5 and Nike GT Cup 1s.
Speaker 3:I'd say that for sure, but not everybody's top. I'm touching Kobe's right now.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you gotta I mean, but like who would think Kobe's before Kobe's was Kobe, you feel me? And they were still smooth. Yeah, I mess with them. I got.
Speaker 2:Kobe. I just got Kobe Ace. They're nice too, but they're not messing with some of the Kyrie shoes and stuff like that.

Speaker 2:I like a couple of the feature songs.
Speaker 1:And.
Speaker 2:Daylight. I like Daylight, daylight, heart.
Speaker 1:I mess with. What is it we tried, or something? What is it Tried? Our best, was it tried, our best Hold up.
Speaker 3:Alright, you got it, but nah, I feel like Bahama Promises I like that one too. If it wasn't a feature.
Speaker 1:Yeah, for sure, it was almost me Like his features were the best. Yeah, he definitely. Hey, 8am in Charlotte was hard, that was hard. Virginia Beach was hard too. Come on.
Speaker 2:Bahama Promises is good, but Fear Heights was cool, fear Heights was tough, except. Try your Best was cool.
Speaker 3:That's the one with Adonis At the end, right, yeah, I don't hey, no, adonis was number one Picture on here. He was cool. I ain't for a five year old. I ain't gonna diss a five year old.

Speaker 1:He's good, though. Eh yeah, he's top two.
Speaker 3:He's nice, yeah, but yeah him right I definitely was expecting more because, especially off coming off her loss and even Certified Loverboy. I didn't really listen to him honestly, never mind. I mean, I liked what.

Speaker 5:I'm good. What's up, buddy?
Speaker 7:Good, it was one of my first tapes.
Speaker 3:See, look.
Speaker 7:They don't even know what a tape is, but it was one of my first tapes.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you act like you got an old soul or something. You know everything.
Speaker 2:I got vinyls. Half of Julian's playlist is just screaming.
Speaker 1:No, it's not. It's a little oozy.
Speaker 5:Half is I listen to.
Speaker 3:Detroit. I listen to a whole different. Y'all don't even understand the atmosphere.
Speaker 8:So Cedric is like our second son who knows? All country with us in the car.
Speaker 1:Ever since, like seventh grade, I walk into the house. They got country on it. I'm singing word for word.
Speaker 7:Cedric knew every word.
Speaker 8:Every word, anywhere. We ever took those kids since the I don't know what Long time ago.
Speaker 7:Third grade.
Speaker 3:Third grade, cedric's always in the back, knows everywhere every song we ever played that's what a writer was sleeping on country whole time is country better than rock and roll as a music genre for me it is.
Speaker 8:I mean, you know just how I grew up, but you know I grew up on a farm and then moved to Richmond and adjusted and then I went back to my country route.
Speaker 1:Country's hard. Overall it's good. I didn't grow up on a farm or anything, but like you feel, me, country's just good.
Speaker 3:You wouldn't feel that way if you didn't come in the house and country was being played. What do you mean?
Speaker 8:Cedric wouldn't know our house if that wasn't the way he walked in our house. He would be like where am I If that wasn't happening?
Speaker 3:They always influenced you to listen to country. Right, I listened to it before you did.
Speaker 1:I knew the words before I even went to the house.
Speaker 4:Yes, he did, I'll go in, I'll just know it.
Speaker 1:And Ryder.
Speaker 8:That's when Ryder was hanging on country from Zach. Uh yeah, yeah, makes sense. Yeah, dang what you trying to say. Have you talked to these?
Speaker 3:boys about what Zach like or like Zach like like in rap he listens to rap too.
Speaker 1:He listens to rock and roll. For sure, he listens to a lot of stuff. His music genre is ridiculous is why yeah?
Speaker 8:pretty versatile, yeah, so have you asked them how they're feeling about this upcoming basketball season?
Speaker 1:oh, I'm very excited. It's gonna be a good one, make sure y'all come out, come watch this.
Speaker 3:It's gonna be fun.
Speaker 8:Put on the show definitely I'm like counting the minutes, but I'm also don't want to count the minutes because I know yeah.
Speaker 1:Ryder's senior year.
Speaker 8:Ryder's senior year and I just I don't, I don't want to rush it.
Speaker 3:Yeah, ryder.
Speaker 1:Growing up on me.
Speaker 3:That first game, but I know it's going to be my last first game.
Speaker 1:My kid growing up on me yeah.
Speaker 8:But Thad you know we're still going to come watch y'all.
Speaker 1:Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 8:No doubt about that.
Speaker 1:What was Ryder's most embarrassing moment growing up?
Speaker 2:That's what I wanted.
Speaker 1:What was Ryder's most embarrassing moment growing up. I got places to be it up. Yeah, what is Ryder's most embarrassing moment growing up?
Speaker 2:I got places to be right now.
Speaker 5:Well, you got to go home make your bed, I got to go.
Speaker 2:I got to work out. Are you lying?
Speaker 8:Are you asking me this?
Speaker 1:Yeah, what's Ryder's most embarrassing moment growing up?
Speaker 8:I don't really think he knows his most embarrassing moment because he was so little. I don't think he remembers it and it has like he was just a little boy and you know, little boys have things that happen that they don't know why it's happening. If you catch my drift.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:No no no, you're not about to do this right now, absolutely not. You're not doing this right now all right yeah, I'll just stop there, all right like I can't believe he was about to say that. What?
Speaker 3:you do what you do, rather yeah she's told me my story, that's not like what you do right, I don't, honestly, I don't.
Speaker 8:I mean that would be a question for him, quite frankly, because he, like, I think everyone's most embarrassing moment is what, like, traumatizes them the most. Yeah, I don't know. I mean I don't know, ryder, you answer that.
Speaker 3:Mine has to do with Beyonce. You said what? Mine has to do with Beyonce. Beyonce song that mine has to do with beyonce. You said what mine has to do with beyonce beyonce song.
Speaker 1:My parents used to say I used to sing, so every time they come on they'd be like it's his song and knowing I hated the song, so now it just made me feel like I would probably be like just singing in the shower top of my lungs, like some like alicia keys, so like I'd be doing, like if I'm in the shower it's like my space. I'll be singing some crazy stuff.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that's not embarrassing though, like that, don't traumatize you. Like if I walked up to you and said you singing in the shower, ha ha ha, you not going to be, I'm going to own up to it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you're going to own up to it.
Speaker 3:Nah, what's my most embarrassing moment here? Just something that made me cringe. When they bring up that song, mine is nah.
Speaker 1:I think it would be. I don't know. For some reason I don't like playgrounds. Something happened at a playground.
Speaker 3:I don't know.
Speaker 1:Playgrounds make me sick. For some reason, Every time I think of a playground go to a playground. My stomach starts hurting. I got to throw up. I don't know, maybe I threw up on the playground or something, I don't know. Something happened on the playground.
Speaker 3:What's that park right next to my house?
Speaker 1:Miller.
Speaker 3:Miller yeah, you know how they got that thing. You get on and you push. It's like almost like zip line. My sister was pushing me on that and she pushed me super hard and he stopped and I went flying. That's crazy, I don't know On my back.
Speaker 6:Mr and Mrs Kate, do you have anything else you want to share with the young men on? Out of the Mouth of Babes.
Speaker 8:Just that I love them both.
Speaker 7:Love you.
Speaker 8:They're my baby.

You know having their high school years together and we always knew it was going to be great. You know having their high school years together and we always knew it was going to be great and it's going to be really fun.
Speaker 6:Thank you all for joining us on our podcast Out of the Mouth of Babes. As you guys know, Out of the Mouth of Babes is a biblical scripture, Matthew 21, 16. And, as you know, it is outlined to that out of the mouth of babes are powerful things.
Speaker 8:And so that's why we Amen yes, I love it. I think it's fantastic. Thanks for having them.
Speaker 6:Thank you.
Speaker 8:All right, guys, see you later. Bye.
Speaker 6:Yeah, you guys were talking about a number of different things. Talk to us a little bit about, before we get off here, something inspiring, something that's inspiring, that's happened to you within the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 1:Last couple of weeks, recently, inspired.
Speaker 3:Hey what's that sound? Hold up. Yeah, we got another one.
Speaker 2:Hey, that ain't me. I know where that's from. Let me see that one.
Speaker 7:That's a small answer. Let's talk to him.
Speaker 3:Hold up.
Speaker 6:Hello, hey, welcome to Out, thank you Hold on, hello, hey, welcome to Out of the Mouth of Babes, the podcast for our youth, on the call right now. We got Sherika and Zach O'Brien and you are in the booth with Ryder and Cedric and Julian, and we just got off the phone with the Kates and so they just shared us some memorable moments of little Ryder when he was little Ryder and so now I'm sure Ryder got some questions for you about Cedric we need to hear a most embarrassing moment like a most embarrassing moment.
Speaker 7:most embarrassing moment has to be this football story and Coach Kevin Hanley back in the day when all of the kids used to play football with him.
Speaker 1:Just so we're clear hold up. I was nice at football. I was good.
Speaker 3:We'll let them decide that.
Speaker 7:He was good at football, but it took a while for him to really lock in. So I believe it was his first year playing football and he was not a fan At all. We didn't force him. He had fun with his friends, but when it came down to it he was not one to step up. So they had a good game. I believe they went undefeated both years. They played, but may have lost one or two games. I don't remember exactly. But one of the coaches it wasn't Kevin, one of the other coaches came up to us after a game and they said, man, we've got to get on with Cedric. And I said what happened? They said, man, he came out telling me he didn't want to go back in because his feet were too hot.
Speaker 1:That's because I had a baseball game after I wanted to play baseball. That's when I wanted to be a baseball player.
Speaker 7:Now I've told that story a million times and I've never heard the baseball excuse. But that's a good one.
Speaker 1:I wanted to be a baseball player, because I remember another time you asked me and he said you want to go home, I was like, yeah, he's like you got a baseball game.
Speaker 6:I was like he trying to make it all smooth.
Speaker 1:I had a baseball game. He was like you want to go play baseball? I was like yeah, he said I thought your feet were hot. They were hot.
Speaker 7:I would say they were hot.
Speaker 6:but like right on, julian, you got any other questions for no O'Brien's keep my mom quiet.
Speaker 1:Now, mom, what was my most embarrassed moment?
Speaker 4:Actually, I could be. I don't think you really had many embarrassing moments because you really didn't do much. I would. You're not. I mean, you're a cool, chill type of kid, so I don't think you really have any embarrassing moments that I've seen. That's good. You played things kind of safe.
Speaker 3:Yeah, what embarrassing nicknames Chill.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he went with nobody knowing. I don't got any.
Speaker 4:So he's always been called as a kid, he was given the nickname day-day. I do not like that nickname yeah, that's the one that he got until I think, talking about Zach, I don't think I called him that anymore. Only his dad's side of the family would call him Day-Day.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I didn't really like it. I didn't like that name. The best one is Sed and Setti.
Speaker 4:I don't think they named Sed Setti.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I just got that one from playing basketball, you know.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 7:I've heard him called Slim, yeah, slim.
Speaker 1:Slim.
Speaker 7:Clowns.
Speaker 3:Lil Bro.
Speaker 1:Lil Bro's crazy.
Speaker 3:Baby, cuz I've heard him all.
Speaker 1:I've heard Lil Bro Baby. Like I've heard him. They might not be true, but I've heard Lil Bro Baby cuz Lil Bro?
Speaker 3:might not be true, but what about Baby cuz?
Speaker 1:Lil Bro. True, baby cuz. True, I've heard you can't guard me, julian. Julian, run to ones.
Speaker 3:I'm calling you out a lot, but yes sir as soon as I mentioned baby cuz josh, he stopped trying to get our get our attention.
Speaker 1:Josh was definitely baby cuz too. Yeah, he knew what it was, josh baby bro. But now he's walking away.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I'm not baby, because I'm a big cuz around here, but now he's walking away.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'm not baby Cause, I'm big Cause around here. You can't guard me.
Speaker 3:We can run the ones.
Speaker 1:We can run the ones. Julian, can he guard you? No, can he guard you.
Speaker 3:He definitely be teeing up. Though he be teeing up, he get his buckets I give Josh his credit.
Speaker 1:Y'all play one on one. Who's winning?
Speaker 3:Oh, me for sure. Oh, it sound nice.
Speaker 1:Y'all playing at 7, he winning by 4.
Speaker 3:It sound real nice.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he tweaked out Anything else.
Speaker 3:Y'all say ma Nah, I ain't gonna say no names, but in open gym Josh was cooking.
Speaker 2:He was cooking, he was cooking, he was cooking bro.
Speaker 3:I ain't gonna say no names.
Speaker 2:Cooking who? Not me, not you. Yeah, I know y'all Not talking about me.
Speaker 1:Nah, he's cooking Off screens.
Speaker 3:If you know, you know.
Speaker 1:Oh, he said Deontay.
Speaker 3:Smith oh he Crazy. He said he was cooking.
Speaker 1:Pure screens. Step back three. It look good.
Speaker 6:So shit O'Brien's. This is a podcast that we, that I kind of put together. It's called Out of the Mouth of Babes and it's, as, as you know, matthew 21, 16. Out of the mouth of babes come good things, and so we try to interview kids or students, you know, every week or every other week, depending on the availability, and just get them an opportunity to talk, and just get them an opportunity to talk. And this time what we do is we have oh bro, at the end of it, we allow them to just get in there by themselves.
Speaker 4:Okay, do you fellas enjoy yourself.
Speaker 3:Yeah yeah, cedric got a question, mom and Zach.
Speaker 1:What's better Rock and roll or country?
Speaker 3:As a music genre, as an overall Country.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 1:My mom don't listen to country. My mom don't like country she don't listen to country.
Speaker 3:She said country over rock and roll. She don't listen to country.
Speaker 4:I mean Christian is my preferred, or like old school R&B, but I learned to.
Speaker 7:You can have country Christian or Christian rock.
Speaker 4:I can. I will say country, just because with Zach he's kind of opened my horizons to that. So I can definitely damn to his country versus some of them old school rock and roll.
Speaker 3:I wouldn't say I like stinging and stuff, like of course that's too much. I mean like I say like NWA, like people who would be inducted into the rock hall of fame. I say like NWA is better than anything, sure For sure.
Speaker 1:Let me know who that is.
Speaker 3:Cedric and Ryder do not know who NWA is what.
Speaker 4:Who is?
Speaker 3:that she said who is that?
Speaker 4:Yes, I just asked who is that? Yes, who is that?
Speaker 6:Ice Cube Dr Dre, mc Ran, mc Yella.
Speaker 7:We've literally watched the movie. I don't know what they're talking about You've watched Straight Outta Compton.
Speaker 1:I don't know oh my MC Yella, Like he forgot what it was.
Speaker 6:It's DJ Yella, my bad DJ Yella.
Speaker 3:I mean we've watched of them. I wouldn't say that, but I said oh, one of them.
Speaker 7:Oh, for sure, yeah, I think it's definitely top two, not two.
Speaker 3:Dopest rap, hip-hop bio for sure, or I don't know, because all eyes on me and um, what's, what's biggies?
Speaker 7:notorious, don't say Notorious.
Speaker 3:Yeah, Notorious was tough.
Speaker 7:Do not say that.
Speaker 3:Notorious was tough.
Speaker 7:I liked it, but when you compare the two films, no way.
Speaker 3:Yeah, for sure. I was going to say Straight Outta Compton was definitely better, but you can't knock Notorious. It's not one of them.
Speaker 6:You get a chance. Check out NWA. They kind of changed hip-hop.
Speaker 1:I'm playing on it.
Speaker 6:They brought the West Coast to the forefront of hip-hop music in the late 80s, early 90s. Really political ice cube Dope. I mean they found it me Snoop Dogg came after them, came up out of that camp. So I know it's not a Rod R&B Waves, rod Waves.
Speaker 1:Hey, it's Rod Waves. Come on, put some respect on it. Rod Waves.
Speaker 6:Hey, they said. What they said was your son said that he Listens to Rod Waves Before the games.
Speaker 4:Yeah, and I do not like Rod Waves at all. He is depressing Rod.
Speaker 2:Waves is too sad.
Speaker 3:Oh my god you be talking about being worthless, Like I'm on the way to school and I can't listen to that. Have you ever felt worthless?
Speaker 1:Like it's 8 in the morning. It's 8 in the morning. Come on, Drew, you too tough.
Speaker 4:I can't relate to that.
Speaker 6:Hey, I told him that's like listening to Dionne Warwick before the game.
Speaker 1:Once again, who's? That before the game Once again who's that?
Speaker 3:Yeah, I don't know who that is.
Speaker 6:Josh asks what's his most embarrassing moment.
Speaker 7:Oh gosh man hold on.
Speaker 6:Can you get the?
Speaker 4:list, I mean okay, I mean okay.
Speaker 1:I don't know he's too many that we've caught where'd he come from can't
Speaker 4:really. I mean, josh is always goofy.
Speaker 7:I don't know. So when I first got with really I mean, josh is always goofy I don't know. So when I first got with Sherika, the set was for Josh's two and this may be looking back, it's probably pretty embarrassing Not me or Josh, but maybe Sherika. But we used to set up in Walmart and I would run down Jericho. But we used to set up in Walmart and I would run down at the end of the checkout line to almost the entrance and let Josh come out of whatever checkout line we were at and we would act like we hadn't seen each other and we would. I'd be like Josh, he'd be like Zach and we'd run and he'd jump into my arms and everybody would be looking and be like Zach and we'd run and he'd jump into my arm and everybody would be looking and we'd be like, oh, so that?
Speaker 4:was.
Speaker 7:That's trolling. Oh, I don't think For a little while.
