Hello, my name is Stephanie. Welcome to the All Is Well podcast. My mission is to teach people the Word of God and emphasize its importance in their daily lives. I'm glad you decided to join me today. Let's get started. Welcome to episode 14.
Speaker 1So in this episode I'm going to discuss the importance of God's word in our lives and how it is very strong and powerful. But we must study it and know God's word so it can become powerful in our own lives. So let's get started. Let's turn on over to Joshua, chapter 1, verse 8. So in Joshua, chapter 1, verse 8, it reads this book of law, which is the Bible, shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe, to do according to all that is written in it, for then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success. So God, right here, has given us instruction. He is saying that the book of law, which is the Bible, shall not depart from our mouth. The words that are in the Bible, we need to speak them, because the word of God is life. It's not like any other textbook. And it reads this book of law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. And he also tells us that we are to follow what is written in the word of God. When we do this, for then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success. So God's telling us, when we read the Bible, when we meditate on his word and we follow his commandments, then we will make our way prosperous and we will have good success.
Speaker 1So in regards to how strong and powerful the word of God is, let's turn on over to Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 12. So in Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 12, it reads For the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Right here it is telling you how strong and how powerful the Word of God is. It says the Word of God is living. This is not a dead book, it's not just a book of history, of stories that you just read and oh, that was a nice story. And then you put it to the side.
Speaker 1This book does not work like that. This book carries life, it is living, it is powerful. That's why, when we read in Joshua, it said God said that the book of law shall not depart from our mouth, that we shall speak it. We shall speak his word. And it is living and powerful. And it is sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, which means it can get into those areas and heal those areas, and of joints and marrow. That's healing. It can heal our body, every single area of our body, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. It can also heal and go into our thoughts. Why are? Are you thinking this way?
Speaker 1The Word of God transforms your thinking and your mind and intents of the heart, keeps you on the right track. But you can only receive the benefits of how strong and powerful the Word of God is. When you meditate on the Word you can say, oh, the Word of God is wonderful, it's great. But if you never dive into it, you're never truly going to know how powerful and how useful and how strong the Word of God is Because once you find out that and you're able to use it into your life, you'll never leave it. You can't. And also too, the more that you're in the Word of God, you develop this hunger for it and you just want to know more about him and more about Jesus and God, the Holy Spirit and his word, and you just want to keep going on and on and on. But we have to start by meditating on the word day and night and realize how important and how powerful the word of God is, and just to follow the commandments that he's given us. And if we do what he says, just like it says in Joshua, then he will make our way prosperous and be successful. Now let's look at an example of Jesus and how he used this and how we can see how the word of God was planted inside of his heart.
Speaker 1Let's turn on over to Matthew, chapter 4, verse 1. Verse 1,. Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, and when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward he was hungry. Now, when the tempter came to him, who is the tempter? The tempter is the devil. He said if you are the son of God, command that these stones become bread. First of all, he states if there's no, if he is the son of God, he was trying to throw Jesus off course. He says if you are the son of God, command that these stones become bread. Verse 4, but he answered. He says so.
Speaker 1Jesus responded with words. He responded with words from the Bible, the Word of God, and so the devil couldn't say anything about that. So then he jumped on to the next thing, verse five. Then the devil took him up into the holy city, set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him if you are the son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written. Now the devil flipped it it. Now he's taken a verse from the bible and he is saying for it is written, for it is written, he shall give his angels charge over you and in their hands they shall bear you up lest you dash your foot against a stone.
Speaker 1The devil knows the word too, but you have to know it better. Verse 7 j. Jesus said to him it is written again. You shall not tempt the Lord, your God, because you have to have the word hidden in your heart. You have to know it, just like it says also in the Bible out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So if out of your mouth is just constant cursing and bad mouthing and you're speaking negative, you're putting in the wrong stuff inside your heart. You need to meditate on this word and then the opposite will come out. Also, too, when someone says something you can figure out, okay, does the Bible say that? Does Jesus say that it may sound good, it may look good, but did Jesus say that? Does it say that in his word? Did God command us to do that? And then, in verse 8, it reads again the devil took him up on an exceedingly high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him all these things I will give you if you will fall down and worship me. So now the devil is promising Jesus I can give you everything, but I need you to fall down and worship me. Then Jesus said to him in verse 10, away with you, satan. For it is written, you shall worship the Lord, your God, and him only you shall serve. Verse 11, then the devil left him and, behold, angels came and ministered to him.
Speaker 1As you can see with each of these responses, jesus responded with the word of God. It was embedded in his heart. First of all, in the very beginning, he fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. The devil thought that he was going to attack Jesus at his weakest point. But actually he was at his strongest point because whenever you are fasting you are putting the flesh down but you're raising up your spirit. So his spirit man was very strong, even though his body was physically hungry. And so during that time of fasting and praying, then his spirit man was very strong with the word of God. And so with everything that the devil threw at him, jesus responded with the word of God.
Speaker 1And so we need to be like that also. We need to have the word of God in our hearts, hidden in our hearts, or when a situation arises, or when someone says something to us or about us, then we know what the Word of God says and that'll just come up from our spirit, because that is in our spirit. But remember, you only get to that point if you continually read the Word, if you're continually reading the word day and night. It is a must. He instructs us to do that because we go out in the world. We meet a bunch of people, we're in conversations with a lot of people, we're listening to TV and social media and workplace and conversations and just different things that enter our mind and enter our heart. So, by the end of the day, we need to renew our mind and make things right. We need to renew our mind and so let's remember to meditate on the Word of God. Meditate on these scriptures day and night and you will see the change in your life and you will start to see how strong and powerful the word of God is, especially when you start to use it and speak it and implement it in your life.
Speaker 1Thank you for tuning in. If you have not accepted Jesus into your life, say the salvation prayer with me. Heavenly Father, I admit that I have sinned. I repent. I believe in my heart you raised Jesus. Say this salvation prayer with me. I'm glad you prayed that salvation prayer.
