Hello, my name is Stephanie. Welcome to the All Is Well podcast. My mission is to teach people the Word of God and emphasize its importance in their daily lives. I'm glad you decided to join me today. Let's get started. Hello, welcome to episode 28.
Speaker 1In this episode I'm going to talk about the spiritual wisdom of God in 1 Corinthians. So let's get started. Let's turn on over to our Bibles, to 1 Corinthians, chapter 2, verse 6. Now the subheading for this section is spiritual wisdom. Heading for this section is spiritual wisdom. So, as we know, the spiritual wisdom of God is greater and higher than man's wisdom. So we're going to learn how do we obtain his wisdom? What does his wisdom do for us? So, of the rulers of this age who are coming to nothing, but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew, for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory, verse 9,. But as it is written, eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him. Now let's stop and look at that. So it says here what does that even mean? So it means, and it says down here so it's saying that there are wonderful things that we've already seen from God, but there's still so much more for us to see. That's why it says I have not seen. We still have not seen those great, marvelous things, nor ear heard, and also, nor have entered into the heart of man. This means that we haven't even thought of it at all. That's why we know the wisdom of God is higher than our wisdom.
Speaker 1In Isaiah 55, verse 8, it reads For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways, my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. So right here in Isaiah it's already saying that his thoughts and his ways are so much higher than ours. So then it makes sense. Right here it says nor have entered into the heart of man these things, the wisdom of God. It hasn't even entered these wonderful things into our mind and heart. And it says here these are the things which God has prepared for those who love him. It doesn't mean that we're not going to receive these things. We are. But God has these things. They're just so amazing, they are marvelous, but we haven't seen them.
Speaker 1And then let's go on to verse 10. But God has revealed them to us through his spirit. How does that even work? Well, when you're a child of God and you accept Jesus Christ into your life and you receive the Holy Spirit, you are one with Jesus Christ. And so when you are praying, when you are meditating, and when you're including God in your life every day, and you're praying and you're reading his word and it's becoming woven into you, into your spirit, when you're doing that, you're understanding his word, understanding who he is, and when you do this and you have the spirit of God in you.
Speaker 1So verse 10, but God has revealed them to us through his spirit, for the spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God, and it gets us connected to him. And verse 11, for what man knows, the things of a man, except the spirit of the man which is in him, exactly your spirit and God's spirit. You can know the spirit of God by your own spirit and God's spirit. You can know the spirit of God by your own spirit, because when those two are connected and interwoven, you will know the spirit of God. You will know of things to come.
Speaker 1When you receive the Holy Spirit and your spirit is connected to one, you begin to know God will tell you don't go there. I need you to do this instead. And when God gives us that direction, think about this. Your natural mind is saying but I always do this, or it has already been planned. You're already starting to question it in a way, because that is your own thinking, that is man's thinking.
Speaker 1But when we're connected to the Spirit, god reveals things to us and we know things, especially when we pray in tongues. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit and when we pray in tongues, we are praying mysteries to God, we are edifying our spirit, but we're also praying for things that we do not know of. Again, when you are praying in English, you're only praying at your own capacity in English, but when you pray in tongues, when you've received the Holy Spirit, and when you're praying in tongues, you're going to pray for those things that you do not know of. You're going to pray for things to come to pass in your life that you're not even thinking of. But the spirit of God knows and your spirit and God's spirit will intervene and also, too, you could be praying to maybe something to prevent something, to pray for someone, for protection. You don't know it, but when? But your spirit does when it's connected with God.
Speaker 1So this verse is very important and very impactful For what man knows, the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him. Even so, no one knows the things of God except the spirit of God. So, just like I said, when we're connected with God's spirit, it says we receive but the Spirit who is from God that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. So not by the world spirit, not the spirit of the world, not by that spirit. It'll only get us so far. It won't get us what God wants for us.
Speaker 1It says but we've received the Spirit who is from God that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God Verse 13,. These things we also speak, not in words, which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches. The Holy Spirit is our teacher. So when you are a child of God and you accept Jesus Christ into your life, we also have the Holy Spirit that teaches us, he guides us when we are at work, when we're driving in our lives. He's teaching us and we compare spiritual things with spiritual. So it's better to have the Holy Spirit than just our natural wisdom, because the Holy Spirit will see things for us, will guide us, will lead us and protect us into the right way.
Speaker 1But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolish to him, nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. They don't desire anything spiritual, they don't want to know anything spiritual. They can't understand it, they can't comprehend it. They're spiritually discerned. Ask yourself what boat am I in? Am I spiritually discerned? Do I want to know more about God? Do I want to know the wisdom of God? If you do and there's a big difference, because you can plan things out, you can research things out, which are good things for you to do and which we need to do.
Speaker 1But at the same time, when we add God's wisdom to it, let him work on that. He'll take us to a higher level. He'll guide us, he'll lead us. He'll say let's go this route. Why don't you add this to it? Why don't you go over here instead, verse 15, but he who is spiritual judges all things. Yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him. But we have the mind of Christ.
Speaker 1So let's go on over to Proverbs. So Proverbs is the book of wisdom. It gives lots of examples of wisdom and how to obtain God's wisdom and what it does for us. So let's look at Proverbs, chapter 2, verse 1, and the title for this is the value of wisdom. So you can see when you're connected to the spirit and you read the word of God and you follow his word. Let's see what it says here in chapter 2, verse 1. More about God and lift up your voice for understanding. You want to understand it. If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
Speaker 1Verse 6,. For the Lord gives wisdom. He gives wisdom. From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright. He has that for His children. He has that wisdom for us. He is a shield to those who walk uprightly. He guards the path of justice. He preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.
Speaker 1Verse 10, when wisdom enters your heart and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you. Understanding will keep you to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things, from those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the way of darkness, who rejoice in doing evil and delight. So if we go back to verse 10, understanding will keep you to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things and then it continues to tell you, from those who leave the paths of rightness, of brightness, then it tells you what it'll do to help you. But also, if there's an error in your life and you say, god, I need wisdom in this, I don't know what to do, I think I may know what to do, but what should I do? Ask god for wisdom and he will give you the wisdom God wants us to. Ask him for what we need, and a very wise thing to do is to ask him for wisdom. Ask him how to handle the situations that you're in. Ask him how to do this. But we need to remember if we're not tied into the word, listening to spirit-filled messages, but we want to ask him questions. It's going to be hard for us to hear him because we don't know what he sounds like. We don't know what his voice sounds like. We don't know his character.
Speaker 1You have to know in order to know who God is and the Holy Spirit. You have to get to know him. How do you get to know him? Just like any other person. How do you get to know a person, a friend, a co-worker? You start talking to them. If you talk to a friend that you just met, you want to be their best friend. But if you talk to them for one day out of the year, are you going to know this person? No, you're going to forget about them. They're going to forget about you. You're going to have other friends, they're going to have other friends, and then, a year later, you meet them. On that one day. You're going to look at each other as if. Why are we meeting with each other? We didn't even talk for a whole year? Or just be courteous to each other, say hello. You wouldn't do that, right. But if it's your best friend, you'll talk pretty much every day, several times. Throughout the day. Something good happens you something good happens, you have to tell them. Something scary happened, oh, you have to tell them immediately.
Speaker 1So why would it be any different with God? Why would it be any different with Him? So, to get to know Him, who he is, his character, we need to read the Word of God every day, and that's what he instructs us. He says meditate on the Word day and night. He already told us when and how often, day and night. Get to know him. Who is he, who is God, what is his character. People can tell you who he is, but you have to know him for yourself. You have to find out. It's like a friend. I can tell you everything I know about her. You're like, okay, yeah, that's cool, she's nice, she likes volleyball, tennis, she likes to eat cake. But then you have to know her and you will probably know different things about her than what I know, because maybe you'll spend more time with this friend. You'll ask her different questions. Same way with God.
Speaker 1Look into the Bible. What is it that you need? Understand him, and when you do this, he'll lead you, he'll guide you, he'll protect you. And then, when you're out at work or out anywhere and you need his help with something and he speaks to you. His word will come up in your spirit and you'll know it's from him. You'll know his voice. You'll know who he is because you know him.
Accepting Jesus as Savior
Speaker 1Remember the only way to know God and know who he is is to get into His word, spend time with Him, make an appointment, be consistent. That is the first step to wisdom. That is the first step to know God. That is the first step for things to start to line up in your life the way that it should. And even when things start to be fantastic, it doesn't mean that you stop. We still need to continue and to spend time with him. So what I would encourage you to do and like I've mentioned today in this episode, is to make time if you haven't already, and to be consistent with it, is to spend time with God, know who he is in the written word of God, because he has so much more for you than what you realize. And when you dive into the word of God, when you truly do, you will understand him and know him, and he will surprise you and love you and protect you in ways that you never thought were possible.
Speaker 1I'm glad that you decided to join me today and thank you for tuning in. If you have not accepted Jesus into your life, say the salvation prayer with me. Heavenly Father, I admit that I have sinned. I repent. I believe in my heart. You raised Jesus from the dead. I confess with my mouth Jesus is Lord and my Savior. Right now I receive forgiveness by the blood of Jesus. Come into my life. I am saved In Jesus' name, amen. I'm glad you prayed that salvation prayer. Make sure that you plug yourself into a spirit-filled church and read the Word of God. Well, I hope you enjoy the message and thank you for tuning in.
