Episode #33: Pray Without Doubting
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Doubt silently cancels our prayers, preventing God from answering them even when we think we're praying in faith. When we mix faith with uncertainty, we undermine our own requests and block the very answers we seek.
• Ask, seek, and knock repeatedly—prayer requires persistence, not just a one-time request
• Jesus demonstrated the power of faith-filled words when he spoke to the fig tree
• The Greek text in Matthew 7 implies continuous action: keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking
• Doubt means lacking confidence or calling into question the truth of God's ability
• Speaking contradictory words after prayer ("I'm believing for healing" followed by "I always get sick") cancels your faith
• Build stronger faith by increasing your intake of Scripture and faith-building messages
• Come boldly to God's throne of grace—no request is too small or insignificant
• Persistence in prayer demonstrates commitment and seriousness about your requests
If you have not accepted Jesus into your life, say the salvation prayer with me: Heavenly Father, I admit that I have sinned. I repent. I believe in my heart You raised Jesus from the dead. I confess with my mouth Jesus is Lord and my Savior. Right now I receive forgiveness by the blood of Jesus. Come into my life. I am saved In Jesus name. Amen.
Welcome to All Is Well Podcast
Speaker 1Hello, my name is Stephanie. Welcome to the All Is Well podcast. My mission is to teach people the Word of God and emphasize its importance in their daily lives. I'm glad you decided to join me today. Let's get started. Welcome to episode 33.
Ask, Seek, Knock Principle
Speaker 1In this episode, I will teach on the importance of believing what you are praying for, and if we let doubt get in the way, then it prevents our prayers from being answered. Let's dive in. Let's turn on over to our Bibles, to Matthew, chapter 7, verses 7 through 11. Verse 7, it reads Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds. And to him who knocks, it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son ask for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he ask for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father, who is in heaven, give good things to those who ask him?
Speaker 1So, as we read these verses, it's saying to come to the throne room of grace, come and ask God for what we need with confidence. It says to keep asking. Don't just come one time with your prayer request. It didn't get answered, and so you don't pray and you leave it at that. It never got answered. God didn't hear me. But it doesn't say in the word to only pray one time. It says to keep asking, keep seeking and keep knocking. When we keep asking, we will get our answer. When we keep seeking, we will find what we're looking for. When we keep knocking, the door will be opened. If we don't ask, we will not get our answer. If we don't seek, we will not find. If we don't knock, the door will never be opened for us. And then if we look back at verse 8, it says Jesus is saying when you pray, it'll be open, it'll be given to you. All you have to do is believe. And then I like what he says at the end. He says if you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father, who is in heaven, give good things to those who ask him? So if parents can give good gifts to the children, he's saying how much more can I give you what you need? So if it's healing in your body. He's got that for you. If it's wisdom, understanding, guidance, direction, whatever it is, god will give you what you ask for.
Faith, Mountains and Fig Trees
Speaker 1Now let's go on over to Matthew, chapter 21. Matthew, chapter 21, verses 18 through 22. Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry. This is Jesus. And seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it and found nothing on it but leaves and said to it Let no fruit grow on you ever again. Immediately, the fig tree withered away. So we know here that whenever Jesus spoke to the fig tree and he said Let no fruit grow on you ever again, what happened right away? Did it grow fruit? No, because he didn't speak that. He said let no fruit grow on you ever again. So then, immediately, the fig tree withered away Verse 20,. And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying how did the fig tree wither away so soon? So Jesus answered and said to them Assuredly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also, if you say to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea, it will, will be done, and whatever things you ask in prayer, believing you will receive. So the disciples saw what jesus did and they wanted to know more about it. They marveled that whenever he spoke to that fig tree it happened.
Speaker 1And it shows you here that our words are powerful what we speak does come to pass. So Jesus says this is the same for you too, this is the same for you and I. And he says if you have faith, you have to have faith. When you're asking God for things, when you're believing for healing in your body, you have to have faith. You need that. And he says do not doubt. When you doubt, it cancels it out. You're not believing.
Speaker 1What is doubt? Well, here are some definitions of doubt. Doubt means a lack of confidence to consider, unlikely to call into question the truth of to be uncertain. So when you're praying and you throw in some doubt, I believe for my healing, I do want this job. But you're saying, and you're believing for those things, but then you're putting doubt in there, you're calling into question the truth of who God is, what he can do for you. You're lacking confidence in the work of God. When you're lacking confidence in the work of God and what he can do in your life, then it's not going to come to pass. So that's why Jesus says when you have faith, do not doubt, but come to me and believe. So then we need to have faith and do not doubt.
Speaker 1And he says you will not only do what was done to the fig tree so you can do that when you speak, then that fig tree will die, but also, if you say to this mountain, anything that is big in your life, anything that you want to be removed, that is bothering you, that shouldn't be there, he says speak to it and say be removed and be cast into the sea.
Speaker 1When you do this, it will be done and whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. It doesn't say God, if you want this in my life, keep it here. It doesn't say anything like that. It says if you say to this mountain, if you, if he said the word if, because if you don't say it, it's not going to happen If you say to this mountain be removed and be cast into the sea, you have to do that. No one else is going to do that. He says if you say to this mountain be removed and be cast into the sea, see, you have to do that. No one else is going to do that. He says if you say it, then it will be done. It's done and whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. So it already says in this word that you will receive that when you pray and you believe, and you do not doubt that you will receive. But you can't base that off of I asked God before or I needed help and I didn't get it. You can't base it off of one situation or one circumstance or what you heard from a friend or a neighbor.
Speaker 1What does the word of God say? You have to cling onto the word of God and if you need more faith, you need to feed yourself more with the word of God. If you have too much doubt in you and too many people around you that are speaking negative to you, that don't have the word of God, then it's going to be hard for you to speak in faith if you're filled with so much doubt. So get in the word every day. Meditate on these scriptures, find out what God says about these things. Make sure that you're listening to encouraging messages throughout the week that will help you in your faith. Walk with God and watch the words that you speak, I'm believing for healing in my body, but then, right after that, you cancel it by saying I always get this cold every year or I'm always sick when I eat this type of food. You just canceled out what you just prayed Thank God for your healing. Thank God that he's already done it for you. You have to believe when you pray.
The Power of Persistence
Speaker 1Now let's go on over to Luke, chapter 11, verses 5 through 8. And he said to them which of you shall have a friend and go to him at midnight and say to him friend, lend me three loaves, for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey and I have nothing. So if the person stopped right there and said, okay, he cannot give what I'm asking for because he's already sleeping, and then walk on his way, then he won't receive what he was needing. But if we continue to read, it says in verse 8, I say to you, though, he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will rise and give him as many as he needs. So he didn't just ask him one time, he kept asking, he was persistent. So it says here in the Bible that when we pray, be persistent, keep asking, keep believing, no matter how long it takes. Keep believing. Strengthen your faith.
Coming Boldly to God's Throne
Speaker 1Now let's go to Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 16. In Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 16, it reads Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. So it says let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace. Whatever we're asking God, come boldly. He wants to hear from us, he listens to us, he hears us. Don't believe the lies of the enemy or other people when they tell you that God doesn't listen to you. God hasn't heard you. God's not going to give you what you're asking for. No, god is not like that. It says let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace. God is there for us. He wants to hear from us. He's listening.
Closing and Salvation Prayer
Speaker 1Don't think that your prayer requests are too small, that God has greater things to concentrate on. God is not like that. He can do anything and everything. So it doesn't matter how small that you think your request is, or how silly or how big it is. God can handle it all. He wants to hear from you, he wants to help you, he wants to guide you. He wants to lead you, you. He wants to help you. He wants to guide you. He wants to lead you. So keep persisting and keep asking God for the things that you're believing for, and get alone with God and seek Him every day. Know His will. What are you believing for in your life? What is it that you're seeking for that you need from the Lord? Show Him how serious you are and don't believe the lies of the enemy. Don't let Him stop you in your tracks. Keep going and keep pushing forward, and so what I would recommend for you to do is to spend that time alone with God, meditate on the word of God and, whatever you need, whatever you're asking for, keep believing and being persistent, and your prayers will be answered. So if this episode helped you in any way, share it with a friend or family member and stay tuned for the next episode.
