Jesus took five loaves and two fish and fed thousands. What small thing in your life needs His blessing to multiply?
When the disciples faced a hungry crowd of over 5,000 people, they saw only scarcity and suggested sending everyone away to find food. Jesus, however, saw an opportunity for a miracle. "They do not need to go away," He said. "You give them something to eat." This contrast between human and divine thinking reveals how God approaches our seemingly impossible situations.
The miracle of multiplication teaches us that God doesn't just give us enough to get by—He provides abundance. After blessing the meager provisions, not only was everyone fed until satisfied, but twelve baskets of leftovers remained! This pattern appears throughout Scripture, from God's promise to Abraham ("multiplying I will multiply you") to Malachi's assurance that God will "pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it." Our words matter in this process too. Speaking faith and gratitude rather than lack and limitation creates space for God's abundance to flow.
Are you living with a scarcity mindset that limits what God wants to do in your life? Place what little you have in His hands and watch as He transforms it into more than enough. Your perspective will shift from "I never have enough" to "God always provides abundance." Subscribe now to continue exploring how God's principles of blessing and multiplication can transform every area of your life.
Welcome to All Is Well Podcast
Speaker 1Hello, my name is Stephanie. Welcome to the All Is Well podcast. My mission is to teach people the Word of God and emphasize its importance in their daily lives. I'm glad you decided to join me today. Let's get started. Welcome to episode 39.
Speaker 1In this episode we are going to learn about how Jesus fed the 5,000 by blessing the bread and how he can do that for us in our lives. Let's dive in, let's turn it over to our B boat, to a deserted place by himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities. And when Jesus went out, he saw a great multitude and he was moved with compassion for them and healed their sick. When it was evening, his disciples came to him saying this is a deserted place and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food. But Jesus said to them they do not need to go away, you give them something to eat. And they said to him we have here only five loaves and two fish. He said Bring them here to me. So right here.
Speaker 1There are two ways to look at this situation. You have one way where the disciples said it's already late. These people need to eat. So we need to send them their way so they can get food for their own families, and there's nothing wrong with that. They were thinking of them, that they needed to get fed. But Jesus' response is different. Jesus said they do not need to go away. You give them something to eat. So for Jesus that was easy. That was his response. So you see how his response, in his way of feeding the people, is different from the disciples. So in our thinking we need to elevate our thinking to God's level. It may seem impossible, but that's when he's able to use that situation and we can see how he can move.
Speaker 1In verse 17, it says and they said to him we have here only five loaves and two fish. He said Bring them here to. So if we look here, that is our keyword here. And he took the five loaves and the two fish and, looking up to heaven, he blessed. So if we look here, that is our keyword here Jesus. He blessed the food. And what happened to the food? It multiplied where he was able to give enough for every single family that was there. So he blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples and the disciples gave to the disciples and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained, so they had some left over. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children. So it does say five thousand men, but there were a whole lot more than five thousand because this number did not include the women and children. So if we go back, what did they have at the very beginning? All they had was five loaves of bread and two fish. That's all they had. So they had more, way more than 5,000 people together to feed with just that small amount.
Speaker 1But that was not impossible for God. He didn't say you know what? You're right, we don't have enough. This is just enough for us. He didn't say that at all. God doesn't think that way. He said you know what? I'm going to bless this. So he blessed the food, and there was more than enough. Every family got fed, every family was able to eat. And he did that. He blessed it.
Speaker 1Now it reminds me of a scripture in Malachi and God is a God who is the God of the overflow, he is the God of the abundance. So he's not a God that gives you just enough or just a little to get by. God doesn't work that way. God doesn't operate that way. He will give you more than enough till it's overflowing. So let's go over to Malachi.
Speaker 1So Malachi, chapter 3, verse 10. So this part is in regards to the tithes and the offering, when we give that over to God. So it says bring all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. And try me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such a blessing that there will not be enough room to receive it. Do you see there? That's the same thing with the bread that was left over. God, he gives us so much more that there's not enough room to receive it. That's an overflow, that's an abundance. That's who God is. He doesn't give you just a little bit, he doesn't give you. So that way you'll have just enough. He gives you more than enough till the overflow. That's who he is.
Speaker 1Let's go to Mark. So in Mark, chapter 6, verse 39, it's the same story, but with this one we have a little bit more information. So in verse 39,. It reads Then he commanded them to make them all sit in groups on the green grass. So they sat down in ranks, in hundreds and in fifties, and when he had taken the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves and gave them to his disciples to set before them, and the two fish he divided among them all so they all ate and were filled. Every single person ate. There wasn't a group that did not eat and they took up 12 baskets full of fragments of the fish. Now, those who had eaten the loaves were about 5,000 men.
Speaker 1But do you see that God multiplies? He multiplies what we have. And we also need to remember and to take into account the words that we speak. We shouldn't be saying, well, I don't have enough, I can't do this, I'm always lacking. The words that we speak either produce life or they produce death. And so when we speak things like I'm always lacking, I never have enough, that's death right there, because you're speaking those things over your situation. You need to speak life over your situation, even if you don't see it. You need to have faith and say thank you, god for supplying all my needs. Thank you, god, that I have more than enough. He's the one that multiplies, he gives us more than enough. Remember, not just barely getting by. And so let's look at some scriptures that verify that.
Speaker 1Let's turn to Hebrews, chapter 6, verse 13. So in Hebrews, chapter 6, verse 13,. For when God made a promise to Abraham because he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself, saying Surely, blessing, I will bless you and multiplying, I will multiply you. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. So what did God tell him? He said Surely, blessing, I will bless you and multiplying, I will multiply you. God is also telling you that he's saying surely, I will bless you and put your name there, and multiplying, I will multiply you. That's what God does. He blesses us and multiplies, not just adds to it multiplies having more than enough.
Speaker 1Let's go over to Psalm, chapter 107, verse 38. So in Psalm 107, verse 38, he also blesses them and they multiply greatly, and he does not let their cattle decrease. So, whatever you have, he doesn't let it decrease. He blesses you and he multiplies you. But how greatly Speak that over your life Say thank you, god, that you're blessing me, you're multiplying my family and you do not let anything that I have decrease. Pray that over yourself. Pray that over your family. Know that it's God who blesses and multiplies.
Speaker 1If you don't know who God is, if you don't know the promises of God and you're not experiencing this, then you're going to think that that's the way it should be, that God's teaching you a lesson, that you need to experience these things. But that's not the way that it is. Don't let the enemy deceive you into thinking that you should be stuck in that place that you're in. You need to receive God's blessing. You need to receive who God is, know who he is and understand the will of God that he has for your life. Understand these things that he has, and so he wants to bless us and multiply us. But if it's hard for you to know that and to understand that, read the word of God. Spend time in it day and night, so that way you can see this belongs to me. I am a child of God. I don't want to be living the way that I'm living, even if it is good. You know that God can keep taking you higher and higher. There's more things that he has for his children. He wants us to keep growing. He multiplies the work of our hands.
Speaker 1Here's another verse in Proverbs, chapter 10, verse 22. The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. Proverbs, chapter 10, verse 6. Blessings are on the head of the righteous, verse 7. The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
Speaker 1And in Proverbs, you'll see, it compares the wicked to the righteous, and so you need to see what side that you're on, or what side do you want to be on. Then you can see the blessing that the righteous have, and then you can see where the wicked stand, and it doesn't look good for them. You can also see in Proverbs, chapter 10, verse 16, the labor of the righteous leads to life, the wages of the wicked to sin. Do you see the difference there? It's not good for the wicked, but it's good for the righteous. In verse 30, the righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not inhabit the earth, verse 31,. The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut out. And it goes on and on. This is another good one.
Speaker 1Proverbs, chapter 10, verse 11. The mouth of the righteous is a well of life. To remember what I said a couple minutes ago. The words that we speak are important. It says here but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. Nothing good comes from the mouth of the wicked.
Speaker 1So what you can do is read Proverbs and determine am I living as a righteous person or as a wicked person? It's not that you want to be wicked, but if you see the things that are happening to them, you're like well, that's happening to me too. No, I want to be this. I'm God's child, I have his blessing. He's multiplying my life. So what I would recommend for you to do is to read this chapter in Mark and Matthew and recognize how Jesus fed the 5,000 with the little that they had, and yet he was able to feed them all and their families and still have more than enough left over. And know that that's the God who we serve, that is the God who multiplies, that is the God who has more than enough for us. That is the God who has not forgotten us at all. So know that's who he is. Remember that God has not forgotten you. God loves you so much. You are at the forefront of his mind, but you have to know who he is. You have to know that's what he offers. You have to know who he is and you have to know what belongs to you.
