What if the most misunderstood book in the Bible began with a blessing and a personal invitation to draw near? We open Revelation with steady, careful reading through chapters 1–3 and let Jesus’ own words lead us: a blazing vision of the risen Christ, and seven letters that diagnose the soul of the church with both tenderness and truth. You’ll hear why John’s vision matters for ordinary life, how the lampstands and stars anchor the church under Christ’s care, and what it means to “hear” and “keep” the words that promise life.

We walk through each letter with clarity—Ephesus’ lost love, Smyrna’s faithful suffering, Pergamum’s creeping compromise, Thyatira’s unchecked corruption, Sardis’ hollow reputation, Philadelphia’s open door, and Laodicea’s lukewarm comfort. Along the way, we highlight what Jesus commends and where he calls for repentance, not to shame but to restore. The images become practical: a sword from his mouth as the searching Word, eyes like fire that see through pretense, and the open door that no one can shut. We speak plainly about the book of life, the crown of life, and the promises to those who overcome—hidden manna, a new name, a pillar in God’s temple, and a seat with Christ on his throne.

If you’ve felt intimidated by Revelation, this conversation brings it close to heart. We make space for reflection, offering simple steps to return to your first love, identify quiet compromises, and hold fast with hope. The end times theme is not a fear trigger but a faith anchor: Jesus stands among his churches, knocks at the door, and invites renewed zeal. Listen, share with a friend who needs courage, and let these letters shape how you love, endure, and overcome today.

Mission And Study Plan

SPEAKER_00

Hello, my name is Stephanie. Welcome to the All Is Well Podcast. My mission is to teach people the Word of God and emphasize its importance in their daily lives. I'm glad you decided to join me today. Let's get started. In this episode, we are going to discuss the book of Revelation. So Revelation is the last book in the Bible of the New Testament. It is basically about end times prophecy. So we are going to start at the very beginning of Revelation chapter 1, verse 1. So we're going to learn and study this together. So for this especially, I would like for you to get your Bible out. This is not just something that you lay off to the side. You really want to think about this, what is happening here, what is occurring here, and the book of Revelation. So let's get started. Introduction and Benediction Revelation chapter one verse one. The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants, things which must shortly take place, and he sent and signified it by his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and to keep those things which are written in it, for the time is near. Greeting the seven churches, John, to the seven churches which are in Asia. Grace to you and peace from him who is and was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To him who loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and has made us kings and priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever, amen. Behold, he is coming with clouds, who is Jesus, and every eye will see him, even when they who pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of him, even so amen. Verse eight. Remember the words in red are what Jesus spoke. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, says the Lord, who is and was and who is to come, the Almighty. Vision of the Son of Man I John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmus, for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice as a trumpet saying, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, and what you see write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia, to Ephesus, to Smyrna, Peragamus, to Thirta, to Ceradus, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea. Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me, and having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands one like the son of man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. So he saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven golden lampstands, not only did he see those lampstands, he saw one like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet, and girded about the chest with a golden band. So he had a garment and a band, and his head and hair were white like wool. Imagine the hair how it is, as white as snow and his eyes like a flame of fire. His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and his voice as the sound of many waters. Think of how that's telling you how strong and powerful his voice is. He had in his right hand seven stars. Out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword, and his countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. What it reminds me here when it says, Out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword. In the Bible it says that the Bible is sharper than any two-edged sword. That's what it's telling me here, that out of his mouth came out a two-edged sword, is like the Bible, how sharp it is. And his countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying to me, So this is Jesus that he saw. So if you ever wondered what Jesus looked like, this gives you a description of what he looked like. So I would take time to read that on your own and read that slowly and get that image in your mind. Then he says, Do not be afraid, I am the first and the last, I am he who lives and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of death. Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this, the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches. So remember at the very beginning, it said that there was that John saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of them he saw Jesus. With those seven golden lampstands, they represent the seven churches. And here in a minute, with those seven churches, John is going to write a letter to each of those churches. Let's continue. Now we're on to chapter two. So this one is titled The Loveless Church to the Angel of the Church of Ephesus. Right. And so this is all written in red here. So Jesus is telling this to John to write this down, to pay attention. So Jesus says to the Loveless Church, these things says he who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands. I know your work. So Jesus says, I am the one that's telling you this. He's saying, I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars, and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for my name's sake, and have not become weary. So it sounds like they did good. He listed the things that they did well. Then in verse four it says, Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Who's their first love? God, Jesus. Remember therefore, from where you have fallen, repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. But this you have that you hate the deeds of the nicotations, which I also hate. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Verse eight, this is the letter to the next church, the persecuted church, and to the angel of the church in Smyrna write, these things says the first and the last, who was dead and came to life. I know your works, tribulation, and poverty, but you are rich, and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. eleven He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death. twelve The next church the compromising church and to the angel of the church in Pergamus write These things says he who has a sharp two edged sword. I know your works and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is, and you hold fast to my name, and did not deny my faith even in the days in which Antipus was my faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. But so it tells you the good things that this church did, but in verse fourteen, but I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to weep things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicola Sheans, which think I hate. Repent, or else I will come to you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. So we can tell here that Jesus did not like the Nicola Sheans, that God did not like what they believed, what they stood for, they were coming against Jesus. And so when he saw this other church, they were doing those things. He says, You also have those who hold the doctrine of them, which I hate. He says, Repent. So yes, he's telling them the good things that the churches did, but then when he's telling them the things that they need to fix, he tells them to repent, ask for forgiveness, or else I will come to you quickly. Verse 17, he who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden matter to eat, and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows except him who receives it. And if some of this seems too difficult or it seems too wild for you, don't dismiss it. Just hear it and listen to it. Next, the corrupt church, verse 18, this is the next church, the fourth church, and to the angel of the church in Thy Tyra. These things says the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet like fine brass. Jesus says again, I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience, and as for your works, the last are more than the first. Nevertheless, I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess to teach and seduce my servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols, and I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed, I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am he who searches them minds and hearts, and I will give to each one of you according to your works. Now to you I say and to the rest in this church, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden, but hold fast what you have till I come, and he who overcomes and keeps my works until the end, to him I will give him power over the nations. Verse twenty seven, he shall rule them with a rod of iron, they shall be dashed to pieces, like the potter's vessels, as I also have received for my father, and I will give him the morning star. Verse 29, he who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches, the next church, the dead church, and to the angel of the church and Sardis right. And as I'm reading about these churches, the letters to these churches, don't disregard them. Also, I think it's good to note and to look into our lives. Yes, he talked about what they did good in the first part of the letter, but then after that, he told them what they needed to correct. And that's good for us to look at. We may be doing some good things, but what is some things that he's not pleased with that we need to repent of? And we can also compare our lives to these churches. What are some things here? Are we doing some of the things here that are listed that he is not pleased with? Now let's go over to the dead church, chapter three. And to the angel of the church and Sardis, right, these things says he who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your works, that you have a name, that you are alive, but you are dead. Be watchful and strengthen the things which remain that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard, hold fast and repent. So it's saying right here that this is a dead church. And it says, Remember how you have received and heard. He's telling to go back to the very beginning. Hold fast and repent. Therefore, if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments, and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the book of life, but I will confess his name before my father and before his angels. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Okay, so where it says in verse five, He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the book of life, but I will confess his name before my father and before his angels. So you want your name to be in the book of life. If your name is not in the book of life, you cannot enter heaven. So that's why it says here, if your name's in the book of life, God says, But I will confess his name before my father and before his angels, because his name's in there. You want your name to be in the book of life. Verse 7, the faithful church, and to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, These things says he who is holy, he who is true, he who has a key of David, he who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens. I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it, for you have a little strength, and have kept my word, and have not denied my name. Indeed, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say they are Jews and are not but lie. Indeed, I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you, because you have kept my command to persevere. I also will keep you from the hour of trial, which shall come upon the whole world to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold, I am coming quickly. Hold fast what you have that no one may take your crown. He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God, and I will write on him my new name. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Now to the last church, the lukewarm church, and to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans, write, These things says the Amen, the faithful and the true witness, the beginning of the creation of God. I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth. And this is something that we also need to remember for ourselves, and it also applies to us, where he says, I know your works that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, we shouldn't be lukewarm at all. It's like kind of following God, I kind of doing what he wants me to do, but then I sin over here a lot on the side, but then maybe I'll go to church. That's being lukewarm. Your foot's in the church, and then your other foot is living like the world. That's being lukewarm. God doesn't want you like that. He's saying this, oh, I could wish you were cold or hot, like either be serving me wholeheartedly, or just give yourself to the world. So then, because you are lukewarm, neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth. That doesn't give him a good taste. You're not fully dedicating your heart to him and committing yourself to him. So he's telling us, I will spit you out of my mouth. It's not just to the church, it's to us too. Because you say I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing, and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy for me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich, and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed, and anoint your eyes with I salve, that you may see as many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. It's telling us here when God is giving us instruction, okay, I need you to correct this in your life. I need you to fix this. He's saying, I do that to the ones that I love. I love you. Therefore, be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. So he's saying, Don't get discouraged because there's an area in your life that is not pleasing to me. He's saying, I want you to fix that. I want you to repent and come to me. So be zealous, be joyful. So it says, if anyone hears my voice and opens a door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he will come to me. To him who overcomes, I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. So I'm going to end it right there. So in Revelation, we read from chapters one through three. So when Jesus came to John and he said, I want you to write and see everything that I've shown you. And also he wanted him to write the letter to the seven churches. And so he's telling them things that he's pleased with and things that they need to correct because it's going to help them. Otherwise, they will not inherit the kingdom of God. It's also good for us to look at that in our lives. Yes, we may be doing some things that he's pleased with, but what about these other things? What are some things that we can refine in our lives? What are some things that we need to repent? He's not angry with us, but just like he says, I rebuke and chasten the ones that I love. So repent, be zealous, come to me, is what he's saying. Don't be scared of the book of Revelation. Yes, it's a lot. Just meditate on it. Revelation is not a book where you should just read very fast and go. It's something that you really want to think about. You really want to let it sink in and meditate on it and ask God to show you about it and to give you understanding on it. Because this is something that will happen on the earth. It will happen. It's going to happen. And it's important to know the book of Revelation. So if this episode helped you in any way, share it with a friend or a family member. Thank you for tuning in, and don't forget to tune in to the next episode. If you have not accepted Jesus into your life, say the salvation prayer with me. Heavenly Father, I admit that I have sinned. I repent. I believe in my heart you raised Jesus from the dead. I confess with my mouth Jesus is Lord and my Savior. Right now I receive forgiveness by the blood of Jesus. Come into my life. I am saved. In Jesus' name. Amen. I'm glad you prayed that salvation prayer. Make sure that you plug yourself into a spirit filled church and read the Word of God. Well, I hope you enjoyed the message and thank you for tuning in.
