So stay tuned to the end of the episode to find out how to acquire it. So let's get started.
Psalm 34 Begins With Praise
SPEAKER_00So in today's episode, we're going to go over Psalm 34. And the title for that is The Happiness of Those Who Trust in God. As we read Psalm 34, we are going to see how God wants to move in our life and the things that He's requiring us to do. So let's dive in. Turn to your Bibles to Psalm 34. And we're going to start at verse 1. So in verse 1 it reads, I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord. The humble shall hear it and be glad. So what this Psalm starts off with, it's with praising God. It's with blessing his name. When we're going to seek the Lord, the first thing that we need to do instead of laying out our request is to praise him, is to bless his name. And then in verse three, O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. Verse four, I sought the Lord and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
God Hears And Delivers Fear
SPEAKER_00The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear him and delivers them. So let's go back to the beginning of verse four. It reads, I sought the Lord and he heard me. So think about it. God saying, When we seek him, God will hear us. It's not about, I don't know if he heard me, he probably wants me to go through this thing. Maybe he will answer it, maybe he won't. That's not how God works. It says here, I sought the Lord and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears. So anything that you need deliverance from, anything that you need God to fix for you, to handle for you, to take care of for you, God can do it. But he will only do it if we let him. If we don't ask him to come into our lives and remove things and to fix things, then he won't come in. We have to give him permission. He is a gentleman. He's not going to just charge his way into our lives. He's not the devil. That's what the devil does. The devil comes to steal, kill, and to destroy. He doesn't ask us and say, Hey, can I take your family member away from you? Can I destroy your home? He doesn't even ask. He doesn't. He just does whatever he wants. But God is different. He wants us to ask him. He wants us to say, God, take me away from this. Deliver me. And he will do it. That's who he is. And then it goes on with the poor man. It says the poor man cried out and the Lord heard him. God hears us and saved him too out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear him and delivers them. God delivers us, he's there with us, he wants us to be in a better place. Don't think because you're going through something rough or you're suffering that it should be that way, or God wants you there. Because as we read here, when we seek the Lord, He hears us and delivers us. That's what He did here. Just
The Dumpster Picture Of Suffering
SPEAKER_00think about this example. This might be a crazy example, but just think about this. Let's say if someone just threw you into a dumpster. Are you going to sit in that dumpster and think, well, I got thrown in here. This is probably what God wants me to do, where He wants me to be, so I need to sit here. Are you going to do that? Probably not, because I wouldn't. What are we going to do? We are going to do everything we can to get out of that dumpster. Why? Because it's not a place that we need to be. It's disgusting. It smells. And there is trash, a lot of trash in that dumpster, and probably more that will come in. So think of it in the same way. Not to say that your life is a dumpster. Not to say that at all. But in the same way, when we are going through something, we can cry out to God, reach out to God, and say, God, please deliver me out of this. Give me direction. Give me wisdom. Give me guidance. And He will. Know that God will lead us into the right place. If we lose our way somewhere, it doesn't mean that we need to stay there. It just means that we need to be redirected into where He wants us to go. Know where God wants you to go. If you think you're off, be like, God, am I in the right path? Is this what you want me to do? Lead me, direct me, show me, help me, deliver me. And He definitely will. And
Taste And See God’s Goodness
SPEAKER_00let's keep reading in verse eight. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is a man who trust in him. It's like we're experiencing the goodness of the Lord. And we've seen it with our eyes how good the Lord is. And blessed is that man who trust in him. Verse nine, O fear the Lord you his saints, there is no want to those who fear him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger. But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. When it says here there is no want to those who fear him, it doesn't mean that you don't want anything. You do. It's just that the Lord already provided them to you. Cause it says, but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. When I'm spending time with the Lord, when I am reading the Word of God, I'm seeking Him. I want Him in my life. When that is the case, and I put myself in that position, then God says that I will not lack any good thing. Because if I'm seeking God, I'm seeking the good things. I'm seeking the things that He wants to happen in my life. Then I will not lack any good thing. And another
Speaking Life And God-Given Authority
SPEAKER_00thing that I want to bring up from earlier about praying. God, at the beginning of the creation of the world, He spoke life into existence. And when He did that, the earth was created, day and night came, things were born into existence. And God has given us that same power and authority, just as He did with Adam and Eve and Noah and for you and I. But if you and I don't know what we have, then we're gonna think that we're meant to be where we're at when we're struggling. We're not meant to struggle. So if we look onto Genesis, in Genesis chapter 1, verse 28, then God blessed them and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth. How do you have dominion over something if you're not speaking to it? God requires us to speak. We're not just here living, we're speaking things into existence. He gave the same command to Noah in Genesis chapter nine verse one. So God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, and in all that move on the earth, and all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. So God gave Noah dominion too. There is power, there is authority that He's given us. And let's go on over to Deuteronomy 30 verse 19, so we can get a better idea of what I'm talking about. In Deuteronomy 30, 19, it reads, I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life. That speaking. But when we allow God to move into our lives and switch things and take care of things, and we want the blessing in our life, then he will move. And that is tied to what we were reading about how when we're seeking the Lord and He hears us and He delivers us, we are speaking, we are asking Him to come in. That's like the blessing, not the curse. Because if He wanted to let us go through all these troubles and just stay in them, then why do we need to seek Him? Why do we need to pray? We pray so we get out of it. We pray because when we pray, things get better. So think about that. Now let's continue on verse 11. It says,
Fear Of The Lord And Your Words
SPEAKER_00Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of the Lord. What is the fear of the Lord? The fear of the Lord is not to be scared or afraid. That's not what it's talking about here. The fear of the Lord is to have a reverence, to have an honor, to have a respect for the Lord. Then it says, Who is a man who desires life and loves many days that he may see good? It's asking you a question. Do you desire life? Do you want to live a long life? Do you want to see many days in your life? And do you want to see good? If you said yes, which I'm sure that you did, then it goes on to say, okay, now this is how you will achieve it. In verse 13, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. So it's the words that we speak that entrap us, that keep us where we're at. And let's look to see what is the full definition of deceit. So the full definition of deceit is the action or practice of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth. So God doesn't want us to lie. God is a God of truth. God doesn't lie to us. He doesn't tell us one thing that he's actually meaning something else, or he's gonna forget about it. He doesn't lie to us. He doesn't want our lips to speak deceit, but he wants our lips to represent the truth, to represent him. Then it says, depart from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it. So when we do that, that's having a reverence and honor and respect for the Lord. And by doing this, it's saying that you'll have a long life and you'll see good in your life. It's that simple. Because if you think about it the opposite way, if you're speaking evil, are you going to see good? No. If you're lying and misrepresenting people in God, if you're going to evil, are you going to see the goodness of the Lord in your life? No. If you're seeking chaos, are you going to seek peace? No. So God has given us instruction and wisdom and guidance. Hey, this is where I need you to go. When you do that and you have the fear of the Lord, then you'll see good days in your life and you'll live a long time.
God Stays Near The Brokenhearted
SPEAKER_00Verse 15, the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry out and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. So just because you're going through something doesn't mean you're always going to. God says that he will deliver us out of them all. Not some of them, but all of them. So as we can see here and as we've read in Psalm thirty four, when we cry out to God and we ask for deliverance, He's doing that, He's saving us. Verse twenty, He guards all his bones, not one of them is broken. God is our protector. twenty one, evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. The Lord redeems the soul of his servants, and none of those who trust in him shall be condemned. So in Psalm thirty four, it's showing us a lot. It's showing us that when we praise the Lord and when we bless his name, and when we seek the Lord, He will hear us, and He will deliver us from our troubles, from our fears, anything that we're going through. He will deliver us and He will lift those off of our shoulders because that is who He is. But we have to seek Him, we have to ask Him. And then it says to you know, the Lord is good. Know that He's good. Appreciate Him, love Him, read the Word. And the more that you read the Word, you'll see how good that He is and what He's done in your life and the things that He's about to do. And if we let Him and if we allow Him to come in like He wants to, then we'll experience the goodness of the Lord. So
Meditate On Psalm 34 Daily
SPEAKER_00what I would recommend is to meditate on Psalm 34, and that means to read Psalm 34 and not read it fast, but take your time in reading it, let it sink in and seek the Lord on a daily basis. Think about any area in your life where you need him to clear up, where you need his help, where you need his guidance, and ask him if there's something that you want him to remove from your life, ask him to do that. If there's anything that you need an answer to, ask him for those answers, ask him for help. He will give you those things. Have faith in who he is and believe in who he is.
