Your words are doing more than describing your life. They’re pointing your faith somewhere, shaping what you expect, and setting the direction of your days. I’m Stephanie, and in Episode 53 of the All Is Well Podcast, I slow down in Genesis 1 to notice something easy to miss: God speaks first, then “it was so.” That pattern is not just about creation, it’s about the power God puts in speech and what it means that we’re made in His image and likeness.

From there, we get practical with Scripture. Joshua 1:8 shows why the Word of God can’t stay on the page if we want it to change our habits, our mindset, and our outcomes. We talk about meditating day and night so the Bible becomes something we actually say, not just something we read. Then Matthew 12 brings a hard truth: out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. If your default words are harsh, hopeless, or fearful, that’s a signal to change what you’ve been storing inside.

We also walk through Proverbs on being snared by the words of your mouth, and we challenge common negative confessions like “nothing good ever happens to me” or “I always get sick.” Finally, I point to Jesus speaking to the fig tree as a clear picture of authority, faith, and conviction, then I close in prayer and invite anyone who wants to receive Christ to pray along with me.

If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find this Bible-based teaching on the power of words and speaking life.

Welcome And Why Words Matter

SPEAKER_00

Hello, my name is Stephanie. Welcome to the All Is Well Podcast. My mission is to teach people the Word of God and emphasize its importance in their daily lives. I'm glad you decided to join me today. Let's get started. Welcome to episode 53. In this episode, we are going to talk about the words that we speak. Do you know that our words either speak life or death? So we're going to talk about what God wants us to speak. So let's get started.

Genesis Shows Speech Creates

SPEAKER_00

Let's turn over to our Bibles to Genesis chapter one. So in Genesis chapter one, it's the beginning of the creation of the earth. So this is when God started to create the earth. So we're gonna start with verse three. Then God said, Let there be light and there was light. So whenever God spoke that he wanted light, the light came about. Verse six, then God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. Thus God made the firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. Verse nine, then God said let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear. And it was so. eleven, then God said Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself on the earth. And it was so. And it was so. twenty, then God said, Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens. And so God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves. twenty four. Then God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind, cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth, each according to its kind, and it was so. So as you can see so far, whenever God spoke, when he wanted something to happen, before it would even happen, he would speak it and then it was created. He spoke, and then it was created. So now in verse twenty six, then God said, Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness, let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in his own image, and in the image of God he created him, male and female, he created them. So God created us in his image. He created us according to his likeness. So let's think about it. We are created in God's likeness. And at the beginning of the time, in the beginning of the world, the creation of the world, God spoke and then it happened. God spoke and it was created. So if we are made in the image of God, it's the same thing with our mouth. When we speak, we're creating things in the supernatural realm. We're creating things in the natural realm when we speak, because we're made in the image of God. So how do we do this? We're made in the image of God. So how do we get our minds and our heart ready to speak what God wants us to

Meditate On Scripture For Prosperity

speak? Let's go to Joshua chapter one verse eight. So in Joshua chapter one, verse eight, this book of law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it, for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Let's go back to the beginning. It says, This book of law shall not depart from your mouth. It says, Shall not depart from your mouth. So it's not just reading the Bible, we have to speak. And it goes in connection with the beginning of the Bible in Genesis, when God spoke, we're made in the likeness of God. And it says here in Joshua that we shall meditate on the Word of God, and it shall not depart from our mouth. But how can it come out of our mouth if it's not in our heart? It needs to be in there. So how do we do it? It says, But you shall meditate in it day and night, every day, to know the word of God, know what's in here, and then you're able to speak what the word of God says. So let's read more into

Your Heart Sets Your Vocabulary

SPEAKER_00

this. Let's turn to Matthew chapter twelve, verse thirty-three. In Matthew chapter twelve, verse thirty-three it reads, Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad. For a tree is known by its fruit, brought of vipers. How can you being evil speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. So let's stop that right there. It says, How can you being evil speak good things? If someone is evil, they don't have the word of God in them. So how can they bring forth good things? For it says, For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. That means that whatever you have put in your heart over and over again, that's what's going to come out of your mouth. If profanity comes out of your mouth, that's what you have in your heart. If kindness comes out of your mouth, that's what you have in your heart. If giving comes out of your mouth, that's what's in your heart. If blessing other people comes out of your mouth, that's what's in your heart. It's not about I have trouble with this and I have trouble with that. What are you putting in your heart? Then in verse thirty-five it says, A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give an account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. So this is saying too that we need to be careful with the words that we speak. They do matter. It says here in verse thirty seven, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. What are you saying? Are you speaking the word of God? Are you speaking against someone? Are you speaking against yourself?

Negative Confessions Become Snares

SPEAKER_00

So in Proverbs chapter six verse two it reads You are snared by the words of your mouth. You are taken by the words of your mouth. It's saying that you're trapped with the words that you speak. So if you're not speaking the word of God and you're speaking death rather than the life-giving words of God, it's going to trap you. And you're thinking, how will it trap me? Think of words like nothing good ever happens to me. I always get sick at this time of year. I always run out of money. I never have enough. Those words right now are trapping you. It says here you're snared by the words of your mouth. Because if you read the word of God, does God speak that way? No, He doesn't. If you have pain in your body, there's scriptures in the Word of God about healing. So you need to, like we said, like we read earlier, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. So if out of your mouth you're speaking defeat, you're speaking that you're always sick and you have pain in your body, then you need to fill your heart with scriptures of healing and read them over and over again. Meditate on them day and night, like it says in Joshua. Meditate on them, meditate on them, have that come out of your mouth rather than I'm in pain. Because when you're in pain, you're going to experience the pain. Have the healing works of Jesus work on your body. It can be on your mind too. I never think right. The word of God heals the mind. The word of God makes us think correctly. Proverbs is a book of wisdom, understanding in there. Read it, not just one time, but meditate on it. Do what it says every day. If not, anything that does not line up with the word of God will trap us where we're at. And just as we read, God said, like in Genesis, He made us humans in His likeness. When He spoke, He created the same thing with us. When we speak, we create. But we have to remember we need to speak the words of God because we want that to manifest. We want that to create. You know, there's angels here on the earth, so they can only move when we speak the words of God. If we speak anything that does not line up with the word of God, they can't move. So if we say I am sick, I'm always feeling this way, they can't move with that. There's no faith in that. God doesn't work in that. But if it's thank you, Jesus, by the blood of Jesus stripes, I'm healed. I know that you're working on me. God can work. Let's read some more scriptures.

Guard Your Heart Guard Your Mouth

SPEAKER_00

Let's go to Proverbs chapter 4, verse 23. And this reads, Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth and put perverse lips far from you. This is on wisdom, on what are you putting in your heart? It's important what you're putting in there. I know some people may say, We're adults, we can watch whatever we want, we can say whatever we want, and yes, you can. But we need to protect our heart. We need to protect and know what are we speaking, what are we giving life to? Are we speaking against our children, our family members, our own selves? What are we doing that's not allowing us to grow in the ways that God wants us to grow? Now let's go to Proverbs chapter 10, verse 11. And in this verse it reads, The mouth of the righteous is a well of life. Think of that. The mouth of the righteous. When you're with God, meditating on the word of God, your mouth is righteous. It is a well of life. You bring life whenever you speak. But violence covers the mouth of the wicked. They don't speak life. It's impossible for a wicked person to speak life. So violence covers their mouth. You need to decide which side do I want to be on. Now let's read an example of how Jesus did this while he was here on the earth.

Jesus And The Fig Tree

SPEAKER_00

Let's turn to Matthew chapter 21, verse 18. So in Matthew chapter 21, verse 18. Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry. And seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, Let no fruit grow on you ever again. Immediately the fig tree withered away. Do you see what our words can do? We're made in the image of God. And then when Jesus said, Let no fruit grow on you ever again, Jesus didn't doubt what he said. He knew that his words carried power and it carried authority. So immediately the fig tree didn't grow fruit, but it died, it withered away. So as you can see, the words, our mouth and what we speak will either trap us, will either bring life or death to a situation. Our words are powerful. He gave us a mouth, God gave us a mouth to speak life because we are made in the image and likeness of God. Just like at the very beginning where we discussed, where God spoke creation into the world, he spoke and then it was created. We are to do the same thing. But we can only do that if, like it says in Joshua, we meditate on the word day and night. Because out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Stress Reveals What Fills You

SPEAKER_00

And so what I want you to do is pay attention to the words that come out of your mouth. What comes out of your mouth. And especially when you're stressed or tired or something difficult happens, how do you react to that? Because when you're filling yourself with the word of God, even if you're stressed or tired or anything like that, you should still be speaking good out of your mouth. What are you speaking good out of your mouth? What's coming out of your mouth? And even when it's good, pay attention to those situations, pay attention to that. And then you can determine I don't like what I'm speaking. I need to line up my words more with the word of God. So if that's the case, spend more time in the word of God. Spend as much time. Have that hunger, have that desire to know who God is, to know the word of God.

Prayer Sharing And Salvation Invitation

SPEAKER_00

So before we go, I'm going to close in prayer. Thank you, God, for everyone that's listening right now. Thank you, God, that everyone will meditate on the Word of God day and night. And then when we speak, that the Word of God will come out of our mouth. And thank you, God, that we will speak life and we and we will not speak death into our situation. We will seek the Word of God for what we need in our lives. Thank you, God, that we are, that we hunger for your word. We thirst for your word. And thank you, God, for all that you're doing in our lives. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen. So if this message helped you in any way, share it with a friend or family member. And thank you for tuning in. If you have not accepted Jesus into your life, say the salvation prayer with me. Heavenly Father, I admit that I have sinned. I repent. I believe in my heart you raised Jesus from the dead. I confess with my mouth, Jesus is Lord and my Savior. Right now, I receive forgiveness by the blood of Jesus. Come into my life. I am saved. In Jesus' name. Amen. I'm glad you pray that salvation prayer. Make sure that you plug yourself into a spirit filled church and read the word of God. Well, I hope you enjoy the message and thank you for tuning in.
