Prosperity is one of those words that can feel loaded, awkward, or misunderstood. We’re cutting through the noise and going straight to the Bible to answer a simple question with big consequences: what does biblical prosperity actually mean? If you’ve ever felt guilty wanting “more,” or confused by teaching around money, blessing, and success, this conversation brings clarity and calm with Scripture-first truth.

We walk through Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1 to show how Christian prosperity is tied to meditating on God’s Word and living it out, not chasing a vibe. Then we zoom out with 3 John 1:2, where prospering is clearly described as “in all things” including your health and the condition of your soul. That’s a powerful reset for anyone who’s been measuring God’s goodness by a single number.

From there, we read Deuteronomy 28 and talk about blessings on obedience, favor in everyday life, and what it looks like to have “more than enough” with purpose, not pride. We also balance the conversation with wisdom from Proverbs about diligence, humility, and the danger of making riches the only goal, plus Jesus’ call to seek the kingdom first and live generously.

If you want a grounded, Bible-based view of prosperity that includes peace, stability, and faithful stewardship, press play. Subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find it. What’s one area of your life you’re believing God to help you prosper in?

Welcome And Mission

Hello, my name is Stephanie. Welcome to the All Is Well Podcast. My mission is to teach people the word of God and emphasize its importance in their daily lives. I'm glad you decided to join me today. Let's get started. Hello.

What Prosperity Really Means

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to episode 57. Do you know what prosperity is? Prosperity is more than just about money. Prosperity is actually involving health, peace, relationships, and it does involve money. Because most people often think about that prosperity only deals with money and that people just want to get rich. But the Bible tells us something a little bit different about prosperity. So in today's episode, we are going to dive deep into what the Bible says about prosperity. So let's dive in.

Why The Bible Mentions Prosperity

SPEAKER_00

And before we begin diving into the scripture, I did a search and in the New King James Version, there are over 100 references in the Bible in regards to the word prosperity. So this can be referred to as the word prosperous, prosperity, prospers, prospered, any one of those forms in regards to prosperity. In the New King James Version, there are over 100 mentions of this word in the Bible. So when you think about it in that way, that means that God is teaching us about prosperity, that He wants prosperity in our lives. And that is something as Christians that we need to know what prosperity is really about. So let's start off with the first scripture in the book of Joshua.

Joshua 1:8 And Daily Meditation

SPEAKER_00

Now in Joshua chapter one, verse eight, this book of law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it, for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. So what does it say here in this scripture? It's telling us to read the Bible. How often it's saying to meditate on it day and night, that's our second thing we need to do. Then it says when we do this, we will observe to do everything that is written in the Bible. When we do those things, then what will happen when we read the Bible and follow it? Then it says, For then you will make your way prosperous. Prosperous. Do you see that word in the Bible? It is saying in this scripture here is when we read the word of God, when we read the Bible and we meditate on it day and night, our lives will become prosperous. And then we will have good success. So the word of God and applying it to your life will bring prosperity. And prosperity is a good thing. So we need to also change our perspective and our outlook on prosperity and always think of what does the Bible actually say about prosperity? And if there is also a topic that you're confused about or are unsure about, always look at what does the Bible say about this topic? So let's continue.

Prosper In Health And Soul

SPEAKER_00

Let's go to 3rd John chapter 1, verse 2. It says, Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. So in this scripture here, it mentions the word prosper twice. He's saying, I pray that you may prosper in all things, that means in every single thing in your life, and be in health, just as your soul prospers. So it's saying that your soul should prosper, your body should prosper, every single area of your life should prosper. That would mean your relationships, your friendships, your work relationships, your relationships with your family, anyone. It says that is what prosperity is. It's prospering in all things, it's doing well in all things, not just about money. Now let's go to another

Deuteronomy 28 Blessings For Obedience

SPEAKER_00

one. Let's head on over to Deuteronomy chapter 28. And in Deuteronomy chapter 28, we're gonna start verse 1. And I'm going to read all the way from verse 1 all the way up until verse 14. And so this section in the Bible is titled Blessings on Obedience. So when you obey God, how do you know how to obey Him? When you read the Word of God, when you read the Word of God, you'll do what He says. When you do what He says, then blessings overtake you. Then you're also living in prosperity. Everything will go well for you, it'll prosper. So let's read what some of those things are. Let's start in chapter twenty eight, verse one. Now it shall come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all of his commandments, which I command you today. And so what we were talking about earlier in Joshua chapter one, verse eight, it was talking about this here, when we meditate on the word of God every day, it's connected to this, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth, and all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God. So in Joshua 1 8, if we think about that verse again, it says that when you meditate on the book of the law day and night, it says then you will make your way prosperous, because you're going to observe what's in there. You will make your way prosperous. And you're thinking, How? Well, now it's going to talk about all of those specific things. So verse 3, blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. It's saying, No matter where you live, you will be blessed. That's prosperity. 4. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground, and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle, and the offspring of your flocks. So your body, which you're producing, everything that you own, everything grows in your hands, it'll be blessed. Verse 5, blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Verse 6, blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. So that's saying that you will be blessed when you head out the door in the morning. And when you come back in, you will be blessed when you're inside your home and when you're outside your home, no matter where you will go. Verse seven, the Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face. The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. Verse eight, the Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses, and in all to which you set your hand, and he will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. So in verse eight, it's talking about a storehouse. So storehouse, you're holding things. So God says that he will command the blessing on you and your storehouses, that you're gonna have more than enough. You're gonna have plenty. And everything that you set your hand on will be blessed, will prosper. And he will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. So whatever God gives you, you're going to do well in that area. You're going to prosper. Verse nine, the Lord will establish you as a holy people to himself, just as he has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in his ways, then all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. That's favor, and that's living in prosperity and in living in God's way. People will begin to notice. Verse eleven, and the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. The Lord will open to you his good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. There it mentions again that God will bless the work of your hand. There's no lack in any of the scriptures that we've read. It's just blessing after blessing. It says, You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. When people often think about prosperity, that it's just about money and that's it, and so they shun away from it. One of the things that Jesus does, he's a generous giver. And so if we don't have enough financially, how can we take care of other people? When we're reading here, it says, you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. It's saying that not that you just barely have enough for yourself. It says, I want you to live in the land of prosperity where not only will you just have enough for your family and maybe a little bit extra to give to your neighbor. No, you will have so much and be in abundance that you will be able to lend to many nations. That's who God is. We often limit ourselves by our thinking and by what we see, but we need to look into the word of God and see what God want me to have, what does his word say? Verse 13, and the Lord will make me the head and not the tell. You shall be above only and not be beneath. If you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. So it's his here, I will make you the head and not the tell. Isn't that being prosperous, doing well? God wants you when you're at work. He wants you to be the head, he wants you to move up high. He doesn't want you at the bottom. Yes, you may start there, but he wants you up. You shall be above only. He wants you to be above and not be beneath. That's not where he's called you and I. So know what God wants. And verse 14 so you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day to the right or to the left to go after other gods to serve them. That's prosperity. And there was some money in there, but it wasn't all about money. It wasn't at all. As you can see there, there was no lack. And that is what God is saying. It's blessings on obedience, it's reading the word, obeying him, following him. That's what he says. I want you to be there. This is what I want for you. Think about your children. Do you want them to be at the bottom? Whether it be at school, when they go to the workforce, in sports, no. You want them to rise up, you want them to do well in everything that they do. So if that's the case, that you want that for your children, then how much more does God want that for you?

Curses Of Disobedience And Alignment

SPEAKER_00

So if we look a little bit on the opposite of that, on curses on disobedience, if you look here still in Deuteronomy chapter 28, verse 19. And this is when you when someone doesn't obey the Lord, it says, Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out. That's not prosperity right there. That's not being blessed right there. That is a curse. You shall not have to worry about leaving your home and something bad happening to you every single day. And when you come home, you shouldn't have to worry about it being chaotic and things going wrong for you all the time, no matter where you're at. That is a curse. That's what God says right here in the Bible. And think about how do you want your life to be, even if you just look at that right there. Do you want to be blessed when you go in and go out of your home? Or do you want to be cursed when you go in and when you go out of your home? I hope you chose blessed because I would too. That is a part of prosperity. Because when you change your perspective on what prosperity is and blessed is, then you can look. Am I living the blessed life? Am I living a prosperous life? If I'm not, what is it that I need to change? What is it that I need to adjust to become in alignment with God's plan for my life? Because I don't want to be cursed. I want to be living in prosperity. I want to be blessed. That's where I want to be. I want God's favor over my life. I want Him to show me, to lead me, to guide me, protect me. I want the goodness of the land. Because, like what I mentioned before in Isaiah is that God's ways and his thoughts are higher than mine. So let's read a little bit more, let's read a few more scriptures on this topic.

Wealth Wisdom Diligence And Giving

SPEAKER_00

In Proverbs chapter ten, verse twenty two, the blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. There is no sorrow to being rich God's way. It's a blessing. It's financially, it's spiritually, it's physically, it's mentally, it's in every way possible. Also too, in Proverbs chapter ten verse four, he who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He's telling us to work. Deuteronomy eight verse eighteen You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Psalm one verses one through three. Blessed is a man who walks not in the council of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seed of scoffers, but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither, and all that he does he prospers. How does someone prosper? By delighting in God's word, by following it, meditating it. It's just like Joshua one eight. Matthew chapter six verse thirty three, but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Luke chapter six thirty eight, give, and it will be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap, for with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. Proverbs twenty two verse four The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life. Proverbs twenty eight twenty, a faithful man will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished. So on that type of scripture, don't get confused. It's not saying that God doesn't want us to be rich, because just as we read right here in Proverbs chapter ten, verse twenty-two, it says that the blessing of the Lord makes one rich. And then it says also too in verse four, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. But what is the difference about this verse? It says, But whoever hastens to be rich, that means that their only focus is to be rich. But at the beginning of this too, it says a faithful man will abound with blessings. So the faithfulness of it, being diligent in the work of the Lord will get you there. Isaiah one nineteen, if you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land. And Jeremiah twenty nine eleven, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. So what I would recommend for you to do is to study these scriptures on prosperity and on the blessing of the Lord, and to have a different perspective on it, and to ask the Holy Spirit to lead you and to guide you in this area. Because to be prosperous, there's nothing wrong with it at all. Just as we read in Scripture today, it is something that God desires for us because it causes us to flourish, it causes us to rise up, it causes us to be placed in places where God wants us to be.
