“A loneliness of humans” Yes, the collective noun for humans that was introduced to me this weekend was ‘a loneliness of humans’.

In this episode I share why this serves as such a provocation for us and fits perfectly within the freedom to be human concept.

We’re wired to be connected - from living longer, to giving back, having a sense of purpose and our health is improved when we are connected to those around us.

But sadly, more people than ever are feeling alone despite technology and population density.

Let’s put the social in social media and share your thoughts on how you feel about a ‘loneliness of humans’ via my pages on LI and/ or Instagram

I'm Karina Rook a success coach, helping women experience their best health, wealth, happiness, and performance through holistic wellness. We'll discover and delight in connection to all things mind, body, soul, and beyond. This is the place for exploration, expansion, and enlightenment. When it comes to living your most vibrant life, it's going to be a wild ride. So let's get started. Hello, and a warm, warm welcome to the latest Freedom TV human podcast. So I'm going to ask you, what does what do a murder company, ambush, congregation, convocation, business, army, ostentation, pantheon have in common? They are all collective nouns. Well done. You are murder of crows, a company of parrots, an ambush of tigers, a congregation of alligators, a cloud of bats, a convocation of eagles, a business of ferrets, an army of frogs, an ostentation of peacocks, of course, a pantheon of gods and drum roll. A loneliness of humans. So I heard. This list. My dad read it out over the weekend. So we were sat next to the fire and yeah, that was kind of like a jaw dropping moment that someone had actually called it out. That there's a loneliness of humans is the collective noun of humans. So in this podcast, Freedom to Be Human, of course, I couldn't let that go. And I believe actually there are other collective nouns for humans. By the way, it's just this particular list, but it sparks a thought, it's provocation, and it's what we do on this show. It's also what I do on the Daily News over on Instagram, supposedly every day. I definitely spoke about the loneliness of humans today. I guess it took me by surprise, not least because we know that we're wired to be social. And in fact, it's the connection. Connection to other people is the most important thing out of the social element. So your success is shaped by your environment. We talk about that in more detail on a different show. And you are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with. But we also know that if you are involved in community, if you're still part of the family, if you still have a friendship circle, the older you get, the longer you live. That comes out of the blue zones work where people in these pockets of longer years, all of that plus adding in that when we feel lonely, our immune system declines because it's heavy, energetically. It's a heavy load for the body to manage. And if you're not around other people, then it switches parts of it off because you're not likely to catch as many bugs. It's a heavy system. Like I said, a heavy load and you don't actually have to be excluded from a tribe for that to kick in, you just need to feel lonely for that to happen. And this is the irony, and I think this is why it's really pertinent potent comment or collective noun. That when we've got more opportunity to be connected through the rise of technology and there's more people than ever on the planet, but there's more people feeling lonely not having that connection, and therefore the effects on their health and their longevity. I think that's quite an alarming thing to sort of ponder over. And as part of the Nine to Thrive program that I include on various various coaching programs that I run, connection to your environment and connection to those around you are two of the nine pillars for your ultimate success when you focus on the whole and freedom to be human. So I don't take it lightly by any stretch of the imagination how important being in and around people and how that has an impact on your productivity, your performance, your health, wealth and happiness, because we're wired that way. So I think as much as I love amusing, as much as I love a provocation, it's also important to sort of consider what we can do about that. And I think looking at if you are in and around people that are your people, that are your tribe, that are there to cheerlead you, are there to pick you up, are there to help you reach a sense of fulfillment and achievement, whatever that looks like for you. And if they're not, then take some actions to find more people that are. And that sort of linking in with community and purpose and something bigger than you. What is it that you can do to give you that sense? Whether it's joining a sports group or some kind of hobby that you can do with other people. And this doesn't mean that you have to be front and center of attention. And I wouldn't want anyone to think that this is the world of extroverts talking now, taking over the show. I don't mean that at all. I think that you have to be front and center of attention. It's just knowing those people are there. I said it's a feeling of loneliness and you can feel lonely in the busiest room or in the busiest city or you can feel deeply connected with one other kindred spirit sat opposite you or however you're communicating with them. The extrovert intuition has got nothing to do with where I'm going with this conversation, but it is about finding your people and there's an energy exchange with that and you will be on a higher vibration when you are in and around people that you can spark off. We use this language all the time and I love that that's potentially a topic for another day. The words that we say and kind of just gloss over them pass over them, but they actually mean something. So people that you spark off with, the people that you vibe with, the people that just bring you joy, the people that make you smile from within, the people that make you feel like you, those are the people that you want the connection with, those are the people that's the way to not be feeling lonely. Having a sense of something that's bigger than you is huge and right through to even like sports performance. You can see that in action. But knowing that you've got a purpose, knowing that you are most likely helping someone else, is another route to dismantling that feeling of loneliness. And I think that if you sense any of that, if you feel that you're not quite yourself, if you feel that you are maybe just living in the shadows a tad or a lot, then that's definitely a root out of it. And I said, it forms two of the Nine in the Nine till thrive program. And it's not just you. We're all wired for connection. We're all wired to be in and around, sharing, exchanging, interacting. All of that is what makes us human and it's what enables us to thrive the more we have of it. So I wish you a vibrantly, radiantly, connected week. I want to say connected that's connected to a purpose, that's connected to those around you, that's connected to your environment, connected to that sense of something bigger than you, because that's where the magic happens. And we are all for that at Freedom to Be Human. Have an amazing week. I shall see you back here next week. If you've enjoyed our conversational journey today, I'd be thrilled.
