Afternoon Pint
Trailer Park Boys - Clips from our Red Carpet interviews for their new movie - Standing On the Shoulders of Kitties!
We were more than excited to meet the Trailer Park Boys live on the red carpet at the Canadian premiere for their new movie "Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties." in theatres December 6th!
This episode is not our typical style of sitting down at the pub, but we did have a couple of Nine Locks Beers in hand as we interviewed the trailer park legends and their fearless director Charlie Lightning.
This podcast was derived from video clips that were shared on our socials earlier this week (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Facebook.) Please give us a follow over there to check out these clips and more. Interviews include Bubbles, Julian, Ricky, Randy, Charlie Lighting, the folks from Bide Awhile Animal Shelter, guest actor Guido Furlani, T and Mr Finch and the right hand man for the trailer park boys, Chipper.
We learn of Bubbles dream band, fashion choices with Ricky, Randys favourite cheeseburger, Julians favourite beer and what director Cody Lightning thinks of Canadian Fish and Chips! Thanks again to the TPB squad for chatting with us!
Maybe in 2025 well get to enjoy a proper pint with them.

Welcome to the Afternoon Pint. We're here at the Taylor Park Boys present Standing on the Shoulders of Pity, the Bubbles and the Shit Locker Store. We are here at Dartmouth Crossing Cineplex and we're about to talk to the people in the movie. It'll be fun, let's go. Who are we here? With Julian, so you're known for the rum and cokes, but you know we're the Afternoon Pint. So if you had to choose a beer, what would be your beer of choice? I guess I mean I'm growing up in Coal Harbor or Sunnyvale, which is not Coal Harbor, is that right? I got to go with Keats man, Alexander Keats. Those are like it, like it a lot right.
Speaker 1:And that's. We grew up drinking that when we were younger and that's what I got into this. All right, that's cool. All right in the movie here you you travel to. That's the best place to go partying and drinking man, that's a good one. Best place to go partying and drinking Ireland.
Speaker 3:Ireland. Okay, Go to Dublin.
Speaker 1:Go to yeah anywhere in Ireland is great. So second choice would be Guinness. Maybe I don't like the.
Speaker 3:Guinness man.
Speaker 1:Randy was with us, he ended up drinking all my Guinness, but yeah, I'm not a Guinness guy. Alright, if you could travel around with any band now, who would it be? Dead or Alive, dead or Alive, dead or Alive? I'd have to say I'm a big Bob Marley fan man. I would hang out with Bob.
Speaker 3:I would get Ricky to roll a bunch of six-paper joints.
Speaker 1:I'd get a big bottle of rum and I would just give her a little bit of music.
Speaker 2:I feel it All right, I like it.
Speaker 1:Talk about peace, love and share. Right yeah, love it All right. Well, cheers, cheers, man, cheers. Okay, ricky Yo.
Speaker 3:What are you wearing? Or who are you wearing? Who am I wearing? I don't know man, just clothes. I'm in the Costco 2019 collection. How can we say that, yeah, I'm more Walmart Shirt by Valoo Village. Valoo Village you look fantastic, so do you. Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 1:So this movie? How are you going to save Bubbles out of the shitstorm he got himself into?
Speaker 3:Well, it wasn't easy. When you're you know, when you have a bit of a criminal past and you don't really have a legal passport, it's tough. But you know, when your friend's getting in trouble you've got to do whatever the hell it takes to go and help your friends. So I think that's a good message. We did and, yeah, brought them home and it was all good, right on it's a bit of a shit show.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you guys really go all around the world in this movie. What was one of your favorite? The party.
Speaker 3:See, I missed most of it because I only got to go to London. The rest of the boys got to go to Prague and all these other cool places. I'm jealous, but London was cool. Abbey Road Studios, yeah, it was awesome. Man Really enjoyed it. Awesome Pleasure meeting you man.
Speaker 1:Alright, you too have a great one, you too. And here we are with I'm Randy from Sunnyvale, jailer Park, randy alright. So, so the best place to get a cheeseburger, your top spot, top spot to get a cheeseburger. I've been really liking A&W lately. Well, no growth hormones in the burgers and it's the whole burger family. So you can get like a little tiny buddy burger or you can get like a papa, or you know the teen burger, and you do have to care about the quality of the meat and you know that's a big thing. But I I do like the dairy queen and burger king and harvey's and harvey's harvey's is like the subway of burgers.
Speaker 1:You can just get whatever you want on there, you know. So I mean, there's lots of good burgers, so don't think that I don't like them all because I mean, yeah, you need to change it up, but I switched to singles, say, all right, that's why I'm looking so good right now, in and out. Yes, and you did some traveling, obviously, with the guys here, you know, through Europe and everything. Yes, best place to party Best place to party. I think, like I really enjoyed going to Prague. It was really nice.
Speaker 1:And you could go to the corner store and you can buy yourself some drinky poos and walk along the river. But amsterdam, there's these cafes they've got.
Speaker 1:They've got some of the hashish in there, amsterdam and all the canals and stuff, and oh geez, london was cool, and so you know what. All of them are cool, but I did, I did really like frog and Amsterdam. I thought they were quite nice, but I liked them all Awesome. All right, well, you know. Last question we are here on the red carpet, so I'm going to have to ask you who are you wearing these? You know what? These are Arnold Palmer pants. They're in there. I got them at the Sally Ann for two bucks.
Speaker 5:So that's, very good.
Speaker 2:You're a man for value.
Speaker 1:You need value and if you're ever going to fight, take your pants off. If they're good pants like this, yeah, those are nice. You don't want to get them dirty and you can move better, you know. Cheers. People are a little bit shook when you don't have pants on, because you don't know what could happen.
Speaker 2:Good way to win, that's right, cheers.
Speaker 1:Good to meet you both. Yes, all right, okay, I'm here with Bubbles, bubbles. Pleasure to meet you, sir. Nice to meet you too. Yes, I like your microphone, thank you, and I like what you're wearing. You have to tell me like who are you wearing which designer? No, it's got my favorite kitty I've ever owned on the back. Wow, that's Vince the Pants. I had him almost 20 years. Greatest kitty that ever lived right there. Wow, man, you look incredible. Thank you, thank you. Standing on the shoulders of kitties the title of this film. Weren't any kitties hurt in the making of this movie? No, I didn't actually stand on any kitties. It's bigger, okay, it's bigger, okay. Like a metaphor, it's a metaphor.
Speaker 6:Okay, I got it.
Speaker 1:No it's just about the fact that you know I wouldn't be the person I am if it wasn't for kiddies.
Speaker 1:They're sort of what you know guided me through my life so I've been standing on their shoulders, but no, I don't ever stand on a kitty. That's very important, very important. Okay and last question, your, okay and last question your dream band. If you could tour with any band in the world, dead or alive, who would it be? Oh, that's quite a question. I mean I would have oh my God, it would be quite a band. I would have Red Soul Vine in there for sure. Dave Dudley, jimi Hendrix, some of the Beatles, some of the Rolling Stones, some of Ed Zachman.
Speaker 1:But, I'd also have Roy Clark on guitar. Yes, I'd have. You know, some of the cast of Hee Haw would be in my band for sure. It would be a mega group Alex Lyson from Rush, axl Rose, sebastian Bach, rita McNeil it would be a band that would be amazing. Yes, sir Bubbles, it's a pleasure to meet you.
Speaker 2:I hope everybody enjoys the new movie.
Speaker 1:Yeah, standing on the shoulders of kiddies, go see it Cheers. And who am I here? With Charlie Lightning? So what inspired you to create this movie? Well, Bubbles.
Speaker 4:Bubbles inspired you. Bubbles came to me with a script and was like, because usually I make music documentaries, well, yes, yes. So I made a film about Liam Daly and I've been documenting Paul McCartney for the last 15 it's actually 17 years but Bubbles would come to the show and we just hung out and we became friends and said, look, I want to do a sort of music documentary vibe. That's what you do. Bubbles has put a band together. He's gone on tour. Would you be up for making it? And I read the script and I was like this is amazing, you know I have to make this go who would be your dream.
Speaker 4:Get to make a music video for dead or alive I've worked with liam gallagher for a long time and I've worked with Noel Oasis. I'd love to do an Oasis video. They're back. Do you know what I mean?
Speaker 1:And of all the places you guys travelled in this film, best place to party, best place to have a pint?
Speaker 4:Best place to party. Well, you're with Bubbles man every first. There was this place in Prague that we went to, that Billy Bob Thorne used to go to a lot, and it's like an absinthe bar and you did these mad little absinthe drinks. Yes, that was just interesting, the look of it and the feel of it.
Speaker 1:Did you say you spent some time here? Obviously you're from England. Yeah, who has the better fish and chips Come?
Speaker 4:on about her fish and chips come on, you're really asking me that question. I am, but we do, of course we do. You know what I mean. Like fish and chips here is all right, but you don't get it. You don't get it because it's not like it's almost everywhere you go around the world. It's almost like a fancy thing, like you have it in, like in a pub. But a fish and chips like just like you know, like just the chippies you get, you get them here, but they're more like kebab shops or like you know that you'd be in at 2am having a poutine or whatever, but like it's just and it's more. It's that thing of like best fish and chip places are by the sea. You know what I mean. And it's like they're good here, but it's like I could hear it, but it's not.
Speaker 1:You can't ask an Englishman that I know, I know Well. Thank you very much, appreciate it very much. Thank you very much, cheers, I'm here with T, your boy, mr Finch, Represent Sunnyvale Trailer Park. You guys aren't in this movie, but you're here to show your love and support. Is that right, exactly, if you could travel with your band a dream rap group, whoever who would it be?
Speaker 3:My whole crew, my grounds for America.
Speaker 6:How about you, man Wu-Tang, wu-tang Clan?
Speaker 1:Alright. Next question Favorite member of the Wu-Tang Clan, old Dirty Bass, nice meeting you guys. So who do we have here with us? Chipper, chipper, alright, chipper, what do you do? Probably about 50 different things for the boys shoot, edit content, produce direct tour guide, tour runner, drug mule, whatever else is needed, really. And by the boys you mean the trailer park boys. Yeah, I've been with them for almost 15 years now, so it's been quite a run. Did they buy you a trailer? They did not, but they allow me to sleep in Ricky's when we're off season. How many cats do you own? Personally, I own two cats.
Speaker 2:You own two cats, all right.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I've got a couple free range to live in the neighborhood, but I own two of myself. All right, okay, and where's your favorite place to get a cheeseburger?
Speaker 3:I'm a big fan of Five Guys, I'll admit.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but I'm also an A&W fan my personal barbecue man that's kind of the best cheeseburger there is right, I'm a big fan of Smashburger man. These are kind of not new to me but new kind of to the area. So I love Smashburger, appreciate it, hey. So Bubbles is not only a fan of the kitties we're here with by the Wild Animal Shelter and you guys are all about saving the cats.
Speaker 2:What's your name? My name is Sam. I'm our communications and marketing coordinator at the shelter. Alicia.
Speaker 5:I'm the executive director.
Speaker 1:Tell me a little bit of what you guys are here doing tonight.
Speaker 2:So Bubbles has invited us to come here tonight to the premiere of the movie Standing on the Shoulder of Kitties, to represent the kitties. What better way than to showcase what we're doing for the kitties in the community, than being here with one of our biggest supporters, Bubbles?
Speaker 1:What's one thing that people can do in their day-to-day lives now, or how can they reach out and help you guys.
Speaker 5:So we are kicking off our Giving Tuesday campaign with this event and so you can call the shelter, donate from our Amazon wish list, you can make a monthly donation or you can stop by and adopt.
Speaker 1:Well, thank you, guys. So much. Have a great night. Who am I here? With my wife?
Speaker 6:no, no, no. Who are you? Oh, who am I? Okay, I'm widow forlani, for the french g.
Speaker 1:You were telling us that you were playing an interviewer in the movie exactly, I was stealing your job.
Speaker 6:I'm the interviewer. I'm interviewing the shit rockers, and it's been a wonderful time together. Okay, where are you originally from? I'm Italiano.
Speaker 1:Italiano, now they don't go there. But outside of Italy, what would you say is the best place to go partying in Europe? In Europe?
Speaker 6:Outside of Italy Paris.
Speaker 3:Paris.
Speaker 6:Okay.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 6:France all the way through.
Speaker 1:Really Okay, oh yeah, and what's the worst interview question you've ever heard?
Speaker 6:Oh God, that's a wonderful question, Because I'm not a professional interviewer.
Speaker 5:I am a knackling interviewer Exactly.
Speaker 6:Well, I think the worst interview question is when the interviewer gets very personal and they try to sneak out something of you that is too personal. Okay.
Speaker 1:All right yeah.
Speaker 6:Yeah. So don't ask me that Don't ask me about my business.
Speaker 5:No, I'm joking.
Speaker 6:I'm joking, I am an open book. I am an open book. So is this your acting debut? No, I acted debut 24 years ago in Italy. Then, some 18 years ago, I learned your language, came to Hollywood, learn English acting. I came to Vancouver. I fell in love with a woman. I became a life coach. I continued acting and then, four years ago, we moved to Nova Scotia how long have you been in Nova Scotia?
Speaker 1:Four years, four years. Yes, you're loving it. So far, so far. I love it. How's the wine?
Speaker 6:The wine, yeah, terrible. But the film industry it's wonderful here, awesome, our show business is wonderful. Thank you very much Nice to meet you.
Speaker 5:Thank you.
