Hey everyone, it's Shannon here! In this solo episode, I delve into my personal journey through motherhood, loss, and empowerment. Despite opening up the floodgates to guests on the podcast, I realized the importance of sharing my own story, prompted by the feedback from those close to me.

I kick things off by introducing myself as a midwest mama of two girls, with a background in education and a passion for empowering mothers. Reflecting on my move from Michigan to North Carolina for a teaching job and later transitioning into the private sector, I share the challenges of balancing career ambitions with the demands of motherhood.

The birth of my first daughter, Emerson, was a turning point that revealed the harsh reality of postpartum struggles and the lack of support for new mothers. Battling postpartum depression in silence, I highlight the importance of destigmatizing mental health challenges in motherhood.

As life threw unexpected curveballs, including the return of my father's cancer and his subsequent passing, I found myself reassessing priorities and seeking empowerment. This led to pivotal decisions, including leaving my job and embracing new opportunities for growth and fulfillment.

I recount the surreal moment when I was laid off from my job, a catalyst for embracing change and launching the "Having a Mom Moment" podcast. Through it all, I've learned to trust my journey, find strength in vulnerability, and empower other women to thrive amidst life's challenges.

Join me as I share the raw, unfiltered story of my journey, offering insights, inspiration, and a glimpse into the transformative power of embracing one's own narrative. Let's navigate motherhood, loss, and empowerment together.
