Welcome, welcome, welcome back to another episode of From Our Perspective. I'm your boy, deion, coming to you with another From Our Perspective. You know, you got the man, the myth, the legend, captain Hate Himself. Q How's it going? Q.
Speaker 2:I want to do what it is. You're another bad shit boy. Mr Bill, I can't say your name, what's?
Speaker 1:going on Deion. Nothing much, nothing much. We're talking about the West Coast season, nfc and AFC West. A lot going on with those teams, a lot of question marks from those teams. That we will get to, but before we get to that, we got to talk about college basketball. We have come to the final four for the men and women respectively. We have come to the Final Four for the men and women respectively, which means we're coming to the conclusion of the Division I basketball. But let's start out with the men. For the second time ever, all one seed is made to the Final Four Auburn, florida, duke, houston.
Speaker 1:And another coincidence I think is finally funny. I mentioned it when we was previewing this tournament the last time all one seed made it was when the Final Four was in San Antonio. It just so happens that the Final Four is in San Antonio again. So this was the year. This was the year. If you was one of those people that always just puts the one seed in it I usually never do it because it usually never happens but this was the year to do it and it finally came to fruition. Are you surprised by it? And how much weight on this transfer portal at NIL do you put on this being all the ones he's making now?
Speaker 2:It's got to display this play. The transfer portal kills Cinderella's. That's why all the highest he's making the nail. The transfer portal kills Cinderella's, that's why all the highest he's won. I ain't even saying NIL killed him, because you know sometimes, well, it probably did, because the kids can transfer her to make some more money. So I would have to NIL. But I really think it's just a transfer portal. Dudes now show how good they are at your lower level division ones, so then they transfer up to another school. Then they might transfer again. I seen a dude that's about to transfer again. He's going to be on his seventh or 18th in seven or eight years. Bruh, you're a grown-ass man. Bruh, you're 24. Bruh, who you doing? No, you're 25, 26. Come on, bro, what are you doing? No, it's 25, 26. Come on, bro, what are we doing? Let's turn on overseas and get a bag. But now the NIL.
Speaker 2:I guess I will include. But transfer portal killed Cinderella's the number one teams. Our four number ones getting there surprised me a little bit, even though I picked three to get there. Only one I didn't pick was Auburn, because I had Michigan State beat them Because Tommy Izzo is Tommy Izzo, so I was like he ain't going to get you. This is the year Tommy Izzo is going to get you. It didn't happen. But Florida, we knew was a dog Duke got. Not only do they got the best player in the country, they also got multiple dudes that are going to be drafted in the lottery for the Whitecaps. And then Houston wasn't up a defense. So you knew what it was with them.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they're making it ugly and they're winning them games Low-scoring ugly games, I think. Houston, they did have a couple nail-biters, they snuck out of there a couple times, but hey, that's what you got to do to win the tournament With them. Four teams, though. Who you got, though? Because it's Auburn Florida tomorrow? No, it's Auburn Florida Saturday my bad Saturday at 6, and Duke and Houston. They follow them at about 9 o'clock.
Speaker 2:I'm going Florida because that's who I picked to win it out and I'm going Duke because I'm still sticking to my bracket. I'm going to Florida and I'm going to do Because, like I said, Florida put up a honey something on anybody and everybody that rolled that ball up. They don't play that much defense, but they jacked them threes. So I'm going to Florida and I'm going to do. I got Florida to win it.
Speaker 1:I'm going to go ahead. I actually agree with you. I'm just going to go out on a limb. It'll be a little bit different. I think. Houston, they're going to muddy it up, make it ugly and they're going to get one on Duke. Obviously, duke has Cooper Flagg, the best player in the country. I believe he won the Nate Smith National Player of the Year. But I'm going to go Houston against Florida. But I'm going to have Florida win it at all.
Speaker 1:Florida they just been dominant. They won the SEC tournament and they just been rolling and then they beat. They beat the teams along the way, beat Texas Tech, they beat Maryland and then they, obviously they beat UConn. I was watching that UConn game. I really thought UConn was going to get them, but Florida put it out. But one thing I would say. I feel like you tell me, did this March Madness seem kind of boring to you, not exciting, I know, in some way I feel like it probably was, because our team came out pretty early. We were literally the first game of the tournament, pretty early. We was first, we was the first game of the tournament. So, like once we was out, I feel like maybe we lost a little bit, but outside of that, I mean, it still felt like the tournament was a little boring.
Speaker 2:The only upset was McNeese State. Yeah, that was it, and you already knew. And that was kind of a weird situation because you knew that coach was gone as soon as the season was over, so you didn't even have that much faith and hope into them. This was a very chalky year, which was to be expected, with the transfer portal Cinderella's I forget who said it, but Cinderella's make the first weekend or two. That's what makes the tournament exciting. That's what make it pop. Then you get to the Final Four. It's like, okay, the big dogs come and play, the Blue Bloods is going to win in the Final Four, but to get there you need the Cinderella's, the schools. Nobody ever heard of that. You got to go Google when is that at? That's what makes the tournament fun. That's when anybody got a chance.
Speaker 2:You didn't have that this year. Nope, and it don't feel the same. Did I watch it still? Yeah, I still watched it, like I normally do. But did I? I didn't think I bet I lied. I actually watched it a little bit less. I actually watched more women's this year than I did men's, and I'm talking about, like when Indiana was playing, and Murray State.
Speaker 1:But you know you look at it. Yeah, I was watching. I still watch the men's, at least until about the Sweet 16, because I'm a you know, I'm a degenerate sports gambler. So that's part of the reason why I was just still watching it. But I was mostly watching the women's game and we might as well slide over to that.
Speaker 1:When Juju got hurt and you know, god bless Juju. Hopefully she held safely, has a successful surgery and comes back 100%. But when Juju got hurt, I ain't going to lie, I kind of checked out. When Juju got hurt and when Louisville lost to the TCU, I was kind of checked out. When Juju got hurt and when Louisville lost to TCU, I was kind of checked out. Because why didn't you check out? I was just it. Just it blew my excitement because there was two games I was looking forward to. Like I said in the pre-pie, was Louisville, tcu and I really wanted to see Juju versus Paige Buckets. And Paige Buckets, she's been going crazy, she has.
Speaker 1:I still checked it out, but checked out some games with UConn. I watched the South Carolina, the LSU Well, south Carolina, duke, yeah, I watched the South Carolina. Then I watched the UCLA-LSU game. I watched those two while I was having dinner with my grandma for her birthday, but outside of that, I mean, I just I was more excited for this tournament. Usually you got hurt. I was like, ah, it is what it is. But usually women's basketball is a lot more chalked and has been probably going to be a lot more with the NIL. But we didn't get our one C's but we got three one C's with a two C seeds UCLA, uconn, south Carolina and Texas. Those are your four teams. Uconn. You can basically say they're one seed anyways, You're right, you said they're two.
Speaker 2:That two seed is UConn. That's the number one seed of women's basketball. First.
Speaker 1:Yeah. So I mean, hey, we did a little side bracket for the women's side. I felt it very interesting. I think it was about eight of us that did it, made a bracket, everybody picked USC, but everybody picked South Carolina and I picked the one out west Southern California. Obviously, my bracket was busted. Usc got put out by UConn but everybody else picked South Carolina and I guess I'm going to have to jump on that boat with you guys, even though they have been looking to look a little shaky. A little shaky.
Speaker 2:Because I thought they was going to lose that game with Duke for a minute. I ain't getting a hold of Because I thought they was going to lose that game with Duke for a minute. I ain't getting a hold of you. They're looking a little shaky. I thought they was going to lose that game.
Speaker 1:But I know UCLA is a talented team but they about to run into that woman, paige Buckets and Geno who has been they've been hot. So I got UConn beating UCLA and I got South Carolina being Texas. Uconn versus South Carolina. I will say April 6th this Sunday, or no this Saturday.
Speaker 2:They play Saturday, no they should play Friday and Sunday. Friday and Sunday.
Speaker 1:This Sunday I'll be watching. Just know it, I'll be watching.
Speaker 2:I'm going to be watching Friday. I'm going to be watching Friday. I'm going to be watching Friday. I got to see what time they play Sunday.
Speaker 1:Yeah, tomorrow, they got that, they ain't got time on there.
Speaker 2:They ain't got time.
Speaker 1:I got to see the time they play on Sunday.
Speaker 2:So I do have. You don't got to answer, but I find it interesting. I get that UConn been on the road. It has been balling. But if you look at the bet papers because you the bet man UCLA is the number one overall but UConn's paper about like eight and a half points.
Speaker 1:You know that coach, that coach.
Speaker 2:I mean, I know who Gino is. I ain't trying to, but I'm saying what has UCLA done? At least from what? From your ass? Because from my ass I don't, from my perspective I don't see nothing they done to say that they shouldn't still be the betting favorite because they was number one overall. Pretty, I mean, if we ain't talking about like three, four points, I'm talking about eight or nine I mean, the thing is the way these sports books work, man.
Speaker 1:They don't lose money. They don't like to lose money. And a lot of people are not dumb. People such as, let's say, tom Brady, michael Jordan, players such as that, or players or coaches such as that. They know that player always has a chance and they're not going to ever put them as a crazy underdog because, if they know, if they do, the money is going to start flooding because there's a chance that that team can win. So that's probably the reason why they did. Now, eight is pretty egregious. That's my point.
Speaker 2:Eight is a big number.
Speaker 1:Yeah, eight is egregious. That's my point. Eight is egregious. Yeah, eight is egregious. That thing is probably going to have to come down. That thing is going to come down. I feel like a lot of people are going to start betting on it and bring that thing down. I think it'll probably close at close to the five. But eight is egregious because I don't think UConn is going to beat them by eight points or double digits. It's going to be a close game. Both these games are going to be close. Well, all three of them are going to be close. I just think UConn Paige they got the best player on the court right, the best player playing right now in the tournament, right now, the hottest player as well.
Speaker 2:So that's why I'm going with UConn, okay. So I ain't going to stop. Stop if I'm ESPN. I want you guys South Carolina. That's what you want, that's what you need. Get these right.
Speaker 2:And I picked South Carolina in my bracket, like you mentioned. But it's something that's making me want to say Texas. It's something that's making me want to say Texas. It's something watching them over the tournament. Maybe it's because of what they did to TCU and you know, I got my little personal bias as a member of the TCU team, so maybe that's what it is that's making me feel like man. I want Tennessee to go. I mean Texas. I want Texas. What they did versus TCU. I want Texas to go and get it. And then they got that whole woman story. I think she tore both her ACLs or her knee or something like that and she backfired. She followed it out versus TCU. So I want to pick Texas. I really do. I'm not going to, but I really do want to pick Texas. I really do. I'm not going to, but I really do want to pick Texas. So, yeah, I'm still going to go UConn South Carolina and I'm going to go South Carolina.
Speaker 1:I really do want to pick Texas. Hey, we're going to find out. It's going to be interesting. I'll be watching because I think they'll all be good games. But before we leave women's basketball, we got to talk about, apparently, the potential number two overall pick, olivia Miles. Pretty much saying I'll wait or I'll wait for the WNBA, I'm going to go ahead and hit that transfer portal. I know NIL is still good. I know that women's basketball contracts ain't like that yet, but we've talked about it a lot with Cooper Flagg recently. Do you agree with her coming back to college? It looks like she's not going to be at Notre Dame, but yeah, I agree.
Speaker 2:Her I agree with because one the most important reason is she's going to make more money in college than she is in the WNBA, because the WNBA contract, the new CBA, don't start until next year, so it's a double sore. I'll stay in school one more year, use this last year eligibility, make more money than I would if I played in the WNBA and then I enter the WNBA draft next year. She's still probably going to be a top pick and I get the new WNBA contract money, so my rookie deal is going to be higher. So for her it makes more sense. The thing I'm questioning is why is she leaving another day?
Speaker 1:I don't get that. She can just come back. If you want to come down south to them, cardinals, come on down but I don't get that.
Speaker 2:I don't get the leaving the Notre Dame part, unless you know you want to South Carolina or USC to go play with Juju? I wouldn't believe. But I mean she knows something that I don't, so more about her too. But I mean she knows something that I don't, so more power to her. But I think she's smart. I asked somebody, I asked our homeboy GP did it probably before I asked him, I said you think, what if it ain't NIL? What if she seen who had the number two pick in the WNBA? And she said I don't want to go there, that ain't good for you. He was like nah, bro, it's the money.
Speaker 2:It is I know it. What if we had an Eli Madden situation in there?
Speaker 1:But it's the money.
Speaker 2:I know it, I ain't mad at him.
Speaker 1:I'm looking at the red board now, if I can find it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I ain't mad at him.
Speaker 1:We all know the Dallas Wings. They might as well go ahead, go to Tampa, where the final four is, and make sure Ms Page is good, because they might as well go ahead and go down there. Make sure she's good, check on her.
Speaker 2:We know she's one of them. That's what I came with that question. Is it Flo J Sparks? Sparks got it. She's going to make some money in LA. Yeah, sparks got it. Yeah, she could have made some money in LA.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but it's still more money.
Speaker 2:But yeah, it's that Flo Jack didn't declare for the WNBA draft, so look like she might be staying another year.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, I mean same thing. Yeah, she's going to be making that money and if she's staying in LSU, you know they're going to have another opportunity to go get them a national championship. So, man, so let's go ahead and slide over to the NFL. But one more thing I just want to point out, guys. You know I've been watching a lot of baseball here recently, you know, watching the Cincinnati Reds, probably because I had a, you know, three-month free trial of the it's not MLB Network, but it's basically I get Cincinnati Reds games for three months. So I've been watching it and I'm starting to like it. I guess I ain't going to lie to y'all Baseball is starting to get enjoyed. Even though the Reds stink and we lost three one-to-one games in a row, I'm starting to enjoy it. I told you this?
Speaker 1:They just need to do a better job marketing, because they're getting a lot of home runs, there's a lot more excitement, there's stars everywhere. They just need to do a better job marketing, yeah them new bats?
Speaker 2:Hey, smacking people up. I'm not a fan of the new bats just because I'm assuming, you know, people are going to start using the Louisville Sluggers.
Speaker 1:They've already slowed down, honestly.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I need them to pick back up.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think for the first time I want to say Louisville Sluggers. They're under 50% of the MLB. That's heartbreaking. For the first time. This is like 1997 or something. I read that yeah, Y'all, yeah, pick it up. Y'all need to pick it up down there on Main Street. Y'all need to go ahead and pick up them back productions because we need to get some more Louisville Slugs out there.
Speaker 2:I was going to say get some innovation in there, that's what we need.
Speaker 1:Let's go ahead and talk about these West teams. Let's talk about the NFC West first, and we'll go ahead and talk about the LA Rams. First thing that came to my mind they finished their season losing a heartbreaker to the eventual champions. I thought they was going to do it. They had it. I think they got down to the 15 or 20-yard line and they decided and they for some reason forgot to block Jalen Carter. I don't see how you do it. The man is big right there in the middle. They forgot to block for two straight plays in a row third and fourth down which ended their season this offseason. They basically kicked Cooper Cup to the curb. He's up north. We'll talk about that in a second and they brought in Devontae.
Speaker 1:Adams Still kept Matthew Stafford out there. He flirted with going to other teams. They just gave him another bag. Still have Sean McVay. Defense was super young last year and was super impressive. How do you feel about the LA Rams? Do you think they can make some noise again, because I think they was a little surprising last season.
Speaker 2:We thought they would be better. They still end up winning the division at 10-7. I think they're going to win the division again because, no offense, who else is in that division? Let's be real. Who else is in that division that we think they're just going to actually make some noise and be participants in the playoffs? None of them. None of them, especially because Seattle took a step back. In my opinion, from my perspective, Seattle took a step back.
Speaker 1:They took a step back. You mean the 49ers, though. They took a big step. Seattle took a big step back. 49ers took a step back.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but 49ers here's the thing they injured. They injured a lot, so I don't know what to make of them. That's why I included them with the other teams, because I don't really know what to make of them, and I also don't know the direction that they going, because they still ain't made it Back to the Rams. I think they're going to win the division. The Devontae Adams Is it going to be the Devontae Adams of last year or is it going to be the Devontae Adams of the years before or somewhere in the middle? Because if it's somewhere in the middle or the years before, I really think they got something cooking there, because Stafford's still a good quarterback, stafford's still a top 10, 15?
Speaker 1:He's still great. He still got that arm talent. He's a top 10, 15. He's still great. He still got that arm talent.
Speaker 2:He's a top 10, top 15 quarterback, you know, depending on where you want to put him. So he got it. And then Sean McBride great coach, great schemes. He's going to do what he's got to do. Defense could always be better.
Speaker 1:I mean they're young. They're going to get better because they're very young. They had the defensive rookie of the year, jared Versa or something like that. Jared Linebacker.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and then Puka. I think Puka would benefit by having Adams there, so he'd get a little more open space. You don't think so? You don't think so.
Speaker 1:First of all, he's going to get his targets regardless. If you watch a Rams game, they force feed the hell out of Puka Nakua. My issue I don't think Cooper Cup and Devontae Adams at this point in their careers is that much different. I may would think Cooper Cup and Devontae Adams at this point in their careers is that much different? I may would prefer Cooper Cup. At this point in their careers, they're both going to decline.
Speaker 1:True, but the way Devontae Adams looked in the Jets uniform, it wasn't pretty and Cooper Cup was still productive. He didn't look productive because, again, if productive, because if you watch LA Realms games, they force feed the hell out of Puka Nakua and Cooper Cupp is just chilling, which is crazy, because that man, cooper Cupp, he got triple crown in his trophy room with a Super Bowl MVP, but I don't think it's that much of a difference. So I mean, it's still going to be productive. It's Sean McVay's scheme, yeah, but I guess they just wanted to go cheaper. I'm assuming Devontae Adams is cheaper than what they was paying Cooper Cooper. It has to be.
Speaker 2:I don't know. Okay, I guess I look at Devontae Cooper as different style of wide receivers and I think that style will benefit Puka more. It will also benefit Higley. It'll also get him some more targets, even though he's balled out. Higley's balled out too. I don't know. I just think Devontae, I think the scheme would fit a little better for Devontae and I don't think 2-2 can get some.
Speaker 1:You're going to get a couple deep balls. Get him about 2-2 deep balls again.
Speaker 2:I don't think 2-2. That way I can get him some catches Very biased on that one. If I get biased on that situation I think the Rams are going to win. Was it 10-7 last year?
Speaker 1:11-12 wins.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's what I was going to say 11-12.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and that's just because their division is not that good. Speaking of division, not that good, let's talk to the team. That not going to be the bottom of the team I don't think it's going to be the bottom, but they just they're not good for real. They're a milling team and that's the Arizona Cardinals. Now I want to give a shout-out to Rich Gannon, a former University of Louisville alum, their head coach for the Arizona Cardinals. I want good things for the man, but you got a middling team. You got Kyle O'Meara, who's a good quarterback, not a great quarterback, and the rest of the team is ah. You got Marvin Harrison Jr. He's his second year. Let's see if he can take a step forward. They just dropped the bag off to Trey McBride. Congratulations, trey McBride, to getting that bag. But it's just. They have potential to make some noise. I just don't think they will. So they're just that middling team. So you don't know what they're going to do.
Speaker 2:I mean, I don't know. Arizona Cardinals, what's your thoughts? You don't think they're going to be the bottom no?
Speaker 1:I think it's going to be them Seahawks.
Speaker 2:That was my only thought. You don't think they're going to be the bottom. I think they're going to be the bottom.
Speaker 2:I ain't saying well, let's be clear, I'm not saying Seattle's going to be that much better. Okay, I'm not saying that like Seattle's going 10 for the playoffs. I don't think neither one of them is 10 for the playoffs. But I guess I look at the Arizona Cardinals as okay, what are we doing? That's what I look at them and the question is what are we doing? Okay, they just said they said Klay is counting, he basically 40. I mean he 38. I think.
Speaker 1:I think he got drafted by the Cardinals. He's just coming back to say what's up.
Speaker 2:Joshua, joshua, nice play. I'm not not knocking him, but other than that it'd be Marvin Harrison Jr. Because you, you mentioned Kyler Murray and I still don't know what to make of Kyler Murray, because Kyler Murray has so many. Sometimes I look at Kyler Murray and be like damn, and then sometimes I look at him and be like damn, I don't know what to make of him. That's why I think they're going to be at the bottom. I don't know what to make of Kyler Murray and I thought Marvin Harrison was going to have. Marvin Harrison had a good year last year.
Speaker 1:Not the year. We thought though.
Speaker 2:I thought Burma was going to have a great year, and I don't think that's for any fault of his own. I think it's because his quarterback be like playing Call of Duty. You know what I'm saying. I'm just playing bro. I'm just playing bro. I'm just talking to you man. Look at that man. Like I was doing a piece, not brutal. I just don't know what the I don't know what to make a column heard.
Speaker 1:He hasn't taken that step. He's got that bag. Congratulations for getting that bag, Well-deserved, because he was a good player. He just hasn't taken that next step. There's some quarterbacks that came in and surpassed them. Cj Stroud came in after him, surpassed them. Jay Daniels his first year surpassed them. And Kyler Murray is like he's just stuck in that he's just there. He hasn't gotten better. He hasn't gotten much worse. He did get hurt, he did tear his ACL so he was a little down, but he hasn't gotten that much better. I think he's still a capable quarterback. He's still a starting quarterback in this league. I don't know. I just I don't know if he, I don't know. He just ain't taking that next step and I don't know if he will. And if he takes that next step, Arizona can do something. I just don't think they will.
Speaker 2:I don't know if he has a next step. I I don't know if he has a next step. I think he might have plateaued, and he plateaued at being a good quarterback, not a great quarterback or a fantastic changing quarterback. Yeah, I don't know what to make of Kyler Murray.
Speaker 1:So I think I'm going to put them at the bottom. I can't do it because I know what's going on. I know a little bit what's going on with Arizona. I don't know what's going on with. We might as well go ahead and talk about them. The Seattle Seahawks Looks like they are rebuilding as rebuilding. They got rid of Geno Smith, they got rid of DK Melcath and, honestly, I keep up with the offseason a little bit. Can you please tell me who's going to be their quarterback next season? Because I have no idea.
Speaker 2:Sam Darnold. Oh yeah, that is right, they got Sam Darnold, they got Cooper.
Speaker 1:They got your dude out of Dallas, demarcus.
Speaker 2:Lawrence yeah.
Speaker 1:They did some stuff. I ain't going to lie, I forgot all about that.
Speaker 2:Walker, the running back, kenneth Walker.
Speaker 1:Kenneth Walker.
Speaker 2:Solid running back. Kenneth Walker, kenneth Walker, solid running back. I think they're going to be all right. Okay, cool, by definition of all right. Maybe all right is not the best word.
Speaker 1:I think they're going to be decent. So I can't lie In real time, because I'll be having a lot on my mind in real time. You convince me that they'll probably be better than the Cardinals.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm not saying neither one of them is going to win that game. That's not what I'm saying. It might be seven and eight. The Cardinals will have seven, seahawks will have maybe six or seven. Yeah, let's go with six. The Orioles are going to have six and the Seahawks are going to have seven. I ain't saying neither Again, be clear. Neither one of them is sniffing the playoffs, but I don't. I have more faith in Seattle because I still, like you said, I think Cooper Rush is a good quarterback.
Speaker 2:I think, Cooper Rush is still good. I just think Devontae would help Puka more because of their style of plays. I think Cooper would help Puka more because of their style of plays.
Speaker 1:I think Cooper would help out Sam Darnold because he would give him what he needs.
Speaker 2:He would give him that safety valve and you got Walker Becker.
Speaker 1:And you still got Jackson Smith and Jacob Batu.
Speaker 2:Now I don't understand why you tried to DK unless DK wanted out.
Speaker 1:He wanted out Okay.
Speaker 2:So if he wanted out, then yeah. But if you know, you checking Sam Darnold and you see what he did with Justin Jefferson, so you know he needs a style wide receiver. If you, I would have tried him.
Speaker 1:He's not that style Cooper Covey, he's a possession guy. He going to find that spot, he going to get to his spot, he going to be open. You possession guy, he going to find that spot, he going to get to his spot, he going to be open, you just got to get it to him. And Sam Darnold we got to see if we get to him. The question with the Seattle Seahawks is is what we've seen for the first 15 weeks of Sam Darnold what we're going to get? Or we going to get what we got in the last three from Sam Darnold? Because what we got in the last three, god awful.
Speaker 2:I think we're going to get somewhere in the middle. Yeah, I don't think he's going to be horrible because them, like you said, them last three guys like I'm looking at him like damn, y'all probably should have put the backup in. But, like you said, those first 15, first 14, whatever he was balling News balling, he deserved the credit. Those first 15? First 14, whatever Ballin', dude ballin' he deserved the credit I think he had. Sam Darnold has all the tools. He just don't be putting them together all the time. But we seen, when Duke got drafted, when he went to the Jets, like when he went to Carolina, like okay, it's something there, he just got to manifest it. I think he will be able to manifest it up in Seattle a little bit.
Speaker 1:Key word a little bit, yeah, and he was actually getting some MVP love, not just from the national media, but he was getting a little bit from us. One of our early podcasts of the season was is the Sam Darnold legit or is it not? That was one of the earliest podcasts of the season.
Speaker 2:I don't think we said he should have been both. I think we just asked was he legit? Don't put that on us.
Speaker 1:He was in the conversation.
Speaker 2:We said he was in the conversation.
Speaker 1:It was an MVP conversation and Quags I was talking about. Hey, bro, you might not want to get rid of Kirk Cousins, and they got Sam Darnold and he was better than Kirk Cousins, True, my bad.
Speaker 1:But now let's talk about the team that's been the head of the NFC West for the last few years. Last year they wasn't. They got hurt. Brandon Ayuk is coming off an ACL injury. Christian McCaffrey was hurt all last season. He's someone with his Achilles. But they found Jason Mason I forgot his name, mason and they had Isaac Garindo a toe net rock back there. Debo, he was hurt but they shipped him to the commanders.
Speaker 1:Brock Purdy. He's in line for a contract. So they've been having to pretty much cut bait, even their fullback. They cut him but they ended up signing him back on a cheaper contract. So they preparing to drop a bag off to Brock Purdy. Is he worth it? I'm not 100% sure if he's worth a $50-60 million contract, but he probably will get it because quarterbacks are valuable. During the interview, brock Purdy said that they were just tired at the end of the last season, which I think is okay. If y'all was tired, what was the Kansas City Chiefs? They've been in the NFC Championship game pretty much the entire year. Come on now, but they definitely was hurt all last season. I guess the question is can they get healthy? I think they're windows done. I think they're working on finding them a new window? They're old windows done, but can they find them a new window? Q I know it's an old question.
Speaker 2:Hey, I got. It's an old question.
Speaker 1:Oh hey, I got to do it.
Speaker 2:Okay, First Brock Purdy. I think he's worth a bag. I just don't think he's worth a bag that has a quarterback type bag. I think he should average, you know.
Speaker 1:The going rate is probably 55.
Speaker 2:I think he should be somewhere between 5 and 10. Do I think he's 5 and 10? Between 5 and 10? No, but I think you got to pay him like he's between 5 and 10. So let's say what? 45?
Speaker 1:42?. You got to get to 50 here. That's probably 50.
Speaker 2:You got to get to 50? I don't think he's not 50. Good he's 45.
Speaker 1:The highest paid quarterback is 60. I think under him it's like 58. But Gordon Ray, 50, 55. I think that's probably where he's going to land 50, 55.
Speaker 2:48. Look, I don't know if you want to commit that much money to him, because all his success came around when weapons was around. Imagine, towards the end of last year he didn't have all the weapons he balled out. I would trade Christian McCaffrey Because Jordan Mason and Isaac Urendo.
Speaker 1:They look good toting that route.
Speaker 2:Well, not just that, you can put any runner, he's proven. You can put any runner back in my system and we don't bother Any runner back. Pick him, give me a dude off the street, he gonna kill him. So try, kirsten McCaffrey, get something for him, because more than likely he gonna going to get hurt again. He ain't playing 17 games, that's for sure. He probably ain't playing 12.
Speaker 1:And the injury was so odd because he was dealing with the Achilles the whole year, like he did not play for the first 10 weeks of the season, first seven, first 10. Then he comes back for two or three games. Oh, I was watching the game where he got hurt. That game was sweet. He just fell down, didn't see him again for the rest of the season. Like what? His Achilles? He did something crazy to his Achilles. He didn't turn, but it definitely was probably on the brinks of turning because they was treating it very cautiously. I'm not done though.
Speaker 2:I say Trey Brandon, and IU too, Brandon and IU Dang, who you all talking about. Okay, hear me out. Kittles is still there. Hear me out. Iu was basically on the training block before because the whole contract situation. I want to see his contracts about to come back up.
Speaker 1:I think they did give him a short-term contract.
Speaker 2:So if you're not going to pay him too, you might as well go and get something for him, and he's coming off the injury as well.
Speaker 1:ACL. They usually take some ACL injuries don't take long to recover from. The hardest thing is that mental hurdle that usually takes over a year to get over the mental hurdle.
Speaker 2:Exactly. So he basically what he doing for you next year. Anyway, I don't know. I think I would trade out you too, that's just me. What's up, Alex? Well?
Speaker 1:I mean they do get Presol, who was one of the stories of the season, coming back from after getting shot and still playing well as a rookie. I think they still need to keep Ayuka today. It depends on if they get somebody receiving this draft. I don't know, but I think the 49ers they'll be all right. I don't think they're going to be world leaders like they have in the past. They've just lost way too many people. But they'll definitely compete for a playoff spot with the LA Rams. It's them and the Los Angeles Rams. We'll see what goes on with that, but that's the NFC West. Hold on, I used to deal it actually goes to 29.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, I thought he had a shorter deal, but yeah, it goes to 29. I got that wrong. The new contract kicks in this year.
Speaker 1:Well, that makes it easy to trade him.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the new contract kicks in this year. My bad.
Speaker 1:We'll see how that works out for them. So, nfc West, let's go ahead and slide over to the AFC West, which they got one big question mark. But let's go ahead and slide to the surprise of the team, and that's the Denver Broncos. Bo Nix looked great, surprised me. I didn't think he was going to be that good. The man was in college for 10 years so I mean I guess he was prepared. Man, when you're in college for 10 years you learn a lot. He came in and looked excellent under Sean Payton's offense. They had the defensive player of the year with Patrick Sershan. He looked great, obviously receiving core pretty good. I'm trying to figure out who did they sign notable this offseason?
Speaker 2:Off the top of my head, I cannot think, because I know it off the top of my head they signed somebody decent. I can't think of it.
Speaker 1:Damn, you're making me draw a blank and I feel like they did, but I can't think of it.
Speaker 2:Damn, you're making me draw a blank and I feel like they did, but I can't think of nobody.
Speaker 1:It wasn't. I know they lost the running back to Dallas. He was just a backup so it wasn't too crazy. But I don't know. Denver Broncos surprise of the team, it was a receiver, wasn't it?
Speaker 2:I got to figure out who they signed, because it's going to bother me now. Who did they sign? To figure out who they signed, because it's going to bother me now. Who did they sign? Yvonne Ingram, that's a tight end. Trent Sheffield no, no, there's nobody sticking out. No, yeah, ain't nobody sticking out. Major that, I see.
Speaker 1:I don't know why. I thought they signed somebody big, but hey but no man, the Broncos.
Speaker 2:I just want to say I probably owe Sean Payton an apology. I ain't like the way he handled Russ, so I was kind of hard on that man. For that I apologize. That's all I got for the Broncos Russ, so I was kind of hard on that man for that I apologize.
Speaker 2:That's all I got for the Broncos, because I'm trying to be positive, because I'm going to start hating. So I don't want to start hating, but that's all I'm going to say is, I apologize to Sean Payton for questioning his. I don't think I questioned his coaching ability. I think I just attacked him because of the way he handled Russ, which I still think he handled Russ poorly, because Russ got out of see. Here I'm right here, see, I'm about to see, I'm about to start, so I'm just going to shut up now.
Speaker 1:But it worked out for him. But yeah, denver Broncos, they'll be good. I think they'll probably be the biggest competition to the Kansas City Chiefs outside of the Los Angeles Chargers. So let's go ahead and talk about the Los Angeles Chargers. They fumbled, man. They did good in the regular season and they just fumbled. They just looked terrible against the Houston Texans. They got the right quarterback. They got the right quarterback. They got a good coach. You're not a big fan of Mr Herbert huh.
Speaker 2:You know how you normally praise Herbert, but I'm starting to pull into the Trevor Lawrence mad frame when it comes to Herbert. All right, dog, when you going to show it, because you have, kind of like Sam Darnold, you got all the tools. He's shown it too. He's shown a lot of it. You see it when dudes play, but I feel like when it matters the most, you don't really see it. So I think I'm in the Trevor Lawrence area when it comes to Herbert.
Speaker 2:All right, man, this is the year you got to take that step and you got to prove it Because they banking on you to do that. They got the coach. We all believe they got the coach and that coach is proving he can do a lot with less. I see in the charges less, but they got rid of some people, especially on the defensive side of the ball, because they was expensive. So they got to try to save some money for the cap hits, completely understand. But that coach proved he can do more with less. Cool, herbert, what are you going to do with this team? Because it's your team? I think it's terrible loans, ariel. Prove it. Pro, prove it that you, that dude, prove that you got it. And you know me, I love some Harvard, because I think he's it he's very talented.
Speaker 1:they did get some protection from they. Got that guy Makai Becton to protect them. So they got a good running core. They got rid of Joey Bosa that man's off to Buffalo. Got that guy, makai Becton, to protect them. Still got a good running core. Again, they got rid of Joey Bosa that man's off to Buffalo. So defense they got to figure some stuff out on defense. Y'all can't keep fumbling it, man, like God. Y'all looked horrible against Houston, but I think they'll be the number one problem for the Kansas City Chiefs. But I mean, I'm not picking against the Kansas City Chiefs, I think they'll win it, but we'll get to them in a second. We'll save them.
Speaker 1:For last, we got to talk about the biggest question mark from my perspective in this division and that's the Las Vegas Raiders. They got a new head coach. We've talked about it extensively. They fired Antonio Pierce, which we're like what the hell are you doing? You give the man one year, you give him scraps and try to tell him to make something out of it. He makes not nothing great, but he makes something out of it, and you just give him the boot and then you hire oh, he's peak like a 78-year-old man as your head football coach. Granted, I love Pete Carroll. He's a great coach, super well-winning coach, but still, from my perspective, he's too old man. I mean, obviously discrimination is a thing out there. I'm discriminating against an old-age coach. I want my head coach to be around for a long time. I don't know how long Pete Carroll is going to be around. Obviously he loves coaching. That's probably what he wants to do To the day he pokes over and falls over and dies. That's what he wants to do as coach.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but 78. Yeah, 78, 78, though, and we're talking about an NFL head coach.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he's an NFL head coach. Come on, we'll see him. But another questionable thing they did not. You know, it really ain't not that questionable because, all right, pete wanted his guy. He got Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks. Okay, you know, just use him as a bridge. But then today, okay, you know, just use him as a bridge. But then today y'all go ahead and extend him two more years. Y'all acting like, and the man 34, y'all acting like. Geno Smith is a franchise quarterback. He's a good quarterback. He can get you some wins, he can get you to the playoffs. Can he get you to the Super Bowl? I don't know, I don't think so. I don't know, but I't think so. I don't know. Devlin can't think he can do it with this roster because outside of Brock Bowers, who y'all got Good point Defense, who y'all got, Really nobody.
Speaker 2:Damn. What is the defensive end name?
Speaker 1:Oh, max Crosby, yeah, thank you.
Speaker 2:They got somebody over.
Speaker 1:I apologize, I gave you a couple years. You're not 78. You're 73. Still the oldest hitter.
Speaker 2:He said you still have owed more. I wasn't going to do this because I noticed the old coach. Let me get this off. They fired Antonio Pierce because they gave him scraps. He didn't have nothing to work with. But this offseason y'all go get a quarterback that he could have did something with. So why can't y'all let him get another year and get him some talent? Why you wait till you find a man to actually go get a quarterback that can win you some games? I don't think Geno's going to lose you games. Geno's not that type of quarterback. He can win you some games, he can keep you in some games, but he ain't going to lose you some games. Now, his game that he's going to win it ain't 14. It ain't double digits. He's good for like an extra two wins on what your average would have been without him. With somebody else above replacement, I guess Cool. But y'all couldn't do that for Antonio Perez. Y'all gave him the round. Y'all really gave him.
Speaker 1:Barnum and Shue and AJ and.
Speaker 2:McConnell and y'all wanted him to do something with that, but then y'all fired that man. But cool, we get past it, even though I'm still not past it, because we're supposed to be talking about what they're doing in the future, and we're talking about their past Cool, let's look to that future. Paying Geno is. Paying Geno is cool If your team is Good.
Speaker 1:If you got the Eagles around you Cool.
Speaker 2:It makes sense. Y'all bad, like y'all real bad. So basically what you're saying is Y'all bad, like y'all real bad. So basically what you're saying is y'all don't plan on drafting a quarterback this year. So, shador, you ain't going to Los Vegas, let's not call it Los Vegas. You're not going to Los Vegas, cool. So then next year y'all probably going to be in a draft. Even if you pay him that money, y'all probably going to be in a draft. Even if you paid him that money, y'all probably going to be in a draft. But Geno ain't going to be bad enough to get you orange. So so now y'all tied to Geno to eat 37. Quarterbacks don't not all quarterbacks bottle like that to eat 37. Imagine Geno had his rough patch now, so maybe he might bottle like that 30-7. It's possible. I don't know. It don't make sense.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it don't make sense what they're doing in Las Vegas. But hey, but look who they only use.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm just saying.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, they're not doing much, but we'll see. I'm just going to say it Las Vegas, I got them finishing last in this division, Without question, Without question. Well, let's go to the team that I wouldn't pick against them if they didn't have anybody else on the roster as long as they got 15, I'm picking them to win this division. They really haven't done much this offseason. They did take it with their offensive line a little bit. I believe they traded one of their offensive linemen and they did not re-sign Dehop. They got Juju back.
Speaker 1:I think they still have Rasheed Rice who's coming off an injury. If he's healthy he can be a good player. Let's see how he is after one year off that ACL injury, He'd probably still assault it. Patrick Mahomes, I would be, because he's the one that hurt me. Come on, Pat, bro, You're going to tell my ACL like that Obviously got Xavier Worthy. Travis Kelsey is officially coming back next season. Chris Jones he's anchoring that defense Spax. He's still the defensive coordinator, so he's still got them funky blitzes coming for people. They're going to win the division because they got 15. Outside of that, they'll probably make it to the NFC Championship because they got 15. Outside of that, I don't know man, they haven't really gotten better. But I can't bet against 15 that much because they got the best quarterback in the world. You can't really say too much Y'all cool as long as y'all got 15. What you got for the Chiefs?
Speaker 2:Simple Are you going to win the Super Bowl next year? I mean, that's the only off-season question for the Chiefs. Are y'all going to win the Super Bowl? We are y'all going to win the Super Bowl. We know what they're going to do. Like you said, they got 15. They got Chris Jones. They got the equivalent. Maybe not the equivalent, but you get my point. They got the guy on offense, they got the guy on defense. That's going to change the game. Cool. When you get there, when you get to the AFC invitation invitation that'd be Elder Arrowhead all the damn time, because y'all walked through that division and all them damn wins how y'all going to win that game? When you get to the Super Bowl, how you going to close the deal again Because y'all already proved it. It's not going to do it. That's the only offseason question for Kansas City, besides offensive line, of course, but that has been the question every year and they still get that.
Speaker 1:Yep every year and they still get that. They take it with it. It gets good, win the Super Bowl. Somehow it gets bad. They lose the Super Bowl. That's what happened this year when they played Tampa. They take it with it again and see if it gets good. Let's see if they Only thing I'm willing to put money on is there being an AFC Championship game, probably going against Buffalo or the Ravens.
Speaker 2:That's either. Or Maybe the Beng against Buffalo or the Ravens. That's either, or.
Speaker 1:That's either, or One of them, maybe the Bengals if they figure it out on defense, but I doubt that. I don't know if they're going to figure it out on defense.
Speaker 2:You know them kitty cats can't stop nobody. You know them kittens can't stop nobody. Dog, and you can only put up 50 points. So many games.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and you ain't lying, because not everybody got bad defense, it's just y'all. It's just y'all.
Speaker 2:Y'all not playing, y'all self every week.
Speaker 1:I mean it's easier to catch each other again. They've been pretty quiet. They're going to make some noise in the draft. They seemingly always do. I still don't understand how the NFL let them get Xavier Worthy the one team that's going to use him right, Because every other team wanted to use him right. But you know Andy Reid going to use him right, but Andy Reid didn't.
Speaker 2:I think a team we talked about earlier could have used him, since they got rid of D-Bob before he left.
Speaker 1:Before he left, they would have used Xavier Worthy right.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, they would have used him right, but you know, that shows the difference between caliber of the team, even though, john Lynch, that's the thing that's happening in San Francisco. No shame, but I'm just saying.
Speaker 1:Yep, I mean AFC West is pretty easy to talk about because we know they're going to win it, and the the question is who finishes number two?
Speaker 2:The Chargers. Who finishes third?
Speaker 1:The Broncos.
Speaker 2:And then the Raiders.
Speaker 1:They finish last Ain't no way, and the Raiders ain't going to be that bad.
Speaker 2:They not going to be.
Speaker 1:They'll be six, seven wins back.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I was going to say Hell, I think they might get four. Seven wins back. Yeah, I was going to say hell, I think they might get four. Gino gets you two, you are eight, six.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they're not going to be top. They're not going to be picking top three. They'll probably be picking anywhere between five and eight next year.
Speaker 2:Okay, All right, real quick. If Gino get hurt, you get the number one pick. You should take Arch. You just pay Geno.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, absolutely. But the thing about Arch and I knew it was a possibility he might not come out he's a man. One, he's a manning, he's got money. Two he's a man, he's got NIL money. Three, he's at Texas. He's a man, he's got nil money. Three, he's at texas, he's a quarterback. And I can see his uncles being like hey, you need a little bit more experience, need a little bit more reps under your belt. Nfl ain't going nowhere. They're the type of people that'd be like hey, let's go ahead and stay you good, get you a little bit more reps under your belt, but hey.
Speaker 2:Or they look at that roster and be like nah bro, we're going to sit this one out.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they've done it before. They've done it before. Hey, that team don't look very good. You go ahead and go back to Texas. You don't need to play for that team.
Speaker 2:Not facts. So yeah, the division is Kansas City. They're going to walk through it. They're going to get to the AFC Championship game. The question is is Baltimore or Buffalo going to knock them off their high horse? Or, if they don't, because I wouldn't bet against them to knock off Kansas City when Kansas City gets to the Super Bowl, it's more than likely to play Philly again or Detroit. How are you going to win it? Is your offensive line going to be able to give 15 times to win the game?
Speaker 1:The line should be up in.
Speaker 2:That's what it boils down to.
Speaker 1:That's what it boils down to. So that's it for the Westings, nfc and AFC West. But we got a little special topic we want to talk about. We got some history coming up in NHL. Yes, I said it right NHL. We're talking about a little hockey. Now, obviously, me and Q we don't talk a lot about hockey. We do know a little bit about hockey. We know Wayne Gretzky is the unquestioned goat of hockey. You don't even got to watch a second of hockey to know that if you are a sports fan. But Alex Ovechkin, he's coming up on his record. I think he's a couple goals away.
Speaker 2:I want to say three.
Speaker 1:Three goals away?
Speaker 2:Okay, cool. Here's my question the first three goals away. His next game is Friday versus Chicago, then after that he plays at New York and then he comes back to Carolina. I only wanted to bring this up because I wanted to ask you your thoughts, because this is what I think, but I want to get you on this first. Let's say he plays Chicago, he gets two goals. He ties Ovechkin, I mean he ties Gretzky, or do you sit him on the road game? No, so he can break the record at home.
Speaker 1:No, I wouldn't. I mean I don't know their playoff. I'm sure they're in the playoffs, I'm sure they're there. But no, that's not something I would consider. A record gets broken. Where it gets broken, he's taking the puck home regardless. It doesn't matter. I mean it goes back to thinking about. I remember it vividly. Obviously I don't remember it well, but I remember the lead-up to Barry Barnes breaking Hank Aaron's home run record. I remember they was talking about he should. He needs to do it and when he was with the San Francisco Giants he ended up doing it at home with the San Francisco Giants. I remember there was a little talks about if he shouldn't play it on road games.
Speaker 1:But records like that you just got to break because you don't know if he's going to be able to do it at home. You got to give him as many shots as possible.
Speaker 2:Okay. They are currently number one in their division and their current first-round matchup if anything in it today would be Montreal, the Montreal Canadiens, which is the wild card. Cool, I think I sit him on the road so he can break it at home. We already in the playoffs, we the number one seed. Cool, it's only so many games left. If he's like I said, he needs three to be the all-time leader to the tag. If he already got two at that home game, I'm sitting him at the away game. He's going to attempt to break it at home. Now, if he only gets one on Friday, because the man behind he basically been going to go every game.
Speaker 2:Dude injury I forgot what the injury was, but he was injured, missed half the middle part of the season and then came back and everybody was like, unless he go on the pace he started with, he probably going to break his next year. He started out high at the end of the season before he got hurt, came back, been on the same pace Like dude. It's different. So he's going to break it this year, but I think you will want to break a record like that at home, in front of my fans, in front of the people who paid to see me to get this fight in, sure, over these years. That's just me. Like I said, to break the record, I would sit him on the road game and have him play the next home game. Now, if he only gets one on Friday, he needs two. Then I'll be like, all right, cool, you play him on the road, you let him. If it happens, it happens. But if you to actually break the record, I feel like you have to do it at home.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean the more I think about it, because the first thing that came to mind was the Barry Bonds thing. Getting a goal in an NHL game is a lot easier. Barry Bonds made it seem easy, a lot easier than getting a home run. Barry Bonds was just on a different level. He could get a home run any time he basically wanted to, depending on where you locate that pitch. So it's a lot easier, I see it. They on where you locate that pitch, so it's a lot easier, I see it. They probably won't sit him sitting. They'd be like, hey, he got a little tweak in his ankle or something. I can see them doing that. So the more I think about it, the more I like the idea. But it's going to be a historical moment. It's crazy, though, man, because athletes like Wayne Gretzky, when you don't know a thing about that sport, but you know that guy, that's how you know he's on a different level. I ain't seen Wayne Gretzky play a second of hockey.
Speaker 1:I've seen some highlights from here and there on one of the ESPN shows. But I just know he's just that dude, he's the Michael Jordan, he's the Muhammad Ali, he's the Usain Bolt of that sport. So breaking somebody's record like that, that's a high accomplishment. I don't know if they're going to put Alex Ovechkin on that Wayne Gretzky level. I don't see how you can, but it's going to be a conversation now Wayne Gretzky or Alex? No, that ain't a question.
Speaker 2:It might be Some people might Okay, hear me out. Yes, alex Ovechkin is going to have the all-time goals record, but he's going to have the assist. Gretzky got the assist. Gretzky's over 1,900 assists. Ovechkin ain't like getting over the assist. Not only did Gretzky because people talk about how Gretzky at the current he won't be in a couple of battles next time we play. He's the all-time record in goals, like LeBron all-time scoring leader. When you think of LeBron, you don't think of the score. Gretzky was the same way you don't really think of.
